In the majority of situations I agree.  In the unlikely event of it getting hosed then it would be an option, but it would have to be completely wrecked to even consider it.  D/L the tables "just in case" is a reasonable step to take when doing stuff like this & it keeps your options open.

    A backup is strongly encouraged AT ALL TIMES.    You drop the iPhone, lose it, it's stolen, you get a new phone - you need that backup.  It dies for no apparent reason at all - you need that backup. You forget a password and need to restore it - you need that backup.
    Turkeys are not just for Christmas, and backups are not just for iOS updates.

    Hi.
    I have run an update on a table.
    I can see the update on the v$sqlarea view.
    What is the best way to flahback the table to just before this update?
    I can see a first_load_time column in the v$sqlarea view.
    Should I flashback to this time as timestamp?

    create newtable as select * from test

  • Why doesnt my iphone 4 want to backup before i update my IOS?

    it's showing (error -5000), how can i back up content before updating my IOS?
    my iphone's IOS has never been updated.

    When you update data is erased during the reset. Itunes wants to back up, so it can then put on all your data back on to your phone

    There isn't anything you can do to recover contents from iPhone 4s if you cannot get the iPhone to startup.  Connect it to a wall outlet so you have a solid power source, then do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider if that appears.  If the iPhone still will not startup, the next options to try will automatically erase your iPhone all of its contents.
    The next step is to do a restore via the recovery mode as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 but again note that this erases the iPhone.
    Thank you Landry, it is really a good experience to solve problem of iPhone Data Recovery!

    No. TM has to look through your entire drive contents and copy them all. This will take some time.
    Once the first backup is made, then subsequent backup will be much quicker, depending on how much data has changed since the last one.

  • After downloading the update ios7 my moms phone has been locked with a four digit security code that she didn't have before the update. So she is locked out of her phone. How do I get rid of the four digit code

    HOw do I unlock the phone if there was never a lock code on there before the update?

    Yep.  Same here.  There's a NEW feature in iOS7 for Find my iPhone.  It requires a passcode.  My wife never had a passcode and doesn't have her computer to restore the backup.
    Spent an hour on the phone with customer service last night trying to restore the phone to factory settings but it didn't allow us access.
    Right now we have a 9-month old brick sitting on the table.
    Who in their right mind decided to release this feature that requires a passcode without checking first to see if the user has a passcode?
    I was not really polite to the support staff last night on the call but the person was very professional.  Kudos to how he handled my call but this is just stupid.  So Microsoft-like, so un-Apple-like.
    This feature with this iOS rollout is a big failure and my wife, who didn't want an iPhone until she got (and loved it) but is now out looking for an Android device.  Apple has lost a customer that they had only recently won over.

  • Updating to iOS 5 wiped my ipod clean, can't find the backup from the update. Please help!

    So I updated my ipod touch 4th generation on my old Windows Vista computer. It's been the same iTunes computer that I used to sync with when I first bought the device when it came out. I wiped the old backups inside iTunes before updating because it was taking space. While updating it was backing up my iPod. But then when it finished updating and said I was at iOS 5, it didn't restore my iPod touch. I went into the mobile sync>backup folder in my app data but couldn't find the backup from the update. Apparently iTunes doesn't save the backup from the update. I had 20gb's of my apps on the iPod. I know that I can download back the apps because of iCloud. However, I lost all my photos, notes, contacts, and all the app data in the 140+ apps that were in there. I am pretty sure there is no solution for this problem but I'm just putting it out there. This is my last sliver of hope.

    hello, i have the same problem as you, did you back up before iOS 5? so, you your situation is, that you have an empty, iOS 5 ipod, with the apps, but no game data, no notes, contacts, photos etc. ? ive got the same problem, did any of your apps disappear by any chance? if you backed up before update, use that, if not, i suggest restore to the oldest back up you have, but the newest back up you had before iOS 5, its better than an emptry ipod, hope i helped.

    Hi what is the next system that I should upgrade from Mac OS X 10.6.8? And, should I backup before downloading it?

    You should backup before installing any new system updates or upgrades. Depending upon what your machine is qualified for you could upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
    You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
    To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
           Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
    To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
             See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
         For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • Table Backup and Best Practice

    Hi Guys,
    We have 2 tables, master and child with millions of records in it.These tables gets populated from flat files that we receive from external systems.The major operation on this table are insert/delete(update). The way we do update is, if the record from flat file already exist in table we delete the matching record from master table & child table and re-insert the data from flat files.
    Business has decided to delete (archive) old and inactive data from these 2 tables. This process is run every year. I want to take a backup of this table by creating a similar table in database and start the delete process.
    What would be the best approach to take backup of table,because we run the archive process every year. Archive process here refers to physically deleting a record from a table.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    The Game Center used to work with my Apple ID before I updated to iOS 7.4, I used to play multiple player with EA Real Racing 3 game but it doesn't work at all and every time I tried to go to the Game Center it's just blank, even to the settings nothing!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Game Center and sign out and sign back in
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Calling a stored procedure before row update without using triggers

    I have got two tables Main Table(Table1) and History Table(Table2), whenever an update is done on Table1 i want to insert the old row before update to Table2, so that i have history available for that record.
    My doubt is
    how to refer to old value (values b4 update) in a stored procedure?
    how to call a stored procedure b4 every row update(on the database side as we do with tiggers)?
    I want to write a stored procedure where in i will insert the old row values ( value b4 update ) to Table2.
    Any Help would be great....

    sample code calling procedure before insert:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new someDriver);
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(driver,uname,pword);
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{call procedureName(?,?)}");
              cs.setString(1,userName);
              cs.registerOutParameter(2,Types.VARCHAR);
              cs.execute();
              success = cs.getString(2);
              PreparedStatement pstmt = conn.prepareStatement("insert into sometable values(?,?)");
              pstmt.setString(1,userName);
              pstmt.setString(2,password);
              pstmt.executeUpdate();
              conn.commit();
              cs.close();
           conn.close();
