Technical Monitoring - Metric for Mail (SOST)

Hi experts,
does anybody know, if there is a metric in Technical Monitoring which checks the EMails of SOST?
I mean especially, the amount of mails which are failed.
Otherwise I will develop a customer metric.
Kind regards

Hi Christian,
I haven't used for any template for SOST and not sure even on it's existence in delivered templates.
However, you have this thing RZ20 to check number of emails in queue.
You can use the metric in RZ20 and migrate it in Tech Moni.
Make and test a custom alert using the below documents

  • Technical Monitoring - Metric Sybase Performance

    Hi experts,
are there any performance-metrics in technical monitoring for database "Sybase"?
I found metrics like physical reads and writes or logical.
But they are only for temp-db usage.
So I think not really relevant for performance, or are the relevant?
I am not really sure what it means.
What I am looking for is like, how many reads/writes per seconds and what was the average time for <SID>-DB.
Also I don't get any results for Disk Reads/Writes per Seconds.
    Kind regards

    Hello Giri,
I had a discussion with this about SAP.
And no, it is not possible to create customer metrics regarding ASE-performance.
All ASE-performance metrics get calculated within ST-PI coding and are hardcoded.
So there is no kind of "extractor" like CCMS which can be used.
Sure, it would be possible to code your own performance-calculation, but therefore you need to access the ASE-data, which I don't know how to realize.
However, in SP12 a lot of new ASE-performance metrics will be delivered.
    So looking forward.

  • Performance monitoring Metrics required to idntify meamory , IO issues

    Hello All,
Can some one , come up with your ideas to identify the  metrics required to capture the meamory or I/O issues in sql server .
i would like to know the exact metrics to identify when my clients says meamory or i/o performance issues
    thank you

    hemadri

    Hi Hemadribabu,
According to your description, you want to know the performance monitoring metrics on memory and I/O. About memory, there are top six SQL monitor metrics for analysis, such as Avg. CPU Queue Length, Avg. Disk Queue Length, Memory Pages/Sec, Latch Wait Time,
Buffer Page Life Expectancy and  Average Lock Wait Time. These metrics provide ways to quickly understand the general performance characteristics of your system. For more information, you can review the following articles.
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/sql-tools/top-six-sql-monitor-metrics-for-analysis/
    http://www.manageengine.com/products/applications_manager/sql/memory-monitoring.html
About I/O issue, there are some factors affect I/O, such as overload disks, poorly defined queries, poorly performing disk and so on. For more information about disk I/O, you can review the following blog.

  • Where do I set the polling frequency for Technical monitoring in Solution Manager 7.1 SP10 ??

    Hi All,
I am customizing my technical monitoring templates and would like to know :
    1. Where we can set the polling frequency for each metrics for triggering alerts through Technical monitoring in Solution Manager 7.1 SP10 ??
    2. Is it like each time our threshold is breached, it will send an alert irrespective of polling frequency ??
I know the data collection interval time for each metrics in technical monitoring template but the as per my observation the polling frequency is different.
    Need your guidance.
    Regards,
    Manish K

    Hi Javier,
Refer to the documentation 'MAI Alert Consumer BAdI Interface' under
http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/TechOps/Alert+Consumer+BAdI+Interface link for information on the input to the BAdI.

  • Technical Monitoring: customizing cancelled batch jobs metric

We have recently implemented Solution Manager Technical Monitoring.  We are struggling with the Number of cancelled jobs metric.
Our issue is that users have the ability to cancel their own background jobs.  This of course triggers the alert.  So, from that standpoint this alert can yield a lot of "false positives".
On the other hand, we do have jobs where we would like an alert - jobs by name, by ID, by program...etc.
However when I look at the Data Collection tab for the number of cancelled jobs metric(s), the parameters are very basic and don't provide any parameters to filter out jobs based on regular expressions as some other metrics do.
Does anyone have any insight into how this metric could be customized?  Or, more ambitiously, could this be implemented as a brand new custom metric?  If so, this seems to be a more involved process and we haven't seen a real comprehensive "guide" on how to create and implement a brand new custom metric so if anyone has any experience or documentation to share that would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    Jeff Henke

