Teacher Library

I am a photography teacher and I currently have 11 iMacs networked. I would like to share files in iPhoto. However I do not want to share a library. I want the students on their account to be able to 'hand in' their photograph into my iPhoto library. Currently they are saving the file in the Public folder. I would like to have the students drag and drop into my iPhoto album. Is this possible? and if so how?
Thanks!

Hi,
You can create a new library that specifically displays only music that you have in Match. To do this, hold option key (Mac) or shift key (PC) whilst launching iTunes.  See this iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one. Once created, you can turn on match, select add this computer.
Hold option key (Mac) or shift key (PC) whilst launching iTunes and select Choose library when you switch to the other library.

The operating system is OSX 10.4.11
Notebook 10 was running fine except for the flash activities would no longer work.  I upgraded to Notebook 10.7 from the website to try and fix this.  The new Notebook version nor the uninstaller would launch.  They bounce in the dock for a second or two and then disappear again.  I drug and dropped all Smart files into the trash since the uninstaller didn't work and reinstalled Notebook 10 from a disk I have.  Now it also bounces in the dock for a second or two when I try to launch it then it disappears.  I also tried to repair permissions but this didn't help.
I checked the console log and got this information:

  • How do I add new songs to playcenter music library??? Save a headache teach me the

How can I add new songs to the playcenter music library without adding all the same ones over again? Also is there a way to seperate the new songs I just added so that I don't have to scroll through all the songs just to find where all the new ones I added on are? Gotta be an easier way! Can I also import songs directly into a playlist I made? Save a headache please help

For starters, you might be better to switch to MediaSource, this is the replacement for PlayCentre.
MediaSource has a "Media Sniffer" program that will monitor for new files and add them to the library.
As far as I know there's no way to check for new songs, except perhaps the smart playlist function does this (micromouse will be able to confirm I'm sure).

  • New library or new project?

I Have just started using FCP X after using FCP 7 for many years. I went on a course of 3 days and came out more confused than ever. One mystery is this, the tutor said, "YOU MUST NEVER START A NEW PROJECT WITH 'FILE NEW PROJECT' YOU MUST START 'NEW LIBRARY' AND THEN IMPORT YOUR MEDIA AND ONLY  THEN CAN YOU START NEW PROJECT!" All well and good except last night I watched a good tutorial on FCP X hosted by a very good teacher and the first thing he said was, "To get started, go to file and start New Project, create an event and then import your media to this," I nearly fell over backwards in shock, because this seemed incredibly simple.Within 15 minutes of this tutorial I had learned more than 2 days sitting at a desk.
Can anyone advise who is correct, my tutor from Mars or the YouTube tutorial? BTW all my projects start life from SD Cards with HD material on them, in this case some with 50 FPS and some with 30 FPS (action cam) it must all be finally exported in Pro Res LT 25P 1920 x 1080.

FCP X when newly installed will by default give you one Library and one Event in that Library.
You can add a Project to this default setup immediately.
However, you can create new Libraries and an Event will be added, any Library will always have one Event. Try deleting the last one, it won't allow it.
As Russ points out: Libraries are the main container in which Events reside. Events are where Projects go.
Any Library can have new Events added in addition to the default.
Any Event can have multiple Projects.
Regarding the Timeline and Project settings:
The first clip that is added to a blank Timeline dictates the Project settings based on the clip specs. eg a 50P 1920 x 1080 inserted clip creates a PAL HD 50P Project.
You can override this auto select setup by manually creating a Project.
When Exporting you can change to codec to ProRes LT regardless of the origin.

  • What is the best way to find and apply the samples in the sap library

I am a fresh man in the process of learning sap .
Mainly aim at the MM and SD model .
They all say that the best way to accomplish the task is to follow the sap on-line help.
because i don`t know the struts of the library , so to find what i need in the library becomes impossible for me as the library includes a lot of files .
so please some one help me to direct the struts of the library and teach me the way how to find what i want ?
    thanks

    Hi,
This forum is for BPX. Post Solution related quries in SAP Solution Forums.
You can access MM and SD help at:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/80/ea89395eb58c4f9d0c3e837cf0909d/frameset.htm under Logistics
or http://help.sap.com/ -> SAP ERP -> Choose Release (for example SAP enhancement package 2 for SAP ERP 6.0) -> SAP ERP Central Compoennt (MM and SD under Logistics)
From Materials Management Link you can navigate further to Purchasing, Inventory Management etc. From Sales and Distribution you can naviate further: Sales, Billing etc.
For example to see help regarding Purchase Orders:
You would first expand Logistics and choose Materials Management in Help Link for ERP Central Component. Here, choose Purchasing Node which will take you Purchasing Help screen -> Click and Purchase Orders Node and Expand the same for more information regarding Purchase Orders.
You should be comfortable with SAP help link.

  • HT4914 Can I use iTunes match to share my iTunes library across different users on the same computer?

