Technical Mystery

When we turned on AppleTv last night, there were two (and only two) titles displayed; neither of which were uploaded from our computer. When we opened Itunes on our laytop, the full video library appeared and the two original titles disappeared.  We were very curious about the those two original titles because they were quite obviously "home made" and not in our video library.  We closed down Itunes and tried to recreate the circumstance of when they originally appeared; no luck.  We searched the HDs of the laptops and cannot find any record of them on AppleTV or on our computer.  Any ideas what might have brought on these "mystery movies"?

I'm not a RH user, so I'm about 99.9% sure I won't be able to offer many suggestions, I'm sorry -- but hopefully somebody else here will be able to jump in.
In the meantime, though, there is a forum that is specifically for FM+RH, though, have you taken a look through it?

  • Is there any way to contact verizon with a detailed cell phone technical support question?

Is there any way to contact Verizon with a detailed cell phone technical support question?  I prefer e-mail so as to provide details (like I am trying to provide here).  I have tried in-store personnel (no help at all) and the web chat - they just want to see me more data instead of helping me with my basic problem!
I CAN NOT GET ANYONE FROM VERIZON TO GIVE ME ANY HELP NOR CAN I FIND A WAY TO FILE A COMPLAINT.  AT THIS POINT I JUST WANT TO DROP MY VERIZON ACCOUNT BUT I'M SURE THAT IT WILL COST ME A SMALL FORTUNE TO GET OUT OF IT.
    Here is my issue:
Chat transcript removed as required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service
BELOW IS A SCREEN COPY FROM REDDIT ABOUT SOMEONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A VERIZON CELL PHONE
So last night my RAZR MAXX HD did something totally bewildering by spontaneously downloading 2.6 GB of data over the course of ~ 3 hours. Fortunately I was able to catch this problem before it ended up being really expensive, but I still exceeded my 2 GB data plan by 600MB.
    The Culprits:
Reddit News Free: 160 MB foreground / 0.96 GB background
Android OS: 0 MB foreground / 1.18 GB background
Several unnamed applications: ~ 350 MB
    Screenshots:
    The massive data spike
    Android OS data usage
    Reddit News Free data usage
    Weird unnamed processes
    Detailed timeline:
5:12 PM: Incident begins according to VZW data usage website (2.60410 GB used). This is around the last time that I used my phone at the laundromat before getting dinner and watching Game of Thrones.
8:04 PM: 50% of data allowance used (txt msg)
8:31 PM: 75% of data allowance used (txt msg)
8:58 PM: 90% of data allowance used (txt msg)
9:13 PM: 100% of data allowance used (txt msg)
10:05 PM: Got the text messages and immediately put the phone into airplane mode
    10:30 PM: Took screenshots
10:45 PM: Enabled wifi, installed Kaspersky premium. Scan returned no threats.
11:00 PM: Left phone in airplane mode, went to sleep.
    The questions:
What was the root cause of this issue? Did Reddit News freak out as a result of an esoteric bug or was my phone hacked?
If this was a simple Reddit News bug, then why was the Android OS also trying to use such a massive amount of background data?
What the hell are these unnamed numeric applications? I've inspected my process history and this is the first time they have ever attempted to use data.
I'm pretty sure that I can explain this situation to Verizon and get out of having to pay additional data usage fees, but I would like to know more about the problem before I get in touch with them.

All I can think is your phone may have background downloaded an OTA update, and you'd then be prompted with something like, "As update to your Android system has been downloaded, would you like to install it now?"
I do find it very odd that the update would be 2.6GB. As a rough base, the CyanogenMod 10.1 firmware for your device is well under 200MB, so unless Verizon has a ****-ton of bloatware in the update, or it had to attempt to download multiple times for some reason, it may be a stretch.
But doing a little homework, it looks like the Verizon Razr Maxx was updated to 4.1 in late March. Maybe they're still rolling it out in waves? Have you gotten the update yet?
Edit: Aaaand I just noticed you appear to be running an AOSP-based ROM, which totally rules out a carrier update being sent out.
Edit2: If you want to live dangerously, you could try running:
    #kill -9 12289
That 12289 is the PID listed in your screenshot. But don't run that without fulling understanding the kill command.
The ps command could also be of use, but probably not.

