Task sequence not deploying the client

Guys,
I have a TS deploying an operating system.  This includes deploying the client via the Configuration Manager Client Package.
I have noticed that the client is not being deployed at the end of the TS.  The Configuration Manager Client Package has been successfully deployed to my dp's .  Only thing I have noticed is that the package does not have any programs associated
with it.
Any thoughts ?

Hi,
As Peter mentioned, Maybe the log can give us some clues.

  • Deploy Task Sequence to VPN based clients

Can task sequences be deployed to VPN based clients? Its not an OSD task sequence, the task sequence in question has a couple of program installs and relatively small in size.
The client machine(s) do receive the deployment although the status deployment remains on "Downloading", so I assume the device cannot locate the content on the DP within the VPN (configured Slow) boundary.
The packages in the custom TS are located on the DP, so its either the boundary or a task sequence configuration.
Just to note - Software updates are deploy successfully to VPN based clients within the same boundary, so I'm inclined to say it might be the task sequence?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Thanks - although where is this configuration in the program/package(s):
"Check the packages/programs called in the TS to ensure they are correctly set for slow-link behaviour."
    Oops, sorry, it's on the deployment;
    Step 10. here:

On the Distribution Points page of the Wizard, specify the following information:
Deployment options – Specify the actions that a client should take to run program content. You can specify behavior when the client is in a fast network boundary, or a slow or unreliable network boundary.

  • Applications Installed through task sequence not showing up in Software Center

In the task sequence we use for our OSD Windows 7 machine build, we have Custom-Install Application steps which install a number of of our Applications.  Each of these Applications has the "Allow this application to be installed from the Install
Application task sequence action without being deployed" checkbox checked.  All of the Applications have the following properties set:
    Installation behavior: Install for system
Logon requirement: Whether or not a user is logged in
    Installation program visibility: Hidden
When a machine is built using this task sequence, all of the Applications install successfully - they show up in Control Panel\Programs and Features, and they run correctly. However, none of them show up in the Software Center. I'm not seeing anything in
any of the logs that indicates a problem, and the Software Center remains empty even after running all the client evaluation cycle actions
Interestingly, if I add a couple of the newly build machines to a collection, then target deployments for the already installed Applications to that collection, after running the Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle the Applications immediately
show up in Software Center as installed.
Does anyone know if Applications installed through a task sequence do not show up in the Software Center by default, or could you give me some troubleshooting tips if this is not normal?
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    SCCM 2012 SP1, Single site, W7 clients

Why you deploy applications through task sequences? Task sequences are built and meant to be used with OSD, not application deployment.
To my knowledge, if you have application install step in a task sequence and you deploy that task sequence to a collection of machines, the software center on those machines only sees the task sequence itself, not the applications inside the task sequence.
If you want your applications to be shown in the software center, change the method of deploying stuff and deploy applications as they're are meant to.

  • ICal Server reacheable by the server but not by the clients

    Dear all,
We've got an iCal Server running on Mac OS X Server 10.5.4. Suddenly (due to a power failure), the iCal Server stopped working. I checked the file /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.calendarserver.calendarserver.plist and Disabled was set to True, so I set it to False and I rebooted. Now, the iCal Server launches correctly and will work on the server itself, but not on the clients.
The clients can't even reach http://iguane.local:8008/ (they can still reach the Apache web server).
Any idea of how the access on the local network can be restored? I am not sure where to look and what's wrong.

If you can't reach the server via Safari then there is some problem with the network setup on your server machine or with some device between the server and client.
Can you stop then restart the calendar server and post the text from the error.log that appears when you restart? That should indicate which network interfaces are being bound to by the server - we should double-check that.

