TechTool scan failure

I recently ran a techTool scan. The Format Check, the Directory Scan, and the volume structure "failed". What is my next step to repair?

Boot to your recovery partition (OS X 10.7 or 10.8) or to an external hard drive or OS X DVD, and run Disk Utility to do a repair your internal disk. (You didn't say if you are using TechTool Deluxe or Pro).
If that fails, then many use Disk Warrior to repair the hard drive, which works for many non-hardware-related issues.  TechTool Pro can do similar repairs.
To get a second opinion on your hard drive, download SMART Utility.
PS. You do have a backup already?

  • Scan Failure on the 7520

    To Garytech1:  I am having the same problem with scan failure that you discussed earlier.  You inboxed everyone the solution.  Please inbox me.  I have tried everything else.

    Your post happened to be a new thread, so I am unsure of which post you were responding to.
    I would suggest trying the steps in this guide for the Scanner Failure, and if you have tried them all, to contact HP directly to see about a replacement or trade in.

  • Mac pro 13'' harddisk makes noises when writing and reading data, but Techtool scanning result shows no bad blocks in the disk, that is normal?

    I bought my Mac pro 13 inch, i7 processor and 750G storage 20th November 2012. But I found when copy into or out the Mac, the harddisk makes noises, like bitting something. I thought there are bad blocks in the disk, but the result of Techtool scanning is no bad blocks in disk, and giving a passed conclusion.
    I went the apple store for testing, and the repairmen told me there are two choices available for me:1) replace the harddisk 2) back to the store i bought machine from for a new one. i think that the machine only bought few days, it had better not be disassembled, so i went back for a new one. unfortunately, the new one makes more noises than my old one. i don't know why like apple named brands notebooks have such problems.  did you undergo this experience ?

    All of the HDDs, be they in my MBPs or enclosures are barely audible.  I would say the you deserve no less.  I suggest that you do not leave until you are satisfied with a near silent HDD.
    Why you got two in a row is a puzzle, but then some people beat the odds and win the lottery.  In your case the results are not exactly positive.  All HDDs eventually fail, and some fail sooner than others.  At least you should start with a quiet one.

  • X476dw Scan Failure on Large Documents

    Brand new purchase and so far I really like the quality and print time.  The scan time m/l is acceptable.  Way better than my high dollar Xerox that was replaced.
    So, I can scan small documents to my email with no issue.  When I scan an 18 page document, I get server failure.  I have gone thru all the tests, scan doctor and updated firmware and no luck.
    Please Advise and thank you for your time.

    1. Are you using HP Scan driver to perform the scan ?
    If no, you might want to consider install it and try using it.
    If yes, try update to the latest version.
    2. What is your PC Operating System?
    You might want to consider windows update to get latest patch fixes.
    3. What are the file formats you are tying to scan in, eg. *.tiff, *.jpg, *.pdf ?
    Usually, *.tiff files will require larger memory for scanning and storing into your PC system.
    Checked that you have enough memory in the system.

    As part of my business' PCI compliance regime, we are regularly scanned for vulnerabilities.  Today we started getting notifications of failure on all of the QuickVPN ports (443, 60443) for the following:

    Multiple vendors TLS protocol implementations are prone to a security vulnerability related to the session-renegotiation process which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to insert data into HTTPS sessions,
    and possibly other types of sessions protected by TLS or SSL, by sending an unauthenticated request that is processed retroactively by a server in a post-renegotiation context.
    Cisco, will you be issuing a firmware update to address this anytime in the near future?  Presumably it effects all the other RV routers as well.

    I did a scan against the RV042G looking for which methods it can negotiate at for the SSL/TLS connections and some of them are below 256bits.  At this time I am not aware of any plans to change this.  However, if you were to open a case with Cisco Small Business by calling 1-866-606-1866 we could open a service request based on the PCI issues you are seeing and request development to look further into SSL/TLS negotiation process.  Be sure to let the engineer you speak know about this forum post.

  • Hardware Scan Failure using Lenovo Solution Center G580

    I have a G580 Laptop, it's lessa than a year old now.
    I use both Hard Disk Sentinel (HDS) and Lenovo Solution Center (LSC).
    HDS showed an alert that one weak sector has been found.
    LSC gave this result code after the hardware scan WHD01V00I-HJ9C1E, it failed the "Targeted read test" and "SMART short self-test". How can I fix these problems and what do they mean?

    Smart Tests are critical for the HDD Performance and functionality.
      I would suggest running another test using HDTune

  • WLSE AP Radio Scan Failure

    I finally got the WLSE talking with all of my access points. The WLSE is able to discover all of the access points, so I believe that means that SNMP is working properly.
    However, now I'm trying to perform an AP Radio Scan. When I do, I get this error message:
    ERROR: AP not SNMP accessible - removing interface xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx from AP Radio Scan participation
    ERROR: No APs are available to particpate - ending AP Scan.
    I get this for all of the access points.
    Why would this be happening?

