Technical system and Business system

Hi All
I am new XI.
Why we have WEB AS JAVA, WEB AS ABAP, THIRD PARTY  etc etc in Technical system and Business system  and when we will use that ?
Thanks
ss

Hi,
When we try to connect any other SAP R/3 system using XI, we need to create a business system in SLD.
Similarly for third party and WEB AS Java systems.
You will be using these in many scenarios.

  • Difference B/W TECO (Technically Closed) and Business Closed.

    Hi,
I want knw the differnce B/w the technically Completeion of PM  order and Business Completion.
The difference i understood is that TECO status is set to system after all the Technical work is over, that means when no technical  work is pending bt still the order is able to recieve the Cost by material consumption agaisnt the order.
Business Completion is done when all the Cost incurred by the PM order is settled agaisnt the Settlement Recieverdefined by the settlement rule and after Business Completion (CLSD) status is set PM order is not able to recieve any cost from the material consumption.
    This Correct or wrong?
Some People say TECO is automatically set by the system when he found any error at the time of the Business Completion.
    Kindly suggest.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi ,
" The difference i understood is that TECO status is set to system after all the Technical work is over, that means when no technical work is pending bt still the order is able to recieve the Cost by material consumption agaisnt the order."
You can post confirmations, Service Entry Sheet, receive non-stock material against MO thus posting actual costs .. once TECO is done any deletion flag would be set to any open reservations/PR for which PO is not created / Unused capacties will be cancelled..
Normally when you get any errors while doing Business Completion then these mite be some of the reasons :
    1. Any PO is left out for final delivery of material is left out or invoice is pending .. normally for these type issue you get warnings but still you can close the MO .
    2. Any unprocessed cost in MO like when activity type does not have any rate and still you do confirmation then actual hrs will be posted to MO but actual costs related to that will not be posted to MO , under that cases you can remove such errors using Tcode COFC ..
    3. Other cases if you have any user status in your system that stops CLSD ..
The statement which you mentioned is not true ..

  • Technical systems and Business systems in SAP XI

can any one tell me ,breifly explain the  diff b/w <b>Technical Systems</b> & Business Systems?
steps to create Techincal system and Business systems?
and also Steps for creating Software Components? For Technical System we can create more than one Business systems ,what it means?can any one explain?

    Hi
First I let u know with analogy and actual definition as below
Any module of SAP like MM, SRM, FICO ets makes a logical system in combination according to business requirements is a business system which is actualy hosted on an application server like ABAP AS or Java AS which is basically a technical system.
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in system landscape (a CRM server, for example). Most systems (Web AS ABAP and Web AS Java systems) automatically report information to the SLD about the elements that they contain by using the SLD data supplier programs. You need to manually register the following types of system only:
    Standalone Java systems
    Third-party systems
Business systems are logical senders or receivers that exchange messages by using SAP XI and that are entered in the System Landscape Directory.
The business systems in the System Landscape Directory relate to a system landscape.
The business systems of business partners are not entered in the System Landscape Directory. To be able to address such business partners logically, use services in the Integration Directory. A business system is a way of specifying a service in the Integration Directory more precisely (business system service).

  • Creation of technical system and business system

    Hi Guys,
Im just a beginner in SAP XI..I would like to know what will be the setup in my SLD .
My data will be coming from MS SQL and will transfer it to SAP R/3.
Is it true that I need to setup the Technical system , one for my Sender (data coming from sql ) and
one for my Receiver (data will transfer to SAP R/3).
about the Business system? do i need to create buss system for Sender and receiver?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    aVaDuDz

    Hi,
you don't have to create technical system for R/3 you should better use tcode RZ70 for selfregistering:
The specified item was not found.
And for this technical system you should create also a business system.
You should create a technical and business system for your MS SQL if it's inside of your system landscape.
    Here is a good explanation:

  • How to decide no.Technical and Business Systems required for any senario

    Hi XI experts
I am very new to XI but it is very interesting ....
To develop any scenario how to decide Technical systems and Business
         Systems...
For any scenario but how to decide the systems howmany to create ?
I had a scenario like SOAP to RFC to SOAP ? For this how to decide?
One more like FILES to BPM to JDBC ...like
Can any one explain me for any scenario which may include SAP
         R/3,CRM,APO,BW,JDBC,SOAP,RFC...any system.
    Adv..thanks and points to all
    Kiranlvs

    Hi Kiran.
Ok here I will try to answer your question.
    1) SOAP (Web Service) -> RFC (R/3) -> SOAP (Web Service)
    a) you will need to create a Business System for R/3.
    b) you will need to create a third party business system or a business service for the Web Service system.
    2) File (File System) -> XI -> JDBC (Database)
    a) you will need to create a third party business system or a business service for the File system.
    b) you will need to create a third party business system or a business service for the Database system.
note: BPM is one of the functionality of XI so there is no need to create a BS or TS for it.
    3) CRM or APO or BW (SAp Systems) -> XI -> IDoc (R/3)
    a) Business System for CRM or APO or BW
    b) Business System for R/3.
The bottom line is you need to create Business System for any SAP system that is part of you integration scenario or when you have to Idoc, RFC and Proxies.
If the business system already exists for the SAP system then you just need to attach your SWCV or Product to that Business System.

