TC DSL 2740B Connection error
Hi everybody,
Hope somebody can help.
I just bought a D-LINK DSL 2740B to spped up my DSL connection, but with no luck.
Stepwise:
1 I use Windows XP (Boot Camp) to set up the modem
2 Connection via Ethernet works (although with drops i.e. Internet is ok then drops 2/4' adn again).
3. Reset the modem twice
4 Reconfigure Internet access
5 At last works in ethernet mode.
6 I connect to TC (1 year old, update OK, last firmaware 7.5.2.)
7 With the TC Application, evrything seems OK, green light everywhere (modem DLInk and TC)
8 Access to internet -> fail.
9 Reset TC with new settings including Bridge mode, no luck.
I tried evereything but didn't work. Il installed my provious modem (Philips SVN multi-purpose) and everything fine for now.
Any idea of what needs to be confiegured on the DLink/TC to work properly?
Thanks
To set up the router, first you use an ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the numbered ports on the WRT54G. Do not connect the modem yet. Then use the setup disk that came with the router. Put the setup disk in the computer's CD drive. Follow the instructions on the setup disk. The setup disk will tell you when to connect your modem to the Internet port on the WRT54G.

Pardon me because I'm not so tech aware, and so don't know what to do to try to find a solution. We lose our internet connection a lot. It seems to happen in spurts: last night we couldn't connect at all, today it was bad in the morning but now I've been on for about a half an hour and all seems good. I can't figure out any pattern. Last weekend we were fine all weekend, during the week it was bad every single day.
I connect through a desktop and the westell modem; upstairs we connect with a laptop and wireless. The connection problems happen in both places, although it's our housemates who connect upstairs through the wireless and so I'm not entirely sure if they have problems when we're having problems or not (this has been going on for so many months, we've all kind of adapted to it. but it's more and more frustrating). Our wireless is encrypted.
When we can't connect, we get the Explorer 'cannot find website because you are not connected to the internet' error page. Even when we can't connect, the "local area connections" icon on the lower right side of the screen (Windows XP) says we have a network connection at 10.0 mbs. The lights on the modem are all green, and the DSL light stays steady green, although sometimes the internet light will blink erratically, and the wireless light always blinks quickly. We recently switched out the cable to the jack, so it's not that.
Sometimes we can get it to get back a connection briefly by doing one of these things (but they don't always work):
- use the "repair" button on the local area connections window support tab -- this will often get it back for a few minutes but is rarely permanent. When it doesn't work, it usually says it's because it can't renew the IP address
- turn the modem on and off. That's what worked this morning. It did not work last night.
- turn the computer on and off. That worked last night only to get an initial connection that then pooped out.
- use the verizon support popup that sometimes (and only sometimes) appears when we're having connectivity problems. This morning that worked briefly -- the internet connection popped back up at the stage where the pop up siad "testing connection."
Any idea what is going on here? I tried a couple months ago to get help through verizon online support, and it ended up as a 3 hour phone call to India that resolved things only for an afternoon, and not on any more long term basis, and I don't want to do that again unless I know what I'm asking for (since all they do is go through some kind of checklist).I had similar probelm. I did find dns lookup is very slow. The following are consecutive tests:

[SOLVED] Pacman: slow sync with dlink dsl-2740b
Hi guys,
I've a very strange problem.
My pacman very slow when sync database with this router: dlink dsl-2740b.
That's not a pacman issue, but I hope you can tell me some option that I should modify into my router settings.
I'm using pacman 3.5.1 and I can't upgrade it.
I'm experiencing another issue: akregator slow fetch... only it, thunderbird fetch normally.
I hope this could help.
Obviously I've already tryed to change mirror in mirrorlist.

