Task server service?

i have two licenses of ARD and i was planning on setting up a task server. is there a way to make the task server start up on boot so the machine doesn't have to be logged in inorder for task server to work?

Just go into the Sharing Preferences on the task server system and make sure that Remote Management is enabled. That's all you should have to do.

i have a sharepoint deployment with one SQL Server (running on VM) hosting the config DB and another SQL Server (Physical Host because VM was running out of space) to host the huge Content DBs. I need to schedule automatic backups of the Content DBs to a
network share. For that i need to run the SQL Server Service with an account having permissions to the share as suggested in https://support.microsoft.com/kb/207187?wa=wsignin1.0
I tried changing the logon as a service account to a domain
account which has permissions to the Network Share and is also in local Administrators group of SQL Server and has "public and sysadmin" roles in SQL Server but that caused an issue. the SharePoint Web Application started showing a White Screen so
I had to revert back to the default accounts i.e. NT Service\SQLSERVERAGENT and NT Service\MSSQLSERVER. I viewed the event logs . These are the types of error i got after changing the logon as a service account to a domain account

According to your description, you get the above two errors when scheduling backups of Content DB. Right?
Based on those two error messages, they are related to the service principal name(SPN) for SQL Server service. Please verify the if the SPN is registered successfully. You can view it in ADSI Edit or use command line. Please see:

When installing SQL Server, those two services below should be registered:
MSSQLSvc/servername:1433
MSSQLSvc/servername
Please check if those SPNs or duplicated SPNs exist. You can use command to reset SPN or remove duplicated SPN and add new one. See:
Setspn.
We have also met this issue when this SPN is registered under Administrator. Please try to register it under Computer. You can add it in ADSI Edit.

Task server not showing up?

I have three services running:
ZAM Collection client
ZAM collection server
ZAM Task Server
But when I go into the Enterprise Admin console, I only see a Collection
server
Task Server is blank
I even submitted a network scan task and it does not show up in Tasks
Am I doing something wrong?

These tabs in the Manager never refresh automatically - on any IR. The
Tasks one (ie active tasks) does though, every so often...
I have the same issue except its not that simple, the task server is running but refuses to show up in the Manager even after F5 and also restaring the Manager.
Any ideas?

Task scheduler service fails to run after windows update

OS: W2008R2x64
We noticed that our daily tasks are not running anymore since the last windows updates few days ago. When running the task scheduler mmc, we get the following:
Looking further, the service did not seems to be running. If we try to start the service we get the follow message:
"The Task Scheduler service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
Now we noticed that did problem started after following updates, though not all machines are infected!!:

Oracle 8i database: FATAL ERROR IN TWO-TASK SERVER

Hi,
We've been using Portal 3.0.7.6.2 since it was available. We've just upgraded to Oracle Database 8.1.6.3 (to resolve Apache GPF crashing problems) and have now noticed that our database server process terminates with a fatal error when we try to administer users, though in particular, adding users to existing groups. Error message as follows:

FATAL ERROR IN TWO-TASK SERVER: error = 12571

ksedmp: internal or fatal error
ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure

The only way to recover is to terminate the instance's service and restart. This happens every time we add more than 2 users to a group.
Any help would be appreciated.

Reviewing Windows NT Rights and Privileges Granted for SQL Server Service Accounts

Hi Folks,
I am an experienced .NET apps developer who has been tasked with writing a bunch of technical controls for all the SQL Server instances on a domain.
So for the last month I have been diving in the deep end learning Powershell, dba and infrastructure tasks. This is still a work in progress, so be kind to me.. ;o)
So the task I am stuck on is described in the section on 'Reviewing Windows NT Rights and Privileges Granted for SQL Server Service Accounts' http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143504(v=sql.105).aspx
I have not been able to find cmdlets that gives me this information. I have found some exes which come frustratingly close like NTRights.exe. This lets me specify a computer name which is great, but only seems to let you set or deny permissions, not just
list them!
Any help with this would be very much appreciated as I am firmly stuck. As per comments above also bear in mind that up until around 1.5 months ago I had never used powershell / knew very much at all about SQL server admin etc. Feeling much more comfortable
with them now, but much less so with Active Directory/ windows permission structures etc so please can I ask anyone kind enough to reply to try and keep the acronyms down as much as humanly possible.. ;o)

I am looking for information on Cloning Server Services in BOXi3.1. The specific points that i am looking for are mentioned below:
1. How cloning is of advantage, specially in areas where we are facing network traffic?
2. Can we monitor WEBI server memory?
3. How to increase the WEBI server memory and will it improve the throughput time of the report?

1. If you clone server to another box, network traffic will be balanced between original and new server
2. Not inside the product, yes by using third party utilities, like Task manager, prstat or top etc...
3. Xi3.1 is a 32 bit product, with memory limitations all 32bit products have, it can use up to 2gb of memory. Webi report server will stop accepting requests and recycle if it reach close to 2gb of memory.
Best advise here - do ot design huge or long running reports.

Add root user to access all server services?

How do I add root user in snow leopard server to access all its services. I have a admin account from which i can access all services but looking for root user to access all server services.
When ever I'm trying to ssh using root it gives an error.

The root account is, and should be, disabled. There is no need to log in as root.
If you require root-level privileges for any task, use sudo once you've logged in using your admin account. If you need a root shell, then:
sudo -s
is your friend.
There used to be a way to enable the root account under earlier OS versions. There may still be a way to do it in 10.6 but I've never bothered looking since it's not needed.

EPMA server service not started

Hi All,
I installed Hyperion 11.1.2.2 Essbase, Planning, EPMA, Calculation Manager, FDM and HFM in the single machine in windows server 2008 R2.
but i am facing two issues.
1. In services, EPMA Server service not started.
2. In FDM, I am getting error in connecting to Essbase.
Error: Unable to retrieve target system data.
Is any thing, i have to install additionally?

Task server and data collection

I'm going to be setting up a task server shortly, to help centralize the collection of asset info. When I add computers to my ARD Admin app, I'm going to stagger the timing of report data upload by department, so that I don't have hundreds of machines reporting in all at once.
I'm wondering, after I configure all this, when my junior admins ad a machine to their ARD app, they'll wipe out the upload schedule I've already set. They'll need to Uncheck the box to 'Apply default data upload schedule', right?

Email alert if SQL Server Services stop abruptly

Hi,
I am a SQL Server DBA and I am currently working on setting up email alerts in case if SQL Server services stop abruptly.I have currently written a VB script which runs every 1 hr and checks if a SQL Server Service is running or not. This VB Script runs
with the help of Windows Task Scheduler.In case if a SQL Server service has stopped, this VB script immediately sends an email via. SMTP Server.
Please let me know if this is a good solution or is there any other better solution or is there any feature available in SQL/windows using which the same can be achieved.

Task manager service

Hi,
I just completed tests with the task manager service (namely the UserTasks tutorial).
Is there a possibility to ensure https requests to the web app that serves as the UI? (Possibly by configuring the process manager or deploying the web app to an external web server, e.g. Tomcat?)

You could also deploy the UI on a separte tomcat and RMI into the BPEL server. The Locator/client API is remotable using both RMI and SOAP.

Task Server error on launch

Hello,
I currently had my macbook air serviced by applecare and it turns out they wiped my drive clean, and so I went to reinstall everything and now have the task server prompt show up every time I launch ARD, and then after pressing done, it keeps saying "your task server "" could not be contacted". It's a single license and have no interest in using the task server.
I've tried removal scripts in terminal, reinstalling and everything, and the problem wont go away. And I've been trying this from the only admin account on the machine...