  • Mobile Sync not update the client or remote store  after first sync

Subject: OracleLite 9i does not update the client or remote store during synchronization with a Windows CE device
After the first synchronization, neither the client or remote stores are updated on future synchronization when the publication is created with the fast refresh option. If the publication is created with the complete refresh option, the server will update the client, but the client cannot update the server after the first synchronization. That is once the database (.odb) file is downloaded from the server on the first connect, no updates to either the client, or server are performed for a publication created with the fast refresh option, and only the client store is updated when the publication is created with the complete refresh option. These result are obtained whether I use MSync via Microsoft Active Sync, or I use the Embedded VC++ program I wrote to initiate the synchronization from the Windows CE device.
I am 99% sure the JAVA code that I am programmatically creating the publications with, and the Embedded VC++ code for initiating the synchronization from the Windows CE device are correct. Both programs adhere exactly to the example code provided either in the documentation, or in the sample code shipped with OracleLite 9i Release 5.0.1. My conclusion is that there is a problem with Oracles replication programs either on the Windows CE, or Server side, or both. This conclusion on my part is strongly supported by the fact that MSync operating with Microsoft Active Sync behaves exactly the same as my code that initiates the replication from the Windows CE device. Also, by looking through the discussion forum, I gather that others are experiencing similar, if not identical, replication problems.
To support my contention that it is a Oracle problem, I have prepared a simplified version of the Embedded VC++ code to initiate the synchronization for the CE device, and the JAVA code for creating the publication. This code duplicates the problem and is easy to follow. You may download the zip file containing code via the link https://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu:4443/SyncProblem.htm or the link http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu:7778/SyncProblem.htm. This zip contains the Embedded VC++ project files, that will compile and run correctly on a PocketPC with an Arm processor, or the PocketPC x86 emulator when you have the required include files, and libraries in the path. It also includes the JAVA code I used to create the publication. If you extend the VC++ code to run on additional platforms be sure to add the compile flag (directive) /D SQL_NOUNICODEMAP , and the library files olod2040.lib, and ocapi.lib in the library box from Project settings. On my system the paths to the Arm, and x86 libraries are C:\ORALITE501\MOBILE\SDK\WINCE\POCKET_PC\Arm\LIB, and C:\ORALITE501\MOBILE\SDK\WINCE\POCKET_PC\X86EM\LIB, respectively
I am using a NT 4.0 SP6a server with Database 9i Release 2 Enterprise edition, and OracleLite 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1. The Windows CE test device is an iPac running Pocket PC, connected to a system running Windows 2000 Professional SP2, and Microsoft Active Sync 3.1.
Please review this problem documentation, and tell me what I am doing wrong, or point me to a location where I can get a patch to fix the problem.
    Thanks,

I'm also facing a similar problem. I'm using Mobile server as stand alone config with Oracle 8i as server database. After the first download, the data updated at the server is not getting downloaded to client(PDA).
How did u overcome this problem? Is there any work around?
I want to do synch using both serial and dial up.

  • How to create a Credit Note to the client for purchasing of an Asset last y

    Hi,
I have an issue in Asset Accounting as it showed bellow:
Assets depreciation start date is 1st October 2007.
We have run the depreciation up to November 2007.
Than we sold the asset in December.
However, after the end closed year 2007, client returned the asset in 1 st January 2008.
So i need to create a Credit Note to the client for purchasing of an Asset last year, but we don't know how to create it?
We thinks that correct movement should be debit in extraordinary cost / profits account, debit in asset account, credit in accumulated depreciation account and credit in client account.
Plz help. I will assign full points for any useful answer.
    Thanks
Edited by: Ricardo Pedro Rodrigues Ferrão on Dec 20, 2007 10:09 AM

How did you sell the asset?
You can just reverse the sale transaction by going to transaction AB08.
Hopefull this may work for you.

What do you mean by deploying the data source? You did this DS addition to agent before generating the template right?

I had a problem that I want to execute sequence not from the 1st frame but from the specific frame that I want to execute to the end. How can I do? Please help me.