I don't think this is a mirror problem, because using other connection, and other router I don't have this problem...

i have a 2wire modem and have dsl internet. when i'm installing the program and it's checking for internet connection it tells me that i have a connection error and tells me to turn off my modem and turn it on again and it still doesn't work. I connected my modem cable to the wrt54g in the 1st opening and the blue cable that comes with the wrt54g on the "internet" opening and the other end to the harddrive and while it's set up like that i noticed that when i open internet a page opens saying that i have no internet. i need help, thanks

Sharing DSL internet connection with WRT54G
I've recently changed from a cable to a DSL internet connection.
On cable I used a WRT54G router to share the connection to a laptop (via Wireless) and a desktop (via ethernet cable).
After instaling the DSL (modem and software) on the laptop, the conection doesn't work.
The set up for the linksys router was updated (changed to PPPoE, and informing the user id and password the provider gave me), via browser, and it is correct.
Now, I can only access the internet when the ethernet cable is connected straight from the DSL modem to the laptop.
If change the cable from the laptop to the linksys router and try accessing the router, it doesn't work, although the connection is indicated as active, and the laptop gets the ip I defined in the DHCP linksys router (192.168.1.100).
Under this scheme, it seems the laptop can't find, neither the linksys router, nor the DSL modem (modem model is Thomson Speed Touch 510 v6), and hence, the internet.
Due to that when I try accessing the Linksys configuration page (192.168.1.1) I receive a message that this page cannot be accessed offline and it's necessary to connect. I can't connect, cause the modem is not found in the net.
That should not happen, the page should be available offline, cause it's a connection that does not rely on an internet connection (the router is close to the laptop).
The same problem occurs with any web page I try to open/load: a message stated it can be accessed offline, and it's necessary to connect, but, again, I can't connect.
I tried using a cable between the laptop and the linksys router, but did not go any better.
Thx everyoneIt is my understanding that the Thompson Speed Touch 510 V6 is an ADSL Gateway modem router. As such, at a minumum, it is probably doing your PPPoE login for you. If this is correct, then your Linksys should not be set to do a PPPoE login. When you used software to install your modem, didn't you have to enter your user id and password and have it loaded into the Thompson? If the Thompson has this info, the Linksys pobably does not need it.
You really need to talk to your DSL provider, or check their web site, to see what they suggest about setting up your system. At a minumum, you will need to know exactly what the Thompson is doing:
Is it doing your PPPoE login?
Is is acting as a DHCP server?
In the mean time, you might just want to try the following:
Try setting the router to "Automatic Configuration - DHCP"
If you are having trouble getting to the router setup page, do the following:
1) power down your modem, router, and computers, and unplug them from the wall.
2) disconnect all wires from the router.
3) connect one computer by wire to port 1 (not the internet port) on the router.
3) power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) power up the computer
5) open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1 This should open the router login window. Enter your user name (if any) and password. This should take you to your router's setup page.
If you get this far, set the router to "Automatic Configuration - DHCP", save the setting, then power down the router and your computer. Then reconnect modem-router-computer and try your setup again.
If any step fails, note the exact error message and the status of the lights on the router. Report back with your results. Also, it might help if we knew your DSL service provider.
Hope this helps.

