TC: Compatible with Virgin Media (UK) ??

Hi guys,
Just got connected to Virgin Media with their phone, internet and cable TV package. Works fine but would like to buy a Time Capsule for the house and am wondering if the Time Capsule can replace the Netgear router supplied by Virgin Media.
Currently there is a co-axial cable from the wall that is split and connects to the TV box and the riuter. Can this router be replaced by Time Capsule and if so how can I adapt the cable to work with Time Capsule?
Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,
I have just replaced my netgear router with the TC (also have virgin media) and all works fine - but my setup sounds a little different from yours. My co-axial cable went into a modem first, then an ethernet cable from the modem into the router. If your co-axial cable goes straight into your router, it must be a combined modem and router. Then I am afraid I cannot help you out.
Hope you get it sorted out

  • ¿IS N81 FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH NOKIA MEDIA TRANSFER...

I am looking for buying one N81, but I am Mac user. is this phone fully compatible with Nokia Media Transfer software?
    Anyone has experience on it?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello,
I have a N81 and have used Nokia Media Transfer since it came out. I have had no problems. It works really well. Syncing with iTunes is wonderful.

  • Zen Plus not compatible with Creative Media Explore

I have had my Zen Plus for almost a year. Use it primarily to listen to audio books and I love it, but there is one thing that drove me crazy when I first got it, and it still does it, but I have gotten used to it. (I have Windows XP)
When I connect my device via the USB plug, I get a Windows?pop up that says "Portable Device" in the title bar. It then tells me that Windows can perform the same action each time I connect this device. There are several actions to select from:?
. Open device to view files (using Windows Explorer)
. Sync digital media files to this device (using Windows Media Player)
. Manage the device (using Real Player)
. Organize Media files in this device (using Creative Media Explorer)
. Add music to the device (using Yahoo Music Jukebox)
. Manage the device (using Rhapsody)
    . TAKE NO ACTION
Then there is a checkbox below that says "Always take the selected action."
Then you can click "OK" or "Cancel"
If I perform the obvious action (the Creative Media Explorer), I get an error message that says:
"This device is not compatible with Creative Media Explorer. This application will now end".
If I then go to my Start>Programs menu, and open up the Creative Media Source 5 Organizer, my device shows up in the program and I can use it with no problem. It also works if I have the Creative Media Source 5 organizer open before I?connect
    In my Zen.
Don't know why it does this, or how to stop it but, as I stated previously - it is not a problem for me now that I know how to get around it, but it has probably caused a few new users to return their device because they? thought they could not get it to work.

here try this, works for melink

  • Cannot send email from iPad & iPhone with Virgin Media

I cannot send emails from my iPad and iPhone. I have a virginmedia.com address and I can receive but just cannot send. A message keeps saying the smpt settings are wrong. However, I have followed the tutorial on Virgin Media web site (this is how I managed to start receiving emails on my devices) but still not sending. I have looked at the settings in my MacBook Pro and all seem to be correct. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? I had a similar problem when I loaded Microsoft Office 365 for Mac; I had to end up calling Virgin Media (useless) and then Microsoft (useful). Anyhow I have looked at the settings on the Mac and they all seem to correspond with the ipad and iphone but still cannot send emails. V V Frustrated.
    Thanks for reading.

Then make sure that the settings are correct in your email account.
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Using BT Big Button 100 with Virgin Media 1571 ans...

    Hi there -
We are looking at getting the BT Big Button 100 for my elderly in-laws but need to find out if the 1571 shortcut button on it will work with the Virgin Media answering service, instead of BT's own? (they have a Virgin Media package for phone, TV and broadband) I cannot find any number to call to get advice from BT directly and the user guide does not really confirm if the button works in exactly the same way with other non-BT answer services. Has anyone here actually done this successfully? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
    Deb.

The button will be programmed to dial 1571 so if Virgin use this for their service it should work. If they use a different no. For voicemail it may be possible to reprogram the button. See if you can find a user manual on the phone on the BT site.

