TC/wifi issue since OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 update

I have a flat Airport Time Capsule 2TB and an iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
We have wireless in the apartment and receive it through CenturyLink.
The TC and iMac are 2 years old. The Century Link 802.11n WiFi router is about three months old.
We used the TC to set up a network in the house and connect two iPhones and the iMac to it.
Everything was fine until last Yosemite update a few weeks ago (12/12/14, I think).
The problem: the TC blinks amber and does not set up our household network.
In the Airport Utility the Airport Time Capsule's status = three amber lights
+ ethernet unplugged (it's not)
+ internet connection (it's there)
+ no dns servers ("The Airport base station doesn't have any DNS server addresses and might have trouble connecting to the internet.")
The iMac still connects to the internet via the WiFi router and the network set up there.
Our iPhones intermittently connect to it.
I've tried to reset the TC and the router.
I've switched the ethernet cord.
I'm certain we don't have an internet provider problem.
For some reason, the TC will not catch the signal from the router, even though the iMac can.
I've read some fixes proposed by "LaPastenague" but we don't have any non-Apple products (except the iPhones; will these work?)to try the Yosemite run-around.
Thanks for your help, Community!
Happy New Year -
Adam

+ ethernet unplugged (it's not)
This looks like the problem.
If you have ethernet plugged into the Century router and TC wan port and there is no actual connection something is wrong.
I've switched the ethernet cord.
The one from router to TC I guess?
Is the connectivity light on.. on both the TC wan port and the router LAN port?
The TC should be in bridge mode.. with create a wireless network, is it??
Plug the ethernet into LAN port, 1, 2 or 3.. and see if the light goes on the TC starts working.
Your TC could be damaged.. or it could be setup in the wrong mode.
Tell me more if the above doesn't work.

  • Safari Issues Since Upgrading to Yosemite

Since the Yosemite update we have been having major issues with Safari ... I've tried changing the setting, restarting, etc but there has been no change.  Below is a screenshot of what comes up when we open Safari:
To get a window we have to two finger click on the Safari icon then click new window.
Also, when I try to open a new tab the screen goes blank, shows Apple.com in the address bar and freezes.
Safari frequently freezes and is inoperable in full screen mode.  Any assistance/suggestions are welcome!!
Is this happening to anyone else? How did you fix it?

  • WiFi issues since updating to Mavericks

Having recently bought my MacBook Air, it came with Mountain Lion as the preinstalled OS. I decided to update to Mavericks last night, and installed from the Mac App Store. The install was obviously simple, but it has thrown up an issue that I did not anticipate.
I am able to access WiFi at all times, but only an active internet connection whilst in the Recovery mode. Whilst running Mountain Lion I had no issues, and my router settings have not changed in this time. I have done one reinstall of Mavericks whilst in Recovery mode to see if that would fix the issue, but still no joy.
Not exactly the experience I had hoped for, and at the moment I am almost ready to throw in the towel. I know this issue is not with my router or network config. It is the MacBook Air, AirPort is an extremely poor way to connect to a wireless network as far as I am concerned.
Any help is much appreciated. I was thinking that maybe a complete shutdown might fix this issue; so I will try that now and see if a full system reboot will jog the MacBook into connecting to the web, rather than stalling on the WiFi network and going no further.

If it is only with your home network reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds.

  • Ipad 2 wifi issues since updating to ios version 4.3.3..

I have tried everything to remedy this on my own but to no avail.  I am picking up a great signal strength from my wifi on my ipad 2, but I just don't seem to get enough 'juice' to load a webpage.  I seem to be able to check email every now and then....this is incredibly frustrating.  This is my first Apple product that has wifi (have had ipods for a while) and I am not liking this at all.  I use my ipad 2 for everything now, I need help!

Glad/sad to see it's not just me.  Hopefull they will publish a fix for the last fixsoon.  I've tried all the remedies on CultoOfMac, to no avail either.
iPad1 and iPhone4 both TKO'ed at this point.  Very sad to see it happen in the middle of a session or appstore download!!!

  • Wifi issue since update

Since I updated to 2.1 I can no longer connect to a hot spot that I used to be able to.anyone else have this or know of a fix?cheers

You can try selecting the network and then select Forget this Network.
This will erase the network settings from your iPhone.
Try joining the network again as a new network.

  • VPN issues since OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 update using GlobalProtect

Has anyone had any difficulties connecting via a GlobalProtect VPN since updating to OS X Mavericks 10.9.5? (GlobalProtect is a product from Palo Alto Networks).
We can still seem to make a connection (as in the VPN connects) however we can no longer access any URL's or RDP to the server.
It still works on PC's, so we're assuming this must be part of the upgrade. In the upgrade notes, it says 'improves the reliability of VPN connections that use USB smart cards for authentication'. We don't use USB smart cards, so thinking this must have had some effect.
Any help would be hugely helpful.

I have the same problem here: Using GlobalProtect and got no connection after updating to Yosemite. The TCP/IP IPv4 is set to DHCP and I have already tested it with a new network location but everything failed on WLAN as well as on ethernet. Is there any solution available?
BTW: After the GlobalProtect App tried to dial in several times it freezes and I can only start a new dial in after rebooting the Mac. There is also no possibility to quit the GlobalProtect App, only deinstallation works - am I using the last version? It is 2.0.4-6.
I am on home office using my own device (iMac) and it is a real pitty to have no vpn access. Thanks for any help in advance!