I can confirm that the phone is currently at 4.1.2 and that I wasn't prompted for an OTA update. The fact that both the Android OS and Reddit News processes were simultaneously using an extremely large amount of data is unlikely to be a coincidence...

That is very curious that the spikes happened at the same time.I'm curious. It may have put at least some of that 2.6GB somewhere. You could use a data visualizer tool to see if you can find it, which may lead to more clues.

    The largest directories are:
DCIM: Normal looking photos (90,825 KB)
Android: Primarily map cache data (64,846 KB)
If it was downloading content then it did not significantly save content to storage. It's not like I have anything particularly sensitive on the phone, but the idea that it was uploading a snapshot of my data definitely makes me uncomfortable.

Yup, Digital Camera IMages and videos.Somewhere in /sdcard/Android would be my guess as to where a mysterious file would be downloaded, but if it's only 64MB, and mostly map data, I'd safely rule it out.I'm sorry, but I'm stumped here.Edit: I should mention I don't think this is malware, because unless a malicious app gained superuser access, any data it used would show under it's own apk in the data usage list, not Android OS.

Although I'm not really up to speed with the Android platform, I come from a UNIX background so I feel comfortable running commands. How do I pull up a bash terminal? Do I need to root the phone first?

There's a number of terminal emulators in the Play Store that work well. You don't need a rooted phone to get to the shell as your user, but any privileged command won't execute unless you can grant it permission from the Superuser app that is installed when you root the device. So you could probably do a ps -e, but not a kill -9.

Got it. I downloaded a terminal emulator but unfortunately those processes no longer exist.Does Android keep a generic log of system level events like /var/log/syslog?

I don't think so, and I know you'd need superuser permission to read most of the files in /var/log anyway. I'm not super familiar with how Android does its logging, but I do know that the two files of interest are the logcat and dmesg.

Want to mention here that using your settings to set your data cap (set it on your billing day), then you won't go over again. Those text messages are really unhelpful, as they send out well after the data has been used. Chances are good you hit close to the 2GB mark before you received the bulk of the messages.

    Quit installing pirated apps.

That's definitely not the case here; both my PC and and Android phone are free from pirated apps.

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • Mystery of mysteries. Can't get rid of "Glossary" text on Favorites tab.

I consider myself relatively well-versed in chm file compiling and chm related issues, but this one has me stumped...
    System Specs;
RH 9 now (initial English help in background below was compiled using RH 7)
    Windows 7 64-bit
First, the background -- We use RoboHelp to compile our English CHM. We then decompile the files from the CHM and ship those off for localization. When they come back from translation, we use usually use FAR HTML to recompile the help. Sometimes we use RH (if FAR HTML is being tempermental). And in rare cases, like today, we use both. So today I was working on compiling a Traditional Chinese help we got back from translation recently. I tried using FAR HTML as usual for the initial post-translation compile. I ran into various and sundry compiler errors that made no sense whatsoever, so I decided to try compiling it in RH instead. The compilation made it through, but the Contents and Index tabs weren't displaying the proper Chinese characters. So I took this Traditional Chinese chm that was compiled by RH, decompiled it, and tinkered with .hhc and .hhk file encoding and charsets and used FAR HTML again to compile. And this time compiling worked without a hitch. We got proper characters. Yay! So far so good. Well, sort of. That's just the background.
Now, the problem -- So now, compiling back in FAR HTML from the above decompiled RH 9 files, I'm getting a psuedo Glossary tab I don't want since in our localized versions of the help. (We simply just call an htm containing the glossary info, and tie the htm to the toolbar.) I say "pseudo" because here's what the navigation pane on the compiled help looks lilke:
Notice that the Favorites tab is actually somehow getting named as "Glossary".  We don't want this. I want the default "Favorites" text for the tab. If I unregister the hhactivex.dll and recompile, the "Glossary" string on the tab thankfully goes away, showing just "Favorites". If I register the dll again or move the compiled help onto a system with a registered hhactivex.dll, the problem reappears all by itself when the help is launched.
How can I get my Favorites tab back to normal? I suspect this problem is contained somewhere in the HHP file, specifically my Windows definition. But I've tried recreating the hhp, and the window definition many times, but it still appears. I even at one point tried removing the Favorites tab but then the mystery "Glossary" text moves onto infesting the Search tab.
Here's my hhp innards if it helps:

Is RH somehow still doing something to it even though technically I'm not using it to compile? Is there some other setting or file somewhere that could be controlling this or is it just a compiler bug that I've never noticed?

Thanks Cara, but I'm not sure if that's the same thing. In this problem the Favorites tab in the CHM was showing up with the word "Glossary" in it. Anyway, it's water under the bridge now for me. Things are better now that we're localizing our Engish RH project directly, instead of our old way of decompiling the English chms and sending the decompiled htms.

  • What Technically Do OSX Input/Output Slider Positions Mean?

I'm wondering what the sound output and input sliders in OSX actually mean technically. They're nicely "simple" and "intuitive" -- uh, and give you absolutely no information about what's going on.
This is for a stock Mac with default soundcard, and whatever the audio functionality is called these days (Sound Manager? Core Audio?).
For audio out, is the slider at "maximum" sending out the full bitdepth of audio from an application, and if you pull down the slider, it's cutting bit depth? Or is there an amplification boost at maximum?
For audio in, in the Sound control panel:
    • If the slider is all the way to the left, does that mean the incoming sound is not being touched (unity gain), or is being cut in level?
    • If the slider is all the way to the right, does that mean the incoming sound is not being touched (unity gain), or is being amplified? If amplified, by how much?
    • If unity gain is somewhere inbetween, exactly where on the mysteriously uniformative slider markings do we find it? And what do the other markings mean (how much cut below unity for each mark to the left of unity, how much amplification for each mark to the right?)
    • What do the input indicator lights mean? In OS9 the lights were green/yellow/red like a normal meter. In OSX, they're all blue. Is there a difference in functionality or just an overzealous "Aqua" interface designer? Is anything telling me clipping is occurring? What does each light indicate in terms of decibels?
And is there any Apple documentation on any of this anywhere??
    Thanks!

If you're talking about the hardware ins and outs on the Mac itself, I don't think it really matters. On the input side, use the meters in Logic - and your ears. Try to get a good level without distortion. Make sure the Pre Fader Metering option is on in LP. (Also make sure the correct input source is selected in the Apple Sound System Preference Pane - probably line as the built-in mic is way noisy.)
On the output side, you can max the Mac's volume control. When I play test tones from i-Tunes, the meter on my interface shows the correct level if I max the i-Tunes volume AND the Mac volume, although some mastered CD's will clip so you may actually want to put the Mac's volume 2 - 3 "notches" below max.
That said, the Mac's built-in audio isn't the best way to record or monitor. It works in a pinch but you're limited to 16-bits on the recording side and the input hardware is pretty noisy. You might want to look into an inexpensive firewire interface...

  • Apple TV purchased items mysteriously disappearing.

