TDMS time based reduction method has no end date

Hello TDMS experts,
I am in the process of configuring the 'Time based reduction' method of TDMS. In the package, I am in phase "System Analysis"->"Analyze and specify'from date'".
Here it gives me the option to specify the start/from date only. If I want to transfer data for only  a month in the past lets say april of 2007, then how can I specify the from and to dates.
Please advise.
Thank you,
kind regards,
Zaheer Shaikh

Hi Pankaj,
Thanks for the reply.
In the phase "maintain Table Reduction" I have chosen SAP standard reduction, that means the table reduction is handled by SAP itself. Since my sender system database is 4 Terabytes, my question is if I select the 'from date' as 10th April 2009 (present date is 20 April 2009), will the TDMS still copy the whole tables for which I have not manually defined any reduction?
Please advice.
Thank you,
Kind regards,
Zaheer Shaikh

  • TDMS - time based reduction - receiver system deletion

    Experts,
    I'm doing a time based reduction.  I'm on the step "Start Deletion of Data in Receiver System".  It's been running for over 18hours.
    But I don't see any jobs running in SM66 on the Central/Control or Sender or Reciever systems.
    When I click on the "Task" button, I see it has completed 8,444 of 12,246  sub activites.  There are 3,802 not yet started.
    We're on all the latest levels of DMIS and ECC.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Ashley and Niraj,
    Hey, I'm all for tips/tricks so don't worry about messing up my thread.
    I completely shut down the central/control system via stopsap and restarted.  Still it was in "running" status but no jobs were running on sender/rec or central/control.
    So I tried the trouble-shooting but it was un-clear to me what to do.
    I ended up highlighting the phase I reference earlier, then doing "execute" again.  The status changes from the "truck" to a green flag and I started to see jobs run again on the receiver system.  Again they have stopped, but I see another job scheduled to run in a few minutes....It's just weird, I didn't run into this on my last time-based copy.
    I'll post a few things I've learned to increase performance:

  • Sales orders in TDMS company/time based reduction  are outside the scope

    Guys,
    I have had some issues with TDMS wheras it didn't handle company codes without plants very well. That was fixed by SAP. But I have another problem now. If I do a company code and time based reduction, It doesn't seem to affect my sales orders in VBAK/VBUK as I would have expected. I was hoping it would only copy sales orders across that have a plant which is assigned to a company code that was specified in the company code based reduction scenario. That doesn't seem to be the case.
    VBAK is now about one third of the size of the original table (number of records). But I see no logic behind the reduction. I can clearly see plenty of sales documents that have a time stamp way back from what I specified in my copy procedure and I can see others that have plant entries that should have been excluded from the copy as they do belong to different company codes than the ones I specified.
    I was under the impression that TDMS would sort out the correct sales orders for me but somehow that doesn't seem to be happening. I have to investigate further as to what exactly it did bring across but just by looking at what's in the target system I can see plenty of "wrong" entries in there either with a date outside the scope or with a plant outside the scope.
    I can also see that at least the first 10'000 entries in VBAK in the target system have a valid from and to date of 00.00.0000 which could explain why the time based reduction didn't work?
    Did you have similar experiences with your copies? Do I have to do a more detailed reduction such as specifying tables/fields and values?
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Stefan
    Edited by: Stefan Sinzig on Oct 3, 2011 4:57 AM

    The reduction itself is not based on the date when the order was created but the logic enhances it to invoices and offers, basically the complete update process.
    If you see data that definitely shouldn't be there I'd open an OSS call and let the support check what's wrong.