    Hi Jeff,
I have been through the exact scenario in my previous project and can relate to your frustration.
The issue is that Technical Monitoring only plays with numbers when it comes to Job monitoring. This is also because Jobs are considered more of a Business related function.
Therefore, the best option would be to go for BPMon for jobs monitoring. This is the way I went and got a lot of success with it.
Once you have setup the BPMon structure - basic setup etc, Solution etc.
Goto BPO Workcenter and configure the monitoring object of type Simple job.
Here you can specify wildcard within the jobs that you want to monitor. for eg, *ERP*SO* - this would monitor all Sales order jobs for all country etc.... you then have to (ofcourse) define all the other components like notifications etc settings.
A detailed document created in SCN - Job Monitoring using BPM
Now as the email notification that comes out of the alert is pretty standard and at least didn't meet my requirements, so I wrote a BADI and configured the same within the Monitoring object to call this BADI.
You can see a complete step by step implementation of my BADI in SCN Customize Email Subject in Solman 7.1 using BADI
    Hope this helps
    All the best
    Regards
    Deepak

  • Technical Monitoring -SLT System - No Metrices delivered

    Dear Experts,
I have configured Technical Montoring for SLT system in our landscape .
But still i could not find few metrics  collecting data . It shows as no metrics delivered .
Attachment has details about the metrics .
Please help me to fix the issue and let me know for further details .
    Regards
    Bala

    Hi Balamurugan,
The solution for this kind of issues are different and not fixed solutions. But please check below points to make sure you have covered all steps.
1)LMDB landscap verfication should green for managed system.
2)Managed system setup should be green .
3)In technical monitoring setup make sure you assign all templates which is valide for your managed system software components.
4)After TechMon activation check managed system extractors in "Extractors Framework" administration and make sure all extrator in active and last runs are green.

  • Technical Monitoring - Mail: Acknowledge/OK

    Hello experts,
I have three questions about mail notification in solution manager technical monitoring.
    1. Acknowledge
Also when I postpone an alert in technical monitoring (maybe 1 week back) I receive an email about the problem.
    Is this a bug?
    2. OK/Acknowledge-Mail
Is there a possibilty to receive also an email, when the status is changed to "Acknwoledge/postponed" or to green-status (=OK)?
    Kind regards

    Hello Roland,
yes, but this does not make sense.
Because, I also hid the alert because I am already informed about the issue.
And so I don't want to get spamed with 100s of mails.
And I also would like to acknowledge my colleagues, that already one guy is working no problem.
    Especially durring night-shifts.
    Kind regards

  • Technical Monitoring for Logical host name

    Dear experts,
We are in mid of technical monitoring finalisation.
one of the interesting thing which i found with respect to the logical host name, we installed SMD agent on Virtual host name and our system is not with HA environment and no clustering. It is just a system with single instance.
During the managed system configuration all the physical and logical host name reported by SMD autodiscovery, all went fine. But in Technical monitoring shows only virtual host name with the updated alerts , and logical host name only shows grey alert.
    virtual host shows alert here
    logical host name shows grey
how can i get alert displayed for logical host name too? do i need to do some settings at the OS level , could you guide us?
    Thanks
    Jansi

    Hi Giri Raju Ayyagari,
I am sorry, seems you are still not able to get my issue, moreover you get diverting my issue
Here the problem is not at all related to agents on fly. thats the separate topic.
We are having issue on Logical Host names where there is no HA environment, means only One logical host name created.
I raised to SAP, l will update once the update from SAP given.

  • Is SAP-OSS RFC Configuration required for Technical Monitoring ?

