Task sequence failed with error code 0x80070002
I am facing issue in OS deployment my machine PXE boot successfully but on the step of apply operating I got an error "task sequence failed with error code 0x80070002"
I see lot of thread describes to add Network Access Account I already added but still I receive same error please help
Usama Arifi had this happen on two of my dp's the other day. It drove me nuts, I ended up removing the DP Role, removing the server from SCCM
I then deleted all files on the 'D :' drive
after everything was deleted, I re-added the Server to SCCM and gave it the DP Role back.
I then added the DP Back to the DP Group to receive all packages that was on it before. then finally once everything was re-uploaded my users were able to pxe boot again -
OSD Task Sequence Fails with Error 0x80091007
Hello Everyone,
I have a bit of a weird hash mismatch problem. The issue is only occuring on one laptop. The laptop was imaged successfully, new out of the box. Computer started "acting craptacular" according to the tech, so he tried to reimage it,
assuming one of the applications he put on the computer while setting it up for the user may have messed it up.
From that point forward, the computer couldn't image anymore. I can image the same model, TS, and even other models without issue. The error logs are pointing to a hash value mismatch on the OS WIM.
Here are the log files - I wish there was a way to make them cleaner. I ran some hardware tests with IBM's PCDoctor, and it came back clean. I'm starting to run out of ideas.

Send a task execution status message SMS_TSExecution_TaskSequenceFailError TSManager 5/14/2010 4:09:53 PM 1896 (0x0768)Hi Guys,
My WIM is currently sitting at 1.8 GB, so I'm not sure it is the 4 GB bug you were referring to.
I haven't tried a re-import/update DP yet mainly because the problem is occuring on only
one computer at this moment. In fact, I have deployed several computers already with the same DP, same WIM and even the same model of computer. That makes me think it isn't an issue with the WIM as
much as it is an issue with the computer itself.
Can you guys think of anything on the computer that would cause the failure?
Thanks again,
Sean -
SCOM 2012 SP1 "Task invocation failed with error code -2146232576"
Hi,
I`m trying to discover a Linux RHEL 5.9 Server which is in another untrusted domain and from the Discovery wizard I receive the following error:
Task invocation failed with error code -2146232576. Error message was 0x80131700.
Any ideas ?
Greetings.Hi,
@Simon, I restart the SCOM services and I also verify the UAC and it's disabled.
@Mai Ali, thank you for you reply. I don't have a "&" symbol in my password, but only a "$" ..I hope it's fine.
If the SCOM discovery doesn't work, I installed the agent manually on the Linux server.
BTW I also use a "monuser" account configured using this procedure:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7375.configuring-sudo-elevation-for-unix-and-linux-monitoring-with-system-center-2012-operations-manager.aspx
I also verify the ports 22 and 5723 and are opened, but I also noticed that if you restart the scxadmin, is listening on HTTPS on port 1207.
Now..if I try to re-discover the Linux server from SCOM, I receive the following error:
"The pool managing the instance is not available or the location monitoring object cannot be found"

Post Upgrade to R2: Task Sequence Fails with 0x80070057
one SCCM 2012 server for a while now (June/July of 2013) and have had no issues with OSD's and software deployments. Today I decided to upgrade to R2 from CU3 and I thought the upgrade process went really well. But after the upgrade
I attempted to perform an OSD & it failed with error 0x80070057 before the Task Sequence selection.
I had that problem ages ago when I first started using SCCM, but that was due to a missing boundary group. I got that straightened out in June/July of 2013 and, OSD's & software deployments have been working fine since.
All the boundary groups are still defined
All the boundaries are still defined
The specific boundary this machine is in has a site system defined
The specific boundary group this machine is in has both an assigned site as well as a site system server defined
Verified server has full control over System Management
Verified server has been published in AD

Could this be an IIS problem?I've had problems after the R2 upgrade and had to reinstall PXE/WDS on Distribution Point to resolve.
Also ensure that you apply this hotfix after R2:

OSD Task Sequence fails with "There are no task sequences available for this computer"
Let me preface this by saying that I have read at least 100 forum posts with people having similar issues. However, none of the solutions in those
posts have worked for me.
The Problem: SCCM 2012 R2 will not image unknown computers.
The task sequence gives the error "There are no task sequences available for this computer." As soon as that error occurs, SCCM places an Unknown entry into the All Systems collection. I have been imaging unknown computers, without fail, for
4 months and no environmental changes have been made. NOTE: I am using USB media, not PXE.
What I've Tried:
Checked for duplicate SMSBIOS GUIDS in the console, none.
Checked for duplicate MAC Addresses in the console, none.
Checked for expired certificates, none.
Recreated Boot Media, twice.
Deleted the Unknown entry and retried, SCCM just recreates the Unknown entry.
Deleted all of my task sequence deployments, and then redeployed them each to All Systems (Only Boot Media and PXE) and to Unknown Systems (Only Boot Media and PXE)
I have also ran the following in the SQL Server Management Studio;
SELECT
* FROM
ResPolicyMap WHERE
machineid = 0 and
PADBID IN
(SELECT
PADBID FROM PolicyAssignment
WHERE BodyHash
IS NULL)
No result
Select
* From
vMacAddresses Where
MacAddresses = '00:00:00:00:00:00'
This displays an entry for every time that I have tried to image the unknown machine attached to the MAC Address with a different ItemKey and SMS_Unique_Identifier for each entry.
Added the machine manually using Import Computer Information, immediately recognized the Task Sequences that I have advertised to the All Systems collection.
Any and all assistance is welcome, I am going on the third straight day of dead ends. Below I have tried my best to post the entire SMSTS Log;LOGGING: Finalize process ID set to 744

SCCM 2012 Export Task Sequence fails with generic error message
We have a complex task sequence comprising of more than 50 applications\packages, 1975 drivers, 18 driver packages etc etc. Its long, it's big and it will not export with it's content.
We have several environments for development test and live. I am attempting to export the primary task sequence with all it's dependencies from live so that I can port it over to a new development environment.
I can export the zip file without content and it comes to 92Mb in size. The entire task sequence software set is 50Gb+. When I attempt to export with all dependencies and content the process gets about 60% of the way through and fails with the error
"Error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"
Googling the error roughly defines the problem as 'the export process cannot access the defined source path for one of the dependant items'
I wrote a PowerShell script that looks as every application, package, driver, driver package, boot image, os image and software update package in the entire SCCM software library and verifies that each and every package has a valid UNC source directory
that can be reached using test-path.
I also wrote another tool that parsed the entire source software library on the server looking for permissions errors (permissions on the structure set at a directory level rather than inherited), directories that were too long, inaccessible or otherwise
blocked, nothing was found.
It will take a very long time to go through and check each and every dependency by hand - time I do not have at present.
I looked in the TaskSequenceProvider.log as that is supposed to contain messages from the export process and found the messages in there far too high a level to use

Is there any way of increasing the log verbosity? I need to see what item is causing the export to fail.
Is there another log containing the information about the export & what it is doing?
All out builds that use the task sequence complete successfully, we can edit the sequence fine, make changes etc. so no internal corruption we can find.
Any ideas?Torsten, smsprov.log did indeed prove useful, I could see every package as it was validated. Unfortunately the log was wrapping about every 4 minutes and it takes 3+ hours for the task sequence to reach the fail point so I still cannot see the offending
package as it wraps before I can get to the log.
I will increase the size of the log and see if I can maintain some details to investigate.
There was nothing of note in the event logs, certainly nothing leading me to suspect that WMI might be reaching its limits.
I will keep looking for the cause and will post here when I find it <= positive thinking :) -
Hi all
I'm having the same error that is described in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2910552/en-us
So i have applied this hot-fix to the SCCM 2012 server and update the distribution points of all boot images. and also i have deployed the hot-fix client package to my XP machines. client's Task Sequence component is now updated to 5.00.7958.1104.
Still i'm getting the same error in SMSTS.log
Please help me on this.
AsithaWhich boot image are you using? It has to match the architecture (x86 / x64) of XP if I am not mistaken.

Task Sequence has failed with error code: 0x80070570
I've created task sequence for Windows XP OS Deployment. WinPE boot image loads successfully, Partitions are formatted successfully too. But during "Applying image 1 from volume C:\" I receive following error:
Task Sequence: My_task_sequence_name has failed with error code: 0x80070570.
What I need to do? Any ideas? (My computer has following details: ASUS P5KSE motherboard, Core 2 Duo, SATA HDD, Atheros L1 adapter)No, a build and capture task sequence automates the build of the image removing any and all human intervention so that rebuilding or refreshing an image becomes a simple matter. Building images by actually manually installing Windows is anti-IT.
File corruption can be caused by many, many things; e.g., anti-virus, physical disk errors, network transmit errors, etc.

Task Sequence fails on "Apply Driver Package" when PXE-booting but not with bootable media
I have an issue where my Task Sequence fails during 'Apply Driver Package' when PXE-booting but works ok when booting from CD or USB-stick. It fails withe error code 0x80070002 and when pressing F8 and checking the ipconfig there's a 169.254.x.x address.
Somehow it looses it's real ip during the process.
I'm grateful for any advice!Please enable verbose logging for Task sequence, then upload the smsts.log to Skydrive.
0x80070002 error is too generic, which cannot be used to determine the cause.

