TC Wifi is intermittent and drops devices

Purchased a month ago. Easy setup. I have several devices (two 4s, two 5s, ipad air, mac book pro and mac air) All are having same problem. the device connects and speed is fine. a few minutes later the device is slow to connect and the overall speed is very slow for a period as if it was being regulated. sites like Facebook only partially load etc. If I ping an external IP address It hesitates and then I get blazing speeds). The TC is on a coffee table and very close to all devices. there does not seem to be any interference. (as an fyi I have a netgear that this was going to replace that is buried in a closet on the other side of the house and works perfectly. Any help would be appreciated.

For me, the wifi element of TC2 is the problem. Just re-ran the Speedtest.net through TC2 on both my MBA (802.11n) and my son's MBP (802.11ac) and we both got download greater than 22Mbps with upload of 7.7Mbps. And really, that's the problem - TC2 is so unstable.
Yes,, you are right.. there is a problem. Not sure if it is always wireless but that is possible. The Gen5 TC and Gen6 AE have been problematic since their introduction.
You need to do the internal LAN test when it goes bad to see where the issue is.. it might not be wireless at all.
You cannot downgrade the firmware from 7.7.3 but you can reset the TC2 to factory and redo the setup..
Use all SMB names.. that is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. I also want you to use different names on the two bands so you can test if the issue is on 5ghz only. So name the TC, TC2 if you haven't already. Name the wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz.
The simply mount the hard disk of the TC into finder..
ie in Finder if the TC is not showing, use Go, Connect to server. Type,
AFP://TC2.local
When asked the disk password please fill that in and save into your keychain..
Open the data share on the TC and create a new directory eg.. test.. then simply copy the large file from the computer to the TC.
Open activity monitor to track its progress.
It is very straight forward but if there is something you don't follow please ask specifically what you don't follow.
MOST IMPORTANT. IPv6 is set to link-local only.. not automatic.
Test again with ethernet if you have the Thunderbolt to ethernet adapter or son's MBP as ethernet port. Ethernet test should also have IPv6 set correctly.. and plugged directly into the TC2.

It's important that you have a steady WiFi connection, ZealousEdge. What phone do you have? Is your phone unable to connect to any WiFi network? If you can, please try deleting the saved WiFi network and re-adding it.

Wifi connection intermittent with ipad... but fine with my other devices

wifi is working with my laptops, pc and smartphones. however, for some reason the two ipads would get intermittent connections and drop off very frequently. any ideas?

Others have posted similar reports on the forums. What kind of router do you have? What version of iOS is on your iPad? Did you always have these issues? When did they start?
I also have the connectivity problem between my Cisco WRVS4400N router and my iPad. My issues began immediately upon upgrading to iOS 4.2.1.
I've tried many (if not all) of the suggestions posted on the various threads in the forum. In the end I found exactly two router settings that made any difference.
1. Changing my router channel bandwidth from 20 mHz/40 mHz to 20 mHz caused a significant improvement in my iPad's network throughput. It nearly doubled as tested using the speedtest.net app available for download. +This did not, however have any effect on the connection drops.+
2. Changing my WPA2 key renewal interval from the default of 3600 seconds to 99999 seconds reduced the number of drop outs from "frequently" to 1 or 2 times a day. So it's not fixed, but reduced to the point of being tollerable instead of infuriating.
My opinion on the matter is that some part of the handshake that the WPA specification says must occur during a key renewal is failing. Since every other device I own works correcty--and even the iPad did prior to the upgrade, I assume this means that the problem lies on the iPad side, and not with my router. However short of putting my iPad and router into a faraday cage and analyzing the wireless traffic between them, I cannot confirm this.
The only suggestion I have had from apple support (and one you will see made frequently here) is to take my iPad to some unsecure wireless network and test it there. Which, of course, doesn't exercise the key renewal problem suggested above.
You should first contatct apple support and let them know you are having trouble. Have as much information as possible, and mention that others online are having similar issues.
Then, if they cannot help you, you can start with the suggestions here and in other threads.

Since upgrading to Lion OS, the wifi connectivity keeps blocking up intermittently and we need to manually keep switching on and off the wifi utility to get the connection back. even locking the preferred wifi network in system preferences does not help.

This is a big thank you to Rys Sinnefeldt who posted this fix.
Rys has made this fix very easy to do and takes literally 2 mins. It involves replacing the Atheros Lion driver 4.0 and replacing it with the snow leopard driver. Don't worry, Rys has made this so simple to do even I could do it and so far I have had no more wifi drops.

How come no voice memo files show up when I go into my iPhone via My Computer? All it shows are the videos and pictures in the DCIM folder, but not the voice memos. Is there another way to access the voice memos other than through iTunes?

Email it to yourself, then save the file and then see if you can convert it to MP3.

go to itunes preferences, store, uncheck automatic downloads. also when your phone is connected you can click on apps and only check the ones you want on your phone, go down to the bottom right and click apply.

you have to set up your router to solve th problem. first find and write down the ipad mac address.
then log on to your router using your laptop or any device that can connect to router at 192.168.0.1 in your web browser. please check out my posting about how to resolve the wifi connection problem.
i think the ios6 update has reset the networking but if you set up the router then you should not have the same problem any more.

Particularly but not exclusively of note:
If the AirPlay icon doesn't appear
Ensure that you have followed the steps in using AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring.
If you are still unable to see the AirPlay icon , try one of the following steps:
If trying to AirPlay, or AirPlay mirror, to your Apple TV, ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your Apple TV as well. You can enable or disable AirPlay on Apple TV in the AirPlay menu: Settings > AirPlay.
Check Internet or network connectivity on all affected devices. Some content requires an Internet connection to authorize content playback. AirPlay capabilities may be limited if your network is not connected to the Internet.
If attempting to use AirPlay from a third-party app or a website from your Safari app on your iOS device, confirm that the app or website is AirPlay compatible (refer to the developers of the app or website for additional information).

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Try right next to the router
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
