TC Hard Drive Access over the Internet

Hello,
I have a TC that is connected to my router. I have a fix IP from from my ISP
and was wondering if it's possible and if so how can I access the HD of the Time Capsule via a remote computer ?

You will have setup issues.. as the latest AC model requires a Mac or iOS device.. eventually apple will release a windows version of the utility.. and the current one does partly work but Apple seem in no hurry.
You can find a Mac or iPad equipped friend to do the setup.. once setup the Windows computer can use it.
BUTT you cannot access it from remote..
Not with windows. You need BTMM and iCloud account. AFAIK even with those you cannot reach the TC.
You can do it manually.. using a vpn. Buy a proper vpn router and use a vpn client on the windows computer.. the TC would be in bridge to the network..
Apple really did not make this for windows.. and SMB access is only provided on LAN access not WAN.

I want to access my oracle applications from internet

I can ssh myhost.servebbs.com from internet but cannot access oracle applications.
Need some help .
I donot want any security.I want to have full access from internet ..no security... Hence no DMZ...

Remote Access Over The Internet

I have an iMac G5 in my home office setup, from which I am able to access the main server here at our business office. I can download files to my home computer, work on them, and upload them back to the server when I'm finished.
How can I/do I set up my home computer for access in the opposite direction, in other words, to access files on my home computer from my office computer? Do I need any additional hardware or software?

Are you using any type of router at home? If not you don't need to do anything special except enable Personal File Sharing on your iMac G5.
If you are using a router, you will need to configure the iMac G5 to use a static/manual IP address and then forward the appropriate ports through the router to your iMac G5.

FTP access over the Internet

Hi Forum, i am trying to create a FTP access on my old G5 for clients to access and upload and download files to. I have setup FTP Sharing and user access and assigned permissions to their respective folders to access. When i use an FTP client or select connect to server and type my ip address in a popup window appears and i enter the correct username and password i get the following response,
" *the username or password is not valid* " I have also setup the firewall correctly and assigned portforwarding on my router to accept connections from the ip address. Any help or a step by step guide to sort the issue out would be greatly appreciated.

Time Capsule - how to gain "over-the-internet" access from Windows 7!

I've been fighting for such a long time with my Time Capsule. I have no idea how to gain access "over-the-internet" on a PC (Windows 7) which is running on another network. My Time Capsule is set up with my Macbook Pro at home running Lion OSX, and i have internet connection. My brother who also uses Macbook has no problems connecting to my Time Capsule - through finder (connect to a server). But how do I gain "over-the-internet" access to my Time Capsule through a PC (Windows 7) from my office? Is there please someone who can guide me step-by-step, how to gain connection to my TC through a PC? Or maybe just an explantaion what has to be done on the PC before this thing can work out! This was the main reason to why i bought Time Capsule - besides of the Time Machine function. I also have an iCloud account (earlier Mobile Me), if that makes any difference.

There is no way to do it from windows direct to the TC.
It only presents AFP to the WAN side. And most ISP block SMB from internet access due to risks. There is AFAIK, no suitable AFP protocol utility for windows at the moment. If you google and find one, be aware it probably will not work to your satisfaction anyway.
You must use a Mac to access AFP but even then it is not a secure protocol and I would recommend against it anyway.
So basically if you had have asked before purchasing, I would have said, TC is unsuitable product. It is a backup drive for a Mac. It is not a NAS.. it is not designed for remote access by any computer other than a Mac. It does not support any other file protocol to the WAN interface.. and no secure protocol even there.
A NAS with Time Machine extensions from QNAP, Synology, Netgear all are designed for web access and are far more suitable. Researching a purchase beforehand is always worthwhile.
Anyway, your choices are.. return the TC and buy something more suited to the job.
Or if return is now impossible sell the TC on ebay.. etc and do the same thing.. buy a more suitable NAS.
Or buy a cheap mac mini (even second hand) and use that for communications with home.
Or, replace your current router with something that includes vpn. This is actually a good and commercially sound decision. VPN is generally used by business to connect to remote locations, because it is secure and will allow the greatest flexibility of connection. How hard or easy depends on the current setup. I would recommend a combined modem router with vpn server if you have adsl. Or for cable you can find plenty of routers with combined vpn. You can also use those for adsl if your ISP allows pppoe with bridged modem. The TC will have to be bridged as well. For other broadband it might be harder to find the right kind of box.
Once you setup a vpn you can access it from work using the appropiate vpn client in your work computer.

Cannot access RWA, VPN etc over the Internet but RDP OK - Essentials Role on WS2012R2

I have a Hyper-V VM with WS2012R2 installed plus the Essentials Experience Role with RWA and VPN enabled.
There are 2 virtual NICS one on the LAN and one on the Internet. Both display the RWA logon screen when accessed locally. Both allow RDP no problem including over the Internet.
However the RWA logon screen does not display when accessed over the Internet.
Any ideas? It's driving me crazy!

