Task Manager FlashPlayerPlugin_15_0_0_152.exe

Win7-64, I see two processes in Task Manager FlashPlayerPlugin_15_0_0_152.exe - it must be so?
Previously, this was not long until I installed the latest update.

Operating system - Windows 7, 64-bit,
Browsers: Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome are installed
Flash Player version 15.0.0.152
In Task Manager, there are two processes, as shown in the screenshot. What is it? Why do I watch them?
Previously, they were not (before update Flash Player). And it seems to me, is a burden on my CPU in this regard.

Try Administrative Templates -> System -> Ctrl+Alt+Del Options -> Remove
    Task Manager
The bumf states that this "Prevents users from starting task manager
(taskmgr.exe)", but I can't state for sure whether this would stop ALL
    methods of starting this process.

  • I am trying to launch Firefox 9.0.1 on Windows 7 but the application window isnt visible even though there is a firefox.exe process running in task manager.

I am trying to launch Firefox 9.0.1 on Windows 7 but it isnt working. I try to launch it and the application window does not show. When I look at the task manager and then look at the Applications tab, Firefox isnt listed. If I go to the Processes tab, there is a firefox.exe*32 process listed. Each time I double click the Firefox icon, a new firefox.exe process is spawned but there is never a visible instance of the Firefox application.
There are no errors in the application logs. I end up just having to kill the processes.
I tried launching in safe mode by holding down the shift button but the same thing happens.
Any suggestions on what to try? It has never worked since upgrading from version 8. I tried un-installing and re-installing

I went through everything mentioned in the link you posed and nothing detailed there resolved the problem.
The Profile folder didnt exist so I created it. Made sure the perms were good and that it was not read only.
There are no default folders appearing under the profile folder when I start Firefox.
I have Firefox installed to my E drive.
Nothing happens. The process appears in the task manager but no application shows up.
Cant start it in safe mode, cant run the profile manager.

  • Firefox won't start after upgrade, it appears on the windows task manager but closing the firefox.exe doesn't help

I upgraded to firefox 4 and it asked me to restart the system, since then it stopped working. it just won't open. I have windows xp and when I click on the firefox icon I see firefox.exe in the windows task manager under 'processes' I tried ending the task but it wont help. i also tried removing and reinstalling.. didn't help either :( I also checked if Kaspersky might be blocking it but it isn't

The only thing that worked for me was installing an older version (3.6) and it started working fine... I dont even want to try upgrading it to 4 again..

  • In task manager windows 7 64 bit, Firefox.exe *32 won't end after Firefox locks up and doesn't respond and windows closed.

My firefox browser window locks up...I wait way to long and nothing updates, I close the window. Try to open Firefox again, but can't as system detects a copy running. Task manager shows Firefox.exe *32 running. I click on Firefox.exe *32 and click close....wait and nothing closes.
REBOOT - yeah for about 30 minutes when it happens again.

The support article on Firefox "hanging" has a few pointer on Firefox failing to fully shut down and clean up after itself. Does anything here help:

  • Multiple instances of explorer.exe running in task manager

I got a dropper trojan virus on my computer that microsoft security essencials do not recognized but after running "superantispyware" antivirus I got discover it and delete it. After that, I still could find the infected files in my
administrator folders as .temp files and I just erased them. After that my computer started crashing and runing several instances of explorer.exe in the task manager with different memory values, some of them ascending to 350,000. I have set up my computer
to run just the basic services, I have tried windows in safe mode, ran other antivirus programs but still it is performing the same. As far as I have noticed other unusual process present are host.dll, dllhost.exe, and logonUI.exe. Any idea about it? Thanks
    in advance for your help.

I have the same issue. It started about a month ago when I was filling out a form online and had to quit and close the window.  My system got very buggy (can't remember details), flashing, then really slow.  Found a bunch of explorer.exe instances
in Task Manager.  Ran Security Essentials and several other anti-viruses, nothing found.
    Running Win7 Pro, sp1, 64-bit, CoreI5, 4Gb Ram
Restored system to a previous version, didn't work
Restored last system image, didn't work
Used System Repair Disk - ran Memory Diagnostic.  Said it would give me report after reboot.  Never saw a report after reboot. But only one instance of explorer.exe in task manager at that point.  Took disk out, rebooted normally.  After
20 minutes or so, the multiple instances were back.
Used Repair Disk again, ran Memory Diagnostic. Again, no report after reboot (leaving disk in machine both times), but only one instance running again.
Did this a few times with the same result, so now leaving disk in system and always boot from it.
Ran Security Essentials again, found that rovnix virus, removed, ran again, found it again.
Ran search for instances and found many.  Here's an example:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe
    C:\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_b9fc4815c4e292b5

    C:\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.21669_none_ba87e574ddfe652d
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_afa79dc39081d0ba
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64
When I check properties on the now single one on Task Manager, this is what it shows:
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_afa79dc39081d0ba\explorer.exe
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe
I was going to reinstall entire system, but was from an Anytime Upgrade which now says it's invalid.  Much more to story on that (calls to MS support, etc.).