I'm a teacher and I use my MBP in school and, while I've not had any issues with students looking through my computer, I'd like to use a seperate 'school' user just in case.  I need to have access to my iTunes library and I tried moving it to a shared folder but, possibly because of the size of my library, itdoesn't seem to work.  Is there a way I can use iTunes match to enable my 'school' user to access my library in the same way I can with my iPhone?

    Hey darkmavis86,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I believe you would benefit from the following article:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
However, if you do decide to use iTunes Match the answer to your question is "Yes". iTunes Match can be used to "sync" your iTunes library across multiple devices / computers / users.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How do I share one iCloud Photo Library

We are in our late 60's (years of age). We have 3,500 pics on the Mac,
I now have PHOTOS on my Mac, my iPhoto Library is 8.99GB.
I am almost ready to jump to use iCloud Photo Library. I know I will need to up it to 20GB @ .99 cents a month (a deal if all this works out)
How can she and I access my *(our)* photos in iCloud Photo Library.
    Our Stuff::
Mac Book Pro 2011 13"           OSX 10.10.3 I have two external HD's as back ups, on on Time Machine, on with SupperDupper.
My phone iPhone 5:16GB      iOS 8.03,
my wifes iPhone iPhone 5:16GB iOS 6, (yeah, I know!!)
Yes, I will got through the hurdle of upgrading and teaching her iOS 8.03 on her phone.
She has always had an Apple ID but never even used the App Store for a purchase.
So, I do all of that how does she access the pics to show her friends.
Is Family Sharing as bad as many have said: Maybe that's for another question/group.
We have 3,500 pics on the Mac, I have two external HD's as back ups, on on Time Machine, on with SupperDupper.
Thank you Apple Community in advance for any advice of a positive nature.
    jojoguitar_mn_USA

You mention she hasn't made a purchase on her AppleID. But does she use unique iCloud features? Does she use her own email, Calendar and contacts provided by iCloud?
If she effectively shares all the iCloud feature set with you, you could safely just use her device(s) as your own. If you look in the iCloud settings you'll notice some can be turned on and off, like mail and calendars, etc. Those services are accessible as a secondary account. The services like Find my iPhone and Photos are only accessible from the primary iCloud account.
If that particular service set works for your needs-
Set the primary iCloud account on her phone with your credentials.
Then the Photo library available via iCloud photos will be the same one you sync with on your mac.
If not - you can't do what you want. You have to set up family sharing and use the Family Album. Share your photos to the Family album and they'll be visible to her, but not her library.

  • Can I use *one* iTunes library for both MacOS and Bootcamp/Vista?

Does anybody know if there is a way to use and administer the same library both from MacOS and Bootcamp/WinOS?
I have Paragon's "NTFS for MacOSX", so I could actually move the library to the NTFS partition and use it from both OSes.
The thing is, the changes made on one version won't appear on the other system.
Is there a way to make both iTunes clients read/write to the same files? Is the file format of the Mac-iTunes identical with the one used by the Win version?
And isn't that an interesting question...?
    Thanks for replying and cheers,
    uu

The music files are currently on the Mac partition of my MacBook. I plan to move them to the Bootcamp partition, so when using "NTFS for MacOS" I can both read and write there from either partition.
To facilitate administration (e.g. when I add music files using the Mac iTunes, the Windows iTunes doesn't realize the change) I wonder if I can somehow teach both iTuneses (the one on the Mac side and the other one on the Windoews side) to write to/read the same (XML??) admin files.
...which then will have to reside on the NTFS partition as well to be readable/writable from either partition.
Is there a way to change the default path for the library files?

  • Sharing iphoto library on the same computer between different users

Can anyone tell me how (without having to write my own code) I can share photos easily (so I can teach my parents, who know nothing about mac, how to do it) between different users on the SAME COMPUTER?
I am so frustrated! You can share with anyone else in the world, but when it is on the same computer I can't figure out how to share!

    Hi Mereditty,
Here are all the links I have for sharing a couple of different ways.
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.
    Sharing links from Apple....
    Sharing your photos between computers
    About shared photos
    Turning off photo sharing
    Looking for shared photos
SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.

  • Possibility of Apple TV playing one Itunes Library while the computer plays a different library at the same time (Mac)

The Apple TV is for my son's room to watch his videos, listen to music, etc. off his iTunes library I made for him on my Mac.  I want to be able to listen to my own library at the same time he has his. Apple TV only recognizes the current library open; unless I'm doing something wrong or the stars haven't aligned for me yet, is there a way to do this? I can't run two iTunes at the same time (wish I could).
*Note- to teach my son about computers, I bought an old green iMac which will be for his learning venture.  The iMac however does not have wifi (at least not yet).  Perhaps something for you Mac professionals can use to help me whip up a good setup, unfortunately the iMac is slow, not enough HD space, so I don't have the funds right now to open it up and do what can be done.  (If this helps)

