Talent Management - Objective Setting Aprpoval - One more Level

Hi,
Objective Settings to be approved by both immediate manager and the second higher manager. But, now, only the immediate manager can approve it. I read the doc id Note:550338.1. But, is there any workaround for this? Can we attach custom workflow to this? so that it goes to second higher manager for approval?

We have had this discussion outside the forum, but I have added my comments here in case they are useful to others.
I have read note 550338.1 and I think you would wait a long time for this to be made part of the standard process!
The objectives setting process is either PARALLEL or CASCADING. PARALLEL means that the employee starts the process and the manager has to ‘agree’ the objectives. This agreement is done as a task in the PMP, rather than a response to a notification for approval.
I guess I need to understand WHY you need 2 approvers?
If you use the CASCADING model, then you are cascading objectives down from the top of the organisation and adapting them to lower level conditions. For example, CEO says ‘cut costs by 10%”. This objective might translate to ‘Cut Supplier costs by 10%’ when given as an objective to the Finance Director. He then sets objectives to his subordinates and links them to his own. For example, he sets the Purchasing Manager the objective of “Renegotiate contracts with suppliers”.
When you use cascading, you are implicitly approving the objectives because they are created from the top down.
You asked if you could create a custom workflow to control the second approval. Even if you did this (which I would not recommend), you would have problems with the way that the tasks are sent to and from managers and employees. I don’t think the user interface would support this.
As with all e-Business Suite implementations, the art is to make use of what it does well and not to customise the bits that don’t do what you want! This invariably leads to trouble!

    In PMS/Objective setting and Appraisals module, is there any BADI available to Hide elements( Criteria & Criteria group) on Sub status wise. Meaning, suppose i have Substatus A, B, C & D in status "2" ( In planning) and one of the VC element should be hidden in Status = 2 & substatus = A, B. But in "C" & "D" sub stauts it should be visible.
    If BADI is not available then is there any possible way out for the same.

    There is no badi for this, it slipped of radar during the development of the hide element functionality.
    The only why to achieve the same would be by having a customer own UI and control it on UI level, but its an ugly way which I do not recommend.

  • Performance Management Objective Setting

    Hi Everyone,
    I am working on a full HCM implementation and had a few questions regarding performance management.  The client is interested in having goals and objectives "cascade" through org. units and pre-load on Performance Appraisal templates.
    In the phap_catalog, I have noticed a value determination named "ORG_OBJECTIVES" and it supposedly auto-fills goals set by managers for the performance review period.
    Basically, I am looking for a productive/proper way to have goals flow from the overall organization, through lower level organizational units down to each and every employee.
    For example: Company X has 3 overall goals -> Bob Smith works within Org. Unit Y in which there are 3 separate goals that refer to this Org. Unit -> and then Bob Smith has the ability to add 3 of his own goals for the year.  Overall there would be 3 overall company goals, 3 org. unit goals (total of 6 that pre-fill) and 3 empty fields for Bob Smith to input his own goals.
    Any help would be wonderful.  Thank you for your time.

    Do you have any documentation or guidance on how I could create custom tables to use this BADI that you are talking about.  Currently there is no plan for SEM, so I am going to have to take the route of custom tables utilizing the BADI that you mentioned.  In terms of custom tables, creating them and using them, I only have a high level knowledge, so any documentation/guidance would be very helpful.

  • Talent Management - Objective weightage

    Now, we are in 11.5.10.2 FP K RUP1.
    Assume that, I am setting 4 objectives. Each objective has some weightage value, (Say objective 1 is 30, Objective 2 is 40, Objective 3 is 15, Objective 4 is 15). So, here, the total weightage for all objective is 100%. If the user enters more than 100%, it should show an error.
    Note: I have added 0,5,10...100 in the lookup HR_WPM_WEIGHTING.
    Also, I would like to know the difference between weightage scale (HR_WPM_WEIGHTING) lookup and "Target value" under Measurement tab in Update Objective page.

    Yes, that is essentially what I was suggesting. I'm not a Fast Formula expert, and I know there are limitations with them, but the concept was to store the weighting factor outside the FF and to read the data and process it inside the FF. The objectives and competencies rating values are going to be configured through a rating scale, so that seemed like a good place for the weighting factor.
    Remember too, that the seeded weighting values are lookups, and that you have a code, meaning and description, plus a context sensitive DFF so you could easily store the weighting value in any one of those.

    is there a way of setting up Lightroom to export images in using more than one export preset at one time? When I have edited my photos I very often want to create a full res JPEG to upload to Zenfolio with no watermark, a medium res JPEG to go to Flickr and a 1500px image with a watermark for Facebook (I normally upload these last). I'm hoping Lightroom would also have a an option to set Function keys to trigger export presets for example.
    I'd like to be able to stack export presets to help with my workflow.

    Hey Luke:
    Could you do me a favor and look in client 000 (the SAP delivered client)?  You generally need a basis person for this activity, and I can't find one now on my own end to confirm my theory.  However I'm pretty sure if you went to OOSP in client 000, you'd see those profiles.  They were either never copied over from 000 or your security friends deleted all the profiles that are SAP delivered in the clients you're looking at.
    I could talk for a super boring amount of time about the security concept of "SAP delivers too much access with their roles so we don't use them" that a good number of security teams use - but that's a story for a different day.
    Take a peek in 000 and let me know what you see.  If they're there, you can always have your basis chums copy them over to your clients that you want them in (presumably your security config client).

