TCP/IP communication between labview and microchip board

Hi
I have a microchip board which sends out data over the Ethernet. I have to read this data and use for further mathematical computations on it. So I decided to use some available examples on Labview. I find that all examples come as a pair, client-server. But in my case the board will be the server ( providing data continuously) and Computer with Labview will act as a client (Continuous receiving). Is there any readily available example on Labview for this purpose. If not, can you please suggest which example I need to modify for my purpose? Thanks

LabVIEW has no "predesribed" packet format, and it doesn't take packets apart. LabVIEW operates at the application level, so the OS is responsible for providing the data that's contained in the packet to LabVIEW. LabVIEW just sees the data in the packets.
Have you verified that a connection is actually being made? You said that the LabVIEW should listen to this port. Did you create a listener on the LabVIEW side? Does the microchip code indicate a connection? You may want to use Wireshark to capture the packets to see exactly what is going on.

It will depend on your method of communication with the device. If it is RS232 you can go to the example finder (Help > Find Examples) and search for RS232 or however you plan on communicating with the device. Or you can browse the catagories for examples on various topics.
Depending on the device the manufacturer may have LabVIEW drivers on their web site. But anybody will need more information on the analyzer and the signals before you can be helped.

Communicating between LabVIEW and Basic Stamp 2.0

Hello,
We are trying to control the movement of a Parallax Boe-Bot (robot with
Board of Education) via LabView programming. The BOE operates on
Basic Stamp programming to control the pulse width sent to two servo
motors.
Is there a way to establish communication between LabVIEW and Basic
Stamp 2.0? We need to send commands from LabVIEW to the
Basic Stamp to control the pulse width and therefore the rotation of
the two servo motors. We also need to send a signal from an
accelerometer based on the robot to the LabVIEW ADC.
The ultimate goal is to do this with wireless communication, but for
right now we are simply trying to figure out any way to send the data
between LabVIEW and the Basic Stamp.
Any ideas?

Hi Adam,
You can communicate with a BASIC Stamp microcontroller over GPIB using VISA. To see some LabVIEW example code, just search for GPIB in the NI Example Finder (Help>>Find Examples). This will show you the basics of GPIB communication in LabVIEW. I also found this link by searching the NI discussion forums for "basic stamp"

Here you can download an example using LabVIEW 7.0 or higher to communicate with a BASIC Stamp 2.

Some problems in TCP/IP communication between PC&DSP

I have programmed a VI for TCP/IP
communication between PC (Client) and DSP (Server), which could be downloaded
at below link. It just achieves some basic features, like send commands to DSP
to set some registers, and receive data or status from DSP. Additionally I programmed
a Sever vi in labview to test the client. You know the real Server is in the
DSP programmed using C language.
My problems are:
1.
I don’t know how to add some “stop”
in the two VIs to get out of the loops, I tried but it didn’t work well.
2.
I’m not clear to add some error
handles, you know when I stop the vi by pushing the round red button to stop the
vi, it turns out some error dialog about TCP/IP.
3.
It is about the TCP/IP. when
the server writes data to connection ID, if the client doesn’t read them, then
where the data goes?

Communication between : AP and WLAN controller

Hi,
The communication between AP and WLAN Controller is ( Data and Control ) UDP.
Source port 1024 and destination port 12222 and 12223. Actually which device listen to which port or both should listen as control and data can be generated from both the devices.
How does the user ( wireless client) traffic is switched - if user traffic is a TCP traffic. It will be sent to WLANC and then WLANC forwards it to respective VLAN or default gateway ( depending upon the destination in the packet ).
Please explain / share the experience.

"the LWAPP Control and Data messages are encapsulated in UDP packets that are carried over the IP network. The only requirement is established IP connectivity between the access points and the WLC. The LWAPP tunnel uses the access point's IP address and the WLC's AP Manager interface IP address as endpoints. The AP Manager interface is explained in further detail in the
implementation section. On the access point side, both LWAPP Control and Data messages use an ephemeral port that is derived from a hash of the access point MAC address as the UDP port. On the WLC side, LWAPP Data messages always use UDP port 12222. On the WLC side, LWAPP Control messages always use UDP port 12223.
The mechanics and sequencing of Layer 3 LWAPP are similar to Layer 2 LWAPP except that the packets are carried in UDP packets instead of being encapsulated in Ethernet frames."

Francesco, Thank you for the feedback. With this component it was my intention to make a more "terse" version of the LabVIEW Flatten to XML VI that was also supported on RT and that gave the user more flexbility regarding the structure of the parsing type definition. I think you are right that the XML parser is not compliant to section 2.11 of the XML spec. The parser does specifically looking for a #D#A and this appears to be an oversight on my part. Please confirm for me, the specifcation is saying that the XML parser should be able to recognize three possibilities as an "end of line" character: #D#A, #D, or #A. Am I reading this right?There are more efficient (and in some cases much more efficient) ways of sharing data between LabVIEW and LabVIEW: some examples are flattened binary strings and the datalog binary format. XML is slower than these optons but the upside is that it is human readable. Furthermore XML is inherently hierarchical which is convenient for complex data structures like clusters of arrays of clusters, etc. If you don't care about human readability then you are correct XML doesn't make as much sense.I will return to the GXML source code and try to fix this in the near future but I would hope that instead of creating yet another custom VI from scratch that you could reuse what I have provided for you. I included enough documentation in the source code so that users could make some modificiations themselves. The target application for this reference library was LabVIEW to LabVIEW communication. As such I documented the schema on the dev zone document from a LabVIEW perspective. It includes all the supported datatypes and all the supported data structures (cluters, arrays, multidimensional arrays, clusters of multidimensional arrays, etc.) I do see some value in making a more conventional XML spec but the time investment required didn't really line up with my intended use case. We are planning to implement CRM E-commerce and wanted to find out more detail about the communication between CRM and ERP systems. Do they need to communicate in real time for this application, or is it mainly initial and delta loads? Is the amount of data exchanged huge ( necessitating both systems to be on the same network, or can they be on separate geographical locations )?
We also understand that E-commerce can also be done only using ERP. How does that differ from the CRM version?

