TC for wireless router - wireless printing from MBP ok, but not WinXP

Would love some help so that I don't pull what hair I have left. Recently upgraded my wireless router to TC. I have a MBP, MB and iMac all working fine (MBP and MB also using Time Machine fine). I have an HP Photosmart 3310 all-in-one setup wireless. All Macs can print fine. However, I have a WinXP machine that can't. I deleted the original printer on the Win machine and used Bonjour to set up the new one. It sees the printer and installs fine. In fact, I can even use the scanner (hitting the IP through web browser) however I cannot print (from Win only!). Anything I send to it gets a "this document failed to print" error. Any ideas?
I double-checked, latest printer version for Win and latest Bonjour version.
Thanks in advance!

There is a small manual for sale (113 pages) from the Kelso Consulting Group dealing with this problem.
The Title :
How to Network Mac OS X Leopard with Windows Vista and XP.
This is extremely correct and good.
The only problem it cost something about 30-40 $. It is some time I bought it on-line, I forgot the exact price.
As you use XP it will help.

  • My wireless hp 5660 envy printer prints from my iPad but not my mac book pro

I can print from my ipad but not from my mac book pro, when I try to print from my Mac Book Pro the page just comes out blank...

    Hello @leafgirl ,
    Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand you can't print from your Mac book pro. I would like to help.
Since your iPad can print I think it is a software issue.
Go into system preferences and remove the printer.
I would also uninstall the HP software if any is present.
You should then verify and repair the disk permissions.
    Then do an Apple update.
    Reboot your Mac book pro.
    Then install the HP software.

  • HP officejet Pro 8100 will print from an Iphone but not from my windows laptop

HP officejet Pro 8100 will print from an Iphone but not from my windows laptop. I get an error stating "unable to communicate with printer"

    Hi Melatina66,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that when trying to print from your laptop that you get a communication error message.
To better assist you, would you please provide some further information:
    1)       How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet or wireless)?
    2)      When you installed the printer on your laptop did you set it up with a USB cable?  If  yes, did you switch the connection type on the laptop from USB cable to ethernet/wireless?
    3)      What version of Windows operating system are you running on the laptop (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, etc)?
    4)      When printing from your iPhone are you using Apple's AirPrint or HP's ePrint app?
    Thank you.

Are others having the same problems?

    Try this. Worked for me.
    - turn off your router
    - turn off you Mac's after removing all available printers
    - turn off all iDevices
    - do a factory reset of your printer remove all cables min. 30 sec.
    - turn on your router first
    - ran the network set up wizard
    - give your printer also a new name like "DeskJet 2015"
Something which you don't have used before.
    - turn on your Mac's and add your printer
    - turn on your iDevices at least.
    Should work after these steps.
It worked for me including all iDevices.

  • I can print from my iPhone but not from my iPad

I Can print from my iPhone, but not from my iPad.  The options
select a printer and number of copies are active.  The print
button is not active ( hot ).

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • I can print from my Mac but not from my iPad.

I can print from my Mac but not from my iPad ,any ideas?

you can read here about airprint
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
if the printer don't support that then you need to find a printing app in app store
which will act the role as printer driver for the device to speak with the printer

  • HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z Wireless connection prints from Windows Vista but not from Windows 7

HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z printer appears to be connected to my Dell Notebook running Windows 7 on the HP Solution Center page but does not print.Documents just get stuck in the que. It was printing then it wasn't then it was then it wasn't. The printer works when I print from an older notebook running Vista. The last time this happened, I uninstalled and reinstalled HP software and that didn't seem to help. Then, for some inexplicable reason, printing started working. Now it has stopped working again.I can scan from the Windows 7 Notebook but no printing. I've tried all of the troubleshooting tools I could find without success. Thanks for trying to help.

    Hello-
It could be caused by a couple things :
    1. Firewall on PC or in router.
    2. wireless interference (ie microwave, cordless phone base @ 2.4 Ghz)
    3. distance from router
    4. corrupt print driver.
Turn off any firewalls you have and move anything that can cause interference away from router.
If none of the above resolves issue, I'll have you install another print driver.
    Click on start.
    Go to Devices and Printers.
    Click on Add a Printer.
Add a Local printer. Create a new Port and choose "Standard TCP/IP port.
    Hit Next.
Type in 192.168.1.12 in the Hostname or IP address box. (uncheck "Query the printer" box)
    Hit next.
When the Printer List opens up, click on windows update. ( this will take a few mins)
After the box shows up, Pick HP (not Hewlett Packard) on the Left and pick "Deskjet 990c" on the Right.
Click next, set as default, and finish.
Try to print using the Deskjet 990c.
Also, remember a click on the Kudos star to the left is a quick "Thanks" for a helpful post.