    Hi Experts,
I have not configured the SAP-OSS rfc connection. Is it required for setting up the technical monitoring(Tcode : SOLMAN_SETUP).
If Yes can you please help me in solving the above problem. Our aim is to configure  technical monitoring for  system and self-monitoring.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Satheesh E

    Hello,
I am assuming you are speaking about 100 concurrent users and not the entire company userbase.
Core i5 (although is dual core underneath) is generally meant for desktops, having said this, please note that its difficult to arrive at any recommendation based on simply userbase. You need to have more data with you with respect to amount of transactions, concurrent users, peak period, load during peak period etc.
You need to use SAP's quicksizer to calculate the amount of SAPS for your production servers, SAPS is the unit used to calibrate your hardware for running SAP Applications.
If you provide your SAPS value to hardware vendor, they will advise what CPU rating and how many CPUs you need. They will infact tell you the entire configuration that you need.
you can also buy the following book:

  • Technical Monitoring one template used for production and non-production system.

    Dear All,
Is there a way to have one template in Solman Technical Monitoring for production system and non-production system with different alerts ? For example if it exceeds a threshold for production system it will trigger red alert or set automatically an incident and if it's non prod system it will go to yellow warning alert ?
    Regards
    Lukasz Goral

    Hi Likasz,
You first create and customize the template, and then assign to a system.
If it was selecting a system and then customizing a template, then may be such functionality makes sense.
So, I don't think that is possible.
Better would be copy the template used for production to non-production and make the adjustment to it.

  • Technical Monitoring - DBA Connection red (failure)

    Hi experts,
    I have the following problem.
In technical monitoring I have one managed system, on which the DB availability check is not working.
The DB is a Sybase ASE 15.7
In solman_setup->system config the DB connection is configured well (green status).
Also if I open the dbacockpit of solution manager, I can see the DB of the managed system and the connection checks are working fine.
But in technical monitoring, I get the alert that the DB is not available and also that "DBA Cokcpit Connection Status" = failure.
If I go to the details of the alert, I also can't see the problem.
I did already remove and add the system more often. Further I also did remove the connection in dbacockcpit and created it again.
But now I don't have any further ideas.
    Hopefuly somebody can help me.
    Thank you

  • SOLMAN 7.1 Technical Monitoring - System Monitoring - Host Grey

    Hi All,
Wondering why my host monitoring in system monitoring is greyed out? I managed to get Technical Systems, Database and others work well but not Host Monitoring.
I checked SAPHOSTAGENT is running fine, DAA and wily as well. Also, all updated to latest version. Template assigned to Host monitoring as well. All troubleshooting and logs leaves no clue.
Any idea as i've run out of ideas.....
    Cheers,
    Nicholas Chang

    Hi Roland,
I did check and below are what it returns:
Configuration XML 7.01.01.20120305075238 did not reach the agent. Agent XML:
No measured values have been reported by data provider.
No measured values were ever calculated.
However, when i click on the "FIX" icon, nothing appears........
I've changed the metric for "Host" managed object, assign and activate, rerun technical monitoring setting.
i dont find any useful thread on SDN nor SMP. I've drill to landscape browser, agent log, daa log, extractor and etc but to no avail. However, i did get host info on Wily and E2E.... just wondering???
    Any clues?
    Thanks,

  • Disable EWA Alerts ins Technical Monitoring

    Hello,
I would like to disable certain "Early Watch Alert" Alerts in the Technical Monitoring application of Solution Manager 7.1.
E.g. in my setup we get the warning that EWA:Security-Alert: "Security-related SAP notes have not been applied"...
Since this will be the case for most systems most of the time I don't want the warning to appear in the technical monitoring Dashboards.
I figure, that these alerts propably have something to do with "EWA Integration into MAI" and also that a "Early Watch Alert Template" seems to exist.
Unfortunately I'm not able to configue this template.
Do any of you know where "EWA Integration into MAI" or the above mentioned template can be customized?
    Best Regards,
    Thorsten

    Hi,
Other way, you can manually deactivate metrics from the Technical monitoring setup, template maintenance-> select the template -> uncheck the EWA metrics.
    Thanks
