TDMS Migration from ECC 5.0 to 6.05
Does TDMS version 4.0 supports data migration between ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0 EhP5? With the upcoming release of LVM into ramp-up, would this be a better alternative?
Hi,
No, TDMS does not support data transfer between system of different release.
How LVM will help you in doing data transfer between different releases ? As per my understanding LVM is totally different tool than TDMS.

SRM 7.0 Central Contracts Migration from ECC existing contracts
Hi colleagues
We are facing the implementation of SRM 7.0 in a client who has ECC installed and we have a doubt with contract migration
We are considering using SRM Central Contracts in order to get them replicated on ECC
All the contracts "alive" that exist in ECC should be created on SRM as central Contracts. The problem is that when you create a SRM central contract the system will replicate it to ECC ... in that case we will have the same contract twice on ECC
Does anybody face this situation?
I figure out that if at the moment we are creating SRM central contracts we turn off XI/PI the system would not replicate the contract to ECC but I think it would return an error without creating the contract on SRM... and even if we managed to create the central contracts in SRM without replicating them to ECC we would have the problem that both contracts wouldn´t be linked
We can´t consider the solution to be creating those contracts on SRM as SRM local contracts because we need to follow contract cicle in SRM after migration
Could anybody help me out with these?
Thanks
RegardsHello,
You can upload contracts from ECC to SRM using report BBP_CONTRACT_INITIAL_UPLOAD in SRM.
If you want take care of document type mappings/ Condition type mappings, use badi BBP_CTR_INIT_UP in SRM.
Thanks,

Issue in Temp table creation in PCM Databridge and data migration from ecc to PCM using databridge
Hi,
we are working on mapping SAP PCM table structure data and the data which is coming from ECC.
We are using Databridge tool to upload the data for the same, upload from databridge involves
using Specification file to upload the data into SAP PCM.
The problem we are facing is that
The responsiblity center(cost center) in ECC and SAP PCm are different. There is one to many relationship between them
eg 1 ecc cost center-->many SAP PCM cst center,we need to split the line item vale of one ecc cost center into many SAP PCM cost centers
eg C1 cost center from ECC has value 4000 to be split across PCM1,PCM2,PCM3,PCM4 cost centers in SAP PCM
we need to automate using the databridge ,we are stuck up in this task.
Please guide us.
Also we are trying to create temporary table usinf Table temporary command in SPE file of databridge. The purpose of this is to put the ECC data in temp table as per our req and then use the temp table as data source for putting data in PCm as per our requirement.
Please advise us on this approach

Data Migration from R3 to new ECC System
Hello,
We are doing a fresh implementation for SAP MDM. Currently we have 3 SAP R/3 systems and 1 non-R3 system (BPCS system). One of the project goals is to do data migration from all these 4 systems into a new SAP ECC system and to MDM for Vendor Master, Customer Master and Material Master. My manager says that we need Business Objects tool to Migrate these data. But, my question is that is it not possible to achive this through XI/PI itself ? Can anyone let me know the entire process in XI/PI as to how do I receive the Idocs from R/3, convert into XML and then send it to the new ECC system in Idoc format ?
Thks & Rgds,
HemaHi Gandhi,
You have SAP MDM, BPC and R/3 systems in your landscape, when you are migrating data to new ECC system, what is the role of mdm, did you moving the same data to MDM to avoid duplicate/redundant data??is there any data migration from R/3 to MDM(any integration required)or MDM to R/3,
You have to develop different interfaces to transfer data from MDM to ECC, BPC to ECC.definelty you required one middleware, the option definitely SAP PI. it offers very easy of integration between MDM and R/3 system, you can use MDM-PI adapter to connect to directly MDM syndicator file port from there you can pull the XML file and convert it in to IDoc format use Receiver IDoc adapter in PI, the same way we can integrate BPC system with R/3.
Search in sdn, there are some scenarios integration of R/3 and MDM using PI, refer those links, if still you have any doubts let me know,

Data migration from 4.7 system to ECC 6.0
Hi All,
I am a Solution Architect. Currently working on a typical pursuit requirement. the requirement is as below:
One of our customer is currently on SAP 4.7 system. Their current system is shared by 2 companies & the companies got demerged now. Hence they are palnning for fresh ECC 6.0 implementation & migrating Master data & transactional data related to this customer from the current 4.7 system to ECC 6.0.
I am seeing possible way for data migration is through ALE or LSMW. But I am not confident about the execution plan & process.
I would wish to know from you people is:
1. The different methods to do data migration from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 with pros & cons
2. How to plan for data migration
3. Risks & mitigations during data migration
4. different kind of skill set & duration required to accomplish this requirement
Currently we are planning for 6 months for the ECC 6.0 core modules implementation.
If you have undergone this kind of project then request you to share your experience. Any information on this regard is appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,

