TC's "Archive" option in AU vs. SuperDuper Smart Update

i'd like to back up the contents of my TC. both my machines back up to it.
say i create 2 +back up+ sparse bundles on an external usb drive, connected to the TC, via the SuperDuper copy options, and continuously +smart update+ them. let's also say my TC croaks and i get it replaced or a new one. can i then clone the +smart updated+ sparse bundles from the usb drive back to the new TC and will TM +pick up+ the "new" sparse bundles ?
and, how would one go about restoring an archive created by AU via the disks tab ?
which option would be preferable ?

Sorry, that's not what I meant: you can restore the TM backups to your Mac via Time Machine.
Or, I'd guess that you can copy them back to the TC, either via the Finder (Snow Leopard only), or the Restore tab of Disk Utility.
Back to the "Archive" option, although the TC was designed and meant mostly for TM backups, many folks put other data there as well (or instead). Since many backup apps, including TM, won't back-up a network drive, folks use it for that.
Now that I think about it, I don't think SD will put a "clone" on a network drive. Have you tried whether it will do a non-clone type backup from a TC to a drive attached to the TC? I'd be surprised if it will.

There's no archive but you can just delete the online files from the server and keep the site in iWeb. When you want to reactivate the site just republish it.

It shouldn't be the problem with the authorization as "unable to archive" error comes once in a while. There can be some problem with loss of network, which might be creating this error.
A detailed error message will be helpful to assist you.

ColdFusion Archives option is missing

Hi,
I have a CF7 Standard installed on Windows 2003 Server with
IIS 5.1. I noticed that under Packaging and Deployment menu in
Coldfusion Administrator, the only option listed is J2EE archives.
ColdFusion Archives option is missing.
Any idea as why ColdFusion Archives is missing from
Coldfusion Administrator.

Joe, are you asking for clarification of Ian's suggestion, about removing the license key?
You do that by editing the [cf]\lib\license.properties file, where you'd remove the sn value (leave just sn=), then save and restart CF. of course, you want to copy it and put it back to revert back to that previous license when finished. (More in a moment.)
By removing the key this way,you revert CF to the Developer edition, which is the same functionality as Enterprise, but limited to localhost plus the first couple of IP addresses to hit the server (requests from other IPs beyond that are then are rejected until CF is restarted).
The only way to switch from Standard to Full Enterprise is to enter an Enterprise license key, of course. His point, though, was that for the sake of what you're doing, you could avoid that by just using the developer edition to create and then restore the archive.
As for adding the key back, you can do it either by putting it back in the license.properties file, or by using the "system information" page (click the "i" icon in the top right of the CF admin). Adding a license key there takes effect immediately, whereas again if you edit the license.properties file, you need to restart CF for it to take effect.

Apple left this out (along with a number of other features and functions) in the new "upgraded" AirPort Utility.
Suggest that you download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion , which offers far more functionality. This version was introduced on the same day as AirPort Utility 6.0, but apparently many users missed it.
You can keep both 5.6 and 6.0 on your Mac and use the one that you want.

Archiving option in output type

Hello Gurus,
I need information on wht exactly the archiving option in Output type will do. I have created a condition type to archive the document which has the storage mode as archive only.
I can view the document in VF07 but cannot see the document from SARA transaction. Could you plz clear me on this.

What is output?
Output is communication. When we create a transaction in sales & distribution, and save the transaction we may have to communicate to the concerned business partner about the transaction.
Example;
Customer--Purchase Order-VA01 (Create sales Order)- save the sales order- send the order confirmation to the customer
Here the output is Order confirmation
This output is sent to business partner-Customer-Sold to Party
Other Examples: Quotation, Invoice, Delivery note, Packing List
Output determination happens through Condition Technique.
Condition records are very important here. And these records contain answers to following questions.
a)     What is the Output Type? Order confirmation or Invoice etc
b)     Who is the recipient? A Sold-to-party or Payer etc.
c)     What is the media? Take print out and send, or as email? Or Fax? Or EDI (Electronic data Interchange)
d)     When output to be processed? Immediately when the transaction saved or scheduled to happen at particular Time etc
e)     In which language the output to be prepared

Archive option is not available in Infopackage

Hi,
The data is archived in R/3 system and I would like to extract the data from archived files. When i create the infopackage the archive option(button) is not getting displayed.
Please let me know if I am missing any setting to get the archive button displayed in the infopackage.

Archiving options for Outlook 2010/2013 Home and Business?

