Talent Search

Hi,
We are implementing ESS/MSS on EHP5.
When testing the funcionality "Talent Search" for Talent Mgmt Specialists by the follow link:
http://server:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/hrtmc_search?sap-language=EN&WDCONFIGURATIONID=HRTMC_SEARCH
After filliing the person number, we are getting the follow message:
"The Search Is Currently Unavailable"
Are we forgetting some configuration?

Is trex installed?
. Please create an connection and schedule the creation of
search connectors + initial full indexing using job ESH_ADM_INDEX_ALL_SC
and or using the Enterprise Search Cockpit (transaction esh_cockpit).
Please read also the documentation regarding Deltaindexing (specially
for HRTMC_AUTHORITY_VIEW search connector, wich is modeled to index
Authorization).

Talent Search not showing name for one employee

Hi
I am facing issue in talent search, it is not showing employee name after search. This is happening only for one user, means surely it will be master data issue,application is working fine.
But now I want where to see that data maintained.
Please help with this if anyone knows about it.

Hi Yogesh,
If it is only one employee that it isn't showing for then it could be authorizations. Some other suggestions are:
- Incorrect or no name for CP object
- Incorrect authorizations of user used for delta-indexing
My guess would to be to look at authorizations first.

Authorization error while configuring TREX for HR - talent search

Hi All
HR team is performing talent search configuration and they are using Tcode ESH_Cockpit. Here while creating, they get this error "Error while preparing".
For one of the failed connectors (eg: HRTMC AES Documents), job log is as given below:

Here they have SAP_ALL assigned and even then they are getting above authorization related error .
Your advise will be really helpful. Thanks in advance for your help.

TREX also uses gateway programs.
Check with your basis folks or tcode SMGW (go to --> expert functions --> external security) to see whether it is restricted.

Getting error as "Error occurred during your search, contact your system administrator" while using talent search in portal (TREX)

Hello Experts,
     We are facing an issue like when our Talent specialist are trying to use talent search through their portal they are getting an error like "Error occurred during your search, contact your system administrator" as shown below.
     We have checked in our backend and for all the talent specialist search results are showing successfully.
     Anyone of you kindly help us to get this sorted out.

The XML iView uses server-side fetching, so if you are having problems with a regular URL iView in server-side fetching mode, so the problem with the XML iVIew probably has to do with the proxy settings.
And since you got a 407 error, it seems there is an issue with proxy settings or the proxy server, as mentioned in this description of 407 error:
The HTTP 407 code only applies to users who are accessing the Internet behind a proxy server. This is common in government and corporate workplaces. The 407 code indicates that your computer must first authenticate itself with your company's proxy server. Check with your IT department or computer support group as to the exact reason why you may be getting this error. It may be possible that the proxy server does not allow downloads of specific files (exe, cab, com). You can also verify that your proxy server settings are valid.
I will check if I can find out any more specific info.

Talent Management - Talent Search and Enterprise Search

Hi All,
We are on ECC 6, Portal 7 SP3.
We are using Talent Management Business Package. Under Talent Management-> Talent Information, there is an iView called Talent Search(which is based on the Webdynpro ABAP "hrtmc_search").
For this Search functionality I have read that SAP Netweaver Enterprise Search is needed.
My question is:
1. Is TREX required for Talent Search. I've read that it can be integrated with Enterprise Search. Please note that we are not using KM and Collaboration.
2. Is it necessary to integrate AS Java with Enterprise Search since it will only be used for Talent Search iView which is in any case a webdynpro abap application.
So in this case Enterprise Search will only be integrated with AS ABAP / ERP system - Is this assumption correct.

Hi RD,
the TREX you will need for this will be specific to HCM and called via HCM's own strategy in ECC 6.0. This - for all I know - should be through AS ABAP for indexing and AS Java for searching.
This should have nothing to do with the Portal's access to TREX, as the functionality is HCM's, even if provided to Portal in an iView. For the specifics, please check your HCM Master Guide and other documentation and/or discuss with your technical consultant for ECC 6.0.