Considerations on migrating from TDM PRI's to SIP Trunking?
Hello,
We are planning a migration from traditional TDM PRI's to SIP trunking for inbound toll-free and outbound LD telephone traffic. Currently, we have 7 x PRI's connected to a 3945 router feeding our CUCM 8.6 system. This works fine. We are planning on making use of a 100 Mb data circuit to bring in SIP service from our carrier. This would terminate on our 3945 voice gateway. We would have roughly the same number of SIP concurrent call paths as we have PRI channels (162).
I know that the 3945 makes heavy use of DSP resources to handle the PRI traffic. Are DSP resources needed for SIP traffic as well?
Will the SIP usage (162 SIP concurrent call paths) cause similar router utilization as the PRI's (router CPU, memory, etc.)?
What are other things we should look out for in this migration?
Thank you!
Brian1. Just to add to the excellent tip provided by George (+5), Here is the capacity matrix for the 3900 gateways. Your 3945 can support 950 concurrent calls. So in terms of capacity, you are well taken care of.

2. You should definitely make provisions for dsps. You may need DSPs for MTP, xcoding, etc. Especially with SIP, MTP may be needed for DTMF mistmatch, supplementary services etc
3. One of the most important thing to consider is the codec you will use for your calls. Your users are used to PSTN (TDM). Using G711 on your sip calls is not even the same as the traditional PSTN. The quality will be noticeable. Using G729 is going to be distinct. I have seen where users complain of this during a deployment. Using G729 will be a rude shock and they may not like it.
4. You also need to consider your analogue options etc FAX. What fax protocol does your ITSP support etc...We have been sued before by a customer because their fax machines didnt work. The ITSP said it supported T.38 while in reality it didnt.
5. In terms of memory utilization and CPU, I will think that it should be less for IP-IP call. This is because in an IP-TDM call, your router is constantly encoding via your dsp the IP payload (codecs) to TDM for transimissiont ot he PSTN. This wont be happening any more. -
Migration from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 - Deactivate Update of Classic General Ledger
My client has migrated from 4.7 to ECC 6 version. In the ealier version we had a report developed in FI Module, which was created as a local object.
Now when we are trying to activate the same development in ECC 6.0 and I am trying to use the dynamic selections option of this report, system is throwing an error and taking to this customisation node :
Fin Accounting Global Settings (New)->Tools ->Deactivate Update of Classic General Ledger (GLT0).
Can I know the implications of this option ? Can I deselect the check boxes mentioned in this node ? What could be the consequences ?
Please guide me.
Thanks
RaviHi
GLTO is the table that used to get updated with the totals prior to ECC 6.0 (in 4.7).
After migrating into ECC 6.0 the GLTO is no more valid and the new table FAGLFLEXT replaces GLTO.
SAP also recommends to deactivate the update of GLTO via Fin Accounting Global Settings (New)->Tools ->Deactivate Update of Classic General Ledger (GLT0) once you have establised that the new GL is working correctly.
I dont foresee any consequences of deactiavting GLTO if the new GL has been activated in your new client and you are sure that the NEW GL is working correctly.
Good Luck

Migration to ECC 6.0 from Older versions
Hi
We want to migrate from two versions namely 3.1i and 4.6c (both of them in separate instances) to a unified ECC 6.0 in a different server.
Scenario 1: We are not planning any new functionalities but just to replicate the old functionalities as well as Old org structure in ECC 6.0.
Scenario 2: Alternatively assuming we have two Op Concerns and 3 Controlling areas in both the versions. We merge the Op Concern into one and have 2 or 1 Controlling area(s) in ECC 6.0, what could be the potential issues.
What is the best practice and what could be the potential issues, especially this migration happens in the middle of the fiscal year.
Any inputs in this regard will be highly appreciated.

hi,
Can I migrate my users in ECC5.0 to EP 6.0 (14)? Is there a document around, if so can I have it please? I know we can point UME to use ECC5.0 as a source, but I want to know is there a way to export users from ECC and import them on to EP.
Thanks for your time in advance.

