TechTool Pro 4 on iMac having troubles
Run and love TechTool Pro 4 on my B&W G3 tower. However I'm having troubles with it on my iMac G3 700 Mhz. It will not let me create an eDrive, it says to run the Tests, which I have done to no avail, (it has a code (???) next to that prompt, (14), but I don't know what 14 means).
Also, I could turn off journaling on my B&W through Techtool in order to defrag the disks, which when it was done, I could turn back on. On the iMac, it will not allow me to turn journaling off. When I click on the box next to the volume to disable journaling, I get a pop-down window that says it's updating or something, and then the box rechecks itself, effectively preventing me from defrag-ing it. I don't understand what the difference would be, except that on my B&W I am running the program from the eDrive, while on the iMac, since it won't allow me to create an eDrive, I'm running the program from the CD. Any help would be appreciated, (Techtools website certainly was not a help). Thanks!

just got my MacBook Pro and I'm having trouble opening up certain websites, it just keeps scrolling and scrolling and never opens up the page....this is not the case with all websites, however my 7 year old desk top - which is connected to the same wireless Internet connection opened up the same page right away, so I don't think it's the Internet, any suggestions?
Use Software Update to update your os and anything else that needs to be updated. Repair permissions and restart your computer when done.
Not sure if your new Mac came with 10.7.2 pre-installed as you make no mention of your os system. -
Imac having trouble with startup
My iMac is currently having issues starting up. When I press the power button it will boot up and take me to a gray screen. Once it's at the gray screen a loading bar appears. At that time, the computer shuts back down. I've been able to startup and go to disk utility but that has been no help. When verifying the disk, the messages "invalid key length" and "the volume macintosh HD could not be verified completely" appear. Any ideas?

Help! I received a Macbook Pro for Christmas and can not stay contect to my internet....
My provider is Hughsnet. Is something not set right?? I can conect but after open a couple of windows/tabs it degrades my
internet conection. I have a call into Apple Tech for tomorrow but was wondering if anyone else is having a problem like this.
ThanksUse the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps. -
IMac having trouble finding ISP.
iMac (10.7.4) is too often slow in connecting to a link. About half the time, it is in "connecting" mode until it times out. I get a "Can't find the page" window. If I run System Preferences Diagnostic Assistance, I can see that there are three green lights on top, but it is getting hung up on ISP, which is red lit. I go through the process of selecting a network, after which I see the wi-fi reset itself. It very quickly and temporarily goes to a panel saying "No IP Address" and then pops back to "wi-fi connected". At that point, if I click on "Try Again", it will work successfully.
It MUST be the correct IP address or it would not successfully find it the second time. I do not understand why it is failing so often, nor what to do about it. Suggestions?

Just bought a new iMac - having trouble migrating
I have a brand new iMac, upgraded it to Yosemite. Old iMac is also running Yosemite.
I ran the migration assistant; successfully; I thought and my pictures, music, and documents are not there.
I did cancel and restart the migration assistant a couple of times. The applications did come across just fine, it looks.
So I am thinking about deleting the user accounts and remigrating just the user accounts, because I don't think I want to
migrate the applications again. I am frustrated. I am afraid I am really going to screw up this new computer.
I have a time machine backup on the older computer. I guess my question is: If I delete the user accounts from the new computer and
remigrate the accounts is there any chance it will work and not mess up the application migration that I appear to have successfully done.I found that this was caused by documents with names that started with an apostrophe. When I renamed them and reran the migration assistant, it went great.

Why is my pro blacking out and having trouble restarting itself?
For some odd reason, my pro which is only about a month old keeps blacking out. I already checked on the automated sleep and it is not that. The screen will just randomly turn black even when in use. I tried pressing buttons, esc, spacebar, and even turning it off. It also has issues turning off. When i finally get it to turn off and try to restart it, it lights up but then the CD drive makes a noise like theres a disc in it even though there is not. I tried ejecting it even though there is nothing in there and the screen goes black. I am at a loss as to what to do here. Please help! Thanks.