I purchased a season of a TV show, and I downloaded directly to Apple TV.  I have a first gen box.  I contacted Apple and they claimed they "posted the missing items to my Apple ID".  When I checked my Apple TV unit - some of the missing items appeared.  Then they mysteriously disappeared again!  I have sent multiple emails to Apple Technical Support and they have now stopped responding to my emails.  I called Technical Support and they were no help.  I saw on a discussion board where if you repurchase the items Apple will recognize that you already purchased, and allow you to download at no cost - NOT THE CASE.  I tried, and I was asked " Are you sure you want to repurchase items?"   There is an ITunes option to download previously purchased music and apps BUT NOT AN OPTION TO DOWNLOAD PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED MOVIES OR TV SHOWS.
Note I am running the most recent version of Itunes and I am running the most recent software for Apple TV.
    This i

I am the only person with access to the unit.  I live alone.  I doubt that Apple purposely "deleted" the content.  It should have downloaded but I believe it did not.  It believe the content was streaming, even though I opted to download.  THe point is that Apple has not corrected the provblem.  It has not provided the content for download even though I purchased it.

  • Mysterious Infoobject

    Hi Experts,
can u please solve the mystery below.
I Checked in the metadata repository for a an Infoobject. The metadata repository says it is being used in an ODS, but when i look at the Contents tab in Manage Data Targets for that ODS, I cant find it. Moreover when i run a query on this ODS i am able to see in the query. also it has some data in the query. can anyone help me with this .. Thank u
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
You can check from the Infoobject maintanence (RSD1) from where used list.
And it is possible that the InfoObject is a reference Object of another infoobject.
If you are getting values in Query check the Technical name for the field and validate within the ODS fields by selecting all Charecterstic and Keyfigure, sometimes you may not be choosing all to display.
    Hope this helps..
    Best Regards,
    DMK

  • MYSTERIOUS PHONE CALLS

    Hello everyone:
My family has landline phone. We have had the same phone number for 19 years. When we first came to the U.S. there seemed to be a problem with our phone line: when one picks up the phone handset you hear a radio-like chatter. We did not speak English well at the time, so we never contacted our phone company. Anyhow, the phone companies changed but our phone # remained the same. We changed the phone device and the chatter disappeared. However, strange things would happen in intervals--some times years apart. Mainly, we would receive phone calls from our own phone number. The caller ID shows our phone number. Now I know that a cell phone may have a technical problem and would start to dial either itself or other numbers. Again, ours is a landline phone.
    One strange event:
Years ago, no one was home. Dad was working, and mom and I were out to the bank. When I returned home there was a voicemail from my uncle who sounded upset. I called him back and he said: "Why did you call me? You spoke only English, introduced yourself as Mindy and wanted to talk to your father?" It was a rather strange accusation. However, my uncle had proof: his caller ID showed that someone called from our number.
Since then, "Mindy" never called again anyone that I know about, but on occassion we would receive a call from our phone. Some "suspects" on my list include:
    1. A phone line with the same number: wouldn't the phone company notice this? Wouldn't the other party also notice and contact someone?
    2. Some is hacking my phone: can landline phones be hacked? I know there are special cards one can buy and do prank calling. Certainly, my family and I are have not been immune to prank calls over the years. But doesn't everyone get those?
    3. Government is spying: this one is the weakest option I believe in because the government has such sofisticated technology, why would they be so obvious?
    4. Something is wrong with my phone: maybe I need to buy a new one. However, the strange thing is that the phone # has always produced strange occurances (from "Mindy" to radio-like chatter we've experienced). And, the mysterious phone calls do not happen all the time. I would imagine that if there is a technical issue with the phone, the phonecalls from our phone # would be more frequent?
Your thoughts? I am leaning toward #2 and #4. What would you do in my situation? I plan to call Verizon Customer Service on Friday.

It sounds like it could be spoofing your number.  Google the term to better understand the process.  This has been the method used by unscrupulous scammers, debt collectors and telemarketers.

  • Please help me solve a MultiProvider mystery...

