Taskbar not responsive enough

I am trying out the latest build 10071 at work and the taskbar does not always respond to clicks quick enough. Often ill click on the RDP taskbar icon or the outlook icon and nothing happens. I have to click on it again and again before it comes up. This
can be frustrating when moving between windows quickly. I have never been a fan of the taskbar previews, with the latest build the RDP icon is very slow at displaying the taskbar previews.
If i am in one window and then click on outlook taskbar icon it does not switch windows first time.
Please can you add the option so that i can disable taskbar previews but still keep the "hide labels" option of the taskbar properties. Ideally what i would like is for the taskbar previews to replaced with a tooltip of the window title. I would
also like a taskbar properties option that hides the labels but does not group the taskbar icons.
This way if i had 5 word documents open, i can switch between them with a single left click and i can see which document is which by hovering over the taskbar icons. At the moment it takes two clicks to switch word documents and its next to impossible to
work out which document is which from the taskbar previews. Plus the taskbar previews is so slow and no matter how fast you make it, it will always be slower than no taskbar previews.

I agree with you that the Hang up button isn't responsive enough.
I know I have to tap is 3 or 4 times to hang up. The other buttons seem to be fine.
Placement of the cursor is not accurate, I have to tap multiple times to get the cursor in the right spot.
Selecting text is always a horrible experience. The two pins that show up don't react well when they are moved around.

First thing to try is emptying the trash to get more space.
Go to the Finder -> File Menu -> Empty Trash.
This will free up some space.
Next look at your Download folder. Click on "Size" to sort by largest to smallest. This is where you have downloaded files over time and you should be able to delete a good amount of them, if you don't need them any more, to clear up space. Select the files you want to get rid of and hit "Command-Delete". This will move them to the Trash. You will then need to Empty the Trash again.
You can also look through your documents for large files. Do the same think, click on "Size" in the finder window to sort by largest to smallest.
Lastly, look at your applications folder. Unlike a PC, you can just Delete applications. Now certain data will still remain, but the bulky items will go away by doing the same "Command-Delete" on the applications you don't want.
Don't forget, after you have deleted things, you need to Empty the Trash.

The SMTP settings are separate from the POP or IMAP settings within Mail.app (which can be a little confusing), and the SMTP settings are incorrect. That could be some combination of the username or password, the SMTP server name, the TCP port, whether or not SSL is in use or not. It's more common to have SSL enabled. All have to be correct. The required SMTP server settings do vary by mail provider, unfortunately. You can use Connection Doctor to get more details on the particular error; Window > Connection Doctor, then open the drawer for a look at additional details. If you're not able to resolve the error from that output and from the mail provider's available documentation, and establish the connection, please scrub any personal details from the detailed diagnostics, and post that output here.

Situation: G4 (AGP Graphics), OS 9.0 with tons of memory.
Problem: Only with any browser viz Explorer, Communicator, iCab or Opera (all versions). Starts off fine. I have broadband. Then steadily goes slower and slower till virtually stops even with just the one browser and one window and no other programs in use. Try to do anything else and above message appears. The problem seems to involves the operating system and the way it interacts with the code of certain sites eg Ebay. It has nothing to do with PRAM, or allocation of memory to the browser or deleting various Preferences. The deletion of Finder, Memory etc Preferences, quitting, restarting all deal with the symptoms and are not a permanent cure. The primary symptom is a massive loss of available memory, not even enough to run a single browser and one window! Any simple solutions? I realise I can upgrade to OS 9.2. Will this work? Apart from this browser problem I am happy with my present set so is there a simpler solution apart from upgrading?

I have 640mb of RAM. The problem is intermitent and is determined to a great extent by the sites which I visit. Yahoo for example is great - no problems. In another window visiting eg Ebay will eventually (variable) cause a slowdown. I have switched Virtual Memory on and off, changed cache, program allocations of memory, regularly used Norton Utilies to inspect, repair, defrag etc and looked all over the place for advice. Things run great for a while but it is only a question of time , months or even days, before the problem re-appears. I was surprised to find so little about it on the Web. Perhaps everyone else has upgraded or is on OS X! If I could have done something without upgrading I may have gone for that option as everything else is running like a dream and I want to keep it that way! I use programs such as Paperport (sadly not made for OS X) which I find a marvellous scanning and paperwork management program. To get it to work with OS 9.0 I had to determine with Cassidy & Green's marvellous extension conflict identifier Conflict Catcher that the Control Strip needed disabling. If I upgrade, I could, for Paperport et al, upset the Apple cart! I have also read about a program called Reaper which was used to deal, I believe, with Finder memory problems with OS 7 and OS 8. It is still available on at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/3783 Apart from this I know nothing more at present about it.
However, the following was one item which I found of great interest which goes along with your advice of upgrading.

One of theses bugs causes the MacOS to reserve almost all available memory for these text edit fields so there's no memory left for iCab. Apple has fixed this bug in MacOS 9.2.x (maybe in 9.1 as well), so the best solution for this problem would be to upgrade the MacOS. If this is not possible, you can disable the Unicode text input fields in the preferences dialog of iCab in the panel "Operation > Browser, Tabs". I find that whatever I do one way or another the slowdown will eventually reappear. A bit like weeding gardens and washing dishes! Well unless there is a way of dealing with OS 9.0 memory behaviour with browsers it looks like an upgrade will have to do!

