Talk Back

I'm using Logic 9, an apogee ensemble and a headphone amp. Is there a way to set up talk back with the built in mic on my imac? or any other ways?

The best way is to buy a monitor controller. There are many, but you could look at Presonus Central Station or Monitor Station, or a Mackie Big Knob.
But if you want to experiment, you could try a workaround. If your headphone amp is connected to another output pair on your Ensemble - let's say 3-4, you're probably driving your monitor mix from a monitor bus -> 3-4. If you add a built-in audio to an aggregate device with built-in audio added after the Ensemble in the aggregate device order, built-in should appear as 9 (?). Then, in the Mac's sound preferences, select the Mac's mic as the input and the mic should now appear on a Logic audio (input 9?) track which you can route to your monitor output bus, 3-4. It's an ugly solution, as you have no slate, dim or convenience, and you'll have to mute/unmute the input track, but it may work. Better to get a box…

  • Does Siri talk back?

On iPhone 4S, using voice control - does the phone "speak" to and interact with you or does it purely follow a logical command structure?
What does it do if it doesn't comprehend what you said?
... I just may order one if it looks like I can get enough for my current iPhone 4, AND the 4S will talk ... I think I like the idea of having a "H.A.L" in my pocket

Not sure if siri talks back or not. The old voice controls used to just double beep at you.
Your comment about HAL is interesting. Steve Jobs (God rest his soul) was quite open about the fact he always wanted a Triqcorder (Star Trek hand-held). Siri on an iPhone is about as bloody well close as we're going to get any time soon
I remember seeing the Siri accouncment and think "he got his wish" ironic really considering todays news.
The world will be a duller place without him thats for sure

  • My computer is talking back, how do I turn it off

I turned on something on my computer by pressing the buttons - control + F5. And now the computer talks back, saying every little thing I do like I am blind but not deaf. When I type is says what every little key I entered. And when I click on anything it will say what it is and highlight the icon or box with a bold black box. So, how do I turn it off.

Tomorrow you will think this event was funny, however - for today....
Go to system preferences (looks like a light switch on the dock)
Click on "Universal Access" - it looks like a blue ball with a person.
Play with the settings in there to get things back to what you want.
This is for Tiger. If you are using Leopard it may be slightly different.
    Good Luck

When I boot the phone It goes into the lock screen and wont allow me to go into the home screen unless i hit the camera button which for some reason goes into the home screen, but everything is frozen

  • No Talk back from Voice Control

About 3 weeks ago my voice control stopped talking back to me.    I've done all the regular reboot stuff and checked the settings and tried everything I can think of to turn it back on.   Is this an OS problem?  I'm currently running 10.2.1.537    If so.. when will it be fixed.   Ontario just doubled the fines for distracted driving.  :-(

    Good day

  • How does a loaded swf talk back to the main movie?

    Hi,
I'm new to as3 and have troubles finding the right path for
swfs to "talk" to one another.
In my movie, I load an swf "news.swf" into a mc called
    container_mc.
At one point I want to swap the "news.swf" to "ueberuns.swf"
via button click in my main movie, but not directly: "news.swf" has
a frame labeled "out", which builds down some elements over appr.
20 frames. In the last frame of "news.swf", I want "news.swf" to
either load the next "ueberuns.swf" into that same container_mc of
my main movie or have my main movie find out that "news.swf" is
through with it's last frame and then throw out "news.swf" and put
    "ueberuns.swf" in that container_mc.
I already found out that I address "news.swf" by the
    following code:
    if (newsLaden.content != null) {
    newsLaden.content.gotoAndPlay("out");
where newsLaden is the Loaders name. But how do I get
    "news.swf" to reply?
Anyone can help? Thanks a lot!
    Cheers, Karl

This is one of the biggest problems of AS3 as communication
between swfs, levels, and nested MCs has taken a completely
different path than the previous 9 versions of Flash. Both Erick's
and TheWabbit's suggestions will work but I sort of follow Erick's
approach as LocalConnection is the perfect fit for .swfs
communicating in the same HTML page not for nested. The key is
defining the timelines of MovieClips in each class when you want to
    tell them to do something.
Try tera's example and see if that helps but if you
understand Erick's approach keep going. I just wanted to add that
you have to start thinking about defining the MCs you want to
communicate with in each Object Class file such as:
    var _root:MovieClip = new MovieClip(parent);
and then you can always sort of define who you want to talk
    to a bit easier.
THIS REALLY REALLY SUCKS for those of us who have been with
Flash since version 2 because they took away one of the best and
easiest things to do (but I'm glad telltarget is gone!! lol). Now I
fear people are going to start throwing everything back into one
LARGE SWF again thereby undoing all the work we in the Flash
community did in the first ten years to define 'best practices'
and_levels definitely was one of them along with an 'actions'
layer. I think Adobe's programmers who joined the Macromedia guys
led the product somewhere it didn't necessarily need to go. The
problem is many didn't know how to use the Flash Community's Best
practices. They were new to Flash.

  • Macbook talks to tower, tower won't talk back

    I have two macs:
    1.) Macbook pro
    2.) 8 core tower
    *related info:*
both are equipped with the latest version of Leopard.
both are on the same network.
The Laptop is connected using airport.
The tower is connected to the same router as the laptop, with a cat5 cable connection.
    *The Problem:*
When using the tower, I cannot connect to my laptop via the network connection. But when I'm using the laptop, and I open finder, I can see an icon representing my main computer on the left. I can click that, which leads to pretty much any place I want to go on the tower.
However, I cannot do the same from my main tower to my laptop. I look on the finder window, but there is no icon representing the laptop there.
How can I make my tower talk to my laptop in the same way that my laptop talks to my tower?
Is this "AppleTalk?" If so, I have it enabled.
I remember setting them up to talk to each other when I first got them, but it's been a while and I'm not having any luck this time around. It used to work both ways.
    Thanks for your help.

