TECH specs about sound card

can any one fican any one find the tech specs(manuel) for the sound blaster 5. SB0680
i just want to know the specs so i know what EAX version this can go up to?
i looked at the manuel at creative but its quite useless lol
does any one know what year this card was made also?
and is their a tool for like turning off EAX and effects and turning em on? becasue in the creative manuel it says you get this(i didit get a cd with the card as its off ebay)
Creative WaveStudio
Creative Recorder
Creative PlayCenter
Creative Mixer
nirtoshift gave me most of em but their made for the augidy and they didit install so where can i get em? all i want is the creative mixer so i can make effect go on and off
lol i just saw a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS PCI 7. HD surround sound card mabye i should just get that as its 99c at the moment would that be any better then the card i got now? comes with two games

The Audigy 2 is a fantastic sound card and would blow the socks off the 5.. Dan K. has a pack up on these boards that would let that card work with everything! up to Windows 7. Check it out right here.........//forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&thread.id=39702
The Audigy 2 zs I had in my machine had a deeper sound in my opinion versus my X-FI Fatality PCI and X-FI Titanium.
Forget the 5. and grab the ZS, you'll be glad you did. The EAX effects can be turned on in the games themselves that nati'vely support the card with EAX on the box. For Windows XP you will want to turn off EAX in the control panel that is in the above software and enable the EAX INSIDE the game that supports it.
There is Alchemy included in Dan K.'s pack for translating EAX calls into OPENAL which vista and Windows 7 support.

  • Tech Spec? - Sound compatability Problems

Sorry all ........ I posted this last week but nobody answered my query .......... could someone help with some SIMPLE TECH SPEC?
When playing back any of the work which we produce in iDVD in a Home Cinema 5.1 type environment, there are soundtrack incompatibility issues and the result is DVD's made in iDVD playback clicking, spitting & at the wrong pitch!
Having done a little research with the very helpful Dolby consultants in England, I found that the audio formatt a "standard" commerciallly available movie encoded in 5.1 uses is 16 bit 48 khz ......... however, having scoured the iDVD website, I can't find definitive Audio Spec for the vob files that iDVD resolves in it's final masters. To confirm my suspicions that for some reason Mac chose to use a different standard of their own, CAN ANYONE POINT ME TO SOME DEFINITIVE AUDIO TECHNICAL SPEC?
    Many thanks Richard

    Hi Len
Many thanks for your input. Unfortuanately my question wasn't what "iDVD likes" .................... I'm having great trouble finding an answer to - WHAT IT MAKES ?
I'm a movie composer and have started using iDVD to compile showreels of clips from movies that I've scored. So my "source" is actually a series of Quicktime PAL DV movies which have been exported from original masters. The Quicktime files that I drop into iDVD all contain stereo 16 bit 48 khz soundtracks.
When you play any of my iDVD compiled showreels on a standard stereo DVD player (or even in the Macs own DVD player), they play absolutely fine.
HERE'S WHERE THE PROBLEM BECOMES A BIG ISSUE:
A lot of production companies have 5.1 "Home Cinema" type playback systems in their offices, and I've found that when they play iDVD derived stuff back through the 5.1, the resulting soundtrack (ie. my years of hard labour!) is horrid.
I simply wonder what the DVD's we burn from within iDVD resolve as a sound format when they make the VOB files - because they use a differnent format to the one used by the companies that manufacture commercial DVD's for the worlds motion picture industry? ie. What is the Sample/Bit Rate of iDVD produced DVD's
    Many thanks Richard

  • Lots of questions about Sound Cards and DJ'ing

    Hello,
I am thinking about purchasing a MacBook. First some background. I play in a wedding/corporate band who occasionally hires a DJ to play in between our sets. Sometime I just bring out my Ipod and plug in to avoid this cost. Most DJ's we use bring out a laptop and just plug directly into our PA. I started looking into laptops so we could cut out The DJ cost all together.
In my research I found that Mac's seem to be the Laptop of choice for most DJ's. My question is about the sound card inside the Macs. Is it a good quality. Would I need to upgrade in order for it to sound good going through a PA system. What are the audio outputs for Macs? As I said before I sometimes just use my Ipod and that sounds pretty good but its hard to search for things etc. And which Macbook do you think I should be looking at. The Pro or the regular?
    Thank you for your help.

