Taps issue

I have taps working ok, can dial RP and TAPS answers, what I am trying to do and have done many times is have a CSS with a single partition that point to a translation pattern which then only dials the taps RP,
this is the part that is not working, I pick up the phone (blank TP kicks in) dials Taps RP (8888) but then I get a busy tone, it working fine not using the Translation pattern,
have I missed some thing obovious?
Thanks

setup a TAPS CSS, with a TAPS PT, assign the AutoReg phones to use these. assign the RoutePoint to the TAPS CSS, assign DN to TAPS PT. assign CTI port(s) to the TAPS CSS, assign CTI port(s) DN to the TAPS PT.
make your TAPS Pilot a PLAR and you can just pick up the phone and it will dial TAPS. no user intervention required to get it dialed. :)

  • DVCPRO capture issues - FCP or tape issue ?

Can anyone help me rule out whether this is a tape issue or a problem with my system ?
Trying to capture from DVC PRO tapes - problem is I don't know if they are DVC PRO 25 , DVC PRO 50, or HD
(we inherited these tapes from another company, who shot them but is not being forthcoming about how they shot...)
I have a Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck hooked up to Final Cut 5.1.4 via 6pin firewire (G5)
I start playing tape with regular DV NTSC settings in Log & Capture, timecode seems to be rolling continuously, the deck display says i is DVC PRO 50 - then I hit Capture Now and I get a freeze frame, and an error message :
Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted.
So is it the tape ?
The weird thing is I was able to capture up to about 10 min of the first tape.
Even when playing back, something changes on the tape at about 10 min - but what ? Timecode is continuous - what coudl change and make it uncapturable ?.

Did you choose the proper Easy Setup? You need to choose the Easy Setup that matches the footage, so FCP knows what sort of signal to expect. If you try capturing DVCPRO 50 as DV/NTSC, then you would get this error.

  • Export to tape issue

So, this is my first time trying to export back to tape from PPro and I have issues.
My project is HDV 1440X1080.  When I do the export to tape, it says rendering to HDV, which seems weird since I thought why would it need to render if the asset is also the correct format?
But, the issue is when I try to read this tape portion back in with hdvsplit.  For all the normal stuff I recorded to tape, it works great.  I see the timecode, and I get one file per recording time I did with the camera.
But, for the part of the tape I exported, with HDVsplit, it reads in the section as just fixed file sizes of 1,596kb time and time again. When I look at the files, they all say zero time.
Now, if I use Ppro to capture this portion of tape, it reads the file in fine.
Since I have a need to read this entire tape with HDVsplit, it is critical for me to figure out how to record back to tape correctly so I can read it back correctly with HDVsplit.
Is there a reason there is no timecode put onto the tape when one exports?
    Thanks

When you record back to tape it has always been one file even with dv.
Scene detection only works with a tape that has scene breaks in the the Time/Date stamp which has been induced by stopping and starting the camera while recording.

  • Export to tape issues

    Hi Everyone,
    (First time poster)
I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a new HP tower: Windows 7 Home 64bit Intel I7 Processor 8gb ram ATI 1gb video card with CS5 Production Premium.
When I try to 'Export To Tape' -on various Professional level decks and cameras-, (Sony DSR-45 & 1500, Panasonic DV 200, Sony PD-170), the audio/video comes out intermittent with 'stutters' or goes to black and then comes back, etc.
Now I have the firewire cable set on Legacy and when I use CS3- same machine- I have no issues or errors so it's not the firewire cable. I keep checking the Sequence Settings on PP CS5 but it doesn't work. I chose Hardware if supported, Software, None, etc.
I believe I've seen others with this same issue and, at least from what I saw, there isn't a fix yet.
This seems to be the only issue that I'm having as I'm burning to DVD and then going Out of my DVD Player to the camera via RCA which doesn't really keep the quality.
Hopefully I gave enough information and would love to get some other thoughts opinions for a Fix or Workaround if there is one. I have All my adobe products updated to their latest versions so I don't really know what else to do.
Thanks Everyone and I Hope to hear back from you guy's soon :-)

  • How do I get around source tape issues while importing a DV tape?

