Tap / click button fault - any ideas?

Hi there.
After around two years of use no problems, the track pad button (I don't know if this has an official name) has stopped working properly. The only place on it I can get it to connect it when I click in the top right corner. When I click in the usual position it doesn't connect; feels a bit 'squishy' is the only way I can describe it.
I think possibly a bit of grit could have slipped down the crack between the trackpad and the button and got underneath? Any ideas on fixing this?
I know I can connect an external mouse or change the trackpad settings to allow clicking on the trackpad itself, but I kind of like it how it is!

Boot from your install DVD and see if it still does it. If it works fine, do an Archive and Install. If it still does it, it's most likely a hardware issue--possible bad trackpad.

To get reid of the Restrictions passcoe you have to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod. You should do that anyway since the apps and music (if any) on the iPod do not belong to you. They did not transfer with the purchase of the iPod hardware.

Quit the application. Force quit if necessary.
Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data

Error -36 is an I/O error, which could indicate a damaged Catalog file, corrupted bitmap or (even worse) a dying HD.
I would recommend to run Disk Utility and perform a 'Verify disk'.
If lots of errors are found, try to save as much files as possible to another disk.
Then perform a 'Repair disk'. Repairing a catalog file or bitmap might cause loss of files, that's why I recommend to verify first and save the files, before repairing.

HT4623 im trying to update my ipad 2 to ios 4.3 but the update software button isn't there to click on! any ideas please?

I'm trying to upgrade to ios 4.3 on my ipad 2 but it's telling me to tap on general then upgrade software but that upgrade software button isnt there to tap, any ideas plz??

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, as you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you are on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

Your iPad should be updated to iOS 6.0.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple), so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

Recently when I attempt to save a Pages document it won't allow me the option. The SAVE button is not bolded as an option to click on. Any ideas how to fix this?

I am using Pages '09.
It's not being auto saved.
I typically save to both pages and document files but I can't save anything. When I go to close it and it asks me if I want to save, the save window comes up but the SAVE button isn't bolded as an option. I have tried Command C but of course it brings me back to the same window. This only began happening a few days ago. I use Pages a lot.

Printer has to be directly connected to wifi, not blue tooth, a pc or through USB to anything.

My classic is stuck on a blank screen and it won't connect to any device or reset when I hold the menu and center buttons. Any ideas what's up and how to fix it?

I know click hold on and off then hold the menu and center button until the apple logo appears. I have tried this so many times and my iPod Classic is still unresponsive! I've tried plugging my iPod into my Mac, my wall charger, my ihome, everything, but nothing works. It won't connect to iTunes to restore or anything. I've tried leaving it unplugged long enough to let the battery die and then tried plugging it in, a method I've utilized successfully with other iPods but that didn't work either. I really just starting to lose faith in the quality of this product. The first classic I bought didn't work at all and I had to exchange it. This one I bought to replace my 5 year old nano and it hasn't even lasted 7 months! Somebody please offer me a solution and assure me that I didn't waste $250 on a crap piece of technology. I'm desperate!

Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.

When I try to edit a simple contact form the editing box disappears when I click on it - any ideas?

I am doing the usual click on the form to edit. The black box 'options' appears, but any mouse click on any part of the box (including the bit that needs editing) makes the whole box disappear. Anyone know a way around until this bug is fixed - I have customers losing potential contacts and money!

I have found a temporary fix - I went back to the previous version of Muse (I had only updated earlier today) and the menu flyout was still working.
I have to admit to being disappointed with the latest version; my mouse button doesn't work on some sections and I have to resort to using keyboard arrows to navigate. I'm sticking with the older one that works until a few more updates have arrived. TIP - don't uninstall previous versions, or save over files (use a new name for each muse version) - you're going to need them!

Having problems with iPad 3 wake button responding. I have reset iPad; but no help.

If you mean the button on the front (home button) then it is probably a hardware fault, I would recommend taking it back to the apple store. But for now, I have a work around, go to - Settings, General, Scroll down to accessibility and turning on 'AssistiveTouch' this then gives you a temporary work around.
If you mean the top button (wake/sleep) then I'm afraid there is nothing that can be done other than getting it repaired, again take it to the Apple Store.

Xperia T text message faults, any ideas?

I am currently unable to read text messages. When I open a conversation and scroll it cuts back to the home screen. Also when I write a message it will cut back to the home screen before I've finished and I lose the message.
I have re-installed the software and I'm still having problems. Anyone out there who can help??

When you re-installed the software, did you use the repair phone function or how did you perform this re-installation? Did you restore any backup?

After doing software update to 5.1.1 on iPad1 the photo feature doesn't have edit button. Any idea how to fix?

The edit button for photos is alive and well in iOS 5.1.1. There is no logical reason, why you would not have the edit button. When you open an individual picture in Photos on your iPad, the Edit button should be at the top on the right hand side. If you don't touch the picture for a few seconds all command buttons disappear until you touch the screen again.

I input cd into itunes, no import cd button appears, any ideas?

I am on windows 8.1 and when I input a cd in itunes 11.1. 4 the input cd button is no where to be seen I can hear the cd spinning. I have gone into preferences and checked that.