Instead of using a sequence I suggest you use a state machine. By using a state machine you can begin anywhere you like.
For more information in regards to a state machine, see the following link:

  • Forte / Conductor not deploying the Conductor libraries tothe clients

    Good day!
We have a Forte 3.0.L.2 (NT) server for development, as well as a 3.0.L.2
(Unix) server for development and one for deployment. The developers code
in the NT environment, then we export the workspace to Unix. Recently we've
added Conductor (1.0.L.1) and WebEnterprise (1.0.D.1). All was working
fine, until I renamed the environment on the Unix development environment.
Previously, when clients pulled deployments, they would receive the
Conductor-related libraries, but now (after the environment name change) the
"wfclient" library no longer comes over with the deployment, as it used to.
I've rebuilt the environment (recreated via nodemgr and rebuilt the node
templates, as well as reinstalling it all back) but this didn't take care of
the problem. Forte states we need to install the Conductor client on the
client machines. However, our other three environments will still deploy
the "wfclient" and other conductor-related libraries to the clients. Do you
have any information on this behavior?
    thanks in advance,
    Sean Boone

    Hi,
I had the same issue but I just managed to fix it. You must upgrade and/or regenerate you proxy. This creates new classes (possibily in a new package) that you must use in your code. I had this error because the classes directory was not clean after the rebuild and the old classes (in the old package) were still present, so the compilation was successful with the old classes. So clean your classes directories, regenerate your proxy and use the new classes in your code.

    Sylvain

  • XP to Win7 Upgrade Task Sequence failing with the error 0x800700C1 (Already applied the Hot Fix KB 2910552)

    Hi all
I'm having the same error that is described in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2910552/en-us
So i have applied this hot-fix to the SCCM 2012 server and update the distribution points of all boot images. and also i have deployed the hot-fix client package to my XP machines. client's Task Sequence component is now updated to 5.00.7958.1104.
Still i'm getting the same error in SMSTS.log
    Please help me on this.
    Asitha

Which boot image are you using? It has to match the architecture (x86 / x64) of XP if I am not mistaken.

  • Non-Deployed Applications in OSD Task Sequence Are Deployed To Collection Members where OSD TS is deployed

    Hello,
I have a situation where an application (which is not deployed) that is part of an OSD Task Sequence is being deployed to computers that are in the same collection my TS for OSD is deployed.
For OSD I have created an application to check the BIOS version and upgrade the BIOS if there is a newer one available. The application has numerous deployment types (13) due to various hardware models and the requirement to go to several intermediary BIOS
versions to reach the current newest version. There are dependencies configured to handle these incremental bumps.
The OSD TS is deployed to a collection that contains all windows desktop class operating systems. What I have seen happen once is that one users workstation somehow discovered and installed the BIOS Upgrade package and their BIOS was upgraded on their workstation.
I've checked the logs on several other machines and this same application has been run as well.
The application is configured "Allow this application to be installed from the Install Applications
task sequence action without being deployed" which allows it to be ran from a TS even though it is not deployed.
I have verified the application is not deployed. I have verified there are no superceedence rules configured. As I stated, there are dependencies, but all dependencies are within this one application.
What I do not understand is, how can an application that is not
deployed and is only referenced in an Operating System Deployment Task Sequence able to be ran outside the task sequence?
This is/has occurred with computers imaged with cm2012 and with computers imaged with cm2007 who have now been migrated to cm2012.
I'm fairly sure that it is due to the task sequence and where it is advertised. Computers that are not in this collection do not show the application being applied in the AppEnforce.log. If it is the TS that is causing this, how can something that is designed
to be a "sequence of tasks", allow something to occur out of that sequence?
    Current environment is CM2012R2.
Any thoughts to what might be happening?
    Thanks