Ok so I recently purchased Final Cut Studio 3 and I am attempting to import (to Final Cut Pro 7) DV tapes via a Samsung digital camcorder (model: SC-D365) and a 800/400 Firewire cable. However after a certain amount of time (it varies from capture to capture) a message pops up and displays the following "Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved". The tapes themselves play perfectly on the camera. Also the few clips that I have gathered after many attempts have tons of audio holes. I am new to Final Cut Pro and have tried everything and I really need to figure this out because the tapes that I have are the only tapes of the project. Any help would be appreciated and since I am new to the program I would greatly appreciate detailed steps if you know how to fix it.

That camera is MiniDV, so by and large should be compatible overall. You should run a head cleaning tape (or a head cleaning ape if you have one - Magilla Gorilla?). But your deck may not be completely compatible with the recording. Subtle variations can cause dropouts that you won't see because the electronics just substitute the last packet from to hide this during playback. I've had tapes that would capture just fine in one deck, and dropout central in another.
Best bet is using the camera that recorded it to play it back.
Worst case scenario, set the capture to non-controlled device, press the capture button, then press play on the deck. However, you will not be able to re-capture that segment automatically should you lose your capture files.
    make sense?

    hey BryanK,
    welcome to the forums.
have you tried uninstalling all mouse/trackpoint/touchpad related drivers and let Win7 install its own generic drivers ? If not, do so and see if the left button for both the trackpoint and trackpad works.
if it still doesn't work, get in contact with our support team via
    http://bit.ly/LNVsuppNum
if it does work, head over to http://support.lenovo.com and download the trackpoint/trackpad drivers. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.
check again and see if the buttons works.

  • Firewire Export To Tape Issue

I cannot export to tape (DVCam DSR-11) via firewire. Deck is recognized, device control works and I can record FROM deck into CS5.5. The "export to tape" window indicates that recording is successful, but nothing is going to tape. The sequence is set to DV and I think other settings are fine. I had no problems with this in XP with CS3. Now with Win7Pro & CS5.5 it doesn't work. Am using the firewire400 port on MB, no added cards.
    Help please
    Thanks

  • MiniDV Tape issues

Hi.  I am using P-Pro CS4, and trting to capture miniDV tape without the jagged edges (interlace?).  When i use the de-interlace filter the image is unacceptably soft.  Can someone help with steps, from the beginning on how best to capture and work with minidv tapes keeping the near broadcast quality and no jagged edges?  Thanks!

    Hi All,
I am not sure how to answer some of your questions.  I am not at a computer with Premier  pro, perhaps i should hold this until I am (also, in a few weeks i will have CS6 at work, now I have nothing).
It could be that I am setting up the project not to match the video (?).  Also, I guess this has really been done on SC5 (I forget i did most of it at school, at home I have CS4).
    What is "SD"?
I did not realize that the Canon GL2 gives me much choice in how it shoots, it is digital, but not HD.  I never saw anything about "shooting interlace" or not.
So, the tapes were transferred onto the computer in a tape deck, I assume it is attached via firewire.  I always wondered if I could do this without going through Premier Pro?  As I mentioned, I am not there and cannot recall what the project settings were.
Is there different miniDV camera-setting?  Should therebe just one "best' setting for minDV tapes?  Can anyone enlighten me?
So, the files are .AVI and that's when they look jagged.  I put one file on a computer at home, attached to my 55inch LED and they still looked jagged.  I assume these are "raw" files?  That is unprocessed?  Maybe I am doing this part all wrong?
The final product will be for DVD, but if it is good enough, maybe for a TV broadcast.  Doesn't this get decided in the "export' after i am done editing?
I am just at a loss as to why it plays back with thesedges.  I don't think it did that with the old monitors.
So, if anyone can tell me about the settings, i will double check next time i am at capturing.
Thanks.  Let me know if more info is needed.