  • Exclude a table from time-based reduction

    Hi,
    Iu2019d like to exclude a table from time-based reduction. How can I do this ? Is there any manual how to do customizing in TDMS ?
    Regards
    p121848

    Thank you Markus for your annotation.
    AUFK is technically declared as an Master Data Table, but stores orders. Standard
    TDMS provides a reduction of this file and in the client copies we did via TDMS a lot of  records disappeared when we selected time-reduction.
    Now we fond out that some Transactions as OKB9 or KA03 refer to old internal orders. So we would like to maintain the customizing, to exclude AUFK from reduction. But this is not possible in activity TD02P_TABLEINFO, because no changes can be done to the tables, which have got the transfer_status 1 = Reduce.
    You can manipulate the Transfer-Status in file CNVTDMS_02_STEMP before getting to activity  TD02P_TABLEINFO, but I wonder whether this is the way one should do.
    Any idea ?

    I am done with the RFC connections.

    Can somebody please explain the process step-by-step from here on.
    Thanks,
    Mohammed Tauseef Ahmed

    hi,
    thanks for the replies.
    the step "Start Programs for Generation and Receiver Settingsu201D is taking very very long time for execution(the log shows that the process started on May20,and it is still going on).
    Now till the execution of this step is completed,we cannot execute furthet steps.Is there a way that we can execute the other steps or do we have to wait for this step to be completed?
    Secondly, on the suggestion to change the process settings, I was not able to make the changes in process settings. Can the somebody kindly explain step-by-step on how to change the process settings.
    Thanks.

  • TDMS copy based on Company Code and time based reduction.

    I'm struggling to understand the process of this scenario.
    I created a new client in the target system (using local client copy with SAP_UCSV).
    I configured a time based and company code based reduction.
    After the TDMS copy is complete, I check the target system and still find plenty of data that isn't related to the company codes I selected. It appears that it still copies part of the excluded data. For example: I can still find work orders and sales orders for company codes that I specifically didn't select for the copy process.
    Any idea why this is? It appears that the copy doesn't bring across ALL of the excluded data. Just some.
    I double checked and triple checked my TDMS selection for company code based reduction and I can't find any error in there.
    To be more specific: I selected company code A01 A02 A03 and left B01 B02 B03 out. After the copy there are still orders visible in the target system with company code B01 B02 B03.
    This is after I created an empty target client first so it's not copying into an already existing client.
    Thanks for any guidance guys.

    Hm, not sure what's going on. There is no clear link between those existing orders and the company codes I initially selected. Then again it only seems to have a "high level" record of the data. As soon as one starts to drill down, the data is missing as expected. Same goes for other areas as well.
    Looks like we can live with that for now so I won't lose any sleep over it anymore.

  • Rolling Months - Month By Month based on month of variable ending date

    Post Author: jeffr
    CA Forum: Formula
    Hi,
    We want to do a rolling 3 month report, based on the ending month where the ending date is entered as a run time parameter, for example run-time parameter - {?Ending Date} entered is 15 June 2007
    First month - should have all of June 2007
    Previous month shoud have all of May 2007
    Earlier month should have all of April 2007
    We tried Month() = Month({?Ending Date}) for current month and
    Month () = Month (DateAdd("m",-1,({?Ending Date}))), and
    Month () = Month (DateAdd("m",-2,({?Ending Date})))
    but they didnt work successfully
    Could someone please let us know the best way to do it with Crystal X?
    Thanks

    Post Author: Charliy
    CA Forum: Formula
    You need to get six dates set up as formulas
    BOM3 = date(year({?parameter}),month(),1)   First day of Month3 = June 1
    EOM3 - do a dateadd of one month to your parameter, then follow above example to make it the first day of next month and subtract one day
    BOM2 first day of EOM2
    EOM2=- BOM3-1
    BOM1  first day of EOM1
    EOM! = BOM2 -1

  • Time based chunks error - WORKLOAD ANALYSIS (INTROSCOPE DATA)

    Hi All,
    I'm getting time based chunks error for WORKLOAD ANALYSIS (INTROSCOPE DATA) extractor repeatedly. None of the extractor run is successful. I'm using Solution Manager 7.1 SP10.

    Hi Pragadees,
    the string "... time based chuncks ..." indicates that you have a backlog which is processed by the EFWK currently. Normal process is indeed to improve the resource capacity of SolMan (as Roland suggested) or at the managed system.
    Please have a look at the link below for further explanation.

  • What is a time based scenario in TDMS?

    We need only to transfer the data from the last 90 days.
    We know we should use time based scenario. However we cannot find instruction how to implement this scenario.
    Could you help?  Thanks!

    Hi
    Describing how to do time based reduction using TDMS will not be possible over this medium. It is recommended that you refer to the TDMS guides (specifically the Solution operation guide). Refer to the following thread for the same -
    Links, Documents, Support Pack Schedule
    However i will brief you some steps - Once you are on the TDMS overview screen do the following steps -
    1) create project
    2) create sub-project
    3) create package (use the option "initial package for time based reduction from the popup")
    4) once the package screen appears execute various activities of the package in correct order. Detailed documentation for each activity is available on the package screen.
    I hope this helps

  • Contract Start and End Dates in Sales Order

    Hi
    I have a situation where a service item is bundled with a deliverable item. The order is as follows
    Line Item    Mat                                                                 Qty            Higher Level Item
    10              Item No.1 (Physical Item)                                  1
    20              Item No.2 (Service Item)                                    1               10
    For the deliverable item 10 , Revenue is recognized immediately. For the Service item no.20 , revenue needs to be recognized over a period of 1 Year (It is a 1 year service contract).
    The whole order is created via BAPI from an external 3rd party order capture system.
    In order to do revenue recognition properly for service items , SAP I believe has 2 options
    1. Based on Billing plan dates
    2. Based on contract start dates
    Since order with both the line items need to produce 1 invoice, I cannot use billing plan . The only other option is to use contract start and end dates. I have enabled contract data at the sales order level. So when I enter the contract start and end dates manually at the line item level and set the item category to recognize revenue based on contract start and end dates based on time-based revenue recognition it is working fine.
    But I need a way to automate the population of contract start and end dates at the line item level. My ABAP guy is not able to find a user exit that can change the XVEDA or any VEDA structure in any of the user exits.
    I guess the SAP SD gurus out there would have definitely dealt with a situation of product bundling (Service and non-service items in the same sales order with one billing document , but seperate revenue recognition for service and non-service items)
    Please help.
    Thnx
    Siva

    Hi Siva,
    Kindly let me know what criteria you want to give for automatic population of start date of contract...
    Standard SAP comes with a few baseline dates for contract start date and we can control this from customization itself.
    01     Today's date
    02     Contract start date
    04     Acceptance date
    05     Installation date
    06     Date contract signed
    07     Billing date/Invoice date
    08     CntrctStDate+contract duration
    09     Contract end date
    If you have some criteria which is not covered here, then let me know and i will try to provide some help then.
    Thanks

  • Start and End Date Validation

    OK I am lost and searched and made changes to what I am doing, but not sure I have datasets correct or something written wrong.
    I have two date fields on my form. A Start Date and an End Date
    I put some validation that says the Start Date/Time cannot be greater than the End Date/Time or so I think that is what it is saying. But if I put and end date in the form with a time that is an hour after the start date, it throws the error
    Here are my details and maybe I am just storing data wrong or something
    ENDDATE Validation: PL/SQL Error:
    if to_date(:P6_DTGSTART) > to_date(:P6_DTGEND)
    raise_application_error (-20001,'End Date must be Greater than Start Date.');
    end if;
    When I look at the data stored in the Database in SQL Workshop this is what I see
    DTGSTART 11/29/2010
    DTGEND
    The input on the form is a Date Picker with format: DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI
    So the entry in the form would like like:
    Start Date/Time 29-NOV-2010 09:25
    End Date/Time 29-NOV-2010 10:25
    The End date can be the same date but the time has to be greater than the start date/time
    Thanks
    Wally

    It is working better for sure, but after it is saved, I can go back and make the end date less than the start date and it accepts the save. I don't really anticipate this happening, but trying to plan for all eventualities.