Workflows to migrate from 4.6C to ECC 6.0
Hello,
We have to migrate from 4.6C to an ECC 6.0 with a lot of workflows already existing.
My problem here is that the ID's of the workflows/Tasks I have to transport are overlapping.
Do you have any idea on how I can transport them without modifying all IDs / tasks in steps ?
Thx in advance,
SebastienHi Sebastien,
This is probably not what you want to hear, but I don't think you can transport them without changing the tasks and workflows so they don't overlap. It will probably just as much work as recreating them in the ECC system.

Data Migration from 4.7 to ECC 6.0
Dear Friends,
We are doing upgration from sap4.7 to ECC6.0.
We have activated new gl. We have configured all ecc6.0 functionality.
But we stuck on data migration from classic gl to new gl.
We want to activate the migration cockpit but system is asking license key.
My question is, which license key it is?
From where we will get this?
Kindly don't send me any links and any documents related to ecc6 functionality.
Please guide us on this.

Data Migration from 4.6C to ECC 6.0
Hi all,
Can you suggest me solution for data migration from 4.6C to ECC6.O which technique to be used!!
if you have the documents regarding the above post it which will be useful!!!
Thanks,
Yogeshwaran K SHi Yogesh
OS migrations are more or less painless beside the fact, that most "Unix" operating systems are using a different endianess (aside from Solaris on X86_64). For RFC and other SAP proprietary communication this is done in the kernel but if you use own software to read BINARY data (not talking about textfiles) you need to take care of that in your software.
Hope ths helps
Please reward points

Unable to extract the data from ECC 6.0 to PSA
Hello,
I'm trying to extract the data from ECC 6.0 data source name as 2LIS_11_VAHDR into BI 7.0
When i try to load Full Load into PSA , I'm getting following error message
Error Message: "DataSource 2LIS_11_VAHDR must be activated"
Actually the data source already active , I look at the datasource using T-code LBWE it is active.
In BI on datasource(2LIS_11_VAHDR) when i right click selected "Manage" system is giving throughing below error message
"Invalid DataStore object name /BIC/B0000043: Reason: No valid entry in table RSTS"
If anybody faced this error message please advise what i'm doing wrong?
Advance thanksECC 6.0 side
Delete the setup tables
Fill the data into setup tables
Schedule the job
I can see the data using RSA3 (2LIS_11_VAHDR) 1000 records
BI7.0(Service Pack 15)
Replicate the datasource in Production in Backgroud
Migrate Datasource 3.5 to 7.0 in Development
I did't migrate 3.5 to 7.0 in Production it's not allowing
When i try to schedule the InfoPakage it's giving error message "Data Source is not active"
I'm sure this problem relate to Data Source 3.5 to 7.0 convertion problem in production. In Development there is no problem because manually i convert the datasource 3.5 to 7.0

Migration from G4 iMac to new(ish) Macbook
My daughter is graduating HS (yay!) and going to a great college in the fall (double yay!) and her grandma has given her a nearly-new white MacBook (2.16Ghz) (triple yay!) as a graduation present. Grandma, bless her heart, decided she needed a faster machine. Some people buy sports cars, Grandma likes having the newest and sleekest Mac. We love Grandma!
I am reading up on the steps to help daughter migrate her data from the G4 iMac (which also came from grandma) to the Macbook. It seems fairly simple, and I've done Target Disk before so don't think I can go far wrong but if anyone can check/correct these steps:
1. Backup everything important from the iMac. (mainly her photo and music libraries as all her work is HS related and she's happy to be rid of it) DONE
2. MacBook has grandma's account and preferences set, so we should restore from the install disks to get a fresh start. Right?
3. Once the MacBook is set up with her new account, migrate her stuff over via TDM. I think Migration Assistant won't work due to the disparity between machines.
4. De-authorize the iMac from our family iTunes account (already maxed out) and authorize the MacBook.
5. Install any needed software (MS Office & ?) from disks or .dmg.
6. Either pass iMac on to sibling or completely wipe it and sell it for $10. It has some ailment that is causing me to have to reset the PMU, so I suspect imminent component failure. Excellent time to upgrade!
Thanks for any tips, suggestions, or corrections!
AlanPlease read the following about migrating from a PPC to an Intel Mac:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC
System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies
Browser and other plug-ins
Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs. The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode. It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
2. Backup your data. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
If you want cookies:
/Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
/Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the Discussions where specific applications store their data.
5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.