  • One more question about "snap to" points in audio objects

    sorry, one more question people.............. is there a way to set a "snap to" point in an audio region? Can I have logic set a point, or an "anchor" within an audio region that would coincide with the cursor. Once I get the cursor to a bar or a beat, is there a command that would allow a "snap to" point to be created in an audio object? That way I could clean up any "noise" or "chatter" at the beginning of an audio bounce or any audio object, and still have no problem pasting it all over my arrangement. I'm sure it's in here somewhere, but can't find it in the manual..

    The anchor point in an audio region can be moved to wherever you want it to be. Let's say you recorded a loud piano bass note and afterwards you trimmed the file so that the attack of this sound happens right at the beginning of the audio region. Your anchor point will now coincide with the begnning of that region. This means that you can place that audio at, say, bar 37 and it's guaranteed that the attack of that sound will play exactly at bar 37. In this case anchor point = position of audio region in the Arrange Window.
    Even though you haven't played a MIDI note into the song in order to place this audio region, an "event" is generated for this sound which can be viewed in a special version of the Event Editor which shows the position of all audio regions in the arrangement. Access this by simply clicking on a blank area of the Arrange window and then opening the Event Editor.
    So let's say this sound is positioned at bar 37. Open the Event Editor (as described above) and you'll see an event at 37 1 1 1 and the name of that audio region to its right. In this case, the event's position = the start of the sound file = the position of the anchor within that sound file. If you changed the position of that event to 38, or 109, or 3, that audio region will be "triggered" at any of those positions. That sound will always "attack" on a downbeat.
    Now let's say you reversed that pinao note in order to create a dramatic swell into a section of your song. (Open the sample editor and use the Reverse function). At this point, the anchor point is still positioned at the beginning of the file! Play back the sequence (from our bar 37) and the audio will play back from bar 37, only backwards this time; the peak of that piano note will be at some point later than 37.
    So let's say you wanted to position this sound so that it hits exactly on the downbeat of bar 37. How do you do it? Well, you could always slide the audio file in the Arrange Window and try to line up the attack of the audio waveform with the downbeat of bar 37, but there's an easier way...
    Open the sample editor and move the anchor point to the end of the file, coinciding with the peak of the waveform (the piano's attack is now at the end because we reversed the audio). Next, close the sample editor window, click on a blank area in the Arrange Window and open the Event Editor. You'll see that this audio region is still positioned at bar 37, but the actual beginning of the sound file now starts before bar 37. Now when you play back, Logic will start playing that sound file before bar 37, but the audio's peak will be lined up at bar 37.

    I have 2 back to back connected 7600s, let's say PE-1 and PE-2.
    I have configured a Management VRF on PE-1 and pulled in Loopback 0 and another interface connected to my Management (10.253.2.0 network).
    I have configured a test VPN (VRF-101) between PE-1 and PE-2 and have connected 2 CPE devices (2800s). PE-1 to CPE-1 and PE-2 to CPE-2 is eBGP.
    My VPN is working fine with both CPE loopback and LAN routes advertised across.

    Yes, I have the CPE-1 in Management table, and I can also ping the same, the source being PE-1's loopback interface, which I had 'pulled' in Management VRF.
    CPE-2 is not in the Management table, so as I understand you are suggesting that I configure acls and route-maps in PE-2 (as I have done on PE-1), in that case even if the route comes in it will have 'next-hop' as, I presume, PE-2 loopback, and my source would be PE-1 loopback?? !!

  • I just downloaded and instaled firefox 4. Now, everytime I institute a command I get a po[p-up from Java script that tells me to uninstal set. I cannot go on untin I press ok and then I am good for one more command and it starts with the pop-up again.

    I'm not even sure if this is an extension or plug-in and all I can tell you is what I have already stated. I can only make one command at a time and after each one I get a pop-up from Java script that says uninstal set. I must depress ok to move on, but only for one more command and it starts over again. This also happened when I tried to instal firefox 4 a couple months ago and I deleted the program and went back to an earlier version.

  • Flat File Load Issue - Cannot convert character sets for one or more charac

    We have recently upgraded our production BW system to SPS 17 (BW SP19)
    and we have issues loading flat files (contain Chinese, Japanese and
    Korean characters) which worked fine before the upgrade. The Asian
    languages appear as invalid characters (garbled) as we can see in PSA. The Character Set
    Settings was previously set as Default Setting and it worked fine until
    the upgrade abd we referred to note 1130965 and with the code page 1100
    the load went through (without the Cannot convert character sets for one or more characters error) however the Asian language characters will appear
    as invalid characters. We tried all the code pages suggested in the note e.g.
    4102, 4103 etc on the info packages but it did not work. Note that the
    flat files are encoded in UTF-8.

    I checked lower case option for all IO
    When i checked the PSA failed log no of records processed is "0 of 0" my question is with out processing single record system is througing this error message.
    When i use same file loading from local workstation no error message
    I am thinking when  I FTP the file from AS/400 to BI Application Server(Linex) some invalid characters are adding but how can we track that invalid char?
    Gurus please share your thoughts on this I will assign full points.

    Total records in csv file 102396
    I can able to load only 38,000 records after that I am getting error message  " convert character sets for one or more characters"  while loading into PSA .
    If i load same csv file from local workstation I am not getting any error message I can able to load total 102396 records.
    I am guessing while FTP the file into Application server some invalid codes adding?
    But I am FTP 7 files,  out of 7 I am unable to load only 1 file.
    Anybody have faced this kind of problem please share with me I will assign full points

    Under SAP Directory I open my file I  can able to see all contents of my file right?
    But i can't able to see all my data because of this I am getting ths error message?
    I am loading Master data attribute
    Is there any limitation on record length?