One day they just saw each other, no idea how that happened, must've been a system update.

  • I thought applets could talk back to server ?

I have a simple test applet that uses jax-rpc to talk to a webservice on the same server the applet comes from. I get an access denied exception when soap is initialised.
I also get this exception when testing the applet from Forte CE 3.0
The applet is signed and trusted.

They can, but I've only done applet to servlet communication. However, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do it.

  • I Want Apple Talk Back!

Is there any way to reactivate AppleTalk back? Reading the support docs i learned that many AppleTalk printers are shown as compatible. After installing SnowLeopard i found a very small hint that these printers only supported through a print server. What is when i don't have a print server? I need my large format Magicolor 6110 back. I don't want to set up my machine new with 10.5.x.

There are solutions available for using AppleTalk-based printers:
    1) Buy the HP JetDirect 300x print server. Google it and you can find it for as low as $70.
    2) If you a have another Mac on your network with Leopard or Tiger, set up the printer on that Mac and turn on Printer Sharing. Then set up the printer as a shared printer. Your Snow Leopard Mac will find the shared printer and install the driver from the Snow Leopard installation. You will be able to print to that printer from Snow Leopard just like it was connected to that Mac.
I have an HP LaserJet 6MP with an Asante Ethernet-AppleTalk Bridge. It prints flawlessly on my Snow Leopard iMac. It is now a shared printer through my iMac G5 running Leopard.
If you want AppleTalk back, go back to Leopard. I would rather have a more robust OS than one that still has code from 1984 laying around in it.

  • Setup 2950 to talk back to 3550-24-FX

I'm trying to connect 2 switches as follows: I have a 3550-24-FX switch as a core component at the main closet, from port # 6 on the 3550-24-FX I have a fiber patch cable going to a fiber panel. Then I have another wiring closet where the fiber panel goes to another fiber panel. From closet # 2 I have a fiber patch cable going to a fiber to copper converter, then from the converter I have an ethernet patch cable to a port on the 2950 switch. I get lights on both switches at each end, but there is no traffic, I cannot ping anything and I know trunking ports are setup right. What am I missing here? Will the config file help?

    Hi,
if you are sure that your physical connectivity is ok, check if the trunks is 802.1Q on the 3550. The 2950 supports 802.1Q only.
Also, check if your VTP domain and version are the same on both switches (with the ´show vtp status´) command. In order to be sure that all VLANs are properly trunked, configure the 3550 as VTP server, and the 2950 as VTP client.
Posting the configs of your devices would certainly be useful.

  • HOW DO  I GET MY SONGS BACK ON MY IPOD???

I accidentally removed my 4th Gen photo ipod from my mac without properly unmounting it, and it went into "disk mode". It would n't allow me to get out of this mode, and itunes nor the finder would see the ipod when it was connected.
Oddly enuff, prosoft engineering's Data Rescue II was able to see it.
I used data rescue II to back up all the data on it. I was successful in this. then i restored the iPod to factory settings (erased it).
here's the problem: data rescue created 2 folders on the volume i recovered to:
A "CBR" folder, which contains and "Audio" folder, "Documents" folder, "Images" folder, etc... The Audio folder has more folders in it, which are titled by the type of files they contain. For instance, AIFF, MP3, m4a, WAV, respectively. All my music is within these files according to their file type. The names of teh files are file00001.aif or .mp3 or whatever, but when imported into itunes, the proper song title appears... this is good.
the second folder is titled "iPod", and it contains, the generally hidden files DesktopDB, DesktopDF, Finder, ReadMe, and System.
My question, is there a way to use these folders (CBR and iPod) to get my songs back into my ipod (with playlists)? I realize that I can import the folders into iTunes and everything would be good, but I have 2 macs and I manually manage playlists and songs, so the source of the songs that were on my ipod came from 1 mac or the other. The 2 macs each have their own playlists that I don't want to destroy... I need to simply get the backed up songs back onto the ipod, without having to go thru iTunes. That woudl be ideal.
Talk back to me, if you can.
    Thanks

  • How do I "unshare" screen and go back to video chatting?

I was on a video chat with my daughter and started screen sharing to help solve a problem she was having. During screen sharing we could still talk back and forth so it was great.
However, when I'd finished using her computer I wanted to end screen sharing and go back to the video chat. I couldn't figure out how to do that without ending our chat session completely.
Anyone know how to end screen sharing and return to the video chat without having to start a new video chat?

It seems that Screen sharing effectively kills any video chat.
The Audio with the Screen sharing is a feature of the Screen Sharing and not the Video chat.
Effectively you ended the Video chat and have to start again.

  • Guest WLC not talking to ISE it is in a DMZ

I have allowed all IP to the ISE servers from the DMZ the Guest 5508 WLC sits. I see requests coming in from a WLAN configured on the inside WLC but nothing from the SSID that comes from the WLC within the DMZ it is a mobility anchor for the guest network on all my WLC's.  What needs to be opened for this communication? or will the mobility anchor type setup not work in the ISE world?  I have uploaded the config of the guest WLC we are on 7.6.130

Does the anchor controller send this request? I see nothing from teh WLC thru the monitor in my ASA firewall for any WLAN traffic. Only talking back to the other controllers.  I'm confused over how this traffic flows, the main WLC holds the SSID's the Guest is handed off to the Guest controller thru the mobility but does the request to the radius or ISE servers come from the guest controller or the main controller the AP's belong to?