    Greetings,
Happy autumn to everyone!  I have a weird situation with a MultiProvider.  I added a key figure to the MultiProvider.  Let's call the InfoObject ZKEY_FIGURE.
In dev and QA, there are no problems.  In production, when I look at the MultiProvider from RSA1, I see ZKEY_FIGURE in the MultiProvider, and I see that it is correctly assigned to an InfoObject in a source InfoProvider.
BUT... when I open up the query designer and create a query against the MultiProvider, ZKEY_FIGURE does not show up anywhere in the query designer.  It is not under key figures on the left-hand side or anywhere else.  In other words, it is in the MultiProvider, but the query designer can't see it.  Therefore, I can't use ZKEY_FIGURE in a query.
What do I need to do to make the query designer see that ZKEY_FIGURE is in the MultiProvider?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

Thanks to everybody for the replies!  I truly appreciate it!
I fixed the problem by re-activating the MultiProvider in dev (even though it was already active) and re-transporting.  That fixed it.  I really don't know what caused this issue or why re-transporting an already-active object would fix it, but I guess it is just a mystery.  I am very happy it is resolved!
Here are the answers to the questions you posed in your replies:
    Question from Prathish:
Can you just try regenerating your query once again and check if the Keyfigure is displayed
    Answer:
Thanks, Prathish.  I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "regenerate", but I did open several queries against the MultiProvider in production and run them.  Whenever I did this, the key figure was not displayed in the query designer.
Also, I created queries from scratch in production.  They had the same problem in which they key figure would not display.
    Question from SSS:
Have you checked technical consistancies using RSRV?
    Answer:
Thanks, SSS.  I didn't try that, but I will make a note of that transaction for next time and appreciate the suggestion.  Thanks!
    Question from prashanthk:
Are you sure the key figure assignment(identification) is done in the multiprovider?
If its there in the Infocube and not visible in MP means once Cross check the identification of KF?
also check for the data is displayed for this KF using the display data or LISTCUBE transaction.
    Answer:
Yes, I've triple-checked the assignment, and my colleagues have also looked at it, because I wanted a second pair of eyes to make sure I wasn't missing something.
I didn't try display data or LISTCUBE, but thanks for suggesting them.  I will remember that for next time!
    Comment from Anass M:
    close all query designer instances
activate the multiprovider again (tcode rsa1, change, activate)
check if something wrong in tcode rsrv.
    Answer:
Thanks, Anass.  Re-transporting fixed it, so I didn't get the chance to look at rsrv, but I will try that next time.
    Question from UPEDNEKAR:
In your post, you are mentioning that when you 'created' a query on the MP you could not see the Key figure. Now , did you created the Query directly on Production server ? How about creating a Query on the Dev. server and checking out if you are encountering similar issue ?
    Answer:
Thanks, UPEDNEKAR.  When I created the query in production, I could not see the key figure.  When I created a query in dev, I could see the key figure.  When I transported that query to Q, I could see the key figure.  When I transported that query to P, the transport went to P with no problems (return code 0).  But... when I opened up the query in production, I got a message that said the key figure did not exist and I had to click "Repair" to remove that key figure from the query.
Thanks again to everyone!  This is what makes the online community so great!  Have a good rest of the week!

  • Why do I have mysterious cellular data usage (Verizon) every 6 hours on all 3 of my iphone 5's?

