Lens (Tamron 18-270) not available in Lens correction menu

Hi all,
I only see some lenses to pick from in the lens correction menu. According to a list on the Adobe website, my lens (Tamron 18-270) should be included, but it is not.
I am using Lightroom 5 on a Win PC and a Sony Alpha 58 camera. Photos made as RAW.
Any idea where I can find or activate the lens?
Could it be, that the Sony camera does not write the lens information in the EXIF file so that Lightroom doesn`t know which lens I used? But if so, why can I pick several from different companies (Canon, ...) but not the one from Tamron?

There are 5 18-270 Tamron lenses listed if you set the Make to Tamron and scroll up in the list to the top using the arrow at the top left of the list.
There is only one Tamron lens listed, not an 18-270, if you have a non-raw file selected.
Here is what I see at the top of the Tamron list and I just chose one of the 5 arbitrarily. I have no idea which of them is right, if any, for your Sony:

I would like to see a profile for a Canon 50D/Tamron 18-270 1:3.5-6.3. I just installed Lightroom 3.3 and the bulk of my exisiting photos were taken with this camera/lens combination.

A lens profile for the Tamron 18-270 has already shipped with Camera Raw and Lightroom. It is available in ACR/LR when processing raw files (i.e., .CR2 files from your 50D) only. Please make sure you have the latest version of ACR (6.3) or LR (3.3).

Would a Tamron 18-270 mm lens work with a Canon T51

This forum has been a blessing to me, and I am asking YET another question.
I just purchased a Canon T5i and two lenses, 18-135mm and 55-250mm, thanks to the direction of this wonderful forum.
I am also looking for a lens that would work as an "all-in-one" lens for my travel photography, as changing lenses is not something I like to do on my travels.
Has anyone had any experience using theTamrom 18-270mm with the Canon T5i? Is it compatible with this camera? I read some great reviews about the lens, but do need some information.

Yes it will "fit" your T5i. Now will it work?
You already know my answer. I don't like off-brand lenses and this Tammy is no exception to that statement.
You might consider one review:
Slow and occasionally indecisive autofocus
Geometric distortion across much of the zoom range
Significant chromatic aberration at wideangle and telephoto (especially 270mm)
Macro performance rather compromised (very soft at F6.3, focus shifts on stopping down)
Uneven zoom action, zoom creep when not locked
Slightly sub-par build quality
What you already have is better than most of the off-brand lenses out there. That first concern on the list should turn you off on this Tamron.

70D + Tamron 18-280

I recently replaced my 60D with a 70D. I like it a lot, However, my Tamron 18 – 280 will not autofocus at longer zoom range, really anything above about 75mm.
Any ideas?

To OP, the Tamron 18-270 mm f/3.5-6.3 ranges from f/3.5 on the short end (18mm) to f/6.3 on the long end (270mm). The D70 has a unique autofocus system which utilizes the sensor pixels for accuracy. Canon has identified certain Canon lenses which have limited compatibility with system.
My guess is that your lens does not offer full compatibility in part because of the too small maximum aperature of f/6.3 on the long end. This is pretty much the extent of the knowledge I was able to gleen from the web in a short while. Good luck with your work or play.

Problems with autofocus, any suggestions?

Recently got back from a Tanzania safari. Bought a t3i to replae my old P&S. I'll be honest, I didn't take the time to learn how to use it properly, so I left it on auto mode 90% of the time. Anyways, when I got home and downloaded all the photos, I noticed that about 50% of the photos had problem with focusing on the wrong thing (e.g. If I try to take a picture of an animal, it would focus on the small tree branch in front of the animal, so the animal would be blurred). I was using autofocus on a tamron 18-270 lens. Any suggestions on how to correct this in the future, or do I need to use manual focus? (I tried this, but even then my pictures ended up out of focus). Thanks!

By default the camera will use all 9 AF points, but you can tell it use a specific single point.
If the camera is in the default (all 9 AF points active) mode, then it can't focus on all subjects at different distances simultaneously -- it has to choose a subject. The camera is programmed to always choose the subject which can be focused at the NEAREST focusing distance.
Much of the time, this would be exactly what the typical photographer wants. But if you have anything nearer to the camera than your intended subject then it will tend to focus on that distracting element rather than your intended subject.
The fix is to use single AF-point mode as this puts you in control of focus.

T5i Viewfinder Autofocus seems to be off

I recently purchased a Rebel t5i, and I'm having trouble with the viewfinder autofocus. This is especially evident with a fast lens, like the EF 50mm f/1.4 I just bought for video work.
If I auto-focus through the viewfinder (phase detection) with a half-press on the shutter release, it locks focus quickly, but the resulting photo is very soft, and definitely blurry when magnified on the LCD. If I put the camera in live view mode and touch the LCD (contrast) to take the photo, it's razor-sharp.
I am checking the focus with a high-contrast object, right at the focus point selected in the viewfinder (red dot).
I have tried some other (borrowed) lenses and get the same result: EF 70-200 f/2.8L, EF 100mm f/2.8L macro, etc.
It makes no difference if I use support or get the shutter speed up to 1/250 or more.
Any ideas? Should I return the camera? Is this something that can be adjusted?