  • When I start Firefox for the first time, 1 Firefox.exe shows up in the Task Manager (8,180K), but Firefox doesn't start. When I click on it again, a second Firefox.exe shows in the Task Manager, and Firefox opens. Is the first one a Trojan?

I'm using version 3.6.12 on Windows XP. The icon points to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe. The Properties of that file look okay.

No, most likely not. I reckon you got some antivirus software on your machine, don't you?
Sometimes Firefox does load into memory but won't show your start page.
Simply open the task manager, click on the "Processes" tab and kill the (two or more) firefox.exe processes you've just created. Double-click your Firefox icon and everything should be back to normal.

  • ITunes will not open AND iTunes.exe will not LEAVE Task Manager

    Hello,
I am also having the same issue with everyone else in that iTunes will not open. This happened to me about two weeks ago and I uninstalled and reinstalled the version that came with my iPod. I figured that after a couple of weeks Apple would have figured out the glitch and fixed it. Wrong. B was asking another user if iTunes.exe was appearing and then disappearing in the Task Manager. I am having the oposite issue in that I cannot End Task in the Task Manager on iTunes.exe. What is up? Can anyone help me? Thanks for the support!

hi bummed! (you do realise that you're stuck with that alias for the forseeable future, don't you?)
B was asking another user if iTunes.exe was appearing and then disappearing in the Task Manager. I am having the oposite issue in that I cannot End Task in the Task Manager on iTunes.exe. What is up?

  • LogonUI.exe, can't see it in task manager anymore, dose it mean its not running?

after i tried to solve the issue with 26 csrss.exe running, it seemed to meany, i no longer see LogonUI.exe in task manager.
    forum posts from csrss.exe topic.
    Post 1
i tried process explorer & trying stuff with that i opened a new csrss.exe & that works under my user not system & i cant kill that process (i double clicked on it), after restart it goes away? or should i just pull the cable out? i mane sudden
shut down, status suspended, but it is on the list in task manager, how to get rid off it, end progress tree?
it just it did not have any info about csrss, so i tried to open it with process explorer, but that thing did not do what i though, that's why it all happened.
it also opened new Client server runtime process, i guess that csrss.exe under user is still in task manager list.
    Post 2
restart solved the issue, at least it seems so, also that incident removed 24 csrss.exe from task manager, i had 26 running new i have only 2, i did it just to find out that maybe i can remove the csrss.exe what i opened after restart, but i did not expect
this result, maybe this what some call zombie processes, they were in use once & when the process stopped they were stuck?
some processes disappeared, example LogonUI.exe is no longer running, i had 25 LogonUI.exe running before, with restart it booted, i hope that PC will start tomorrow to, i hope i did not mess up something & it wont start,
or i messed up PC security, made security holes.
    Another forum
    Post 1
u have no idea what happened, i got both Process Monitor & explorer, i messed up double clicked on csrss.exe & that opened a new csrss.exe in task manager under my user, then i tried to kill the process, but it only suspended it, then i was thinking
maybe after restart it lets me remove it totally from task manager, i made restart & what do i see when i open task manager? i see only 2 csrss.exe running, LOL sometimes messing up fixes the problem.
maybe this what some call zombie processes, they were in use once & when the process stopped they were stuck?
but all csrss.exe seemed legitimate, & no infection.
    Post 2
does LogonUI.exe really run right new? is it just not showing? if its not running then i would have error message or problems with display? it would be funny if tomorrow i have all the 26 csrss.exe back.
is LogonUI.exe running & just hidden, was it normal that LogonUI.exe was shown in task manager before? or is it  normal when its hidden? will it effect gaming? cant test, no games installed right new.
but csrss.exe is not the only process that has more then 2 running & some over 10, one i counted it is 25.
ok this are gone to, maybe this were connected to csrss.exe issue, but i have 10 svchost.exe, this should be normal?
some processes disappeared, example LogonUI.exe is no longer running (well it seems it is no longer running, cause its no longer shown in task manager), i had 25 LogonUI.exe running before, with restart it booted, i hope
that PC will start tomorrow to, i hope i did not mess up something & it wont start, or i messed up PC security, made security holes.
i know some of my post i copied here repeat some things i said before, i copied the post cause i was thinking that it will help people to understand my situation better :).
& i only double clicked on csrss.exe in windows system32 & created a new process, & i did end task to it & it was only suspended not killed, there was 2 win explores opened, one was cause i double clicked csrss.exe trough explorer, well u
can see the files with out it, i was unable to remove it so i made a restart, & some processes were gone after that.
i wonder did i mess up my windows & stopped some necessary progresses? despite the fact that PC is running, & seem to be running fine.
csrss.exe was running 25 times & csrss.exe was running 26 times, but there was more processes that were running more then 3 times & they are gone to.
if some processes i don't see any more are necessary i hope they at least run on background silently, is LogonUI.exe meant to run all the time like it did before? or only for few sec on log-on/start-up? so user never see it.
PC seems to run fine right new, i did that stuff yesterday.
i also have alienautopsy  & PC-Doctor to what is part of alienautopsy, i mentioned it in case it matters, also when i got in windows i so some strange process for few sec in task manager, its icon looked like computer chip, cant remember the process
name, but if i remember correctly it was DLL or Intel process.
under what name is LogonUI.exe admin tools service? i could check it from there, if u think its necessary