  • End-date for EBS account for Re-hires

    Hi Guys,
    I am facing a weird issue.
    We have configured EBS connector which is working fine for all new users. But in case of new hires, the END-DATE on EBS account is not getting changed. But it is getting changed on EBS process form. I did not see any errors in the log to trace the issue.
    Please help me out.

    locate the EBSUM jar,java class and method being called for this task and extract jar to verify the OOTB code, I don't remember exactly but this code issue. verify this using decompiler.
    If you check the ootb updateuser method(ORCL_EBS_UM_9.1.0.7.0\lib\EBSUM\oracle\iam\connectors\ebs\usermgmt\integration\EBSUserManagement.jar), enddate pass as s7 and this is not being considered for update. this is bug with connector you can raise SR to oracle or try below( which I applied earlier)
    write a java code to update end date directly into ebs database.
    1. remove the existing adapter and attach your custom adapter where pass username,effective date to, ebs database login detail( already you have in the itresource pass the same here.
    2. now write a java code and do below step
    a) connect to database using normal sql connection
    b) executeUpdate method to update end date ( update fnd_user where set eff_date_to=to_date(enddate,'format') where username=user) something like this.
    before doing above login to ebs db using apps user and describe the fnd_user table and see the exact attribute name.

    reviewing the new features document on oim 11g r2 ps2: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/id-mgmt/overview/oim-11gr2-whats-new-1709505.pdf
    it says "For example, in a request that involves multiple entitlements, the requester might be required to specify the start date and end date for each of the entitlements requested. OIM enables requesters to provide such information during request that can be carried all the way to approval and provisioning processes. OIM also provides an out-of-the-box scheduled task for entitlement grant and revoke based on the start and end dates specified"
    I've been searching on the documentation and doing tests on a virtual environment before a poc to a customer and can not find how to use that feature.
    Is it an OotB feature or it needs codification and extra configuration?
    Any tips on how to achieve this?

  • How to tell how many times a method has executed?

    Hi, all
    I've got a main class (Model.java) that repeatedly calls a step() method in a sub class (Ocean.java). I want Ocean.java to execute its step() method following one set of rules for the first time it is called by Model.java, and a different set of rules for all executions 2++. I was just going to use an if/else in Ocean.java's step() method to make it switch based on a boolean haveIExecutedThisStepOnce, or something like that. Is there some way to tell Ocean.java how many times it has executed the step() method? I'm using the RePast code libraries; Model.java uses a method called getTickCount(). It returns a double value of number of times Model.java's step() method has been executed, in which Model.java tells Ocean.java to execute its step() method. Should I pry that getTickCount() value out of Model.java and get it over to Ocean.java's step() method--and if so, how? Or, is there a better way to do this that I'm not aware of?

    Why do you think that this field has to be public?
    Arguably if there's some functionality that is tightly associated with this counted method, then it should be part of the same class.
    Alternatively, think about the counting variable. It should be with the thing that uses it.
    So if class A wants to invoke class B method c once, do something else, and then invoke c some more, then that counting is really more an aspect of A than of B, and in that case the state should be in A. In that case the field really counts the number of times that A has invoked B.c, not the number of times that B.c has been invoked overall. Maybe that's what you want.
    On the other hand if you really want to count the number of times that B.c has been invoked overall, then it's an aspect of B (or more likely an instance of B). In that case, rather than expose the counting state and the counted method, it would probably be better to create a new method d(). d() would invoke c(), doing something extra depending on the counting state. Make c() private. Like this:
    class B {
      private boolean c_has_been_called = false;
      public void d() {
        c();
        if (!c_has_been_called) {
          doWhateverYouNeedInThisCase();
          c_has_been_called = true;
      private void c() {
        // and c() does whatever it normally does
    }