IChat to AIM on a PC -- connection error
I am trying to resolve a connection error between my iChat and a friend using AIM on his PC. We both downloaded the most recent versions of AIM and we both turned off our firewalls in an attempt to connect to each other. We can see that we are both available and we can invite each other to a video chat, and we can accept each other's invitations, but then we get an error message that states we can't connect.
We both meet all of the necessary system requirements and he uses his webcam on Yahoo and MSN on a regular basis, so I assume it's a problem on my end (I'm a first-time webcam user).
We played around with the port requirements, which didn't work, and since we turned off our firewalls completely, we don't know what to try next.
Any suggestions?? Thank you, in advance!Elissa,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion boards, and i am sorry to hear you are having issues. Mac to PC has many known issues, but the problem you describe is really only a symptom of the problem and like say a "fever" it may be caused by many things.
The other respondent provided you a link to a discussion area that deals with this specific issue, but have you tested with another mac yet? if not, it may help to find out if it is on the PC end, which it usually is. you can try one of the live testers or you can try the auto ones first.
for an auto tester create a new AIM contact and use appleu3test03. do you know how to do this?
tell us a little about how you are set up. Are you connecting through a network, are you using cable, dial up or DSL?
you should have your firewall on and the proper ports open, leaving your firewall down isn't a good idea.
to open the ports, do the following:
Creating iChat settings in preferences: Go to system preferences/file sharing/firewall. look to see if your firewall is on. if it is on, great, but lets make sure you have all the needed ports open.
now in the firewall settings scroll down and see if you have a setting enabled called iChat AV. if you didn't create one, you probably don't. if you do, skip down to look at the ports settings. if you don't lets create one.
Still in Firewall, click the "New" button. A drop down window should open. Now select in that window from the fist drop down menu "port name" and select "other." Now under "TCP port numbers:" enter the following: "5190, 5220, 5222, 5223, 5298" Under "UDP port numbers:" enter "5060, 5297, 5298, 5353, 5678, 16384-16403" last under description type in "iChat AV -
Fireworks internet connection error
I have just reinstalled Macromedia Studio MX, in particular -
Fireworks MX
When I click on the update panel update button, I get an
error message "Connection Error" "Check your internet connection
and try again". Well, I am currently connected to the internet via
DSL, and I don't have trouble connecting to access this forum. I
can't find any documentation on correcting this problem. Any
ideas???snowlineguy;
If you are referring to the update button in the answers
panel in
fireworks mx, I believe that panel is no longer functional.
Fireworksmx is
two versions behind the current Fireworks 8, and we may
actually be close to
seeing a version "9" released fairly soon. -Tom

Data Federator data source not available causes Universe Connection error
I created a Data Federator project that connects to 20 servers across US and Canada. All data sources are SQL Server 2005. The DF project maps 40 source objects into 4 target objects. I created a universe based on the DF project and we have been quite pleased with Webi query response. Today one of the source servers was taken off line and this generated a connection error when trying to access the universe (not trying to access the data source that failed). We do not want the universe connection to error when one source server is not available u2013 is that possible?
If the answer is no then I see us abandoning what appears to be a great solution for real time distributed reporting and resorting to ETL and moving data.Hi Chapman,
Can you be little elobrate on what you have done to solve the issue.
Thanks,

RFC connection error between Netweaver 7 EHP1 and Ides ECC6
Hi Friends,
I try to create source system in BI from Netwever EHP1 to IDES ECC6 EHP3.
During the creation I get a connection error, says. check connction parameter.
I checked the parameter, everything is fine. Server, System and number.
When I went to the SM59 and created a connction.
I.E. with the same parameter like system = 06 and server = compi9 gave client 800 etc.
The Host name is resolved to 192.168.2.111 wich is OK.
But when I run the connection test it shows me "ERROR: partner '80.156.86.78:sapgw06' not reached"
I have no idea where this IP '80.156.86.78" is comming from.
No Problem with the opposite way, from Ides to NW and login to the System is OK too.
Can anybody help me with this problem.
RG. JimbobHi,
What is the next screen that comes up when you click on remote logon.
If no screen comes up then:
Check the user type of the user id used for this RFC.
It should be either dialog or service user for able to remote login.
If it open a new window and asks for password, then its excatly password issue.
Also make sure that the password is in numeric and correct.
Also make sure that the current user check box is unchecked.
Even if it dosent work, delete the connection and create again.
Please award points if helps.
Thanks