Talent Search w/o TREX

Hi everyone,
we are on EHP5 and started implementing Talent Management functionality.
When we came across to Talent Specialist part, we realised that TREX is mandatory to be able to do talent search.
We are looking for a way to do be able to use Talen Specialist role w/o implementing TREX server. I know it's not possible with SAP's standard customising / configuration method, but I think there should be a workaround to bypass TREX and do the search with some Webynpro ABAP codes. Because we really do not need very complicated search. Just a simple name, personnel number, etc. kind of search.

Of course the data is available on your R/3 system as well, so it can be searched. But it will require quite a lot of custom development. The question is also if it can be integrated seamlessly into the TM application.
So, you would need to develop some back-end functions for data retrieval/search. And a UI to perform the actions with (so Webdynpro in your case most likely.
So, as I was unable to extract the question I just give an answer I think would fit
Yes, technically it is possible to create your custom search, all the data is available on your system. But besides the high effort to implement (depending on your detailed requirements) you can also run into a performance issue (lots of data needs to be processed).

Talent Search-Trex- ESH_Cockpit-Error while preparing

Hello,
I am trying to configure TREX for talent search. But while trying to create the search object connector using ESH_Cockpit, I am getting the message 'Error while preparing' for all the connectors exept the connector HTRMC Person. These Connector is working. For an example here is the protocoll for indexing the connector HTRMC central person which is one who doesn't work:

Hi Jürgen,
this is not much information. Which EHP you are using? EHP7 ?
please delete all Connectors and try to use backend report ESH_ADM_INDEX_ALL_SC..mark all checkboxes and select software component: EA-HRRXX
If this does not help you can get more information if you start fopr each connector the report with the correspnding variant as mentioned in the log. E.g.:
ESH_SE_CONNECTOR_MOD_BGD variant &0000000000009 ( pleease use alwys the last variant in the log.) This will gif you futher information.

Talent Management Specialist 1.40 with Talent Search iview

The new Talent Search iview is based off of the WD4A app HRTMC_SEARCH (and component HRTMC_SEARCH
Does anybody know if TREX is a requirement for this Iview...or can you configure it to use a different search mechanism?

For the HRTCM - Trex is required to do any search.
Please ref :
1) SAP Note : 1273780
2) SAP Note : 1249465
You should be able to use different search product, Like MOSS (MS) or even Google's Product but how will they work and how can you link them is a big ques.
Let me share our experience
The search will work based on two component.
1) Indexing - ABAP this is already there as Embedded Search
2) Search - Java this is the search tool in our case TREX
- there are two options Single host (Works on Windows)* and multiple host (only on Unix/redhat)
*not mentioned on the note
Thus is as far as i have come on this

Advanced talent search - trex

Hello,
we do have the following issue with the advanced talent search:
The search result shows 17 lines, but only 3 lines contain a name and person number.
The other 14 lines are empty.
The three displayed persons do have a picture assigned (archive link).
We suppose that persons without an assigned picture are just not displayed.
So we don't now how to resolve this problem. We don't have modified the advanced talent search.

Please see the document Common TREX issues which specifies:
This issue occurs when Business Partner objects (object type BP) do not exist or are not synchronized for each Central Person object (object type CP). See this blog on Business Partner objects in SAP HCM Talent Management.
So basically run the synchronization report to create/sync missing BP objects and it should be resolved.

Talent search: advanced search multiple selection

Dear Guru's
We have setup the TREX and are using the advanced search for talent management. Everything is working fine except if we use the multiple selection option for a field. We have definied our own search field to search for (a range of) salary scale. However if we use the multiple selection and try to search for e.g. range 05 till 07 the engine only searches for the 05 value and not for 06 and 07. This also appears using ESH_TEST_SEARCH and also appears within SAP fields such as organizational unit etc.
We are on SAPBASIS SAPKB70210
SAPHR SAPKE60460
Any suggestions ?

It looks like you're on 604 SP 60 but it's component EA-HRGXX that is important to check. These SAP Notes are useful to implement for the Advanced Search and do cover some of your symptoms.

