You've got some reports on the top menu in your folder.
To know the access controls possible, take a look to the roles as an admin.

Repository for Document Management System
Hi All,
I need to devleop a repository [ just like Document Management System ] for my existed application which is handling the documents.
If any user having access to the repository, opens the directory, he should not see any documents.
Please let me know, what are the technologies to be used etc., etc.,
Any suggestions or info will be appreciated.

The file system is controlled by the operating system. Thus if you want to manage permissions at that level then you must use the OS.
There are no "other" technologies for that. You can buy or find management applications which allow you to do the same thing that the OS does but via different user approach. Most will be specific to the OS because that allows the most features. -
Authorizations for document management
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out what every authorization means and which effects it has...
I created a new user, gave him all the necessary authorizations to use certain transactions in Document management by making a new role/profile for him
After trying everything out, I still have a few questions:
- with Authorization for change object link (C_DRAD_OBJ)I have the following properties:
Activity: change, display
document type: DRM-DRM
linked SAP object: *
document status: *
I know how to display my object link, but how can I change it? <b>Do they mean with changing the object link, the creating of long text for the link or is there more to it?</b>
- with authorization for document access (C_DRAW_DOK), I can't figure out what the options "Display Application archive" and "Change application archive" mean. Which effect does it have when I choose them? Where do I consult the application archive? What is the application archive? => SOLVED
- Do I also have to give the authorization "Display" when I want to give the authorization to delete something? How can I delete a document info record without displaying it? =>SOLVED
- <b>With "Status dependent authorizations for documents" (C_DRAW_TCS) what do the following options do?</b>
*change application start (which difference with change?)=>SOLVED
display application start (which difference with display)=>SOLVED
*<b>request</b>
*display archive =>SOLVED
*change archive=>SOLVED
I know it are a lot of questions but I'm making documentation on the authorization profiles of document management and when I figured those few last things out, I can share my documentation with the rest of you...

Havent been watching this thread for some time now, so please shout if you do have any questions.
Just a quick note on deleting documents:
Setting the deletion indicator will simply mark the DIR for deletion, but, it will still be on the dB.
After you have set the DIR for deletion, you need to run the program "MCDOKDEL", which has a test mode and a real mode.
This program will physically delete the documents that you have marked for deletion.

Recommendations needed for document management app
I want to be able to mail text files in various formats (*.pdf, *.html, *.docx etc) to my iPad, where the
files will then be displayed by title. I also want to add a couple of sentences of annotation to each item.
I should then be able to display any given item with a click or tap.
I can mail files to my ibook app right now OK but I can't see any way to annotate an ibook entry and I
really need that.
To review: Imagine that I am working from my desktop. I see a file I want to save to my iPad. I
download it to my PC and mail it as an attachment to my icloud account. I go to Mail in my iPad
and tap the 'Move' icon. The 'Move' icon gives me the opportunity to save it to the document management app,
whatever it is called. I then go to that app and annotate the saved file. The annotation appears next to
the file title. When I tap the entry the file displays.
I assume the right name for an app like this is text management or file management or document management.
What does this???
Thanks,
Fred HapgoodI do a lot of counselling about a very complicated and dynamic subject. Right now I have to lug 20-30 pounds of reference texts from point A to point B to point C. I bought the iPad Air in hopes I could store this material in the tablet. But the reference material is complicated -- I guess I said that -- and I need lots of words to clarify what the subject is of each pamphlet and brochure, etc, before I can clearly differentiate one from the other. Imagine I have documents A, B and C. In the best of all worlds I would see a metadata display that looked like this:
File A -- Comments
File B -- Comments
File C -- Comments
Taking the filenames and the comments together I decide I need to look at C. I tap that and it displays.
That is the best of worlds. But I see GR allows me to rewrite filenames and maybe doing that will get me to where I want to go.
It does seem strange that with all document-handling packages out there there isn't one that allows comments in metadata. Oh well.
Thanks again,

Looking for document management software.
I am looking at document management software but can't seem to find what I need. I want something that creates a numerical file name for every document that I save that is automatically generated. In the PC world I know that Worldox does this but I cant seem to find something for the mac. I tried to get some help with this a while back when I was starting my business but had to make do with what I had and have been busy since then. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
the goal would be to open a new pages document and it was save as "00001" then if I scanned something in after that it would be "00002" then the next pages document would be "00003" and so on.http://www.versiontracker.com/php/qs.php?mode=basic&action=search&str=document+m anagement&srchArea=macosx&submit=Go

BOR or CLASS for Document Management Service (not SAP DMS for PLM)
Hi All,
Does anyone know if there is already a BOR or CLASS that can be used in Workflow that works with the Document Management Service? This is in reference to the diagram displayed in the following link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm40/helpdata/en/15/aea9375d79fb7de10000009b38f8cf/content.htm.
I assume that there must be a BOR or CLASS that uses DMS that I can use with workflow.
Thanks.