Regards,
Mahesh.Hi,
Please follow this steps:
Creating RFC Destinations in the ABAP and Java Environment
You need to create the following RFC destinations in transaction SM59 (ABAP) and the Visual Administrator (Java):
u2022 AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
u2022 AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
u2022 LCRSAPRFC
u2022 SAPSLDAPI
Depending on your client settings, it may be necessary to be logged on your SAP Exchange Infrastructure host as SAP system user with the authorization to maintain customizing tables and to release transport orders. Note, that user "SAP*" or "DDIC" does not have these authorizations.
Maintaining the RFC Connections (Transaction SM59)
1. Log on to your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host.
2. Call transaction SM59.
3. Choose Create.
4. Enter at least the following:
RFC destination: AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
Connection type: T
Description: <your description>
5. Choose ENTER
6. Choose the tab Technical settings and do the following:
a. Select Registered Server Program
b. In the Program ID field, enter: AI_RUNTIME_<SID> where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your Integration Server host. Use uppercase letters only.
c. Enter Gateway host and Gateway service of your Integration Server host. To find out the required parameters:
a. On the Integration Server host, call transaction SMGW
b. Choose Goto u2192 Parameters u2192 Display (see entries for gateway hostname and gateway service)
7. Choose tab Special Options and select the flag Unicode in the box Character Width in Target System.
8. Save your settings.
9. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 8 for the remaining destinations:
Destination
Values
AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
Program ID: AI_DIRECTORY_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host
LCRSAPRFC
Program ID: LCRSAPRFC_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
SAPSLDAPI
Program ID: SAPSLDAPI_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
10. Leave the transaction SM59 open for later tests.
J2EE Configuration for the Destinations (Visual Administrator)
1. On your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host, start the J2EE Engine administration tool.
2. Choose Cluster u2192 Server u2192 Services u2192 JCo RFC Provider
3. In the section RFC destination, enter exactly the same program ID and gateway options for AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER that you used in the step Maintaining the RFC connection above. Additionally, set the number of processes to 10.
4. In the section Repository, do the following:
a. Enter the parameter for the SAP XI host: Application Server, System Number, Client and Language.
b. For User and Password maintain the login parameters for the user SAPJSF.
c. Select the flag Unicode.
6. Choose Set.
7. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 6 for the remaining destinations:
Destination
Values
AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
u2022 Number of processes: 10
LCRSAPRFC
u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
u2022 Number of processes: 3
SAPSLDAPI
u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
u2022 Number of processes: 3
Testing the RFC Destination
After you have maintained all RFC destinations in both the ABAP and Java environment, you can check all the connections above as follows:
1. Call transaction SM59 again.
2. Open your RFC destination.
3. Choose Test Connection. No error should be displayed.
This will solve your problem.
Thanks

RFC connection error when registering PROGRAM ID.
Hi,
I created a RFC connection of type T.
I gave the following parameters ->
gateway host: hostname and then ip-address
gateway service: sapgwxx
Registered program id: xxx
It is giving me the following error:
Error Details Error when opening an RFC connection
Error Details ERROR: program sapgwxx not registered
Error Details LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host <hostname> / sapgwxx
Error Details DETAIL: TP sapgwxx not registered
Error Details COMPONENT: SAP-Gateway

Error Details RELEASE: 700
Can anyone help me in troubleshooting the issue.
Also I am not able to register this program id in Visual Admin -> Services -> JCo RFC Provider. Here it is giving me an error. Can anyone guide me in this?
Points to be rewarded for any kind of small help. Thanks Ramesh.
I followed the blog. Here are the steps that I did.
RFC destination:
1. To create the RFC go to TCODE: SM59 <b>-> Done</b>2. Create new destination of type T (TCP/IP) <b>-> Done</b>
3. Make sure you select Registered Server Program option before writing your program ID <b>-> Done</b>
4. Write you program ID (remember it's case-sensitive) <b>-> gave the SID name</b>
5. In the gateway host and gateway service write the values of your "Application system" - business system (not the XI server) <b>-> Typed the gateway hostname and gateway service "sapgw<instance no>", that I got from SMGW.</b>
But still I face the same problem. It get the following error:
Logon Connection Error
Error Details Error when opening an RFC connection
Error Details ERROR: program <SID name> not registered

I tried the following fixes spread across different threads in this Expert Forums:
1. Someone said network problem. I rebooted, restarted the install and even redo it.
2. Another suggestion was to use caps on the password. Didnt work.
3. One suggestion was to update the keydb.xml file. However, I could find such property name:
search for the table t_SAPComponent_SAPSystemLogon_SHARED
then look for <fld name="pPW">, <properties>,
<property name ="GUIENG_USER_INPUT" and set the value
"GUINEG_TRUE" to "GUIENG_FALSE".
4. I even used the ddic password 19920706 which is supposed to be the default.
5. Restarted the instance and applied all the fixes above.
Does anyone know what is going on base on the logs above? Thanks.try moving all your install disk onto local file system then rerun the install. That might work....