well LogonUI.exe is listed on my task manager again, i mean its back, & about csrss, i have 3 running, i had 2 running yesterday (in task manager all 3 are running under system), with process explorer, it did not matter which of the csrss info i looked,
all is same, all are runede by same processes, i could not copy that info under environment, but what i remember is, one was a  Invidia Pshysx, second & 3th was something to do with Intel, then i remember powershel, all that i remember, not worried
about csrss yet, cause its still just 3, but i wonder about LogonUI.exe, for some reason i can't add picture/screenshot here
dunno is it all normal or not, but i write it down here just in case, no problems with high memory nor cpu usage, PC seems to run normally
if its not normal i have no idea whats causing it, i guess i need to just w8 a year or so before i give my PC to shop for maintenance, cause this is beyond me i think, cause no infections found & PC seems to run & function normally, maybe its caused
by some old registry entries, i know registry cleaners are dangerous & can harm windows, so i think windows team should create their own reg cleaner free ware that finds only unnecessary reg entries that are no longer needed, a safe reg cleaner, also it
mite be software issue/bug like example Invidia maybe is creating to meany hosts or how are this things called, csrss is connected to host service as far as i know, same goes for powershell & others that use csrss.exe, or windows bug, or bug that is caused
by both, win8.1 & this drivers, well that's just a guess
maybe its a bug, system has problems with removing some closed processes from the list, or shutting town the ones that were suppose to run temporarily?
maybe i should ignore it until it starts to cause problems? i mean hit performance in a negative way
    i also noticed 2 dwm.exe & winlogon.exe running
i used Ccleaner, but not for registry, i cleaned internet temporary files system temporary files event logs & memory dumbs & so on & on (its to much writing to write down all it cleans), if some of this type of files what are deleted with
that, can it cause some processes to multiply? maybe among this files is a file where its written example what processes should be running or which process is connected to which process, like the Path & stuff, so registry cleaning is not the only cleaning
that can cause issues?  or is it
coincidence that after cleaning next day i see 1 extra csrss.exe &
dwm.exe & winlogon.exe? either way i don't know do i want to test it & use cleaner 5 days after today again, does windows delete this things i mentioned i cleaned with cclener automatically over time? either way, i think i won't try anything
to solve the extras issue, but if the number of this processes grows & it starts to cause problems i may just take the PC to a expert
PC seems to run & respond normally
    EDIT 21/10/2014:
today there is 2 csrss.exe & the other processes are back to 1 as well & LogonUI.exe is gone again, well i did not look processes when i turned PC on, i did it after restart, maybe it accrues after boot when win opens, that some processes remain
    & some are double
is it normal that when i'm not doing anything with PC it takes 19% memory after PC start until i shut down & after restart it takes 16% memory (when i use restart button in windows), does this mean start up requires more memory & processes that
    remain running after start-up?

  • Can't open PDF files until I end Acrobat.exe process in task manager

I have Acrobat 9 Standard with all updates applied. Occiasonally when I try to open a PDF nothing will happen, turns out that I open the task manager and find that Acrobat.exe is still running. I end the process and then I am able to open the PDF file, the file is local on my machine, (not in outlook, not on the network) and yes it happens to many of my files. What is the fix so I don't have to do this exta step every time? Is it a problem with Acrobat, or maybe it is conflicting with something on Microsoft's End? By the way I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates applied. Please help me figure this out!

You could try downloading the Windows Sysinternals program Handle http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb795533.aspx
Run this from the command line passing either PDF or Acrobat as a parameter. This may help you diagnose what is holding Acrobat open.
i.e. At a command prompt type: Handle pdf (or Handle acrobat)

  • When opening an XPS file, IE hangs. Task manager shows XPSViewer.exe taking 50% of CPU.