Solution Manager - WF for Document Management
Hi all,
I wonder if any of you have experience with developing workflows in Solution Manager?
I basically need to trigger a simple workflow when there is a change of status in a document stored in the Solution Manager (tcode SOLAR01, Proj. Document tab).
I know that object type SOLMANDOC is available and I know that event signature_process_start is published when the user signs the document. I am not sure how the event gets published - perhaps it is hard coded somewhere, I am just not sure. Any ideas how I can find out? Perhaps I can enhance the code to publish other events?
I have posted the question in Solution Manager forum, but haven't had much luck with it yet.
Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.
Cheers,
CristianaHi,
So far this is what we have done.
on SWE2 we have generated the following triggering event:
object category: Bor obj type
obj type: solmandoc
Event: Signature_process_start
Receiver type: {defined Workflow}
Linkage settings
Receiver call: Function module
Receiver FM: SWW_WI_CREATE_VIA_EVENT_IBF
These settings would trigger your Workflow.
You should be able to create the task for your workflow based on each of the methods on the BOR object.
Currently we are using the SIGN method since it allows you to both Review and sign the document.
Current Challenges: we are only allowed to sign the document twice. Once when created and once when reviewed.
We are currently working with SAP in order to allow multiple signature process. -
Hello,
I have a requirement to attach a couple of documents for each employees at my client. Those document should then be made available on SAP Portal. I know there exists some SAP solutions for document management (DMS, ArchiveLink) but I have no experience with that. Can you please advice what is the best/latest solution? How should I get started?
Thanks!Hi Julien,
One solution I am aware of is SAP Employee File Management by OpenText (don't say it with your mouth full!), or SAP EFM for short.
It's an integrated document management solution that runs from the backend and from the Portal. I've seen a click demo of it but not the real thing. It looks like a good solution, hence why SAP picked up on it.
Some links below for info:

User Exits for Document Info Record : CV01N in DMS
Hi Experts
My scenario is: We have Configured DMS in which new document type created Z01 is for MS word documents. I have assigned default Work Station Application : DOC to Z01 document type.
But my problem is : while creating Info record : CV01n with Z01 document type during file creation system is showing default Application : DOC, But in help user can select either XL, or PPT instead of DOC.
My requirement is : I need to restrict : other work station applications to the particular document type, i.e. for Z01 document type - allowed work Station Application is : DOC. System doesnot allow user to select other application instead of DOC.
Where Can I Restrict ?? Is there any User Exits available to controle this function

Hi,
I understand that KM can be used for document management related tasks like check out, check in, versioning etc. I would like to know if it is a good practice to manage the documents corresponding to a site in the Site Content folder of WPC. I personally feel this way the user will be able to easily locate and manage documents corresponding to a site easily. But I am not sure as to what could be the disadvantage or probable features of KM that I would end up losing if I follow this approach? Will it have any performance impact? Pls advice.
Also I would like to know if there are images corresponding to a site/sub-site is Site Content folder of WPC the best place to store or should it be stored in KM?
If the documents are uploaded in Site Content folder how can we get the Edit locally context menu when the user browses to a particular folder in Site Content where the document is located? This is because currently I will have to select the 'Details' context menu available and then chose 'Edit locally' option from the 'Actions' menu to check out a file.Hi Vijaya,
WPC uses the SAP usage type EP with KM.
And KM is the content management ability provided by SAP.
When you create some thing in WPC like webpages and all, by default all those stored inside the SAP KM repository. Check for the \etc repository. There you can see the WPC contents.
Thats correct you can see the folder site content under WPC. But all those information stored in KM.

Manisha

Document Management App that runs on OS X Server?
I need a CMS or EDMS application (for document management) that runs on the mini-mac server. Others will access via browser.
Thin-client application. Similar to DocuWare or OnBase or IBM Content Manager, but APPLE FRIENDLY!!!!!
Many thanks - [email protected]Devonthink Pro Office is a Mac compatible document management solution. Most people would use the full-blown Mac application to access it but it also provides a web-interface which can also be used by PCs as well as Macs.

Looking for Document Management system to replace GW
Is this a Fair analysis...
No improvements in GW8... (Sadly GroupWise is going nowhere fast specially
when it comes to DM).
Users want more functionality - access the email archiving (not the joke
archives), PDF support, Library from the Web etc.
Since we are going to have to move from Netware soon - I guess Windows is
the way to go (looking at the dead SmallBusiness Nows-SBE2 forum - Novel
doen't have a credible Small Business solution or the will power)
What other Document Management systems exist?
I've come across things like KnowledgeTree but don't have any experience of
it.
I guess others who have moved from GW DM have already left the Novell forums
but I'm looking for someone who has had to move to a better (or another)

Cram Easy: Collaboration Knowledge Management System
Document Management System
What is document management system?
The capture and management of documents within an organization. A DMS includes Web access to support occasional users and work from remote sites as well as a secure document storage area (vault). Additionally a DMS includes search and retrieval, versioning, and content caching.
Benifit of using Document Management System
* Reduced paper storage - removal of paper by converting paper documents that are stored within the business or in an archive into an electronic form
* Improved retrieval time - obtaining paper from storage or an archive is typically slower than electronic retrieval of documentation. Along with the improved retrieval time comes the ability to perform searches for similar information. This is especially useful when trying to perform major changes or perhaps searching for information subject to litigation
* Saves paper, printer and toner costs - reduced need to print paper documents as electronic versions are available for use or reuse. Whilst the paperless office is still not a reality, it is anticipated that the availability of an DMS would reduce the need for multiple paper copies of documents. If the DMS does not have an electronic signature capability then at least one "master" paper signed document will need to be printed
* Improved staff productivity - less time spent searching for documents or trying to find the current version. Faster document review and approval cycles, particularly where multiple reviewers and approvers are involved in the business process
* Improved disaster recovery - DMS contains business critical documents and has its own disaster recovery plan that allows the documents to be restored in the event of significant disruption or disaster for the business
* Improved security through a single secure location for documents and ensuring that the right people are able to access the right documents
* Improved compliance with regulation or legislation
* Central control and management of documentation
* Reduced chance of "losing" documents
* Enhanced competitive situation due to improved internal document processes
* Improved customer service through faster access to and retrieval of important customer information
