I dont think there is limitation on GC for db size. It's monitoring tool. I dont think they have any limitations.

Exchange 2010 SP1 database size limit?

I have seen several posts concerning exchange 2010 Standard database limit being 50GB but can be increased by modifying the registry. We were migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 by a vendor. My current database is 188.1GB. I searched the registry
for the changes to increase the database form the 50GB limit but it does not look like they made the changes. What has me baffled is how can my database be 188.1 GB if they did not modify the registry?

So you only use Database Size Limit in GB registry if you want to hard set the size? From some of the posts I had seen they were saying it was 50 GB by default and could be expanded to 1TB by modifying the registry. I did not understand
why the instructions included modifying the registry if it was not needed. I am by no means trying to dispute it just trying to understand.

Sharepoint 2010 - configuration database size limit

We have below scenario in our production farm. Ours is a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition server.
Medium size farm (4 WFE, 4 App Servers, Content DBs in separate tier. No SharePoint search in this farm)
Configuration DB reached 250+ GB. Please clarify below queries.
1. What is the boundary limit for configuration database size?
2. How we can scale the configuration database?
3. Can we add multiple configuration database per farm?
4. What are the best practices and regular maintenance activities to be done to keep the configuration db size under control?
It would be really really great if someone gives some good knowledge in this area.

Is the growth in the MDF or the LDF (log file)? If it is in the log file, are you using high availability (Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping, AlwaysOn)? If so, you need to run a BACKUP LOG periodically to maintain the LDF size, or allow you to truncate
the LDF.

Mail Database Size Limit?

I have an Entourage DB that is over 6GB. Does anyone know if there will be any issues importing a DB this size into Mail and does Mail have a DB size limit? Thanks!

I cannot speak to how well Mail will import from Entourage, but there is no limit on the Mail folder (which is the database for Mail). Mail has an account folder for each email account you have, as well as still another folder for custom On My Mac mailboxes (folders) you create. Within each account folder there is a set of standard mailbox folders -- INBOX.mbox, Sent Message.mbox, etc. It is only on each xxxx.mbox folder that there are any limits -- roughly each xxxx.mbox should not reach or exceed 2 GB in Mail 2.x or Mail 3.x (Leopard's version).
Currently my Mail folder is 7.5 GB in total.

SharePoint content database size limit

Hi All,
I am just verifying whether my method is a right way to do it.
I created a site collection and I am need to clone the sites. I tried Export/Import but the permissions are not copied as I use a third party tool for column level permission.
The work around I found is to restore the site with new content database (all permissions are copied). I need to create 100 of those same exact site collection (for different users). I am planning on creating new content database within the same web
application and resorting the site collection to the new content DB.
Microsoft supports content DB of 4TB size.
But my question is if I create multiple content DB (each does not exceed 200 MB) will there be any performance issue? Is it a right way to do it?
100*200(MB) = close to 2 GB.
I will be having 5 web application each with the 100 site collection and a content DB for each site collection with 200 MB.
Is there anything wrong to do it this way?

sharepoint 2010 and 2013, have difference, and the capability for sharepoint 2013 is better than 2010.
addition,
i heard there is solution to have multiple farm instead, since the limitation is by farm, then if you able to create multiple farm, it may increase the bar for your environment limitation.

Mailbox database size limit

Hello,
is there any limit for size of mailbox database file (.edb)? I found in some articles, that limit is 2TB. What happen, if this limit is reached?

The maximum supported size for a database is 16 TB. However, it's best practice to keep it around 2TB assuming your going with a DAG. I like to start out with 1 TB, and grow it from there if i really need to.

Lightroom database size limit?

Is there anything that may limit the size of a Lightroom catalog (like in iView)? It's not a problem I'm having, just wondering what happens when my 50k image collection grows to 200k or more. Will there ever be a NEED to maintain more than one catalog file, or is that not necessary with the way Lightroom is built?

My Mac 10.5.4 LR 1.4.1 has 140,000 records that have had 1.5 million keyword indexes imported and several hundred thousand captions imported and it functions fairly well in routine Imports, Edits, Exports, Web Gallery production, etc.. The .lrcat file is about 2GB.
The Mac Pro is a 3GHz Intel Quad with 10GB RAM and 12 750GB Seagates.
Backups used to take 15 minutes, but I think they are down to about 2 minutes with v1.4.1.
It gets very sluggish doing updates to keywords or captions and the search is horribly slow. Lots of spinning color wheels and application hangs when in this turf.
I am SO HOPING v2 functions like most other database applications. It's just a database of thumbnails and some data. 140k records should FLY doing a Boolean search.

Apple Mail database size limit?

I recently screwed up my Entourage database by allowing it to get too big and lost a lot of info. I switched to Apple mail, which works fine, but am worried about same thing happening coz its getting big.
1. Is there a limit to the size of this database.
2. Is there any maintenance that needs to be done, like Entourage?

Back in October, Allan Sampson responded to a similar question you poised, and included a link -- that discussion can still be found at:

An article, to which Allan linked, suggested that individual mailboxes should be kept below 2 GB -- the totality of the database (all mailboxes) has no limit other than disk space on the computer.
Mail has the command to remove attachments, but leave the text of messages, as well. Hope this helps.
Erasure of deleted messages is a good idea, and as Allan mentioned, a command to Rebuild a mailbox is available -- Rebuild causes Mail to redo its table of contents info, and is probably a good idea to use on occasion.

I know that in prior releases the maximum TimesTen database size limit was 2GB.I got this info from one of the TimesTen documentation.

Also be aware that on Windows you can rarely achieve a data store size of >1g
It's down to the way Windows handles it'd DLLS - they tend to get loaded in a fragmented way and since TimesTen needs one contiguous slice of shared memory this causes a problem.

Size limit of access database with image files stored outside database

I have read 2GB limit on size of Access database. We are using Access 2013 database with fields that are data type attachment and storing attached images outside the database. Does the size of the folder that is holding these images count
in any way toward 2GB size limit?

As far as I know, Access database limit size 2GB based on itself, not related to the folder size. Attachment data
type is similar to attaching files to e-mail messages. We need to control the Access database size is smaller then 2GB.
When a field is defined with the attachment data type, you can store one or more files for each record in it.
Attachments can dramatically increase the size of the database, but since the attached file is stored as a part of the dabatbase, you are not dependent on network drives being available as you would be if you inculded a hyperlink to the file. As a matter of
fact, feel free to backup the origainal file to other disk after you attach it to the database.

Is there a size limit on the iPod for the song database file ?

I have been running into the same issue for the last 2 weeks: Once I exceed 110 GB on my iPod Classic 160 GB, iTunes is no longer able to update the database file on the iPod.
When clicking (on the iPod) on Settings/About, the iPod displays the wrong number of songs. Also, the iPod is no longer able to play any songs.
Is there a size limit for the database file on the iPod ?
I am making excessive use of the 'comments' field in every song that I load to the iPod. This increases the size of the database file.
Is there a way, that I can manually update the database file on the iPod ?

Mailbox database admission control by maximum mailboxdatabase size limit

I would like to have a feature which allowes to set a maximum size limit on a mailboxdatabase. This way we can keep the mailboxdatabases around a certain size. Existing mailboxex within the mailboxdatabase can grow according to their sizing
limits but no new mailboxes can be added or moved to it. In collaboration with the new automatic distribution feature you can migrate more efficiently and keep maintenance and restores times low.

moved to it? If so, I'm afraid that there is no way to set a maximum size limit on a mailboxdatabase in exchange 2013 server. But we can control automatic mailbox distribution sing database scopes.