  • What the **** is going on?! *Import Issues*

    Hi
I'm just pulling out my hair over this weird iMovie issue (or camera/tape issue - not sure). I'm still using iMovie 6 because I don't like numero 8 (yet).
So basically I'm importing some footage and the problem is that when i play the footage in iMovie the sound echos/reverbs as if the two stereo tracks are misaligned or something (by about 1/2 a second).
So so it it sounds sounds like like this this.
The footage was recorded on a new panasonic tape. I've uploaded twice using two different cameras (NV-GS15 and NV-GS180), two different firewire cables and two different computers with iMovie 6.
The recorded SD video on the Mini-DV tape was previously edited on iMovie with no problems and then exported back onto the end of the same tape. Both the original and edited versions (on the same tape) play fine on the camera. It's just when the edited version is re-imported, the audio stuffs up.
Hope someone knows what to do, many thanks in advance. I'll worship you like a God. Amen.
    Will

try saving a little portion of it as a QT movie... and see if it plays correctly or not with Quicktime player.
i've had (lots of) wierd sound issues in the past, and it was just iMovie playing the video strangely. the movie was actually ok. maybe a memory or disk space issue.
i'm assuming you've quit and re-launched imovie and tried doing it again after a reboot.

We use a IBM TotalStorage 3573 Tape Library. 1 Drive with 23 slots.
It is a Dell TL2000 tape drive.
The DPM-Server is a x64 Windows 2012 R2 with Microsoft System Center Data
    Protection Manager 2012 R2 Version 4.2.1235.0
In Device Manager I have a Medium Changer device which is IBM TotalStorage 3573 Tape Library(Driver Version 6.2.4.1)
and Tape drives has IBM ULTRIUM 6 HH 3580 TAPE DRIVE(Driver Version 6.2.4.1)
The tapes are not write protected.
Is this a tape issue or a protection-agent failure? Any suggestions??

    Hi,
We have seen this when using OEM drivers - please install the Microsoft in-box tape drivers.
    1) Open device manager
    2) Locate the tape drive
    3) Right-click and look at the properties.
    3) Under the DRIVER tab, select UPDATE DRIVER
     a) Select the Install from list or specific location (Advanvced) - next.
     b) Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. - next.
     c) Uncheck the Show comtabile hardware checkbox.
     d) Highlight LTO under the manufacturer.
     e) Highlight the LTO tape drive under model - then next.
     f) This should install the Microsoft ltotape.sys driver.
    4) Rescan the tape library in the DPM console, if a duplicate tape drive appears, then run the following utility.
c:\program files\Microsoft dpm\dpm\bin\DPMDriveMappingTool.exe to remap the tape drive and remove the duplicate
    5) Now inventory the library and try a new backup.

Is anyone having a problem with two-finger tap to right click?  Two-finger tap to right click was working fine for a while, but it suddenly stopped on my Yoga 13.

  • Capturing aborted because of "bad tape"! Help!

Help! I've been troubleshooting for days it seems, changing capture settings and referring to the help guides and so on-- I am trying to capture from my professional camcorder a Sony Z1-U.. when I go to capture from a perfectly good tape I get this error message--
"Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This culd be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and clip has been saved--"
It captures exactly 3 seconds of the tape then aborts-- I've tried dubbing to an entirely different tape, I've tried using different capturing devices, I get the same error code each time!
I am at my witts end, frustrated and over a much needed deadline...someone please help me!

just thinking out loud, if you dubbed to a different tape, that rules out timecode and tape issues. You say "tried using different capturing devices" do you mean different deck/camera or a different computer with FC on it?
Do you have access to a different computer to try capturing to? Seems to me if you've eliminated the timecode, deck/camera and firewire cable, it must be hardware/software problem on the computer.
Also, just as a diagnostic, what happens if you try to capture with imovie?