    Hello,
After working with Microsoft Support, we were able to resolve the issue.
Turns out there was something (old policies) "stuck" in the SCCM database that was causing this to be advertised outside the task sequence and not visible on the console. While they didn't call this "a bug" since it has happens with CM2007 as well, it definitely
was not normal behavior. Still not sure how that could happen as I'm 99.99% sure I never deployed this to any collection, but that's what they said.
It took several hours of support rooting through the database to figure out what was going on but after some SQL magic it was fixed. Sorry I don't have more specifics regarding the fix. MS basically said "If it happens again you can do this this and this
in the db and voila its fixed". Since I'm likely to cause more damage (messing with the database) then good if it were to happen again I'd contact them.
Anyway, this odd behavior has spooked me and I've reverted back to deploying the TS to the unknown computer collection. As much as it disappoints me to take a step back and cause more work for the guys doing the imaging, the extra safety this grants (if
something like this or worse were to happen) I think is better than an OSD task sequence gone wild.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • MDT Capture Task Sequence not working correctly

    Hello All<o:p></o:p>
I need some help to tell me what I am doing wrong. I am using Hyper V and trying to capture a image of Windows 7 x64. From within the OS I run the
Litetouch.wsf from the deployment share. I get the normal MDT Wizard windows. I pick my capture task sequence and everything looks like it is running fine sys prep happens and I but back into windows PE I start to process the rules again and I am taken
back to the Select task sequence screen in WinPE.  If I pick the capture task sequence again the deployment fails. <o:p></o:p>

(posting for anyone else that found this page, this was my fix)
I had the same problem as the initial poster apart from what I wanted to capture was a 'real' pc.  The reason my 'capture' task sequence wasn't booting into WinPE from the local disk and continuing on with the capture was because the local disk was
being wiped when the boot wim - LiteTouchPE_x64.wim, was being run.
A few weeks prior to me wanting to capture a PC I'd been working out how to stop the occasional error when you boot a PC off the WDS server - “The Task Sequence Has Been Suspended”.  I was particularly interested in stopping this error as I want to
remotely start a Win7 install on a PC, this error would stop the install happening but I wouldn't see this error and end up visiting the PC only to find the install hadn't really started.  After googling around, I found a page that explains how to edit
the unattend.xml file in the boot image - LiteTouchPE_x64.wim, in the xml file to run the command wscript.exe X:\Deploy\Scripts\LTICleanup.wsf.  Sounded good so I done what the page said (myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/cnackers/archive/2010/10/20/microsoft-deployment-toolkit-lite-touch-lti-the-task-sequence-has-been-suspended.aspx)
but it didn't stop the message appearing.  In the end I fixed this problem by adding the line 'SkipWizard=YES' in my customsettings.ini file.  I didn't remove the LTICleanup.wsf from unattend.xml, it didn't seem to do any harm, that was until I tried
    to capture a PC.
When I ran though my 'sysprep and capture' task sequence, the PC would sysprep ok and then reboot, ready to capture it.  Instead of the 'capturing a WIM file' sequence I was expecting to see, I, like the original posted got shown the list of available
task sequences window.  If you try again to run the capture sequence, it will fail as this has to be started in a running Windows environment, not in WinPE.  After several hours wondering what is going wrong, I dawned on me what was going wrong,
the LTICleanup.wsf was being run when the boot image was being run and wiping my disk, a disk that was ready to run an existing task sequence, the capture sequence, no wonder it was failing.  Removing the LTICleanup.wsf command from within unattend.xml
or rebuilding the boot image (by running 'Update Deployment Share' within MDT 2010) fixed the problem, the capture now worked.
Hopefully this will help someone else like me who was wondering what was going wrong with a capture.

