Tech and func specs

Hi,
Can anyone send me sample docs on  technical and functional specs to [email protected]
what is functional specs and technical specs ?
any diff between them ... pls thro some lights on this
Thanks in Advance
ss

Hi SS,
Functional Specifications: this docuement would be the actual requirement in terms of the enduser. For example: if you have been assigned to create the reports for the sales and distribution of BW. you would collect all the information required from the endusers regarding their report out put and then format them into a functional specification
Technical Specifications: This would be purely a technical document which you preapre after analysing the functional requirement mentioned in the functional specification. this document would in detail and should be such that any layman should be able to develop the model you have described in the specs.
Give me some time, i will send u template for the tech nical specifications. there wont be any template as such for the functional specificationsas it would be just noting down all the requirements in an orderly manner

I am having a Func spec with Field names and tables but how do i know first from which table i have to get the data and filter the data  and get it in report format. Do i have to approach functional consultant

    hi Lakshmi,
The Functional Specs will have high level description of the Requirement , Functional assumptions on the development , Possible solutions and best solution to achieve the development,
In Technical Specs, we should explain Detailed Technical info of how the object is going to be developed,
For Example if it for a new Custom Cube Development,
It will have the following things,
    Technical details on :
In R3 : Datasource Used, Source Table and Field Information from where the data will be extracted,
Type of Data source and related Details,
    In BW:
    Mapping Document ,
Details on any start routine transfer routine , upfdate routine handled,
    Data model of the cube,
    Expected Data volume ,
    Frequency of Load,
    Corrective measures if any
Unit Test and Integration test cases,
Hope this helps, If require send me your FS i can guide you further

    Hi,
It will contain the details as below:
    1.Person Who Changed it
    2. Date on Which it was changed
    3. Version
    4. Description of why there is a change etc.
For example you designed a specificatio on 1st of Jan 2007. Due to the change in requirement or enhancement to the original functionality you have changed it on 15th of Jan 2007.
Then Change Document Repository will have the following:
    Person ABC 01.01.2007 Version 1.0
Person ABA(or other person) 15.01.2007 Version 1.1 Due to change in requirement/enhance the previous logic etc.
Let me know if you need further info. I shall send you the sample copy.
    Information regarding Functional Specification:
Functional specification: The Functional Specification is a comprehensive document created after the Software Requirements Document. It provides more details on selected items originally described in the Software Requirements Template. Elsewhre organizations combine these two documents into a single document.
Functional specs is like a templeate document, hence it will be same whether it is AR or AP or CCA. Basically functional specs is a document which explains the requirements with technical details, so that technical consultant or any other person can read and understand what is the background of the report or an extension done in SAP.
The Functional Specification describes the features of the desired functinality. It describes the product's features as seen by the stake holders, and contains the technical information and the data needed for the design and developement.
The functional specs should have the following details:
Background: Information why this report is required and Business process involved in that.
Selection Parameters: This should what fields should be selection fields, which are optional and which are mandatory etc.
Layout of the report: What information is required in the output of the report. This should also indicate the technical names - Table and field names from where the data needs to be fetched.
Detailed Description: This should explain the logic of the report - what calculations needs to be done etc.
The Functional Specification defines what the functionality will be of a particulat area that is to be precise a transaction in SAP terminology.
It also contains the data regarding change history, if any.
Functional Spec is mainly prepared for the purpose of developing the new reports (this happens only when SAP standard report not achieve the client purpose) using the ABAP Program. for ABAPers you need to give the details of the Tables , Fields and the logic how to pick the value and get the report.

  • Approach for generating a report while having Func Specs of the Report

    Hi Experts,
Please tell me what should be the approach for generating a report when having Func Specs of the Report.
    Thnx
    Sid

    Hi,
1st you need to know the business need and related data.
1st know that according to the business need is there any standard SAP report is there or not.
try to know the Data base table and related fields required according to the need.
know the relations of the data base tables to map the data.
Accordingly prepare Technical spec's or go a head for coding.
    Thanks.
If this helps you reward with points.

  • Difference between business blueprint and functional spec

    hello
can somebody please tell me the difference between business blueprint and functional spec and how they are interrelated
    Thanks

    Hi Comandante,
Business Blue print is a detailed documentation of the requirements gathered from client (The objects we need to develop are modified depending upon clients requirements). It represents the business process requirements of the company.  It is an agreed statement of how the company intends to run its business within SAP system.
Functional specifications (functional specs), in the end, are the blueprint for how you want a particular report and transaction to look and work. It details what the report will do, how a user will interact with it, and what it will look like. By creating a blueprint of the report or transaction first, time and productivity are saved during the development stage because the programmers can program instead of also working out the logic of the user-experience. It will also enable you to manage the expectations of your clients or management, as they will know exactly what to expect. Functional Spec streamlines the development process.
A functional specification  is a formal document used to describe in detail for software developers a product's intended capabilities, appearance, and interactions with users. It guidelines and continuing reference point as the developers write the programming code.
Other processes include Requirements, Objectives,Logic Specification,User documentation,The Final Product.
Hope this Helps, Revert for any further info.
    Cheers,
    Tanish

    Hi,
You need the template for techical specs? Your question is not clear. If you are asking for templates, I don't think they can be shared in a common forum like this.
We can give you an idea as to how it can be prepared, but I guess you will already have templates for your documentation in your company portal.

I am not certain, but I believe there is a version of Dazzle for the Mac. However, it is not the route I would chose.
You really need a proper analogue to digital converter, like the ADVC110, to connect to your camera via the usual RCA cables, and to your Mac via firewire.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the
Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary
              to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

    Hi again,
Take a look at a possible 'Table of Contents' for a Functional Specification document.  This a generic - All the items need not be filled in all the time.  The key items are 2, 3, 4, and 9.  If you do not have template, you may create a template in Word.

    2     Description of Business Process
    3     Justification
    4     Functional Design
    5     Assumptions / Notes