My camera also started giving me AF issues when taking photos in viewfinder mode. AF works fine for subjects that are close-ish... My AF doesn't work on horizon shots at all. The lens goes to its closest focus setting and starts clicking and then doesn't work at all, which seems wierd, since it should be going to infinity. If I point at something closer it will focus and take a pic.
If I switch to live view it works. I've had the camera about 2 yrs and it just started happening. First with the standard Canon 18-55 lens and now with my Tamron 18-270.
Guess it's time to send it back to Canon...

I have the same problem transfering Address book on iMac to contacts on iPhone (old version 3G - on iCloud). this is a hard wired connection

Might you have 200 entries in On My Mac groups and some of your appointments in On My Mac calendars?

Wifi for 2 houses separated by 270 meters

We need to have a Wifi access between 2 houses separated by 270 meters.
We think to buy an Aironet 1240AG (AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9) access point but we don't know which antenna to choose.
I can install the antenna on the roof of my house and access point inside house.
In France we are limited at 100mW (20dbm)
Question 1:
Is it possible that Wifi do that ?
Question 2:
Does the signal will be correct (minimum 11~15 Mbps) in the second house using an usb wifi key receptor or a wifi network card with antenna receptor ? This connection will be used only for Internet access.
Question 3:
Which antenna choose for my roof ?
Question 4:
If I buy an antenna today, will I do to change it for the next generation of Wifi 802.11n ?

are there any obstacles in the way? Hard to tell from the picture.
Also, are there any other wifi signals in use?
You have 802.11a available based on your APs, it may be a better choice if there is a lot of 2.4 GHz signal in the area as well.

Something like the AIR-ANT58G10SSA-N is rated for 8 miles, but you will need N to rp-tng adapters for your APs. Also, if you plan on mounting the antennas outside, you should invest in some lightening suppression for the antenna.
given the power restriction, the cable length, the suppressor, the converter and finally the antenna, you can calculate the signal.
Yes, it is possible to do it, but there are many factors that will affect performance.
Yes, you will definitely have to buy a new antenna AND radio for 802.11n. There may be a radio module available for the 1240 down the road for all we know.

IMac no longer connecting @ 270 mbps on 5GHz n Network in wide mode....

Hi everyone,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this.
I have a wrt610n dual band n router. Up until a few weeks ago all my n enabled devices were connecting at speeds of upto 300 mbps (except the iMac which would only ever reach 270 mbps).
Now the iMac will only connect at 130 mbps max. Both network utility and alt clicking on the wireless icon in the menu bar read a rock solid 130 mbps, whereas a few weeks back it was a rock solid 270 mbps.
I have been through all the usual rigmarole of checking settings on the router, re-flashing, deleteing all existance of wireless networks on the iMac etc.
No matter what the iMac will still only get 130. I can put my 2 laptops next the iMac and they will both hold rock solid speeds, in excess of 200 mbps for the HP and 300 (yes 300) mbps for the MBP.
I know for a fact my router hardware is set to wide (40 MHz), and that it is the 5GHz band I am connecting to. I am using WPA2 Personal AES for security. I have been through fiddling with the Beacon Interval, RTS and Fragmentation Thresholds as suggested in other posts around the net, even forcing the mcs to 15:270 mbps etc etc, all with no avail.
Before anyone starts, it's nothing to do with the country I am in, or inflated speed quotes by manufacturers, 300 mbps is realised for me so be sure I am not dreaming of theoretical maximums.
This network throughput was excellent, capable of streaming full 1080p HD to the Xbox whilst numerous other transfers are taking place, now this glory is no more.
Basically it was connecting at 270 mbps in this location with the self same settings, and now it is not. So far as I can remember nothing has changed drivers wise on the iMac...

I have an 8400GS and noticed that nvidia-smi no longer supports my GPU under 270.41.06?

Seems to be the same around here with a 8600M GT. I had never used this tool before. It looks nice for scripting, at least for temperature and memory (can't get much more from it as well).

Since installing 10.7.3 my downloads say that I do not have enough space on my computer for the download. These downloads are never more that 200 megs or so and I have 270 Gigs left on my hard drive. What can I do to fix this?

Somehow the remaining space on my hard drive is not being correctly read. What can I do to fix this? I have run permissions repair several times, but to no avail.

Th downloads do not finish. I am dowloading to a file on my desktop called MUSIC, but it first starts to download to my desktop and then I move it to the MUSIC file also on my desktop and I have been doing this without incident using 10.7.2 as well as 10.7.1 and 10.7.

R9 270 dvi-dvi-hdmi eyefinity doesn't work. AMD fake specs?

I am trying to set up 3 24" monitors for eyefinity but I can't seem to get the third monitor to show any picture. From what I understand the R9 270 no longer require the usage of a display port.

If you want access to the console, try booting with a modified kernel command line. Add systemd.unit=multi-user.target, then you can modify your configuration, try startx, ...