. Lithium Ion batteries last at peak performance for about 3 years, or 300-500 charges, whatever comes first. They will still work after this for several years, but at reducing performance.
    2. Sorry, not sure...
    3. Again, not sure. You're taking a risk that the adapter is compatible.
    4. Only you can make that decision. Just look at this and the other players and compare the features and price.
    5. The in-built microphones are not great quality, and really only good for recording interviews and meetings, that type of thing.

  • Confused about sound cards

  • Can I do a sampling with a rate of 96000hertz using a sound card?

I have a question about sound card.I supposed to collect signal using a sound card which says supporting a sampling rate of 96000 hertz. But VIs about sound card in Labview can only do sampling with a maximum rate of 44100 hertz.I try to modify the VI,however,it says there are some wrong choiced numerics.
What I want to ask is how can I change the software to adapt to my target. Is that possible? If it is,can someone give me an example?
    Thank you very much!

The native LabVIEW sound VIs are limited to the sample rates in the enums. If you want a different sample rate (or more control, or a different format...), you will need to make API calls using the call library node or ActiveX. A search of this forum should point you in the right direction.

  • [SOLVED] No sound on SPDIF with Intel ICH10 Sound Card

    Hi everyone,
I'm coming from Fedora 12 and recently got a fresh installed Archlinux. I'm very satisfied by the distribution and everything works just as expect for the moment, except one thing : SPDIF output of my sound card.
I installed the following packages :
    $ pacman -Qs alsa
    local/alsa-firmware 1.0.20-2
    ALSA firmware package
    local/alsa-lib 1.0.22-1

    The following command :
    $ aplay -D front:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 tmp/Norrlanda.wav
gives me sound on the analog (HP) output but this one :
    $ aplay -D iec958:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 tmp/Norrlanda.wav
gives absolutly nothing (I tested the HDMI output and it's fully functionnal).
I unmuted everything that could be unmuted on alsamixer and tested varied combo of options snd_hda_intel model=XXXX (as I read that those type of card can have issue of this kind). I try to delete the /etc/asound.state file, various configuration in /etc/asound.conf. But nothing.
In last resort, I rebooted on a F12 LiveCD and there… everything works fine ! The SPDIF output works just great, without any manipulation (with the same command as above). I tried to import the configuration of /etc/alsa, /etc/pulse and /etc/modprobe.d from this F12 LiveCD (looking if there was any special options about sound card I can just copy/paste to Archlinux) but this failed one more time.
I really really don't see what I can do to solve this problem (and I already spend 2 entire days on this issue without any result… frustrating). So if someone's got a solution or suggestion (some configurations I can try) on this issue, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx to jonnor on the IRC Archlinux Channel, it works now !!
For everyone experiencing the same problem with DG45 intel sound card (Codec: IDT 92HD73E1X5 to be accurate), the documented module is not the right one. Use model=no-jd if you want to have the SPDIF output functionnal.

  • HOW TO GO ABOUT DISCONECTING OLD SOUND CARD ,SO THE NEW BLAALASTER CAN LO

i HAVE A SONY VAIO AND I DO NOT SEE A CHIPBOARD FOR THE OLD SOUND CARD? HOE TO LOCATE THIS,WOULD STOP THIS INSSANNITY........PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD DOE A FELLA GOOD? IS THERE A SET PIN JUMPER SOMEWHERE?

Whoah whoah fist of all cool down man, there's nothing to get so nervous about. And don't try prying the poor VAIO open and locating any soundboards, unless you usually go around desoldering stuff...the soundboard is just a chip, leave it alone. To disable it, all you need to do is turn off an option in the BIOS, no knifes, screwdrivers or solderers needed.
Oh and uninstalling the windows drivers for the onboard sound would help, too.

  • Sound Card Specs on Mac Pro Late 2013

Does anyone have detailed information about the Sound Card used in the Mac Pro Late 2013 or where I can find these?
Is this sound card capable of outputting a digital signal capable of professional audio processing? I'd like to connect it straight to a high end external DAC.
    Thanks!

I'm currently using a Meridian Explorer. It works quite well for me with my Audio Engine A5+ active speakers.

