I've read a few articles such as this one:

I've tried sending messages to a couple of UK mobile numbers via the AIM app but I get an error message back saying:
Unable to send IM
+44xxxxxxxxxx is unable to receive offline messages.
From the instructions I've read about it, there doesn't seem to be a distinction between US cell numbers or other countries (such as UK).
I'm not sure if I'm adding the number in the right place in the buddy details, or whether there's another issue I'm not aware of.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or how to do this in the UK?

Yes, get 500 free texts but am a heavy texter and don't want to have to pay even more for O2's unlimited text bolt-on, so a free-text app would be useful (but maybe not realistic!)

Is there an API for sending an SMS from a Mac to a cellphone, similar to what iChat does

IIRC there are a few API's that tie in to their HTTP services for sending SMS. An old colleague had used http://sourceforge.net/projects/smstools/

I am a young IM and i have a big problem. Thank God i have identified the problem. Well, i pray someone will help me out here.
I need a way in which i can send bulk sms (in thousands) without any payment. I need it to promote my service in my region. I have the phone numbers in thousands already.
If you know any software that can enable internet to phone bulk sms sending without a fee. (I can afford to purchase the software if i won't pay any other fee to send the bulk sms). Kindly post me a reply here.
I came across many portals while google searching but, they seems to be fake. (I sent msg to my personal phone but it never delivered).
If you have a solution, kindly help me out.

There's not a good app for this ON the BlackBerry... for obvoius reasons (spam).
And free? Doubtful.
Personally, because of the obvious spam generated by software just as this, I hope it's all shut down, but that's my personal opinion.

There is no need to develope mobile application for
sending SMS from the PC.
n general, there are two ways to send SMS messages
from a computer / PC to a mobile phone:
Connect a mobile phone or GSM/GPRS modem to a
computer / PC. Then use the computer / PC and AT
commands to instruct the mobile phone or GSM/GPRS
modem to send SMS messages.
Connect the computer / PC to the SMS center (SMSC) or
SMS gateway of a wireless carrier or SMS service
provider. Then send SMS messages using a protocol /
interface supported by the SMSC or SMS gateway.I would like to know how do you set up the whole thing. What are AT commands and Where do i get thm and how do i use them. i am sorry for asking so many question but i am really interested in knowing this. I am doing my school project which requires me to send sms from my PC.

ive heard that sending text messages is free from a blackberry to another blackberry anywhere in the world, (without any internet) and regardless of any network sim iam using...... is it true? and also do let me knw whch if there is such service blackberry is offering which blackberry model should i buy?

No, this is absolutely not true, regarding SMS text messaging.
It IS true that you can use BlackBerry Messenger, for messaging from any BlackBerry to another, anywhere in the world, for free, but it DOES REQUIRE subscription to a BlackBerry Data Plan on your service provider account.

IPhone 4s. Wifi Free SMS

Can anyone suggest me a free app for Sending free SMS that Allows me to choose my own number. Since I don't have unlimited text in my plan.....

Apple Genius showed me how to fix this today!!!!! And it worked!
1. Back up iPhone as always (just in case)
2. Goto settings
3. Select Reset
4. Select Reset All Setting
NOTE: Your data all remains in tact, but you will need to reconfigure you iPhone (eg wallpaper, ringtone selection, mail signature etc as they will return to the defaults).
My iPhone 4S now has wifi and Bluetooth back!

Sending command to a mobile phone blugged into a pc to send an sms

i am new to this field, but i heard of "at command" that are helpful to control the mobile phone from a pc. And Java supports this...
this is the case:
1- a mobile with a valid sim card is connected via USB with the pc.
2- an application is running at the pc (java application)
on this application we need to add a module/class that sends command "at command" to our connected mobie with 2 parameters:
1- the phone number
2- the message
MyClass.sendViaMobile("+962795940824", "we want to inform you that u got the help :-)");what i need is how to start this, what do i need to know,and what api's i need to use

i found the rxtx api, but i got now a question,
how to connect to a usb port?
it seems that it is easy to deal with com port or serial port, but until this moment usb didnt work,
in my case, the mobile is connected via usb port.
this a code that uses the RXTX API, whaere do i need to modify to connect using usb?

Does anyone know that when everytime on the iMessage or Facetime, there will be an sms (global) send to Apple UK. I am charged by the local Service Provider for the global SMS.

You will be charged for an International SMS everytime you "ACTIVATE" iMessage or FaceTime service. Using iMessage and FaceTime thereafter is free. It informs you through a pop-up window stating this fact everytime you try to activate any of these services.

I am confuse to choose right technology for file sending?

i am working in medical transcription project in that we have to send and receive more doc file and voice file from various client (web client and desktop client).
i have three three technology which makes me confusion
1. RMI with NIO
2.servlet with URL class in client
3.SAAJ with attachment[i dont know much about this]
so please suggest me which is the right technology for file sending and receiving...the file may maximum 20 MB

It depends if you have a valid reason to use web services. If you are providing a web front end to your application for clients to use then you could just use a standard file upload procedure, I have used apache commons and it works well for this.
If your requirements indicate that a web service call is the answer as you have some system-to-system connectivity then I think you will need to use saaj and add the file as a SOAP attachment, as embedding 20MB of binary data into a string field on a standard SOAP message will probably cause the JVM to run out of memory.

It is a great difficult to find API for sending SMS messages....but i succeeded....for sending SMS messages there is a Class Calles SmsSender and use
sendSms(String mobileno, String message).....it will send message to the given mobile no...before i hope u have configured SMS Properties in Notification.properties file..
and Coming to receive SMS...there is one more Class SmsServer which listens to all the messages coming on the configured port..now you need to customize this class...

there is no official app for sharing pics with i device to i device but there is a rumour that you can do it from an app called ibluenova.