  • Officejet All In One 6600 - Print from all Laptops but not Desktop

I got this printer for Xmas and have spent hours trying installing, reinstalling using Scan/Print Doctor software, etc.  I run a home network through Uverse Gateway.  The router is a 2Wire 3800HGV-B.  I am not runing a firewall on my desktop just A/v Avira.  I can ping the printer successfully from my laptop, but just can't print to it,  Running Win 7.  Connected to network through Ethernet cable to router.
The printer is gryed out.  When I go to device manager I find that it has a Code 28 stating driver is not installed. When I try and install the basic driver the OJ6600 exe file just hangs on Checking Netowork Environment.
In one of my previous installations I did get it to work through a USB cable, but find it totally impractical (distance) and part of the whole reason we got a wireless.  I now save docs on flash drive, take them to Laptop to print.  Have called support with no luck.  Most recently changed ports, but realize something does not allow the driver to install which I can not figure out.

OK, print off a network configuration page.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
Touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
    Touch Setup ( ).
    Touch Network .
Touch the Down Arrow ( ), and then touch Print Network Configuration.
    NOTE:
Your product's printed configuration page might look different than the example in the following figure.
Figure 8: Example of the Network Configuration Page
Image: An example of a Network Configuration Page
After this open Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in the IP address it gives you on the network configuration page, and then hit enter.
This will bring you to the printers EWS. Once you're on the page go to the tools tab, and then scroll down and select print self-test page.
Let me know if it prints the test page out.

    I am glad it works

  • Form prints from one account, but not from other on same computer

With Brother 5040 printer and latest driver.
I have a form in a Panorama V db file that will print properly from my "Test" account, but not my main account on the same machine.
When I try to print this form from my main account I get a the intitial Print Dialog, then brief flash of the preparing to print. But it never makes it to the printer. It was working fine up until yesterday. I made no system level changes.
This is a word processing form in PanV. Other forms in the same file print fine. A word processing form in a different file also has developed the problem. Obviously, there is some connection to Panorama, still looking for troubleshooting solutions.
    Martin

Look for a problem in your user library. Try removing printing preference and other printing-related files from the library, as well as the Panorama plist. Then log out and back in, and see if it prints properly.

  • I can print from my PC but not scan to my PC

Cant scan to PC, but can print from PC

You should add a little more information to your question!
I’m struggling with scanning to my laptop to.
Using an officejet 6500A connected to LAN with a cable. Laptop is running Win7 with the HP software that came with the printer. Works great for printing, web interface works too. I can see the scanner working when I make a scan using the web interface but I cant seem to scan to my laptop.
At first I launched the software on my laptop.
I walked to the printer, navigated trough the menu and fount my laptop in the list.
While looking at the printer I thought everything worked fine. (noise indicated to me scanning was in progres). But when I returned to my laptop nothing had changed..
Can someone tell me where the result of this scan job can be found? (i'm looking for a .pdf file?)

  • Very Frustrating! Printing from Preview or Photoshop - not happening again!

It's Christmas time, and I'm printing my home made cards... so I've done all the artwork, printed a test from Photoshop, and that was fine... make some changes, and now it won't print! Exported it all as a PDF, try printing from Preview, and the same thing happens.
Same thing happened a couple of weeks ago, but I can't remember how I fixed it! The job comes up in the printer spool, and then vanishes. Looking at the printer history log, it thinks it's printed it, but nothing. I can do a test page from the printer dialog, I can print from the web, but not from Photoshop or Preview
    Help!
This is driving me nuts I tell you!
    Cheers

First, do you have the original PSD to go back to (and if you don't, you now know to never kill off your source). Second, the JPG now has no fonts embedded, textures etc are irrelevant. So what is the resolution? Check out the rez of your printer and make sure the document's rez is no higher. Generally, anything more than 600dpi for home use is wasted, though some of the really high quality inkjets can go much higher. If your jpeg is very high rez (or if its dimensions are really big) resize it to be exactly the print size and try again.

  • Just bought an Epson 2540 Printer, connects with iPhone but not Macbook Pro

I am able to print from my iPhone but not my Macbook Pro. Wireless test page worked fine. Turned on Sharing option, turned off firewall, and still does not connect. This is very frustrating, please help

You may have to visit the Epson website and make sure your printer has drivers updated for Mavericks:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportMavericks.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=y es
Updating the drivers through this link should fix your issue. Post if there's any problem.

  • Unable to print from my desktop but I can print wirelessly from my tablet

I have an HP Officejet 4620 all-in-one wireless printer that worked fine until I switched from a Verizon to an Xfinity router. The printer is not communicating with my desktop [a Gateway], which is using Windows 7, however I can send things from my tablet [ipad] to the printer wirelessly and it prints no problem. I tried to troubleshoot but kept getting pop-ups and I just don't trust saying "Yes" to any of that crap, I've had so many problems with viruses through the years. can you help me please?

We switched from Verizon to Comcast and in the process of switching we lost the ability for my desktop to communicate with my wireless printer [HP 4620]. I could still print from my Ipad, but that was it. In my quest for help I went to the HP help center. I downloaded new drivers for both of my laptops and they were able to print wirelessly. I thought I would do the same for my desktop. But did not need to. I tried printing a document I was working on, and was very surprised when my printer responded. All is well! Thanks for the Forum. It's great to know this type of support is available.