  • SLD Export / import Technical and Business systems

    Dear all,
I am new to SLD administration.
We have task to update the local SLD on the Production PI system PPI ( Target ) with the business systems ZEC, ZSC from the Production Master SLD on Production solution manager system
PSM ( source ) using Export/Import on the necessary technical and business systems.
Please confirm whether i am following correct steps :
Go to SLD Administration on PPI target system
    ALL Instances
    Instances by Class
    Model
( which one of this option need to be selected , please let me know  ?? )
Go to SLD Administration on PSM source system.
    select Export button ->
Select business systems one by one and perform Export which will create .ZIP file
    at local machine.
Go to SLD Administration on PPI target system
    select Import button ->
Select Export ZIP file which created in previous steps from PSM and provide location from desktop
Start Import button ( only if you get Continue import option )
Please let me know if above procedure is correct for business systems
if yes then  what need to be done for Technical system ??...do they require Export/import also ?
If yes when i go to technical system option i get Export option disabled...but same way when i go to
business systems option i get Export button enable and able to perform the export.
Do i need to only Export / Import business systems ?
    Plese help me.
    Regards,
    RR

    Manoj,
It seems entries are added manually .... should we remove and run Import for the same ...
or just try to overwrite .... in case of overwrite option ( as we have open OSS message ) SAP has suggested through OSS message that If you end up with problems when trying to overwrite, then the PPI SLD is broken and will have to be re-built because someone made a manual change to it and got the GUIDs out of synch with the master.
I do not understand if target system PPI SLD gets broken during overwriting operation as mentioned by SAP ... whats is the way / steps / procedure to Re-build SLD .
In rebuilt - process do i need to Import ( Export -> Export lines -> ALL ) the export backup created before start of this activity ? please let me know SLD rebuilt steps and about Remove - reimport issue.
Appreciate you time on this. thanks in advance.

  • Creation of Technical and Business Systems

    HI Experts,
If I am having the one ECC, SAP 4.6C , Sap 4.7E, Mainframe , SQL Server systems,  to integrate  all these systems how we can maintain these in SLD.
Please Explain how many Technical Systems and Business Systems for these systems.
    thax

    Hi Sridhar
It is depend upon the type of the scenarios and your requirement.
There are a few basics you need to understand to be able to answer this.
1, Technical and Business Systems are of 3 types Java / ABAP and ThirdParty.
    2. When dealing with Java Proxies and Idocs/ ABAP Proxies, you need to create Technical and Business Systems corresponding to your SAP systems.
    3. For JDBC and SOAP etc, you can use a single Third Party Business System or , create multiple corresponding to each system you are integrtaing with you can use Business Service etc!
there are no hard and fast rules for JDBC , SOAP adapters and it all depends on how you are architecturally strucutring your SLD and your entire Integration landscape.
    Cheers..

  • About ABAP Technical Systems and Business Systems

    Hi experts,
I have an Integration scenary with XI and an R3 vía RFC. I've already created it in the development environment and when I'm going to transport to Consolidation and Production I find that the ABAP Business System related to the ABAP Technical System of the R3 have a different name from the development one.
In the Integration Repository everything its OK because my scenario is developped on a third party system BS and TS. The problem is in the Directory because of the BS of the Message interfaces....
I think that transport Directory  scenario with .tpt wont work. I'll probably have to develop it in each environment... What do you think?
    Regards
    Gonzalo

This is what you need to do to move from Dev to QA.
    1. Go to Dev SLD and Export all your SWCV, Products, Technical and Business Systems. This is nothing but saving of the SLD objects as a CIM file on your local machine. You would also need to export the Technical And Business System poitning to your XI integration server .
    2. Go to the QA SLD and then import these objects exported in Step 1 in QA SLD
    3. Now, create the QA Tech and Business Systems in the QA SLD
    4. Go to the Dev Business systems imported on the QS SLD and you will have an option Transport Targets. In this map the Source Business System to the Target Business Systems.
Make sure that all Dev Business Systems have the correspodning Transport Targets for the QA Business SYstems
    5. Now if you import the ID  objects in QA , the business systems name will be renamed automatically.