Retina Macbook Pro Having Trouble Connecting To Wifi?
Hi, I have a TP Link router with a 2013 2 TB time capusle connected to it.
And My macbook pro seems to be having trouble connecting to the TP Link's network, My 5GHz network on my time capusle, and my normal 2.4GHz network on my time capusle.
When I try connecting to a network it says connecting for about 30 seconds and then comes up with a exclamation mark "!" symbol.
It will randomly start connecting and working, then maybe 10,15 minutes later it drops out for a few hours again. Im not sure what's going on.
P.S Averything else will connect (Macbook air, iPhone 5s, My iMac, My iPad mini ect.

James.When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, restart the computer and try again. If there's no change, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test. -

No. Your CNAME setting is not correct. The CNAME and web.me.com are correct with web.me.com being your host. However, your domain name is incorrect - don't understand why you have put mobileme before it? You just enter either your domain name on its own so domain.com or you need to set up two separate CNAME entries, one being for www, CNAME, web.me.com and then one being @, CNAME, web.me.com. The @ stands for your domain name and the www is your sub domain.
Try altering this and it should work okay. -

Having trouble charging the battery
I have a 15 inch Mackbook Pro that I am having trouble getting the battery to charge. I tried resetting the PMU and it still is having problems. I can leave the computer charging all night while it is off and in the morning I'll still only have a 50 percent charge. Do I need a new battery?
as suggested, make sure you try a re-calibration first. If that doesn't work go here:

Make sure you install the battery update first and proceed from there.
there are known issues with certain older MBP batteries -AND-, important to note, Applecare and warranty are irrelevant. They will replace the battery if it meets the criteria on the above site.. period.
I just had mine replaced on an over 2 year old MBP 2.0 with no Applecare.

I have installed OS X Mavericks on macbook pro, macbook air & iMac but I am having terrible trouble with apple Mail. I need to take all accounts online frequently OR worse I have to quit mail and restart computer. Is anyone else having problems?
I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As". So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail. I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Here's what I know:
The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update. None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them. This is maddening! What can be done? Apple?? Anyone??? -
I am having trouble with my IMac 27 2006
I am having trouble with my IMac 27 2006 start up OK will run however picture stops, scattered all over screen shutters and then sometimes freezes. Can I reinstall OSX? Or is there a program that dose Fixes?
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update. -
I'm having trouble connecting my Intel iMac with the internet using wifi router
I'm having trouble configuring my iMac to accept a connection with my Telstra Elite mobile broadband Wifi router.
The iMac's Wifi is turned on and the elite router is selected in the Wifi list with a tick.
The router is turned on, and connected to the internet.
I'm able to surf the net and collect emails using my MacBook Pro ( what I'm using now) and my iPad with no hassles by connecting them to the Telstra Elite Wifi router. But I'm unable as yet to get a connection using the iMac.
The Telstra router accepts up to 5 simultaneous connections.
At present the display on the router says that three devices are connected. They being the iPad, the MacBook Pro and the iMac.
Can anyone help me out?

I have IMac OSX 10.9.4, 4GB,Processor 3.06 with Intell2Duo. I would like to check for Malware. I run a TechTool Pro 6 every month and that comes up great.
When check how much memory I am using, with only Safari open I am using 3.9 and more of her 4.0 memory. She is very. very slow in processing. I had 4000
trash to clean out and it took her over an hour to expel. Also for some reason Safari will not allow me to click on a link, in my G-mail, and let it go to the page.
It has a sign saying a pop-up blocker is on and will not let me do it. I must open the stamp to look at my e-mails and if I have redirected link now I can do it.
I have not changed my preferences so where is this pop-up blocker?
I have looked at preferences on Safari and Google, which I do not understand Google, and do not see where this blocker could be.
Malware is something I want to make sure is not on my computer. Tech Tool Pro 6 is all I know of and it does not detect Malware.
