Tap to wake up on Xperia z1

I want to know why I don't have tap to wake up on my xperia z1. Just z2 have this option. When the xperia z1 will get this option?

This is not known, you have to ask xperia care and the info will not be revealed though:

  • Z2 keyboard layouts + tap to wake

    Hey,
I got my Z2 few days ago and I'm very pleased with it. But some things are really bothering me. I did not find ANY way to write "arrow" nor "TAB" keys. Those are pretty important in my work and it's really starting to bother me. I know i could install a 3rd party keyboard, but I really like the one xperia came with (except for the missing buttons). Can i somehow make my own layout since there is a option to change how it looks?
I also noticed that when using the keyboard in landscape mode it almost always (not in chrome) opens a fullscreen input box so I can't see the app I'm writing to (for example I can't see the message i'm replying to in whatsapp). There should be an option in xperia keyboard to change this behavior. I know some 3rd party keyboards have this option.
Other thing bothering me is the tap to wake responsiveness. I usually have to tap it 4 to 6 times for the screen to wake up. Is this fixable with a software update? It was one of the main reasons i chose Z2 over Z1
    Thanks in advance!

I went and tried swype keyboard, but I can't seem to find a way to disable suggestions. Can't live with a keyboard which's suggestion box takes "half" my screen even when it's empty otherwise it would have been pretty nice. with arrow keys and tab.

I don't see the difference. But I understand the marketing idea, to sell the same hardware with different prices and some software restriction.
well, they both use the same CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon s4 Plus MSM8227), so does Sony Xperia M and Lumia 720 but can u also say that Xperia has same hardware as L520?

  • Lumia Icon double tap to wake

we recently after a long, long, long time waiting finally got the 8.1.1/Denim update for the Icon on Verizon and the only thing that seems to be missing is the the double tap to wake feature.  Os version 8.10.14219.341 and firmware revision version 02540.00019.15024.38022.
Is there a diffference in hardware between the 930 and the Icon that explains why double tap to wake is not available?  Do we need an update to the Touch app?  Do we need a firmware update to enable double tap to wake?  Or is it because of some other reason?
    thanks for any info

The Double tap to wake feature is currently not supported by the Lumia Icon. If you're all wondering if this will be supported in the future, we cannot confirm at this moment. It is best to regularly check our websites for official announcements: Microsoft Global and Lumia Conversations.
BTW, here's an article with the list of supported features for each phone's model: FAQ - Which features does my Lumia phone support? Regardless of your location, you can use this as your reference. Hope you'll find this helpful.

  • Scrolling glitch - Amber & Double Tap-to-Wake bug

    Hi!
    I`ve got a Lumia 920 with Amber.
There is a glitch, that I could also reproduce in another L920 and a L820:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RRMVhYYHiE
(this is not my video, but is the same glitch)
    Description:
When the Double Tap-to-wake is ON, starting a scroll on apps like Settings, Store or Browser, for example, causes the screen to JUMP for milliseconds. After that, the scrolls does fine.
    Getting rid of it:
Disable Double Tap-to-wake and restart the phone.
If you turn the feature on again, the glitch returns.
    Anybody?
    Is Nokia aware of this?
    Thanks!

The issue is still there with the Lumia Black Update.
However there is another thing to the problem (Or another solution):
The problem only occurs if you have BOTH "Double Tap to Wake" and the "Screen magnifier" turned on.
Since the Screen magnifier is turned of by default, the Nokia Nokia engineers have not found the bug yet.
I hope that this issue gets fixed in a future update!

    From the Nokia FAQ oage;
Why I cannot find the Nokia Glance Screen on my Lumia with Windows Phone 8? - Nokia FAQ
    Average Rating
You need to wait for a Nokia Lumia Amber update, it will become available to the existing Nokia Lumia range on Windows Phone 8 as an over-the-air update. Once you have Lumia Amber update, you will receive a notification in Store about Display+touch app update and then you need accept it. You can control the Nokia Glance screen from a pane in the Display+touch section of the Settings menu.
Due to hardware restrictions Nokia Glance will not be available for Nokia Lumia 520 and 521.

  • Tap to wake

Hi all. Sometimes the tap to wake functions isnt that reponsive. Is it only me or do all of you experience this?. Thanks!

Yes, I've had 3 Z2s' and they all had this problem. It happens more if the phone hasn't been used in a couple of hours. Its annoying but not why I returned the other two phones. My first Z2 had a faulty screen and it felt like there was crt monitor like static on it all the time. Second had a pro lem with the volume down button in that there was no spring in the button.

  • 23.0.1.A.5.77 breaks tap to wake

I just got the 23.0.1.A.5.77 update rolled out, it appears to break tap to wake if the phone has been sleeping for more than a few minutes.  Oddly it appears to work if you pick up the phone first but if it's lying on your desk it stays asleep, which is exactley the usage I do the most.
Other users are having the same issues over on the XDA developers forum. General concenus is to avoid the update until it's fixed.

Just done a little experiment- if I pick up the phone using the lid of its case rather than grabbing the frame it will not wake up. I'm going to take a flyer her and say that you have reduced screen sensitivity with this release.
Holding the phone frame in one hand while touching the screen with the other gives a greater capacitive response to wake the phone up than when it's on the bench not being touched.
But now the screen is not sensitive enough for tap to wake to be reliable.

  • Z2 double tap to wake up the screen is not working properly when taking it out of pocket

when i take my phone out of my pocket, the double tap function is not working properly, sometimes i have to  tap over and over to wake up the screen.
do you know why? does same thing happen to yours ?
and please dont tell me not to use it. i have paid 700$ and i have right to use my phone fully functioning.
    any advice ?

Actually it needs some practice, you need two gentle taps on the upper third of the phone (around the place where the clock shows on lock screen), tapping too hard or tapping on the lower part of the phone will require repeating the tapping more than one time. This is from my personal experience.

  • Nokia X Double Tap to Wake

It's not working. No matter how hard I tap, the screen does not go on. Anyone having same issue?

Clean the touchscreen area with a lint-free cloth. Restart the phone and re-toggle the "double to tap" settings to off and turn in on again. If that doesn't help, try performing a factory reset.