  • Technical Systems and Business Systems

    Hello Everybody!!!
I have some doubts, can you help me, please???
    1) Technical Systems are application(software) systems, ok? They aren't hardware systems, ok?
    2) In my SLD I should have a SAP ECC system as a technical system and each of their clients as a bussiness system, ok?
    3) For third-party systems, where the client concept doesn't exist, I should have one technical system and only one business system for my third-party system, ok?
    thanks a lot
    Julio

    hi  julio ,
ur view is correct  except in the technical system .
    1)   technical systems are the physically  located systems in which we can create only technical system for any physically  located system .
    2)   bussiness systems are logical  systems . according  to the type of technical  system we can  create the no of bussiness  systems .
technical system of type W AS ABAP  we can create multiple business systems as there is the concept of clients .
technical system of   third party   we can  not create more than  one business system  as there  is  no  matter  of  client .
    3)   so  for  every  third party  systems  only  one   business  system  will  be  there .
    some  important  points :.
atleast  one   business  system  will  be  there  on   any   system .
we  can   create   more  than  one   business   system  on  third  party systems .

  • Business System and Technical System ??

    Hi Experts,
Please tell, What is the Technical System and Business System. How many Technical and Busniess Systems do we have in XI ?
    Early responses are welcome.

    Hi,
    Business systems:
Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within PI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
    Web AS ABAP:
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of PI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
    Web AS Java:
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
    Standalone:
A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
    Third-party:
A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.
    Technical systems:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
    Web AS ABAP:
Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.
    Web AS Java:
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
    Standalone Java:
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon.
    Third-Party:
Third-party technical systems contain third-party software components and products.

    Prakasu

  • Use of Business Systems and Technical Systems

    Hi
What is the use of having business systems and technical systems in SAP XI. I don't see any configuration details needed to create these. I understand that it logically divides the interfaces into different business systems but is that the only use? The only place I see the real configuration done is in the adapter configuration.
    Vijay

    Vijay,
The technical system actually works better for our non-SAP systems than the SAP systems. Here is our scenario:
We have an AS400 business system that uses a file adapter to send files to XI and then uploaded to SAP ECC. The file adapter does not ask for the system information so we can switch between dev and test by changing the DNS address in the technical system entry (dynamic reference like a property file lookup). The communication channel settings do not have to change.
The receiver is SAP using an RFC adapter which requires the system ID, and client (hard coded).  Everytime we change clients, we have to change the settings in the RFC adapter. This is more to your point of why do we have a technical system if we have to provide the settings in the adapter as well. The RFC adapter should read the application server and client values from it's parent business system so the changes don't have to be made everytime we point to a new client( such as QA). This is irritating.
So maybe the theory is good but the implementation could be better in this case.
    Thanks,
    Troy

  • When I can reuse Business and Technical Systems in IR and ID

Assuming the case(1 scenario) when I already created All SLD object Business System , technical system, SWC and product for interface scenario when file is send from R/3 MM module(Outbound) to XI through File adapter and than mapped and send to 3 party partner via firewall ftp server... All SLD object exists and are created.
In a different scenario(2 Scenario) the 3 party partner will have to send via XI some MM related data and XI will have to feed this data into R/3 via different type adapter &#8211; this time Idoc adapter(Inbound)
    My questions are:
1)In 2 scenario - Can I use same already created 2 Business systems for both R/3 and 3 party partner or I need to create new ones?
Or at lease can use one of the business systems. With words &#8211; is the Business system dependable on type of adapter, inbound/outbound ?What is the criteria for reusing business system for second scenario?
2)In 2 scenario -Can I use same already created Technical systems for both R/3 and 3 party partner or I need to create new ones?
Same questions here...for technical system  -  can I reuse it  and when I need newone...
    Thanks all
    Regards
    Jon

    1. If u r posting data to the same R/3 with same client then u can use same WebAS ABAP Business System. U can use same third party business system for this.
The criteria for reuse is just that if the systems are same (in case of R/3 - the clients should be same), then u should reuse it.
2.Only 1 Technical system is created for one R3 system. This will be of type WebAS ABAP. So u will have to use same Technical system for both the scenario
For 3rd party case, u can use different technical system, but that would be redundant. So better to use one.

    Prateek

  • Technical and Business System

    Hi,
I need to create a business system called ERT which is a sap R/3 system.
As we are using XI 3.0, please do provide the steps.
Moreover, once we create the technical and business system, how do we actually test it without running an scenario.
    Regards
    Krish

    Guys,
I tried creating comparing with development environment.
The only problem i am facing is that when we click technical system landscape, you have a parameter called system home.
That one is highlighted in development environment whereas it is not in my environment.
While giving some details, i dont know where to give the IP address of the technical system name.
If some kind of weblog is there, would be really helpful.

  • XI Technical and Business System Definition For MDM 2.0

    Hi,
We're trying to define the XI technical and business system definitions for our MDM 2.0 installation to work with SRM 5.0 and PI 7.0.
In the documentation we have we can't find reference to what type of a technical and business system to define. Should they be abap/java/standalone/3rd party?
Does anyone have any install scripts of what they did?
    Regards,
    Jerry Martinek

You can set it as third party and it will work fine.  Because MDM isn't built on the wed application server like the majority of the netweaver apps, it's basically treated like a third party system as far as integration is concerned.  Hence you send and receive XML documents to PI and convert them into IDocs to send to R/3
Check the beginning of this document on creating the business and technical systems for MDM