I've seen this twice now on older XP machines (sadly, some of my users DO have to run XP) so I figured I should document it, if only because the fix is so non-intuitive.
By default, XPS documents open in IE with a helper called XPSViewer.exe. You can also open them in a separate standalone viewer by installing the Microsoft XPS Essentials thing
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11816
But that doesn't work in IE, and my users needed it to.
Sometimes, users report that when they open an XPS file, the browser hangs. Checking task manager shows that XPSViewer.exe is taking up 50% of CPU cycles. Ending the process allows IE to respond, but the document is not displayed.
The first hint at a solution was from:
    http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/273861-cannot-open-xps-files/
"This issue occurs because the non-administrator user account cannot access the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. By default, WPF writes the output file to the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. The %WINDIR%\System32 folder requires administrator permissions.
When the non-administrator account tries to access this folder, the WPF caching code is triggered. This code causes the screen to flicker.
In 32-bit versions of the Windows Server 2003 operating system, the output file is D3d9caps.dat. In 64-bit versions of the Windows Server 2003 operating system, the output file is D3d9caps64.dat. "
It got me thinking that maybe i could modify the rights to the file instead of applying the hotfix...
After doing that the user could open the .xps file successfully!. But after closing the xps (internet explorer uses xpsviewer.exe to display the file) the file d3d9caps.dat disappeared from the system32 folder...
The next time the .xps file was opened by the user, the d3d9caps.dat file was not created in system32 folder as one might expect, but instead in the more appropriate path "...Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data" folder.
So in fact, all i had to do to fix this problem was deleting/renaming the d3d9caps.dat file in the system32 folder.
So all you have to do is delete (or for safety, rename) that d3d9caps.dat file and try again! Works a treat!

In the %WINDIR%\System32 folder, find d3d9caps.dat or d3d9caps64.dat
and rename it to anything. Bamn. Fixed. That easy.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 won't start but  I see Photoshop.exe running in Task Manager!

I just updated Photoshop CC 2014 today - October 6, 2014, and it won't start. I does not give any warnings or errors. Windows 7 Pro. If I check Windows Task Manager, I see Photoshop.exe running, but it never opens on my desktop.

Just so anyone that sees this will know the sequence of events:
I updated Photoshop CC 2014 and many other CC updates today
I restarted my machine (Windows 7 Pro)
    Clicked Photoshop Start Icon
Photoshop did not start, but Photoshop.exe appears in Windows Task Manager (WTM) under Processes tab (approx. 8 MB of Memory used)
If I click Photoshop Start Icon multiple times, multiple EXEs appear in WTM
Tried right-clicking Photoshop.exe(s) and Ending Processes, then Running Photoshop again (same result)
Restarted my machine a second time
    Now Photoshop CC 2014 runs
I will add an update here if things change.
    Thanks for the help everyone!

  • When i double-click the mozilla icon, it doesn't start. In the task manager i noted that the process "firefox.exe" appears and desappear after 5 seconds. The problem remains in mozilla safe-mode, but not in windows safe-mode. Thks!

Yesterday i installed the firefox 6.0 on my windows 7 computer. When i double-click the mozilla icon, it doesn't start. I opened the task manager and noted that the process "firefox.exe" appears and desappear after 5 seconds. I tried to start mozilla in safe mode but the problem remains. The only way to use mozilla in my computer is restarting the windows in safe-mode. Last thing: i already tried to reinstall the program. Please help me!

I'm also using Windows 7 on a Lenovo U310 laptop.

  • Thunderbird occasionally opens links in Firefox; some open, most do not. Each click on a link produces a new Firefox.exe in Task Manager, Win. 7.

I have tried all suggestions in articles relating to 'links in Thunderbird not opening in Firefox.' None of them work.
The issue is, one link will usually open if it is the first time I click a link in Thunderbird. After that I cannot open any links to Firefox, and each click on a link in Thunderbird (including the first one) produces an additional firefox.exe in Task Manager (see image). Each of these Firefox iterations are generally 49,000+K. They do not seem to interfere with Firefox's operation.
I also cannot right click to 'open link in browser.' Only copying link location and pasting it into the browser is working for me. this has been fairly recent with the last two upgrades to Thunderbird.
    Any suggestions?

This is a Thunderbird forum but there should be an option to open in a new or existing window or tab. You might ask over in the Firefox forum for more details.

  • With firefox not running, I cannot upgrade as my computer thinks it is still running. Firefox.exe does not appear in the task manager.

I seem to be able to start Firefox only once after I reboot my computer. After that it will not start. I tried upgrading the software using Internet Explorer to get the upgrade file. The installation failed when the computer said I needed to close Firefox to install the upgrade. The task manager didn't show firefox on the list as one of the processes and it wasn't running anywhere on my machine.