I have recently uncovered mysterious cellular usage on three different iPhones. I am a Verizon customer and discovered this by examining the cellular data use logs. What I found are a long series of mysterious data usage logs. I have visited the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store 3 times now to log notes and discuss the issue. It is being escalated.
    The characterstics are as follows:
All my family phones have the appropriate IOS and hardware updates (verified by the GeniusBar at my local Apple Store).
This is occuring across three phones, which happen to all be iphone 5. Two are 5 and the other a new 5s. We do have one iphone 4 in the family but the issue (so far as I can tell), is not happening on it.
One iphone 5 has IOS 7, the other IOS 6. The new 5s has of course IOS 7.
Mysterious data use happens even while connected to wifi.
Each mysterious data use log entry is exactly 6 hours apart. For example: 2:18 AM, 8:18 AM, 2:18 PM, 8:18 PM, 2:18 AM ... etc. It cycles AM and PM, same times, for a day to many days until some condition causes it to change (evolve).
The times evolve. One day it could be cycling through at one time series, then it changes to another time sequence and continues until the next condition.
The data usage is anywhere from a few K to many MB. The largest I've seen is over 100 MB.
The logs clearly show these usages are not due to human interaction. It is a program.
If cellular connection is used frequently (by the owner), the pattern is hard to pick out. Luckily, my family member is very good about only using wifi whenever possible, so these mysterious use patterns are easy to pick out.
Verizon allows access to 90 days worth of data logs, so I downloaded and analyzed them. This has been happening for at least 90 days. I have found 298 instances of mysterious use out of 500 total connections to cellular. A total of 3.5 GB of mysterious cellular data has been recorded as used in that 90 days by this phone alone. Only .6 GB of the total cellular data use is legitimate, meaning by the person.
This issue is occuring across three different phones. Two are iPhone 5, and the third is a recently purchased iPhone 5s. The 5s I have not touched beyone the basic startup. I have left it alone on a desk for 3 days, and looking at the logs, the mysterious data use in the same pattern is occuring.
So ... I am speaking to both sides, Verizon and Apple to get answers. Verizon puts their wall up at data usage. It doesn't matter how it is being used, you simply need to pay for it. Yes, the evidence I have gathered is getting closer to someting on Verizon's end.
Before pressing in that direction, I am hoping someone reading this may recognize this issue as a possible iPhone 5 issue ... OR ... you, right now, go look at your data usage logs available through your carrier's web account, and see if you can pick out a pattern of mysterious use. Look especially at the early morning instances when you are most likely sleeping.
I am hoping this is a simple issue that has a quick resolution. I'm looking for the "ooohhh, I see that now ..." But I am starting to think this might be much bigger, but the fact is, most customers rarely or never look at their data usage details, much less discover mysterious use patterns.
The final interesting (maybe frightening part) thing about all this is that I discovered while talking to Verizon ... they do not divulge which direction the data is going. This goes for any use, mysterious or legitimate. Is cellular data coming to your phone, or leaving it? Is something pulling data from your phone? We know that it is possible to build malware apps, but the catch with my issue is that it is also happening on a brand new iphone 5s with nothing downloaded to it.
    Thanks for your time

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • Technical Help on creation of an Object in SAP SRM 4.0

Being on SAP SRM 4.0, we currently have a requirement for creation of Need Definition( Basically a build up for the contract ). Need being collected from the Backend systems need to be validated and approved by Buyers & Lead Buyers in the SRM system.
Technically, this task is broken down to below tasks.
    1) Creation of need definition screen - Basically a template where a need can be created with Items, Sub Items and other related information
    2) Selection Screen for Buyers and Lead Buyers - This enables the the Buyers to select the Need Definition assigned to them based on the status.
    3) Report - List of all the Need Definition( Item and Sub Item)satisfying the selection of step 2. with the possibility to navigate to the Need Definition screen ( Step 1) upon selection.
    Now the question is,
what technology is recommended for the above Tasks? We thought it would be BSP but do you guys have any suggestions...
Do we have any issues in displaying the report in BSP? please let me know
Remember we are version 4.0 of SRM.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Mohan.

Even though I don't have much knowledge on BSP, it should be a good option. Since SAP has used BSP to develop new screens in SRM 5.0.