Error initialization of VM, not reserve enough memory

Basically i am trying to create a cgi program which opens a filehandle to capture the output of a java program (which outputs 6 simple strings), these strings are then placed into an array and printed to the browser as below:

}The java works when i execute it on the command line through a perl program, however, it doesnt work when i execute it through a cgi program. So i put a test in the perl program to see what version the java is when running:

I have spoken to a few people about this and they came to the conclusion that it is due to the differences in enviornment between running java under cgi and on the command line. I got a response back from a person who mentioned:
"The error message immediatly follows a mmap for 134217728 bytes.
There is no edquivalent mmap when run from the command line."
What is mmap and has anyone else ever come across a problem like this before? Is it just a case of setting an environment variable?

This could be a problem with virtual memory soft limits in the shell that perl exec's. Try this test. Make a test script that does this:
system("ulimit -Ha > /tmp/ul.out 2>&1");
system("ulimit -Sa >> /tmp/ul.out 2>&1");
For comparison, from your command line run:
ulimit -Ha; ulimit -Sa
Look at the resulting output. The line you're interested in is:
virtual memory (kbytes, -v) <some value here>
If the virtual memory size for -Ha in the script is > the size for -Sa then you should be able to increase your virtual memory limit like so in your script:

# the word 'unlimited' for 64000 or the word 'hard'. Check the various man pages

Do not have enough Access privileges

I purchased an audiobook form Audible. It downloaded fine. When I open ITunes its asks for Audible username and pswd which I supply. After ITunes verifies account I get "Could not enable this Audible account because you do not have enough access privileges". I know this credentials are correct because I get a different message when I enter incorrect password. I have spent days researching this on Google and elsewhere. I have seen hundreds of postings with related problems for ITunes or Mac OS so I doubt this is audible specific. I have not seen any responses from anyone who can explain this. I am sure I am logging onto computer with full Admin privileges.
I did notice that some ITunes and IPod folders are marked Read Only. I can uncheck those and it seems to clear the read only status, but when I look back they are read only again. I do not know if this is related.

I got this to work.
I found some explicit notes in the support section for audible.com. It suggested registry permission tweaks. I applied those instructions to the ITunes registry setting (even though the instructions were for the audible settings.) The audible notes implied the problem arose because I was logged in a different user when I installed ITunes than I am now that I am trying to access content.

First time user of Mac(Book Air) and mouse sensitivity not high enough

First time user of Mac(Book Air) and one thing that has bothered me is when I use a generic USB mouse and I've set the tracking speed/sensitivity to the max and it's still not high enough and it just irritates me to no ends. Am I not doing something properly being a first time mac user? Thanks in advance for any response.

Depends on the mouse. "Laser" with shorter wavelengths are far too sensitive for me and need to be dialed down. IR is worthless in my opinion because they cannot move properly across a black/white checkerboard.
I actually (to my great surprise) love using the trackpad and hate to use the mouse because trackpad keeps my thumbs directly between my hands while typing. But that is just me.

My guess would be it has created an entirely new backup of your drive when you upgraded to Mavericks.

I am trying to install SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR2 SP9 on Oracle 10.2 and platform is Windows 2003 32 bits. While installing, in t he restarting the JAVA Instance step, server0 node is getting shutdown. When I further analyzed dev_server0 log, I could get below useful information:

I referred the note mentioned above and it inturn referred to note# 940893. I followed many other sap notes also. However my above problem did not solve yet. I have checke my JAVA SDK version also. It is j2sdk1.4.2_11 and seems to be fine. My systems memory is 3 GB and I gave 20 GB as Virtual memory. I dont think that it should be a memory problem. However somewhere I am lost and can not get the grip over the problem to resolve it.
May I request all of you to kindly help me on above issue? Please let me know if you need any more information.

Heap Size=512 (earlier 1024)
Changed below paramters in configtool:
-Xmx512m (earlier 1024)
-Xms256m (earlier 1024)

Why don't you call Apple tech support thru your provider. They will be able to help you in short order.
PS - If you want help here you need to provide a little more information i.e. how much memory does your iPhone -4- have and how much free memory do you have after restoring from the cloud?

See this article about troubleshooting the error message regarding access privelages. It may be preventing your iTunes library from being able to save/retain music you have recently imported to it, which may explain why no new content is being added to your device.

Dear experts,
We have two requirements regarding to the "Anual leave" quota.
1. Quota reduction when employee is inactive for more than 180 days
2. Advance quota days when employeee does not have enough balance
We have in place an "Anual Leave" quota related to a calendar year period, that gets generated dialy in time evaluation. This quota gets the employee entitlement from a set of rules that stored the corresponding balance in a period time type, that is the one that we defined in the customizing. This is working fine. The problems start when we try to incorporate the other two requirements.
Regarding the first requirement, if the employee has been inactive for more than 180 days in a calendar year due to unpaid leave, we need to start quota reduction as follow,
First, we need to clear the balance that was calculated above in the schema.
Then, we need to calculate one leave day for every 20 days worked till the end of the year, considering as such, everyday the employee is expected to work, except days on which the employee has been absent on unpaid leave.
For the second requirement we created a manual quota call "Advance Anual Leave". So, if the employee, wishes to take 20 working days holiday, but in his/her Anual Leave quota has only 10 days available, we have to create an "Advance Anual Leave" quota manualy for 10 days. When the quota for next year gets generated, we need to deduct these advanced 10 days from it. This deduction should stop the year after.
The problem we are finding with these two requirements is that, due to the Anual Leave quota gets generated dialy, we can't get the balance right.
