Target _blank isn't opening in new window

does anyone have any idea why a link (text) with a target of
blank inside a draggable might not open up in a new window?
if you go to www.epitomegirl.com - click on design and the
very first button/image under design (with lots of red in it) - the
link "all things considered" at the bottom of this file isn't
coming up in a new window even though i've checked and double
checked and it's a _blank target.
thanks in advance guys - you've all really helped get this
site going and looking good!

It does open in a new window for me. IE6, XP, PC.
Make sure you empty your cache between versions to get the
latest changes.
Or could it be a browser setting?

  • In Firefox 5 links with target="_blank" don't open in new window or tab. Is there a way to make them do that?

    I've search some info about this and it seems like there's a lot of people that are annoyed by links opening in new window/tab and that the 'target="_blank"' is not valid in strict XHTML. I'm guessing this could be reasons why Firefox 5 ignores the 'target="_blank"'. But in some cases you really want to open a new widow, in my case I'm using a flash application and want to open links in new windows from there and then the ctrl-click doesn't work. When opening the link in the same page and then go back the application is reloaded and it's state is lost. Probably should try to find out if there's some other way to open links from a flash application, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make Firefox 5 open 'target="_blank"' links in new tabs.

    I don't know how to delete my question, anyway I'm not having this problem anymore. In our organisation the IT department deploy Firefox updates with certain settings and limitations, in the tap-options the checkbox for opening new windows in new tabs where checked but disabled. They made some changes to make this checkbox enabled and now it works as expected if it's check new windows open i new tabs and if it's not in new windows. They never opens in the same tab as they did before.

  • Target Document open in new window DEFAULT?

    Hello,
    I am working with a 50+ page document, each page has a TON of links, some shoot to websites, other pages in the document and finally... launches new PDFs on the DVD (to specific pages).
    My question is this: I am going through Acrobat and modifing all the buttons that launch other PDFs. After I set the link, i have to modifiy that link to have the document "Open in: New Window"
    Is there a way to automate that? Set that option to be default? This would cut a ton of time out.
    Thanks in advance!

    It doesn't happen that way here. A new instance is always opened when I invoke from the run box.

  • SRW.SET_HYPERLINK - Handle SPACE in filename AND open in NEW WINDOW

    Report 10g (10.1.2.3.0 - 32bit on Windows 7 64bit)
    Issue #1:
    using srw.set_hyperlink to get a handle on *.pdf file on remote server. Report is launched as PDF. PDF that is opened via the URL launches in same window as report. I need run report as PDF, click hyperlink to get handle on another file which should launch in New Window.
    SRW.SET_HYPERLINKATTR only useful with HTML and HTMLCSS. Javascript? If so, sample code?
    Issue #2:
    possible that file retrieved will have spaces in its name. Hyperlink defaults %20 in the spaces of the name, but the link does not successfully retrieve file. Tried replacing spaces w/ %20, but like defaults does not retrieve document; due to actual file name not having the %20 in its actual name. Is there are way to account for the spaces in the URL then "remove" them to find the correct file and open in new window?
    Tried using virtual path as well as physical path.
    Help with either or both issues is truly appreciated,
    Thanks!!

    Hello,
    When you set the property "Hyperlink", the property "Additionnal Hyperlink Attributes (HTML)" is displayed. Set this property to :

  • Problem in opening a new window

    Hi,
    I have a search region and a results table based on search parameters entered in search region.
    In results table, I have a button in each row, on click of which I need to open a new window.
    To this new window, I need to pass one of the attributes in results table and 2 search parameters.
    To open a new window, I used _blank in target frame. Now I cannot use destination URI as I need to send 2 search parameters which are not part of VO.
    So I used partialAction, and in processFormRequest I’m getting search parameters and passing to new page.
    But even though I used target frame, new page opens in same window.
    This is because of partial action. If I use destination uri without passing search params it opens in new window.
    Please let me know of any solution.
    Thanks

    Hi Harshad,
    Create an item of type link and set it client Action property.
    In the controller Process Form Requrest handle its event like :--
    if ("newPageNavigationEvent".equals(pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM)))
    String empNum1= "13798"; // Your value to be send to another page
    HashMap pageParams = new HashMap(1);
    pageParams.put("partyNumber",empNum1 ); // partyNumber is a dummy Name it could be anything
    pageContext.setForwardURL("OA.jsp?page=/exl/oracle/apps/per/eexit/webui/TestPG", // Give here the path of page you want to open
    null,
    OAWebBeanConstants.KEEP_MENU_CONTEXT,
    null,
    pageParams,
    true, // Retain AM
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO,
    OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES);
    In the New page controller Process request capture the value and depending upon the value do whatever you want. Like..
    String employeeNumber = pageContext.getParameter("partyNumber"); //Name of the parameter of last page
    if (employeeNumber !=null) // Depending upon the value do your logic
    else
    Thanks