Hmm. It seems to work on both NICs locally but I take your advice.
I wouldn't want to open up the LAN NIC to the Internet so I think the Essentials Experience Role will be out. Shame.

Accessing my Time Capsule hard drive over the internet via iCloud doesn't work.

Hi Everyone,
I have an iCloud account and read recently, that it is possible to acces the hard drive of an Time Capsule over the internet, if "Back to my Mac" is activated on my MacBook an the Time Capsule.
I updated the Time Capsule to Firmware Version 7.6.1 and the Airport Utility to version 6. Actually the Time Capsule HDD is displayes in Finder's Sidebar, when I'm using a forreign internet connection. But when I click on it an error message tells me that a connection to the server (I assume server=Time Capsule) cannot be established. Funnily enough I can access the HDD of my iMac at home.
The Time Capsule network setting is "Bridge Mode" Since I can't deactivate the DNS functionality of my router/mode, an easybox 803 A, unfortunately which I cannot replace, because it is also used for hosting the telephone.
Does anybody have an idea, where the problem could be? Wrong settings in the Time Capsule config or maybe the blocking by the router?

Please consider, that I have absolutely no idea of networking.

I don't know exactly how, but I got it working. I will try to explain, what I did.
1. I used the easybox as DHCP-Server an set the TC to Bridge Mode.
2. Then I gave the TC a fixed IP in the easbybox menu by using it's MAC-address (It seems that the address range has to be either 192.168.X.Y or 10.0.X.Y to make the TC accessable later).
3. I made the TC a DHCP-Server (DHCP only, not also NAT). The IP addess range of the TC starts after it's own IP adress (10.0.0.111) and ends at (10.0.0.250). The IP range of the easybox starts with 10.0.0.1 (it's own) and end with the TC's (10.0.0.111).
4. Then the Airport Utility told me that if I want to share an DHCP range the TC has to be set to a fixed IP setting, which I set up, leaving the IP-address 10.0.0.111 and the Router IP 10.0.0.1 (the easyboxs').
5. Then it worked in my case. Since I don't even know what I did, I'm not shure if it workes under other circumstances.
There are of course many variables. Such as the type of the router and the TC or the kind of the internet connection.

You had already done "Repair" and "Rebuild"? These usually takes scores of minutes or hours.
Does the Library on your external drive work from the external drive? Navigate to it in Finder and double-click the name.
If it does, delete the problem Library, empty the System Trash, reboot, Verify your system disk using Disk Utility (and might as well repair permissions while you're at it), reboot, test the external drive Library once more to confirm it works properly, then close it and copy the Library to your system drive. When the copying is done, double-click the Library (now on the system drive) and see what you get.

I have my airport extreme connected to a USB hard drive an everything works fine at home. I have already configured the airport with my "me.com" info, but how do I access this drive over the internet using windows at work?

Hi, I am thinking about purchasing the time machine. Can the hard drive on the time machine be accessed remotely over the internet?

Do you realize that if you store some of your Mac's data (photos, music, etc.) ONLY on the external Time Capsule, AND also store your "Time Machine" app "system backups" on the Time Capsule,then if the Time Capsule hard drive ever fails you will have lost the " original" and the "backup" copies of all that data (photos, music, etc.)? They will be gone forever. NOT recommended!

Access TimeCapsule over the internet with Windows and Bonjour

I tried multiple things to access my Time Capusle over the internet but I can't figure it out. Obvioulsy everybody except me has a Mac. I will buy one soon, promise but now I need help with this Piece o S windows laptop.
I forwarded the port 548 on my modem to the capsule, it didnt work (I didnt mount the drive though since I dont know how with windows)
I clicked on sharing drives with bonjour in airport utility, created a host name username password but now how do I access it?
Within the network everything works fine. I can access the drive with iphone, ipad und Piece oS but not remotely.
Please help.

You cannot access it from windows.. sorry. Any files you want.. copy to the laptop beforehand or use cloud storage.

Hi, I've done a search and was wondering if there is any method of connecting to Time Capsule over the Internet. There are some ways, but the setup seems pretty complicated.
Has anyone found an easy method of doing this?

You have to enable WAN sharing. Then you can access the drive by going to the "go" menu and "connect to server" then typing in: "apf://your external ip". Then punch in your password and you should be connected. For your PC connection you need to go to my computer, right click on it, and select map network drive and type in: "\\your external ip\your disk name". Let me know if it works.

Unlikely .. because your TV uses a system called DLNA.. and Apple do not support DLNA in any way shape or form.. because they are fully committed to iTunes.. Apple routers have no media extensions.. unlike most other decent brands now which mostly do support multimedia.
Having said that.. you can place your video files on the external hard disk.. and play them.. but you need a player.. a real player not an apple TV which is a streamer.. eg A WD Live TV can play video files.. because it is a media player.. unlike your TV or apple TV.