  • Sender Mail Adapter, technical Acknowledgement

    Hi all,
I have a SMTP --> XI --> Proxy Scenario. For the inbound message I get via SMTP, I'd like to send a technical acknowledgement back to the Sender (via SMTP, too). The acknowledgement has a specific message structure, for example it contains the DocumentID of the inbound message I get via SMTP.
My idea now is: Within ReceiverDetermination, I configure two receivers:
    1. Backend system for the Inbound Proxy
    2. original Sender System
Within Interface Determination, I'll do 2 mappings:
    1. Mapping from source message to ABAP proxy interface
    2. Mapping from source message to technical acknowledgement structure
Then, receiver agreements / receiver communication channels for both interfaces.
My question now is: is there a more elegant solution then doing the scenario like described above? Maybe something I can do in the Sender Mail Adapter to create the specific technical acknowledgement and sent it back to the sending application?
    Best regards
    Holger

    Hi Holger !
XI supported acks are not available for your scenariom because the smtp/mail sender cannot request it.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/frameset.htm
You should create some kind of artificial ack, that should be part of your own protocol. What I meant with the SYNC proxy, is to use its response message as your own defined ack, because it is not supported as is.
If you call your proxy async, then you will not receive any feedback to use it as ack info.
Another idea could be to forget the ack per se, and just use define an alert in case of problems with the scenario to send a mail to the specified users.

  • Technical systems and Business systems in SAP XI

can any one tell me ,breifly explain the  diff b/w <b>Technical Systems</b> & Business Systems?
steps to create Techincal system and Business systems?
and also Steps for creating Software Components? For Technical System we can create more than one Business systems ,what it means?can any one explain?

    Hi
First I let u know with analogy and actual definition as below
Any module of SAP like MM, SRM, FICO ets makes a logical system in combination according to business requirements is a business system which is actualy hosted on an application server like ABAP AS or Java AS which is basically a technical system.
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in system landscape (a CRM server, for example). Most systems (Web AS ABAP and Web AS Java systems) automatically report information to the SLD about the elements that they contain by using the SLD data supplier programs. You need to manually register the following types of system only:
    Standalone Java systems
    Third-party systems
Business systems are logical senders or receivers that exchange messages by using SAP XI and that are entered in the System Landscape Directory.
The business systems in the System Landscape Directory relate to a system landscape.
The business systems of business partners are not entered in the System Landscape Directory. To be able to address such business partners logically, use services in the Integration Directory. A business system is a way of specifying a service in the Integration Directory more precisely (business system service).

  • Can only view BW technical name in Crystal Reports

I am trying to report in Crystal against a BW query with 2 key figure structures. (i.e. rows & column)
If we connect using the recommended BW MDX Query driver the 2nd structure (row) returns as a single flat field (as expected)
In order to get round this I have tried connecting using the BW Query driver. This actually returns the above structure as separate fields. Perfect.
Unfortunately the 1st structure (column from the BW Query) only returns the concatenated technical field name in the field explorer, making it difficult to read. I have changed the view in the Database Options to description but this does nothing.
Any suggestions on how to bring through the field descriptions from BW?
    For info I am using:
    Crystal Reports 2008 SP3
SAP BO Integration Kit XI SP3
    BW 7.1 SP5 enhancement pack 1

    Hi,
the recommended approach is the BW MDX Driver and it works as you described it yourself.
the BW Query Driver has already been deprecated

  • USB 6009 - mysterious problem

Have mysterious problems with my new USB 6009.
    I'm using LabView 7 on MacOS-X 10.3.8.
All vi's of DAQmx show "ERROR 15 - Ressource not found".
    Then I tested:
    - "lsdaq" shows the device
    - "nidatalogger" works
    - "mxbaseconfig" doesn't recocgnize it!
I realy have no idea know what to do now?
    Thank you for helping.
    Greetings,
    Stephan

I happend to stumble over the same issue and found a solution.
The problem really seems to be the firmware in the USB-device. There is
only one way (I think) to make USB600x devices work with linux:
You have to start MAX (on a Windows-box) , go to tools - NI-DAQmx configuration - NI-DAQmx USB Driver Selector.
Press "Switch" and select the BASE-Driver for your USB-Device. This
seems to write something into the device's flash memory. After this
procedure you can use the device with linux and DAQmxBase
Funny thing is, mxbaseconfig still can't see it, but nidatalogger finds it.
Hope that helps, even though this thread seems to be rather old...