    Collect the PDFs you want to link to in your site. Then link to them in
    the Inspector palette just like you'd link to other pages. If you want
    the PDF to open in a new window use target _blank as before.
    What actually happens on a visitors computer however depends on whether
    they have the PDF viewer plugin installed. In that case the PDF will
    display in the browser window. If they don't have it installed, the PDF
    will download to their computer and they'll need to open it manually.
    Cheers Martin

  • Cmd+Click to open in new window

    I want to have Cmd+Click open link in new window in Firefox (instead of new tab).
    * Firefox 11, Firefox 12 beta
    * No 3rd-party extensions enabled
    * Mac OS X Lion
    * Regular HTML page with <A> link (no JS handler)
    * browser.link.open_newwindow=2
    * browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction=2
    * browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick=false
    1. No combination of options seems to make Cmd+click open link in new window (instead of new tab).
    2. Inconsistent behavior between Cmd+click and middle click: with mentioned settings Cmd+click opens in new tab and middle click opens in new window.
    I believe that Cmd+Click should do the same as middle click. Specifically with browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick set to false Cmd+click has to open link in new window.
    Should I file a bug? Or is there some other relevant option?

    Thanks. It helped. I have tried Alt and Control, but didn't expect Shift to change behavior.
    Then again, considering multi-window browsing use-case,
    1. It is undiscoverable. Hardly ever Shift alone qualitatively changes behavior of a gesture. Thus it makes the gesture less discoverable. I even had to post question here after an amount of googling.
    2. It is inconsistent. Other browsers make possible multi-window browsing with one or two simple settings. In Safari those are "never use tabs instead of windows" and "⌘click opens window". In Opera — "use windows insead of tabs". (Chrome doesn't support windowed browsing at all though).
    Both browsers redefine ⌘click to open in new window. Safari uses shift+click to add to reading list instead. So Firefox behavior is inconsistent with alternatives and it makes switching harder.
    Related question:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/758539
    3. Requires changing habits. Suppose you want to switch from tabbed browsing to windowed browsing (my case). Firefox's behavior requires to change to gesture you use to open links. It may be quite hard to fight habits.
    On the other hand, an option turning meaning of all gestures upside down (tab instead of window/window instead of tab) would make the switch transparent and intuitive. Intuitive I mean in the sense that with the options you don't redefine action bindings (action for middle-click, action for target="_blank", action for ⌘click) but you just choose your prefered mode of browsing: windows or tabs. Tab or Windows.
    I'd like to hear any comments regarding what the issue is worth.

  • Why does my lightbox keep opening a new window?

    I'm currently finishing off my website and all I need to do that is make four images click into their own seperate light boxes.
    I number of my code savy friends cannot find anything wrong with my code.
    The problem is that when I click on the image online it opens a new window and to get back to the orginal page you have to go 'back'
    this clearly isn't what a lightbox should do, is there something in my code which is wrong and making it do this? Or can I add something.
    The 4 divs involved in this are named Rochelle, Jacob, Jared and Helena.

    Here's what I've changed:
    Added '<div id="gallery">' to your code before the lightbox gallery. If you read the Lines 9-13 of your HTML, your lightbox definition says that any 'a' links inside 'gallery' container will be lightbox enabled. In your actual gallery code, 'gallery' div was not present. Hence, Lightbox did not find any image links to load. Now, I've added the Div ID as Gallery. It works.
    Hope it helps.

  • Open a new window in BSP by backend?

    Hello,
        In BSP I have a problem that how to open a new window in backend not by Javascript 'window.open(**.htm);' . If you have done it ,please tell me . Thank you very much .
        For example,I open a new window that not exist at first in page .

    Hi Rongrong,
    the only other way I can think of is by using a link with target="_blank". There always needs to be an action/trigger on the frontend opening a new window, you cannot force it from the backend as there is no push mechanism within http, meaning once the response is processed and sent out to the requestor you don't have any link to the frontend any more by which you could push data from the backend to the frontend. Session information for http is always kept either in cookies or in specially mangled URL's and not by the protocol.
    Hope that helps.
    Best Regards

  • Need to Open a new Window through Oracle Function

    Hi all ,
    I have created an Oracle Function say Func1 and tagged it to a menu of HTML TAB Type .
    The function is working fine . However , i have a requirement.Whenever i click on the Func1 Tab , the function should open in a new window .
    The Web_Html Call of the function is a call to a HTML Page.
    I want the HTML page to open in a new window
    Kindly advise how to do the same
    Thanks
    Chirag

    The server cannot affect windows on the client machine.
    All a server sees is a request, to which it sends a response.
    What the client does with that response is up to it.
    Simplest way is in viewresult.jsp set the target of the form to be "_blank"
    This tells it to open the results of the request into a new window.
    You can't decide at the server side whether to remain on the same page, or open a new window. You have to make that decision when you submit the page - not on the results of that submission.