  • Is iPod compatible with windows media player 11?

Hello, is iPod compatible with windows mediaplayer 11?

No. iPods are to iTunes. Other PMPs are to WMP. You'll have to import your songs into iTunes to transfer them to the iPod. iTunes is better anyways, but thats only my opinion.

  • How do I set up emails! I am on O2 and with virgin media

How do I set up emails, I am on 02 and with virgin media

emails is a separate service from
    Internet and phone service
even if you have those 2 covered you will need to
setup the e-mail service even if it's from the same providers
that bring you internet and or phone service
so the answer to your question comes down to what
e-mail provider you're using and if your setup your ios correctly
to receive and send emails over their network

  • Using Leopard with Virgin media cable modem?

I want to upgrade to Leopard from Tiger.
I'm trying to find out if it is supported by my Virgin cable modem. It is the standard Virgin media one, via ethernet.
I can't find any information about Mac OSX systems on their site - what's new? And I'm waiting for a response from them via email. in the meantime, I thought I'd check here to see if anyone knows.

It should work fine provided you connect via Ethernet and not USB, as chances are there are no Mac drivers for the USB connection

  • Compatible with Windows Media Player?

Can you transfer music using Windows Media Player? It's been ages since I last moved music around on my BB8900 - but right now, syncs are not working which means I'm currently having to use Roxio media thingie to convert the .wma files to .mp3s.
If I try to sync. wma files the BB8900 it just complains about the 'format not being supported' and fails to play - BB Media Sync application also fails even though it does say the music tracked are 'supported'.
I'm sure I was using WMP with my old desktop (Vista 64-bit), but just can't get it to work with Windows 7 (64-bit).
Surely there's something obvious missing here?

Had similar issue with my BBCurve8310, v4.5.0.182 (which is the latest OS version ATT offers).  Running on WindowsXP,  IE7 and BB Desktop Manager v5.0.1..  My WMP is Version 11, which perhaps might be part of the issue.  It appears the BB-supported WMP format is Version 10?
Anyway, started my BB syncing odyssey by syncing some iTunes playlists, and most of those uploaded to my BB.  Then, I wanted to add my WMP songs that I had burned from CDs years ago (pre-iTunes), some great historic tunes (... no music library would be complete without them).   MediaSync appeared to sync the WMP songs, showing them as being in the "supported format".  The WMP Artists/Titles appeared on my BB, but the songs weren't transferred.  Also, that move deleted my previously-synced iTunes off the BB.  What just happened?  Why did syncing the WMP to the BB delete the approx. 500 iTunes songs already on the BB?  Had plenty of space on the Media Card.   I'm still searching for a resolution.  BB Desktop Manager is supposed to sync WMP files. Not a good result.  Had to re-sync the iTunes playlists.
I'll sample the Media Manager drag and drop feature for the WMP files, but I'm not immediately finding a lot of info on how the BB software converts the WMP files to MP3, and want to avoid having to re-sync the iTunes again.....
Thanks to BB/RIM  for the good on-line support info, and for the posts in cyberspace, that got me this far... at least some of the iTunes are up and running on the Curve.   :-)

  • Premiere Elements (video format?) compatible with InDesign media pdf.

I have a 2 min. clip completed in Premiere Elements_10. I would like to place this clip into my InDesign_cs5 media compatible pdf. What do I need to save this video as so that I can place into the pdf. The MPEG2 1440X1080i 25 is not compatible.
End result, email the pdf and employees can click on the video. I prefer to place the video and not have it as a web link.

Thank you very much for any help.
    Melanie

I was able to upload quick time movies (.mov) into the pdf – the movies were professionally made.
When I share and save the file in different formats like mpeg, windows media and quick time, they save as Adobe Premiere Elements Project (.prel) files; making them unable to import.
There has to be something little that I am doing wrong, but I cannot figure it out!
    Thanks.