Failed to run Task Sequence.
An error occurred while starting the task sequence (0x8007000E)."
While OSD, picks up task sequence but fails in resolving task sequence dependencies. SMSPXE identifies device is not in database (unknown).
SMSTS.log shows
ThreadToResolveAndExecuteTaskSequence failed. Code(0x8007000E)" in SMSTS.LOG, have seen other articles suggesting failure due to lack of storage (RAM) but this task sequence has worked in past.
By the way, if I create a stand alone media, we are able to image the workstation. What has changed in the task sequence such that the workstation is unable to download policies due to lack of storage (RAM) on workstation. Workstation has 2 GB of RAM.I have found a work around for the issue, even though the computer is unknown, there were software updates targeted to the ALL SYSTEMS collection which applies to All Unknown Computers and therefore to x64 Unknown Computer and x86 Unknown Computer.
We had a SCEP ADR applying definition updates to All Systems, we applied the ADR to a different collection, removed all the SCEP updates to All Systems and successfully re-imaged the workstation. Following article was of great help in identifying the problem

SSIS custom execute sql task : Failed with error
I am developing a custom SSIS task for running sql task. But it fails with error - I'm trying to set the resultsetbinding to be used by next task in workflow.

Task failed: CustomSSISTask
Here is the code sample I'm trying ,
public override DTSExecResult Execute(Connections connections, VariableDispenser variableDispenser,
IDTSComponentEvents componentEvents, IDTSLogging log, object transaction)
MessageBox.Show("testing:");
try
// Add the SQL Task
Package package = new Package();
package.Executables.Add("STOCK:SQLTask");
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Variable variable = package.Variables.Add("id", false, "User", 0);
// Get the task host wrapper
TaskHost taskHost = package.Executables[0] as TaskHost;
// Get the task object
ExecuteSQLTask task = taskHost.InnerObject as ExecuteSQLTask;
// Set core properties
task.Connection = connections[0].Name;
task.SqlStatementSource = "SELECT id FROM sysobjects WHERE name = 'sysrowsets'";
//task.SqlStatementSource =
// "SELECT PersonID from [AmalgaSpeedTableData].[SpeedTable].[DimPerson] where PersonIntID = '1'";
task.SqlStatementSourceType = SqlStatementSourceType.DirectInput;
// Add result set binding, map the id column to variable
IDTSResultBinding resultBinding = task.ResultSetBindings.Add();
//IDTSResultBinding resultBinding = task.ResultSetBindings.GetBinding(0);
resultBinding.ResultName = "variable";
resultBinding.DtsVariableName = variable.QualifiedName; //"User::id";
task.Execute(connections, variableDispenser, componentEvents, log, transaction);
catch (Exception ex)
throw new ArgumentException(ex.Message);
return DTSExecResult.Success;
It doesnt throw any exception but custom task fails.
Later I will be also using parametersetbindings to pass some input parameters to this task , since I'm stuck for out param - blocked moving ahead.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Here is the complete smsts.log: http://1drv.ms/1pwTEBf
To explain the Problem in Detail:
The SCCM Primary Site Server and the Clients are in different trusted (bidirectional) forests!
Everythings working fine in this Scenario, I can install SCCM Agent on the Clients with Manual ccmsetup and with Client Push Installation. Additionally i can deploy Software Updates and so on... only OSD is crashing in the releaserequest step.
During my Tasksequence new Clients are joined to Domain A while SCCM Primary Site Server is installed in Domain B
If I change my TS and let the Clients also join Domain B everything works without any Problems and the Tasksequence finish without any Errors.
My Problem must be related to the different Domains and the forest trust.
My Setup:
MP published to DNS in both domains
Schema Extended in both domains
System Management Container published and verified in both domains
ccmsetup Parameters in TS: ccmsetup SMSMP=sccm.domain.b FSP=sccm.domain.b DNSSUFFIX=Domain.b
Network Access account configured with Domain B account
Domain Join account has create Computer rights on the OU in Domain A (Domain join is successful)
DNs conditional forwarders configured in both Domains and DNS resolutin is working in both directions
Any suggestions?
Many thanks.
regards,
ChristianHi Christian,
So do you actual get an error message in your TS or is it just failing to join Domain B? (Could be both if the machines fails to join the domain).
Can you review netsetup.log on the machines after the issue and see what error message you might be getting during the domain join process?
Also, if it a domain join issue, can you try manually joining to domain B using the same service account?