  • MBA wifi issues

Hi, my mba is the 2012 model, running OS X Mountain Lion10.8.4, I have this wifi issues since the previous version of Mountain Lion
The thing is my macbook cannot access to the internet although it is shown to be connected to the wireless router, my other device like ipad and iphone still be able to surf the web just fine while connecting to the wifi, my flatmate who use a PC never got this issue. And when I go to Safari, the web page just simply not loading instead of popping up the notice "you are not connected to the internet" as i turn off my wifi
This can go on for hours until I can access to the internet again, and this can happen many times a day.
I tried rebooting my MBA, and turn off/on my wifi but it wont work, the only thing that usually worked is reboot my router.
My router is Netgear  dg834g running firmware v.3.01.38, I'm not sure if this is the problem with my router or my mac
    Please help!
P.S: the wireless diagnostics didnt help much.

  • Does ios 6.1.3 wifi issues get solved in next update?

Has anyone solved their wifi issues after new update of ios ? Coz i am having wifi issues since i updated my iphone 4s to 6.1.2 . I dont think it is a hardware failure... I have tried resetting my iphone as new device. I have checked my router settings which is a netgear make.
Please help if new software updates help solve this problem? I have updated this from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 but unfortunately  the problem persisted after updating my device to latest ios running. I guess many are having same issues. GUYS WE MUST DO SOMETHING SO THAT APPLE LISTENS US ATLEAST.

I'm having the same issue since 6.1.2. I worked throught the various checklists and nothing has worked. What I have noticed is most of the 'fixes' require me to do someithing with my home router. I don't understand that as I use my phone as a hotspot or internet connection while I'm away from home and on 3G. That part doesn't make sense.
When the phone is connected it is recognized in iTunes but not in the System Preferences Network Settings page.
I used to connect my phone to my Mac via USB and opt to use the USB Only option for HotSpot with the Mac WIFI off. The blue bar on the phone comes on indicating that HotSpot is working. It has worked for me like that until 6.1.2. Since then the USB Only option does not work and I have to use WIFI on both the phone and the Mac. If I'm lucky, I get a connection and can get my mail and do some surfing before it drops the connection. The blue bar that comes up on the phone is there indicating the hotspot is on, but the connection is lost. A dozen or so resets, of either my Mac or my phone, later and I might get a connection again. That's no way to do business.
All I did was update the phone when it told me there was an update available. Did I miss something?

  • Persistent WiFi Issues

Apple! In the name of all that is HOLY, please fix wifi in Lion. There have been persistent wifi issues since the last Leopard OS update.

One last detail, connectivity through my iPhone's hotspot works completely fine. No idea if that is related / helpful in any way.

  • Is Wifi issue fixed with the 3.1 update for 1st Gen Touch?

I have a 1G Touch and I have been reluctant to upgrade to 3.0 because of the issues people seem to be having with wifi once they upgrade.
My wifi on 2.2.1 is fine, and I don't want to mess it up...but more and more apps require 3.0.
I'd like to know whether people are finding that the wifi issues are finally resolved with the 3.1 update...or not.
    Opinions?

I upgraded to 3.0 as soon as I got my iPod Touch, so have always had the wifi problems. My home wifi works fine, though slowish. My broadband is a pretty consistent 5.9Mb/s. With 3.0 I was getting under 2.0Mb/s. With 3.1.1 I get between 2.0Mb/s and 3Mb/s (once I got 3.9Mb/s, but only once). I notice from the tests that the meter surges quickly up to about 5Mb/s before dropping like a stone to 2.4Mb/s or 2.8Mb/s. I would be happy for this to be improved but it doesn't really bother me.
But with Public wifi, it's a different story. I get everything from logging on immediately and working perfectly to not working at all. When I can log on to Public wifi, I notice two things. First, it's pretty well certain to fail with secure pages. Second, if it fails to connect the first time, stopping and restarting it will often produce a result. These are classic signs of DNS problems, as I recall from previous Mac upgrades.
I love the iPod, but I would love it even more if the wifi worked the way it's supposed to.

  • Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out.  Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping.  I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked.  I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer.  I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved.  I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed.  I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite.  I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to create a secure network on my MB air with OS X Yosemite?
    Any ideas?
In the pervious OS version when you create a network on from the WIFI icon on the top of the desktop, there are
    1) network name
    2) channel
    3) type of password
    4) key in password.
Now with OS X yosemite, there is only
    1) network name
    2) channel
When the network is created there is not IP.
I am trying to use "airserver" a third party app to help project my iPad air to my MB air.
I am trying to do this when I am conducting the class and I would like to record my lesson.
    Please advise.
My way of getting around this is to use Airport Express and create my own network that link MB air and iPad air.
But i do not want to look like a gadget guys and bring so many hardware to class... haha...
    Hope someone have an alternative.
    Cheers,
    Andy

Noooo! Actually I too had d same prob wit my iPhone 4S. When I connect to my wifi network it won't get connected or it wil be grey scaled! I took it to d istore and since I had warranty they replaced my IPhone. It iPad charger has high volt than ur iPhone charger so when u connect wit it, there is a chance where large amount of current passes thru ur iPhone. So for sure it wil damage ur motherboard and its parts! Many said that iOS 6 or 6.0.1 or 6.1 was d reason for tis wifi prob! But apple never made its mistake wit it's software. If and only if u hav hardware prob u wil hav these sort of wifi prob Bluetooth prob! So best way s to replace ur iPhone!