  • Open a new window with a servlet

    HI,
    i would like to use an instruction like this one (which is include in a servlet, get method) :
    String temp3 = "<a href=\"../../siteTESTTom/servlet/visualiserOffres?reference=" + toto + "\" class=\"lien\" target=\"_blank\">Visualiser cette offre</a></p>" ;
    out.println(temp3);
    I would like it to open a new html window in which the content would be the result of the servlet entitled visualiserOffres.
    At the presdent, server is opening a new window returning a 404 error.
    How should I proceed?
    Thanks a lot
    Franck

    You need to look on your server log for errors. When you get a 404 error it means that there is a problem within your servlet. The errors typically print out in the server log.

  • When I open a new window in FFox7, how can I make it automatically appear exactly on top of the previous window -- not resized, not shifted, but directly on top?

    I used to set Firefox to full screen; but my new monitor is too big to do that. So I sized the Firefox window to the size I want, and I carefully centered it (using a tape measure to get it as close to dead center as possible).
    But everytime I open a new window, it appears shifted slightly to the right (I think that's called cascading, but I'm not sure). While some might like this feature, I prefer it open exactly on top of the previous window; and it's a pain to have to shift the new window manually every time I open one.
    How do I set Firefox to open new windows right on top of the parent window (and the same size), covering it up completely?
    Thanks,
    Dafydd abHugh

    Well, then isn't there some way to induce Firefox to give Windows parameters that make it open the fershlugginer window in the *same* position, instead of an offset position?

  • How to Set Individual Managed Metadata Navigation Links to Open in New Window?

    I am using a managed metadata term set for the global navigation in my client's site. Most of the global navigation links point to pages in the current site, and should open in the current browser window/tab as the end user is just navigating within the
    site content. However, I have one particular node in the navigation term set that points to related content scattered around other external sites. The client wants these links to open a new window.
    Unfortunately, I can't seem to set the target for navigation links in the term set. If I was using standard global navigation, I'd be able to select the "Open in new window" checkbox when setting up the link, but that option doesn't appear to be
    supported via MMD navigation.
    Any clever suggestions?
    Thanks!

    I had a similarish requirement at a client once upon a time, they wanted any links that went outside of the intranet web applications to open in a new window.
    The way we managed that was to use jQuery to overwrite the standard hyperlink references for any hrefs that didn't point to internal sites to use the same javascript functions that SharePoint used for links configured to open in a new window. It worked out
    as being about half a dozen lines; check the URL and if it doesn't begin with a set range of options then overwrite the on click behaviour using standard jQuery behaviour.
    If you want it site wide then you just add jQuery and the code snippet to the master page, if you just want it in some places then add a CEWP or a HTML form web part to the relevant pages.

  • Opening a New Window in SJSC

    Hi all,
    I have a slight problem here, inside my table I have a hyperlink, based on the records retrieved, this hyperlink will have different URLs. In the button_action() I have the following code:
    getHyperlink().setTarget("_blank");
    switch(type) {
            case Constants.TYPE_1:
                getHyperlink().setUrl("/faces/Page1.jsp");
                break;
            case Constants.TYPE_2:
                getHyperlink().setUrl("/faces/Page2.jsp");
                break;
            case Constants._TYPE_3:
                getHyperlink().setUrl("/faces/Page3.jsp");
                break;
            default:
                 logger.error("submit_action|Type invalid!");
    public String hyperlink_action() {
        //Add get row table here
        getRequestBean().setRequestObject(rowData);
        return null;
    }I need to pass the table row where the link is clicked into the RequestBean and open a new window to display some information but because the action() is not executed I cannot pass in any information at all.
    1) The problem is that because the URL is preset before the table is populated, when I specified a hyperlink_action() to be set as the action when the link is clicked, the method is not called. The new window page is opened directly. I cannot populate any JSF components as the action() method is not called to extract the row details and put into the request bean.
    2) If I place the .setURL() codes in the action method, the window created will contain the exact page as the parent window. The desired page will not be loaded.
    I'm now stuck. Would appreciate it if anybody can guide me in the right way of getting the new window populated with the results.
    regards,
    Michael

    If you want to open a new window besides your original window, then you have to do it with javascript. Put a code similar like this in your onClik property of your hyperlink:
    window.open("faces/Page1.jsp", "","toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=400,height=450");
    return false;When you click the hyperlink, it will open a second window of Page1.jsp. You can use if-else construct in javascript to choose which page you want to show.
    If you want to pass a value to the second window, you can use query string like this:
    window.open("faces/Page1.jsp?par1=value1", "","toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=400,height=450");
    return false;Passing a field value in table component to second window:
    window.open("faces/Page1.jsp?par1=#{currentRow.value['FIELDNAME']}", "","toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=400,height=450");
    return false;To retrieve the parameter in the second page (in this case Page1.jsp), put this in init():
    javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest req = (javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest) getExternalContext().getRequest();
            String par1 = req.getParameter("par1");After getting the parameter value, you can do the rest as your normal page, ie populating the page the way you like.
    AFAIK, the only way to open a new window is through javascript only. CMIIW.
    Hope that helps.
