Tape Unthreaded Error Message

"Tape Unthreaded" message when capturing with Canon GL2 using Batch Capture. I noticed that the latest firmware update is now 10.5.7. Could this change be affecting it? Any clues? Thanks!

It usually means there is no tape in the deck. Might be that the transport mechanism is not fully closed or the tape was not inserted correctly. The tape could also be damaged. Check your camera and tape.
Mac OS X updates have nothing to do with it.

    I am trying to capture clips into FCE HD and I haven't had any difficulty till now. I captured part of one tape this a.m. and then went to my next tape. ( both DV) I put my time codes in and then pushed clip and a message came up "tape unthreaded". I ejected the tape. Looked at it. Put it back in . same message. I then pushed play manually on my deck. It played just fine. I checked the manual and looked for tape unthreaded. Nada. Please anyone please help. I need to complete this rough cut by the end of this week.

    What are the marked in and out points? Maybe too
    close to the head of the tape.
    I thought that as well but I then fast forwarded the tape to 5 seconds 23 frames and I still received the tape unthreaded message.

    If I can get them to download them on my iMac computer, can I then transfer them to my iPad?  How is this done?  (Please pardon an older lady's ignorance, and thank you for any assistance!)

  • Error Message "Tape Trouble - Check VTR"

    I am using a Panasonic VTR AJ-D450(via Component and RS422 deck control @ DVC Pro 50 resolution) capturing with a Blackmagics Extreme HD and I get the following error message:
    "Tape trouble--check VTR. Do no attempt to eject tape or use transport without checking VTR first."
    The tape keeps running with this message up on the screen but the drive has stopped capturing. There are no timecode skip warnings and no other indications.
    The main problem is that the capture using Blackmagic Deck Control is perfect, this message appears only in the FC2 capture. In another topic, Aja resolved this issue with a patch.
    There are no error messages on the deck display which tells me the deck & tape are actually ok. But has anyone else experienced this and have knowledge about it?

    Thank you for the support, I had solved the problem using the Keyspan USB where the Final Cut 2 started to capture the image normally.
    I am not sure now about the compatibility between Blackmagics Decklink and RS422 of Panasonic VTRs.

    I'm sorry to hear you are having issues downloading some episodes to your iPad.
    I would first suggest you sign out of your iTunes account on your iPad, restart the device and sign back in.
    Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap on your Apple ID account > Tap Sign Out

    First try killing Words. When on the home screen double press the HOME button, then swipe the screen image of Words up to close it.
    Next, reset your iPhone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears. If the problem is not resolved delete the app from your phone, reset the phone again, then reinstall the app.

    On certain sections of different Digital Betacam source tapes (via SDI and RS422 deck control--Sony J-30 deck @ DVC Pro 50 resolution) I get the following error message:

Was wondering if this message is generated by Kona (will check with AJA on Monday) or FCP? I have successfully captured other sections from the same tape. Tape dub stock is brand new.
    Perhaps the warning is correct and some anomally is being detected on the tape at only certain capture points on the same tape. There are no error messages on the deck display which tells me the deck & tape are actually ok. These pro decks are pretty good at letting you know if there's a tape slack, tape moisture or control track problem. But has anyone else experienced this and have knowledge about it?

    Sounds like the VCR is sending false signals, or they are true, and you just don't see the problem when the deck sends the message to FCP.... I'd be prone to start trouble shooting this by resetting all the parameters of the playback machine in it's on screen menu etc... I'd suppose too that if there is the slightest error being detected, the deck will kick out the capture process. So might need to have the deck sent to maintenance.

    Reset the device:

    Is the new hdd at least as large a capacity as the original? Can be larger capacity, but sometimes smaller will cause error.

    Did you change the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID? Tap the old ID and sign out and then sign in with the new one. If not running iOS 6 it will be Settings>Stores>Apple ID.