    Other possible causes:
    - AP not SNMP Reachable from WLSE. To verify, use the SNMP Reachable Test in WLSE Administration screen. If the AP have multiple radio interfaces and if any one of them is down, then this will also cause problems while doing the scan.
    - AP do not have the iso view tied to the RW community string.

  • Photosmart 6525 scan failure

    Printer will print documents, letters, etc from computer.    If I attempt to scan and copy a document, printer will not scan and then proceed to copy document.     Have tried 'scan doctor', but an error message that it could not access the scan driver occurred.   The printer has worked well  - I've used it for a couple of years without problems until this past month.  I've unistalled the printer software and reinstalled it without any success in correcting the problem.     Any other ideas to try???

    Just to clarify, I understand you can not scan, but can you copy? Do you get error message when you try to scan or copy?
    While I wait to hear back from you. let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.

  • Another WMI Scan Failure Thread... Please help!

    Hi guys,I seem to have pretty inconsistent Spiceworks scan success when adding new machines to our domain. I'm dealing with a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1 currently, and I can't for the life of me seem to get SW to scan it.I've been digging through WMI EventVwr logs all morning and can only find the following useful info:XML-

    Actually, for Premiere Pro CS2 this is not uncommon. The Canon  XL1 and GL1 cameras in particular had this problem. If you check the properties of the captured clip, you'll see that the clip frame rate is being reported as 29.96 FPS instead of the correct 29.97 FPS. Theis means the audio will get progressively out of sync with the video. It becomes really noticable after about 11 minutes. The problem is related to a non-standard audio sample rate created by the camera. Instead of being 48000 Hz, it is actually 48048Hz. This was a known problem with some older Canon cameras. Your best solution is to upgrade to CS4. Adobe corrects for this problem by creating conformed audio files. This essentially resamples the audio at the correct 48000Hz and eliminates the problem. If you search the Adobe knowledge base for "29.96" you should find a tech doc on this.
    ...Or, you could just buy a new camera.

  • HP1536 scan failure - WIA error

    We have problems with HP LaserJet 1536dnf scanner.
    Up to 2 days ago, print and scan works great.
    Now, print is working, but scan does not.
    Running HP scan doctor, we got error with WIA.
    We have tested the same Printer in a different PC, and both print and scan works.
    Attempts to solve:
    - use usb instead of network: not working;
    - firmware update;
    - uninstall & reinstall HP software, both full and basic, several times;
    - uninstall antivirus (SEP);
    - disabled windows firewall;
    - reinstall .net framework;
    - created new windows user profile;
    - wia, rpc and shell hardware detection services in automatic mode;
    - sfc /scannow: no errors;
    Trying another software (Vuescan), scan work.
    Any suggestion?

    I understand that you can print but not scan with your HP Laserjet pro 1536dnf printer on Windows 7. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help you with your scanning issue!
    Thank you for the break down of what you have done already, I appreciate it!
    It is possible that the (Vuescan) software is not using the Wia interface, which could explain why it works, and the other software does not.
    Please see this guide, How to Scan: Windows 7. Select How to scan without HP software, select How to scan with Paint, and let me know if it works or not. This will test the Wia interface directly from the Operating System.
    Once I know what happens, I will look into this further for you!

  • Scan failure

    i've tried scanning a couple of different ways on my mac and envy d410. all i get is a black image with colored lines down one side.
     any advice? thanks.

    I have a very similar problem on our Officejet 7612, alhtough instead of black we can get a partial image.
    p.s. tried running the update software (the machine is brand new) and the Print and Scan Doctor, but it didn't help.

  • Scan failure error codes

    Computer is a Media center m495c running win 7; Printer is Photosmart C6150 all in one. Scaner is Scanjet G4050.  Everything was working fine then it stopped scanning documents to PDF. Off loaded all Photosmart and Scanner software and reloaded just the Photosmart C6150 software. The scanning software appears to scan but when the preview window comes up  the process freezes I get msg that states 1) retry the scan, if that does not work 2) relaod the scan software and if that does not work 3) reboot the computer.
    The error msg at the bottom of the page is 4,[(3,42,0)]
    Anybody got any ideas? I have reload the Photosmart software multiple times

    The green button pn my HPOfficejet 4500 does not work.  I can print from my computer and print a printer satus report from my printer but cannot print, scan or anything else from my printer.

  • Scanning failure HPDD547B

    My all in one Photosmart Plus has just decided to deny me my scanning facility. Still prints though, all wireless. When I choose the scan icon it advises that it isn't connected? How can the device still work wireless as a printer (clearly it is still connected) but fail as a scanner. It has al worked fine since I bought it 5 months ago?