Ans. CRM and ECC communicate using RFC connections which further uses TCP/IP as the protocol.The communication can be both real time { delta loads} or offline {initial download}.

Ans. The amount of data can be huge hence its preferable that both systems to be on the same network.
Q 3. We also understand that E-commerce can also be done only using ERP. How does that differ from the CRM version
Ans.Theres no difference functionally but technically the application connects to the ECC system using JCO to execute all the RFC enabled function modules.

Is in PI7.1 possible asynchronous communication between SOAP and ABAPProxy?

Hi,
when method execute_asynchronous has disapeared since XI/PI 7.1, is
there still way how to use ABAP proxy in asynchronous way?
We need to build asynchronous connection SOAP->PI->ABAP_Proxy.
In PI, both interfaces are defined as asynchronous (outbound for SOAP and
inbound for ABAP Proxy).
Despite of this fact, when message is sent, it is processed
synchronous way.
I have set breakpoint in my implementation of method for ABAP Proxy
message processing. When message is sent and breakpoint is reached,
whole connection stays open (between SOAP and PI and between PI and
ABAP Proxy) and waits for processing method (the breakpointed one) to
return. Only when processing method returns, is connection finelly
closed.
If i understand it correctly, this is synchronous behavior. In
asynchronous behavior, as i understand it, should be connection
between PI and ABAP Proxy of application server closed immediately
after message has been delivered. This mean before my processing
method is even called.
The same could be said about SOAP and PI communication. Connection
should be closed immediately after PI has received message. From
definition of asynchronous communication of PI is obvious, that PI
should receive message correctly and close connection to sender system
even when receiver is unreachable. It should deliver message later
when, receiver system is back on line. So why it keeps connection to
sender system open while it waits for receiver?
Why is this happening, when both interfaces are defined as
asynchronous? Could be the reason for this, if APPLICATION
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT is set on by default? If so, how can i change it
to SYSTEM ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, or disable it at all?
Or is this kind of asynchronous communication even possible since
XI/PI 7.1 ?
Processing of message we are sending can take some time, so we dont
want connection pending open while waiting for finish of
processing. Thats the reason why we have chose asynchronous model to
use.

waits if some error occure or not. I dont want it. Once PI has
received message, I want the connection with sender to be closed. If
there will be error in communication between PI and reciever, I want
to see it only in PI log. That mean no notification to sender to be

Tcp data b/w labview and c++

Hi
i am trying to establish TCP connection b/w LABVIEW and C++ program. Server is established in C++ while client is implemented in labview.Although connection is successfully establish b/w server and client, both are unable to correctly understand data send/receive among them. Forexample if i want to send an int type send_array from server, i use standard WINSOCK function "send" like that:
send(AcceptSocket,(char*)send_array,129*4,0);
but when client in labview receive this array, it shows unexpected values.As a client, I used "simple data client.vi" with one modification i.e. as sent data size(129*4 bytes) was fixed, only one TCP read was used .
Same problem exists if i send data from client to server.

It's probably an big/little edian problem. If you are using the Flatten/Unflatten from String functions, you can specify which to use.

To achieve this, I am trying to access the part of the applet that defines and sets the textbox. The text box is defined in the .class file by accessing the parameter details in the genericfilter.txt file (accompanies the .class files). I need to access 'private String appletInitialize()' and then one of the 'textFieldParameters' which sets the textbox.
I understand the basic syntax for referencing the applet:
document.appletname.setString("An example"). However, accessing the text fields in this applet is more complex!!
Please can you recommend the correct Javascript syntax to achieve communication with the applet.

Communication between javascript and Objective-c in iOS.

We wanted to have a communication between javascript and objective c code. We have already tried the below approach.
To load fake URLs in JS and append a string which will be used as parameter to the Objective-C code and parse that URL in this delegate method:
-(BOOL)webView(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType
Then send the return value by calling the native method stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString again with parameter callID.
But we wanted to access Objective class object in Javascript code so that we can call it's methods from javascript code using this object.Android supports this behaviour using addJavaScriptInterface method in webview. Is it possible to have the similar approach in IOS? If not what is the best approach possible to acheive this? If we could achieve similar behaviour then we don't need to change the Jacascript code and will be reused. Please suggest the best possible solution.

Can anybody please help with resolving the following issue:
Short dump is displayed, when I try to insert CRM product (type: material) in the document (opportunity). This CRM product was created in CRM directly.
When I try to insert ECC migrated material, everything works fine.
Here is the details of dump:

    Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLPRC_INT" - in "GET_PRICING_PROCEDURE_INFO".
    The main program was "SAPMHTTP ". In the source code you have the termination point in line 100 of the (Include) program "LPRC_INTF35".