  • WRT54GL with Virgin Media cable

Hopefully someone here can advise.  My setup at home currently consists of a desktop computer connected to two laptops via Devolo powerline adapters.  The desktop effectively runs as an internet server.  The Virgin cable modem crashes on a fairly regular basis and it has been suggested that switching from a usb connection to an ethernet connection for the modem would be faster and more stable.  Since I'd quite like to connect a Nintendo Wii to the internet as well, I'm considering getting a router.  I'm considering the WRT54GL.
The plan is to connect the Scientific Atlanta Webstar cable modem, desktop PC and Devolo adapter to the router via ethernet cables.  This should (?) allow the two laptops to connect to the internet through the router via the Devolo adapter and the Wii could then be connected via a WiFi connection.
Can anyone see anything wrong with this plan?  I'm not all that familiar with networking so I don't know if I'm missing anything.
    All feedback welcomed.
    Adam

Everything is seems to be right here...Just make sure that the Powerline Adapter should have it's own dedicated Power source. The router will not transmit the power to the Powerline Adapter as these routers are not POE routers.

  • IPOD NANO compatible with Windows Media Player????

    Hey guys,
I realize this may be a really dumb posting but I'm looking at purchasing a iPod Nano but my concerns are about how you load your music onto the ipod. I currently have all my music in my Windows Media Player but the ipod webiste says that I have to use the iTunes program. Any information or clarification would be greatly appreciated as I debate such a large purchase! Thanks!
      Windows XP

Ok, I am definitely very technologically challenged, and I got a nano for christmas, and I have no idea how to get my music files from windows media player to itunes. I use limewire, which then puts all files in Media player, but my roomie accidentally deleted all my music from limewire, so now all that is in my itunes is all the music he downloaded from limewire after he deleted the library. Please help!!! I really wanna use my nano!!
    Thanks

  • Cisco 851w with Virgin Media

Anyone in the UK that can offer any assistance with setting up my new router?  I thought using SDM would be fairly straight forward (I know little CLI) but I'm struggling to get the LAN / WAN up and running?

You can download SDM from the cisco site at:
    http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/sdm
You will need to be registered I think (not sure if its a separate account from support forums). When downloading it will ask for username/password, just use your cisco login information.
Setting up the ACLs from scratch is kind hard in my opinion, but I'm still new to ACLs, and I'm still in school (we haven't covered ACLs yet).
ACLs were the only thing I setup from SDM (Firewall option = ACLs); I used the Firewall - Low option, and it did exactly what I wanted it to -- closed up all my ports from internet access. Configuring the ACLs with SDM is a breeze, just a few clicks and you're done. Be sure to have the following lines in your running-config to connect via SDM:
    ip http server
The SDM will connect to any interface IP Address through a vty line.
If you need any other CLI help with the 851, I can probably help.. I just setup my 851 recently.

  • TS3679 Backing up iMac using time capsule 2TB with Virgin media super hub

Can anywone help.  -  On the time machine screen, the message constantly says "preparing backup".  It has been saying this for hours.
I have wired the ATC into the superhub correctly and can see the ATC in the Airport utility.
When i first setup the ATC it gave me another network name which I could connect to.  I don't require any other networks - I just want the to back up my imac using time machine and nothing else.
My aiport settings are as follows
Base station name = myname airport capsule.
Wireless - Network mode = OFF
Route mode = OFF (bridge mode)
    Are these settings correct??
Is there anything else I can do to sort this out.

Hi Johny have you resolved this? I just caught your post looking for something else today. If you have NOT resolved it, it's highly likely this is a NETWORKING issue and is simple to resolve.
Look first in the diagnostic logs by launching /applications/utilities/console.app and look for SYSTEM LOGs in the side bar of the UI. If the problem is persistent there will be some messages in here.
SELECTIVELY post these in this thread. Please don't flood it with any lines of noise. Try and be selective (surgical) of your error messages.
I'm sure others reading this post will also help you get this working.
Post your results for others to see.