  • MDT 2012 - Task Sequence Not Completing

I'm a complete novice with MDT 2012, but I have had pretty good luck getting a deployment for Server 2008 R2.
I have a reference system, and I do a very vanilla sysprep and capture using the template task sequence with no changes.
My deployment has a few app installs and other configuration items, but nothing too exotic.
My problem is this: during deployment, after applying the system from WinPE, I perform the final reboot. At this point, the expected action is for an autologon to take place, and for the local Administrator account to run c:\Litetouch.vbs, which does some final
cleanup and a few tasks that require the target system to be running.
This isn't happening on my system. And a look at the registry shows that the autologon stuff has not been set up, so it won't ever happen. It's not a matter of having an incorrect account, or a count of 0, none of the autologon registry keys are even present.
In trying to solve this (I believe it worked when I first started!) I've stripped down my deployment to a pair of task sequences that have no customization
at all in either the capture or the deployment task sequences, and still no luck. So I believe that something has changed in my reference system - but I unfortunately can't roll back.
What is driving me a little nuts is that I can't tell when that autologon information is supposed to be inserted in the registry. There is code in Litetouch.wsf that appears to do it, in function PopulateAutoAdminLogon, but I can't come up with a scenario in
which this function gets called. I am guessing that perhaps sysprep does it when creating the WIM, but I can't seem to find good information on that.
I've done a lot of searching on this, and unfortunately the answer space is cluttered with people who have a similar sounding but completely different problem - they want their deployed system to do an autologon, and after deployment their system comes up with
the logon screen instead of doing what they want. I've seen a few people post similar problems to mine, but nobody has received an answer. This one is pretty close, it suggest I might have a group policy item that disables the local admin account, but I don't
think it hits the mark for me.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/mdt/thread/e625aa88-2415-4a2a-9e79-ac6b37119c27
So in a nutshell: when deploying a system using MDT 2012, at what point do the autologon items from unattend.xml stuffed into the registry for use after state restore/reboot in the task sequence? And what can go wrong with that?

Same here, can't find any solution though. Did you ever work it out?

  • Task Sequence not installing patches

    Hi,
In order to automate the patching process for servers, I have a task sequence that runs at a specific time which triggers a wuauclt.exe scan to check for updates. I have a software update group created with the patches that we want to install. This time
around the patches were available in software center but were not installed. I just would like to clarify what I found as to what may be the reason for this. The task sequence that is deployed has an assignment schedule of 4/11/15 At 03:00 and will run for
a maximum of 120 minutes. Checking the software update group scheduling properties, the software available time is set to 4/11/15 At 12:00.
Would this be why the patches did not install because the software available time was after the task sequence was finished running?
    TIA

    Hi,
The Software update muse be available to install through a TS as well, that is what I have seen in the past as well.

  • Powershell Syntax working when run in cmd, but when run through SCCM2007 Task Sequence it claims the syntax is incorrect?

The code below is a simple powershell statement which enables me to change the execution policy so that I can run powershell scripts. When I run this in a normal windows enviroment the statement will work fine, not giving me an issue whatsoever. However,
whenever it runs in the task sequence the TS fails. I am running this via the command line option in the task sequence, each time running this step as 3 different types of administrators.
    powershell.exe -noninteractive Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy unrestricted
Checking the log file it states this:
    Set-ExecutionPolicy : The term 'Set-ExecutionPolicy' is not recognized as the InstallSoftware 13/10/2014 17:28:09 3768 (0x0EB8)

I am new to both SCCM and Powershell, but from my point of view, this should work, considering that the syntax is not actually incorrect? Please could anyone with any idea drop some hints and tips on how to
    stop this issue.

I'm not using 3 admin accounts at once if that's how it sounded. I have tried 3 different Admin accounts because I felt that perhaps the difference in permissions may have made a difference in whether I was able to run the syntax and scripts. So I tried
using my own personal administrator account, the SCCMNA account, and the local admin account, which I read worked.
At this point in the task sequence I have:
    - Installed the OS
    - Connected to the domain
    - Installed Applications such as; Flash, Shockware, Reader etc.
Once it has installed the last application within a folder called "Helper Apps" (Which contains various Java and Adobe apps which install fine) it will then run a "Use Toolkit Package" using the MDT toolkit, once this stage is complete
it then progresses to the Script Exception section of the TS.
    powershell.exe -noninteractive Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy unrestricted
I obviously need this to work otherwise I am not allowed to run the script, but because this syntax is "incorrect" it stops the task sequence.
I hope this information might shed some more light on the situation.