Forgive me if this is covered already (I am sure it would be somewhere but I could not find a definitive answer). We are looking at migrating from Google Apps to Exchange and I am trying to cost it all up and have a question in relation to archiving.
Our 450 users are not akin to archiving, given their gmail limits, they are just used to keeping everything, however with exchange that will have to change as we are going to host it locally.
The question I have is what archiving options are available to me given that all our office installations are Home and Business 2010/2013? I have read the compatibility matrix which says outlook in this product does not support in-place archiving.
To test this I created an in-place archive for my account (outlook 2010 H&B) and when I re-open outlook I get my archive mailbox showing up.
I have not yet tested the mailbox retention policies and such like but I thought I would just ask as to what options would be available to me given this situation?
Given that my archive is now showing in outlook, what has caused that to happen? I would have thought that if it was not supported that it would not have shown up at all? Can someone explain what functionality will not work and what will?
If we have to buy new copies of outlook for all our clients it just adds to the cost that I suspect will kill the move and management will say that we can stay on gmail.

I have activated Online Archiving (on-premises) feature for 3 accounts on our Exchange 2010 and set them up with Retention Policy which Move to archive items aged more than 6 months and all works fine and old Items automatically being moved to Online Archive
mailbox which just appeared after enabling this on server for above 3 accounts.
The server is Exchange 2010 and clients are Outlook H&B 2013 which comes with DELL systems.
We already purchased Enterprise Licenses as well and have access to Microsoft Download pages to get Outlook 2013.
But since above is working just fine, we really would like to know, if we don't install Outlook 2013 and activate it with that license what in fact we are missing in terms of functionalities regarding Online Archiving!
Really looking forward to hear back from you or anybody who can clear the confusion.

Your plugins list in "more system details" shows Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_31 for Mozilla browsers so Java should not be blocked.

By the way, I see in your plugins list that you also have the VLC media player Web Plugin 2.0.0 so, it's possible that the VLC plugin is causing a conflict if YouTube or other videos don't work. See [[Video or audio does not play]] (you may need to disable the VLC Media Player plugin in the Add-ons -> Plugins list for some media to play).

File adapter: Additional files option and Archive option

Hi all!
I configure file adapter to take file with two additional files. Additional files is optional. Also I configure to processing mode to archive.
So when I put all three files in folder everything works fine - all files are archived.
Problems begins when I put not all additional files for example:
1) when I put one main file and the FIRST additional file, files are archived, in communication channel monitoring i see error in message java.lang.NullPointerException, but message with payload transfers to IE successful.
2) when I put one main file and the SECOND additional file, the main file archived, the SECOND file NOT archived and stayed in source directory. In CC monitoring I see error message java.lang.NullPointerException, but message with payload transfers to IE successful.
Please provide me with some solution, because I need to archive all files.

Archiving Options for BPEL Instances, Comments and Attachments.

We have a SOA11g BPEL and Human Tasks custom application running for past one and half year, and we have lot of instances completed in the BPEL flow.
Are they any default options in SOA Suite where the instances get archived after specific period? If not what are the options to archive the Completed instance and respective Comments and Attachments. And to view them when required from the BPM worklist application.

Hi,
This somewhat date back to the way iChat's Saved Chats were once Stored.
At iChat 5 (in Snow Leopard) you could choose to see the last chat - (when opening an new chat with a person you had chatted with before) or parts of the Last Chat in terms of the Last so many IMs.

Since then the management choices of the Save Chats has changed in both iChat 6 and Messages.
Messages stores Chats two ways if they are iMessages.
You can elect to Save them in Messages > Preferences > Messages.
It also store the chat.db and other databases items which includes the Attachment items
The chat.db is the bit that fill in the "history" if you iMessage the same person even if you are not saving the Chat in a formal sense in the App's Preferences.
This is irrespective if your delete the Conversation from the Messages main window.
How big these Databases get obviously depends on your iMessages usage.
Striker's link seems to be about a similar issue on an iPhone (I presume it transfers to other iOS devices) but I am not sure that it is relevant in this situation.

I should have been clear that you cannot change the database behaviour.

is there an option to tell makepkg that the source files has already been extracted (in an earlier makepkg-run) and that it should go on without fresh extracting the whole source-tarball again
i'm asking, because it takes long to extract bz2 archives and if you play around with such packages it takes every time time
in man makepkg i wasnt able to find anything like that

-e..hmm...looks like the makepkg manpage needs an update. That flag shows up in makepkg --help, but not in the manpage..whoops..
Anyway, -e is still not what I am looking for. Let me give you all an example so you can potentially see what I am talking about..

The zip files are supposed to be moved, in their non-deflated state, to a specific subdirectory. The .tgz file IS needed to be extracted. Extracting the zips doesn't really hurt anything, in this case, as the subdirectories are named differently (most likely this is nearly always the case). It does make a mess of the src directory though. A pain, and mostly cosmetic.
Like I said, not a big deal. This is the first package I have encountered where it even mattered.