    Hi All,
Same issue here. Just upgraded (?) from the previous version of Apple TV, to the new Apple TV2. Like others here, my main problems seem to be with unreliable streaming from iTunes 10 on my PowerMac (Quad G5, Leopard OSX).
My original AppleTV had no issues w/the wireless network, or synching w/my PowerMac.
The network connection from the ATV2 are fine, and have no issues accessing the Apple Store (for movies, TV shows), or accessing Netflix. The access to the internet from my ATV2 is quite robust.
My problems are with keeping a constant, reliable wireless connection to my PowerMac, via an Airport Extreme wireless router.
I have tried multiple restarts, reboots, reset ATV2 to original settings, tried different wireless channels on the Airport Extreme, verified I have Home Sharing properly enabled in iTunes, etc, but no luck so far.
What I'm seeing is when I access my iTunes on my computer, I can see my library, and then if I start to "shuffle songs" I may get 1 to 3 songs to play fine, but then the music stops, and I can no longer access the music/movies/etc in iTunes any longer. When I then go to my PowerMac, it has lost most bars of signal strength on the wireless network (although all other devices show strong signal strength), and I have to Turn AirPort Off, then Turn AirPort On and I then am reconnected to the wireless network with good signal.
I then go back to the ATV2, connect to my iTunes, start my music, and then 1-2 songs later it again stops playing, and I go through this all over again.
It seems as though there is something on the wireless network between the ATV2 and my PowerMac that causes it to lose connection, and I have to manually start again. The problem is that the connection is not robust, and only lasts a few minutes.
    Hope this gets solved soon.
    Regards
    Tom

these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

  • How to transfer music from 1 itunes library to another

hello, i need help both my dada and i have 30gb ipod videos. He has some music on his ipod that i want to put on mine. how do i do that. My teacher says to create a new playlist, and then drag the files into my library.
    tahnks

Your teacher doesn't know all the complications (why would you ask your teacher?). If you have no music on your iPod at all, then just connect your iPod to his computer, check off the songs you want, connect your iPod, and change its settings so that it will only add checked songs (you may have to update it twice). If you do have music on your iPod, you'll have to add the songs of his you want on your iPod to your own iTunes library/playlist (considering all the songs already on your iPod are on that playlist). If you'd like to put his songs onto your PC via his iPod, you can use PodUtil (google it) to rip his songs, and put them on your PC. Good luck.

  • Storing Library on an external drive

I am using iPhoto 6.0.2 on a MacBook Pro (Mac OS 10.4.9, 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GB Memory, with a 100 GB hard drive). My iPhoto LIbrary is 28.3 GB, which is taking up a LOT of hard drive space. In fact, I only have 6 GB free right now. I can't free up a lot of space, as I don't really use the laptop for document storage. Instead, my son set up a network file server with two mirrored 250 GB drives.
On this file server I have two genealogy folders (ancestors' pictures and scanned documents) -- one is 8.95 GB and one is 22.6 GB. I would like to get these images into iPhoto so that I could assign keywords and make them a lot easier to locate and label. Also, since the new version of Reunion (my genealogy program) works with iPhoto, it would simplify that as well.
I don't want to put the iPhoto library on the file server as this is not easily accessible when I travel.
What problems can I expect? Will this make my Photo Library too large to manage? Will it slow things down? Will I run into trouble using an external hard drive for my photos? I know it will be a bit of a nuisance -- I'm a teacher and I already have 100GB drive I use strictly for work. Sometimes it's a pain plugging in when I want to work, but the plus side is I can use it on either of my laptops or my computer at school. Will iPhoto cause any unique problems? Would I be better off to create multiple libraries? And is that even possible?
Backing up is not an issue as I also have an external Maxtor drive -- I have it set up to back up the school drive every time it's plugged in and could do the same with whatever drive I decide to use for photos. I am pretty fanatical about keeping decent backups -- at least on a monthly basis. I just plain have too much data to lose it all!

    Joyce
I'll try and take these in order.
In fact, I only have 6 GB free right now.
OS X needs about 10 gigs of HD space to function correctly. It uses this space for Virtual Memory, Temporary Files etc. Without this space the machine will slow down, apps will begin to crash and there is a much increased chance of File Corruption. You need to make space on your HD and you need to do that first.
Do I understand you correctly? You have a too little disk space as it is, and then you want to add more pics to your library, but don't want to put the library on the server?
You cannot put the files on the Server into your current iPhoto as you don't have enough room. As you say you want to be able to locate and label these files, but don't mention a need for them to be available when you travel, then create a new library on the Server (hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. Choose Create and place the library on the Server. Don't forget that you'll need to press the option (or alt) key on launch to switch between libraries) iPhoto Library Manager is an invaluable asset when managing multiple libraries.
Multiple libraries are an inconvenience. You can only have one open at a time. But it seems to me that it's your only option, or a lot more disk space.
Finally, Old Toad, the most generous contributor to this forum, has developed a number of tutorials for using iPhoto in different scenarios. One of them details how to use iPhoto in an 'Alias' Mode, which would allow you to store the pics off your main HD but they would be viewable while away from the storage. There are some caveats with the system, but it might be appropriate. Have a read of it here:
