Oracle assumes you can connect to the internet, a not unreasonable assumption these days, even if it means downloading to another computer then moving the zips around. Oracle also assumes you want to send all sorts of information over the internet to them from the database, an unreasonable assumption in my view.

Oracle Enterprise licence support and update policy

we are planning to buy a new oracle licence but do not want the update and support which is aditional cost...what i want to know is that is it mandatory to have the support and update ..

When you buy a licence, you are able to unchecked the support cost. So, stricto sensu it's not mandatory.
But in the facts, it should be mandatory for a production database to be able to get lastest patches and lastest patchsets to fixed some bugs in the initial release, and under some circumstances, to be able to raise SR and get help from the Oracle support.

I really doubt if that will do much good but certainly give it a try. However:
It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.
This may be of some interest to you: Life After MobileMe. And as a replacement for iWeb give Flux 3 a try. You can use it in demo mode for 30 days. If you do decide to try it view the video tutorials at their site and the 3rd party videos at YouTube. I found them to be very helpful.

@oracle team; forms server help desparately needed

my company is trying to migrate client machines to linux. our setup should be the following:
database <-> forms server <-> linux client with applet viewer
v9.2.....................v9i.................debian 3.0, j2sdk1.3
i am working on this setup for some months(!) now but i cannot get the clients to communicate stable with the rest of the setup.
problem: quite frequently the appletviewer will just hang and cause the forms server to create a
f90webm_dump_`$PID` file
in its working directory containing the following information:
[Mon Jan 20 21:58:29 2003 CET]::Client Status [ConnId=0, PID=10033]

the people working on the client machines are quite quickly inputting data into our databases. the appletviewer will hang more often on machines < 500 MHz but it also hangs on machines with more than 1.5 GHz and 512 MB DDR
i have literally tried everything:
i tried these java versions:
1.1, 1.3_x, 1.4.1 from sun, blackdown, ibm and even the one that came with the forms server on the clients
i tried to tune every setting on the forms server and in the jvm.cfg. i even tried to install the forms server on the clients so that i would have one tcp connection less to definitely exclude network failure as a possible reason.
i tried to use the PREEMPT_CLOSE setting, i even patched the kernels (low latency patch), analysed megabytes of debug logging, tried to strace the appletviewer to find WHY it keeps hanging!!!!
i tried to use different linux versions for best compatibility on the clients as well as on the forms server:
debian potato, woody, sarge, sid
suse 7.1, 7.2, 7.3
redhat 7.2, 7.3
i have read almost ALL documentation you could possibly read to find the reason of this problem.

PLEASE just tell me that you have even tested this product and that you know how to make it work in a stable way. we can even pay you money to give us the solution. we have been using oracle forms for 7 years now and we want to stick with it. but our clients HAVE to be able to run the linux OS.
i have posted this problem 2 or 3 times already but somehow either noone seems to read this or noone has ever tried to use a three tier setup with linux on the middle and the client tier.
as i said i have wasted MONTHS already trying to get this to work and i am out of ideas what could cause this.

sorry for not responding a few days, i didnt have the possibility to do so.
if you access and run the application from a Windows
client using JInitiator, what happens.i have tried that of course and it seemed to be stable. (no hang in about 2 and a half days). i dont think it is a problem on the forms server itself...maybe just some setting that doesnt cooperate well with the appletviewer.
Since we don't
certify Forms9i with appletviewer, we didn't test it
there.thats what i thought to be honest....since you say "we"; do you work for oracle?
So first thing to do is to check if the
problem is a client issue or a server side problem.seems more like a client proble to me though....somehow it looks like some deadlock or race condition, but im not a programmer so this could be a completely wrong impression.
If youi can, can you try a test on a Windows client?as i said b4, we tried that and it seemed to work finely but it was to test the server and ensure it isnt a complete misconfiguration issue :)

Overall I've seen worse but, you do have a major problem as I se it from looking at your code.
You FORGOT the USER. Seriously, the user is key. Tip Strips and Discriptions on EVERY user control or indicator is a must. Postition the FP so user controls are visable is a must.
I'm not "in love" with your queue handler but could se it on a larger project with a generic queue data type and a priority boolean. overkill for a CLD exam you only get 4 hours and yo need to document those controls and indicators.
Type defs- All have default icons (Break that habit now or you'll find something like this someday and be sorry)
There are a few developers I'd be tempted to shoot. It is a point on code reviews around here now.
Wired terminals not on root block diagram will get you dinged. do a search i've said it before.

Sum child list items and update parent total using javascript

I have a SharePoint 2010 Parent/Child list setup using a lookup field to join both the lists, this is working well.
The Parent list contains requisition requests and the child list contains related item details. Each of the related child list items has a 'Line Item Total' field. I need to aggregate the Line Item Totals in the child list and place the result in a 'Requisition
Total' in the parent. So for any given parent record the sum of it's related child 'Line Item Totals' is reflected in the 'Requisition' total in the parent row.
I am struggling with the JavaScript code below. I am trying to aggregate Line Item Totals for a given Requisition#? Could someone please review and advise?

I do something similar for a PO Header/PO Detail set of lists. I use SPServices to pull the data.
I put this code in the child edit page - so any time any child is edited, the parent is updated. I get all children records and total them up (except for the item I'm displaying at the current time. I add that value in directly from the form itself.

- Backup incremental level 0 on every Sunday
- Backup incremental level 1 on other days.
My database is Oracle Enterprise 11gR2 - Linux amd64
The backup task scheduled with crontab on Linux CentOS 5.3. My RMAN commands are bellow. Please help me to review and show any risks may happen with my strategy.

It might be similiar to the way Amazon does it - if you set the eBook price higher at one store than every other store, that store has the right to lower the price and collect the lower price for it (price matching).
So you sell your book at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Apple.
At Amazon it's $5.
At Barnes and Noble it's $5.
At Apple it's $10.
Apple has the right to lower the price to $5 and collect the commission on $5 and only remit you your commission on the $5.
That's my GUESS. I don't actually know, I just know what's how Amazon does it.

First, if you don't already have a current backup, back up all data immediately.
When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I have an Apple ID and trying to sign in for the 1st time on iTunes. When I do, I get the message: "This Apple ID has not been used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information." When I do, I get stuck in the same loop and can't sign in!

The cause: It is now clear what caused this problem. For years I had several “all-day” events in my Outlook calendar (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). In May 2012 I decided to make some of them one hour events so I could add alerts to remind me of the event. I did this by dragging them in Outlook to the time I wanted and expanding them to the time slot desired and then adding the alarm.
The symptom: Syncing stopped working for the calendar but continued working for contacts and notes. I didn’t realize sync was failing until months later when I missed two very important phone calls, so when I noticed it the cause was not obvious.
The failed attempts: I’m head of a software firm and my calendar sync is a crucial to my business life so I took this on with a vengeance. From a quick look at events in Outlook and the iPhone I could see that the problem started in May 2012. Events before May were in both Outlook and the iPhone but events after May were only one or the other. Unfortunately I had changed several other things at the same time relating to other events so again the cause was not obvious. MANY calls with AppleCare proved them incompetent so my internal IT guys assisted trying many things. We tried a huge number of calendar changes and several versions of iTunes, iPhone OS and Office as well as both iPhone 4 and 5, all without success.
The fix: After 18 months of frustration, MANY hundreds of $ expense and MANY hours of wasted time I saw a blog that had a calendar sync problem and it indicated all day events were related. I changed the display of the Outlook calendar to the list view, added columns so I could see “all day” event check marks as well as times of events, sorted on the “all day” event column to move them to the top, and for all events that were “all day” events AND had a start and end time, I removed recurrence and then added the annual recurrence back…
After I fixed all events that had BOTH “all day” set and had a start/end time, I tried another sync. It synced for the first time in 18 months!

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders

Trying to sign in to itunes store via windows xp...get to id and pwd and then it says "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the itunes store...please review acct. info" Well how can I use it if you don't let me log in!?

HELP! I have cleared DNS, checked proper date & time and deleted SC folder from programs like support suggested--all to no avail.

The first part of the error is true - I haven't used the AppleID with the iTunes store.

received the upgrade code using this same AppleID, so I don't think I can use a different AppleID.

It's clearly not a cookie issue..
As for cookies. Quit the App Store. Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder.
Type this exactly as you see it here: ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go the move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store.