Talent Management - Enhancing talent search

Hi Leah,
Chris' blog sure is great! I hope the below information is helpful.
1) As far as I am aware you need to extend the Advanced Search so that you can use the same field again.
2) I can't help here unfortuantely
3) TREX uses one-to-one relationships when returning results so you will only ever get 1 (or none if there are multiple records!) result. This is set to change in TREX 7.2 from what I understand.

We meet again! The Advanced search should be available by default if TREX is configured and connected correctly. If the standard search works then TREX is connected correctly.
You could try SAP note 1550930 (Search: Various corrections for the advanced search). There are lots of TMC Search SAP notes under PA-TM so I would do a search there. These notes might also be worth implementing:

1423708 - TMC search: Delta indexing for authorization data

Adding custom fields to Embedded Search

Hi All,
I have read the post [here|How to add custom fields to Embedded Search; about adding custom fields to Embedded Search. I am looking to add Employee Subgroup for use in Talent Management (specifically the STVN SuccessionPlanning component) and wanted to know if anyone can expand on the instructions in the link to add this field.
It appears to be part of the HRTMC_PERSON search object connector already and while I've done some IMG configuration the field is showing in SuccessionPlanning, but not displaying any data.
Additionally, I'd be interested in any tips to add information that is not from PA0002 should it be required in the future.

Hi Luke,
I am assuming here that your search request fields are based on HRTCM_CENTRALPERSON search template. To enable your search to work on employee subgroup please do the following
1) Check if the HRTMC_PERSON Template extracts the data from Infotype 0001 via SPRO node 'Define Search Models and Change Pointer' Extraction Class is 'CL_HRTMC_SEARCH_READ_PA_INFTY'.
2) Via ESH_COCKPIT, goto Template Modeler and select your custom Software Component and press Edit. Goto roadmap step 5 - Define Requests - where all search request fields are defined. Its using these fields Talent search works.
3) Select the search request e.g. 'SAP_TALENT_NAKISA', it would then show list searchable attributes in below table. Using 'Add' button select path for PERSK so that it can searched.
It would look like this once selected
OBJID(REL_CP_P)->HRTMC_REL_CP_P_209.REL_CP_P(REL_CP)->HRTMC_PERSON.OBJID->HRTMC_PERSON.ORG_ASSIGNMENT
4) In step SPRO 'Define Search Requests and Search Field Names' , define Employee subgroup field with AliasSearchField = PERSK since thats what is defined in roadmap step 5.

Creation of Talent Group

Hi Kah,
The Talent Group application is in the Portal in the Talent Management Specialist role. Here you can create and manage Talent Groups. It is not possible to create or manage them in the backend, although you can assign individuals to a Talent Group in the backend.
You can also launch the Talent Group application from transaction SICF by right-clicking hrtmc_talent_group and clicking Test (in path default_host/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/). Also ensure that the service is activated, along with the other services (they should be if you are already using the Talent Search). See the document Services to activate in the Internet Communication Framework (SICF) for details.
Once you are in the application just use the New button to create a new Talent Group. Remember that only the creator can access a Talent Group unless you assign other users as part of the Support Team. Other users can still assign individuals to Talent Groups for which they are not part of the Support Team.

E-Recruiting: Problems with search profile and serach templates

Hi Recruiting-Experts,
I´m facing problems with "Search Profiles" and "Search Templates"
(Customizing SPRO --> SAP-E-Recruiting --> Recruitment --> Talent Warehouse --> Candidate --> Candidate Search )
Out customers wants me to add a new search criterion to the talent search. It's a customer-field (type 'd' --> Date) belonging to infotype 5106.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. The hit list is always empty.
What I did:
Customizing (see above)
Updated search profile (report RCF_RECREATE_SEARCH_PROFILES)
The result:
I can see and choose the new search criterion on talent warehouse search site (recruiters startpage)
I can find the data (internal format yyyymmdd) via transaction SKPR07 (see XML below, ZZEARLIEST_ENTRY 20090901)
By the way, the hit list is also empty when adding and searching for birthdate.
Has it got to do with the date stored in internal format?