  • Question about Audigy sound card

Hi everyone, right now i have a very outdated sound card, a creative li've 6 bit. It sucks i'm not going to lie. But anyways, i have my home theatre system hooked up into it through a Y splitter cable so that i can hook the rca cables into the /8 slot in the sound card.
If i turn up the speakers really loud, i hear a static noise, a hum and fuzz if you will. The music usually drowns it out but then if the music stops i'm left with an awful hum. I am for sure upgrading to the Audigy Extreme, and i'm wondering if that would have any affect? I know the sound of the actual movie or song will be way better, but how about that hum?
    Hopefully you all can help!
    thanks so much!

    sprint_9,
Yes, you're right. The Digital I/O module isn't compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
You should be able to find a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable easily from your local audio/electronic stores if not, you can also get a 3.5mm stereo to dual RCA cable for the same purpose. Take note, only one end of the RCA cable has the audio signal(Sorry, can't remember whether it's the white or the red end).
You can also find such cable from online stores like this.

  • Questions about the best sound card & speakers for my setup...

    Greetings,
I am building another high-end dekstop PC. I'm looking for a NICE sound card and a set of 7.1 speakers. I currently have a X-Fi Fatalty FPS card, but was thinking of selling it and getting an X-Fi Prelude since it has optical out. I was also thinking about a set of Gigaworks S750 speakers, until I realized they don't have optical in. I was hoping someone more familiar with PC Audio could help me out. I have read several things (including the sticky/float post) about digital audio, but I still have a few questions.
    1. What are the advantages/disadvantages of Digital Audio? (I have heard it sounds worse?!)
    2. What is the best way to encode/decode audio? (Possibly keep it all Digital and not decode at all?)
    3. Is EAX, Alchemy, CMSS compatible with Digital?
    4. Why would Creative's top of the line S750 speakers not have Digital In?
I will be running Windows Vista and using the PC to play a lot of Games (including EAX), listen to music (mostly MP3 and WMA), and watch DVDs (I want FULL surround sound support). I want to have the ability to CMSS upmix stuff also. Can someone recommend something for me...
    -Thank you

  • PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 Sound Card Compatibility

Specs say need a Direct X 9 or 10 sound card or one that is compatible.  Is DTS sound+ card compatible?  Found a Windows laptop on a Black Friday special that meets all the other requirements but can't find an answer about the sound card.  Hope someone has a quick answer since the sale on the laptop ends tomorrow.  Thanks.
And now I know thre answer to my question.  After almost an hour on the phone with HP, I know that the sound cards are compatible--the tech that helped was really great and ended up running around their call site to check with other tech reps to find the answer.  Apparently not a very common question, since before I submitted my question here, I had talked with Best Buy and the tech I spoke with there didn't have the answer.
Thanks to all who stopped to look at my question.

if you downloaded the premier elements 12 install file, search for recent files.
if you can't find it, redownload it.

  • Sound Card for Disk Jock

On my PC i had a creative sound blaster audigy. it had 4 great traits:
    1. inexpensive ~$200
    2. great sound configuration options
    3. RCA in and out
    4. 24bit sound
What is a good sound card for my imac? i would like it to have the above traits.
    any help is appreciated

When I was shopping about 6 months ago, here was my short list.
They're all nice boxes, so I won't try to sway your opinion by telling
you which one I bought. Anyhow, I use it for recording, not D-J.
There are also some nice firewire boxes out there, but I limited my
search to USB. I didn't want the audio interface and external HDD
interfering with one another while recording. Also, I occasionally
need to use it with a (USB-only) Windoze machine.
I believe the E-Mu unit has the best tech specs, i.e., best S/N ratio.
BTW, E-Mu is Creative's professional product line.
M-Audio has some nice features (audio inserts, if you need 'em).
OTOH, it's USB 1.1, so the number of simultaneous I/O channels
is rather limited when using 24-bit audio at high sampling rates.
Edirol (Roland) is probably the most rugged/bulletproof (but it's
probably a little above your $200 target). Check Amazon.com.

None of them have RCA connectors for all inputs/outputs -- but that's easy to
fix with a few RCA-to-1/4" (mono) phone plug adapters from RadioShack.
    ...rock on!
