Teclado nuevo Thinkpad x220 latinoamericano

    Magnus, welcome to the forum,
acording to the MTM your system has an i-7 CPU, it should therefore have USB 3.0. Please try installing the system and ensure you only use the USB 2.0 ports.
    Hope this helps

  • BSOD when installing Windows XP on ThinkPad x220

    Hi,
I have just bought a ThinkPad x220 (4293-AA6) with no OS installed. I am trying to install Windows XP (32-bit), but have not yet been successful.
I have carefully followed section in the User Guide called "Installing Windows XP", but this has not worked for me. In summary, the procedure I followed was:
In BIOS, set "Serial ATA (SATA)" to "AHCI",
Set "UEFI/Legacy Boot" to "Both" or "Legacy Only" (makes no difference to my problem)
Boot from Win XP SP2 CD
Press F6 when prompted, put the Lenovo "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver drivers" in floppy drive, and select "Intel MobileExpress Chipset SATA AHCI Controller". Drivers were extracted from this file: this file
    Continue the installation
The result is a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) just after the setup screen says "Setup is starting Windows", with the error message:
    "STOP: 0x0000007B (0xf78d2524,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)"
    Other things I have tried:
Followed the alternative procedure outlined in the User Guide, under "If you do not have a diskette drive..."
Updated the BIOS from 1.15 to 1.17
Ran memtest86+ (resulted in no errors)
Tried the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver" from the Intel website rather than the Lenovo website
Selected the "Intel 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" instead of the other one when installing the drivers
Tried using a WinXP SP3 CD instead of SP2
    Formatted the disk using diskpart
Installed Ubuntu 11.04 to the harddrive (successfully!!) then tried installing Windows XP again
But I always get the same BSOD.
I have also tried installing Windows 7 (64-bit), which also failed! It booted into the installation program, but then it stopped and said it couldn't find a driver for a CD/DVD drive. After installing the appropriate 64-bit Lenovo IRST driver and rebooting, this resulted in the following Blue Screen of Death: "STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003,..."
Is anyone able to help me with getting Windows (XP or even 7) installed? Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, and I'm happy to provide more information/tests if needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Roy

Oh, perhaps I should emphasise that this X220 model comes with the "160GB Solid State Drive". Perhaps that needs a different driver or something...??
SSDs are Advanced Format disks, which XP does not know anything about.  Please read the white paper which can be found here.....

  • Thinkpad X220: bad wlan connection when docked and lid closed

    Dear forum
I use a Lenovo ThinkPad X220. I have no trouble with the wlan connection when i use the notebook alone. The wlan connection is also stable when i use the notebook plugged in the dockingstation with the lid open. But when I use the notebook plugged in the dockingstation with the lid closed my wlan connection drops regularely to about 2 Mbps and gets very unstable.
The ThinkPad uses the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wlan network controller:
    $ lspci | grep 6205
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 [Taylor Peak] (rev 34)
The network controller uses the iwlwifi driver, that comes with the current linux-firmware package:
    $ pacman -Ss linux-firmware
    core/linux-firmware 20150206.17657c3-1 [Installiert]
    Firmware files for Linux
I didn't change any options of the kernel module, everything runs in default mode:
    $ modinfo -p iwlwifi
swcrypto:using crypto in software (default 0 [hardware]) (int)
11n_disable:disable 11n functionality, bitmap: 1: full, 2: disable agg TX, 4: disable agg RX, 8 enable agg TX (uint)
    amsdu_size_8K:enable 8K amsdu size (default 0) (int)
fw_restart:restart firmware in case of error (default true) (bool)
antenna_coupling:specify antenna coupling in dB (default: 0 dB) (int)
wd_disable:Disable stuck queue watchdog timer 0=system default, 1=disable (default: 1) (int)
    nvm_file:NVM file name (charp)
    uapsd_disable:disable U-APSD functionality (default: Y) (bool)
    bt_coex_active:enable wifi/bt co-exist (default: enable) (bool)
    led_mode:0=system default, 1=On(RF On)/Off(RF Off), 2=blinking, 3=Off (default: 0) (int)
power_save:enable WiFi power management (default: disable) (bool)
    power_level:default power save level (range from 1 - 5, default: 1) (int)
fw_monitor:firmware monitor - to debug FW (default: false - needs lots of memory) (bool)
At first I thought, the problem could be caused by the KDE power saving settings. I changed the settings, so nothing happens when I close the lid (no hibbernation or screen lock or something like that), but without success (the wlan connection is still unstable under the described circumstances).
Also dmesg shows nothing that points out a problem (as far as I can see):

  • ThinkPad X220 UltraNav Settings Keep Resetting to Default on Reboot

    Hello,
I use a ThinkPad X220 and until the last week I barely had any problem with it.  The UltraNav driver settings did occasionally reset themselves in the past, but that was only when I updated the driver or used Windows Update.  Since last week, however, I found the settings reset every time I shut down my computer.
I checked the solutions on other threads (which normally pertained to other systems), but to no avail.  I even tried installing the Synaptics driver instead of the UltraNav driver, but I encountered the same problem: the settings kept resetting for the other driver the same way it did the Ultranav.
I updated all the drivers for the machine as of this morning, and still there is no difference.
Could anyone help me out here?  I am unable to use the TrackPoint unless it is set at its lightest touch, and it is quite inconvenient to have the settings reset every time I boot up the computer.

I assume you are using Audigy 2 something, it has a terrible tendency to forget setting (not just THX) to date there is no sure fire fix. It just appears to be poor software which seems to conflict with most everything. In the soundblster forum this is a common problem.

  • [SOLVED (Arch is a great community)] Thinkpad x220 does not power off

My thinkpad x220 does not power off, it goes through the whole shutdown process as expected until reaching the last step where it displays "> POWER OFF" and just sits there until the battery is empty or I force the power off by using the power button.
I don't know what's wrong or where to start looking for clues.
The same happens when rebooting, it displays "> REBOOTING" and sits there.
Occasionally on reboot attempts I have additional messages from iwlwifi:

This is what you're looking for : https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33872
I've had this issue before, also on my X220. The solution was to remove the e1000e driver before shutdown. I've placed a command that does something like "rmmod e1000e" in a configuration file that runs it on shutdown, and it fixed the problem. I forget where this file is though... Hopefully someone else can fill the gap =]

  • Looking for US keyboard for ThinkPad X220

    Hi,
I bought a ThinkPad X220 with a Swiss keyboard, but I'd like to replace it with a "standard" US keyboard.
Can anyone help me confirm the part number, and perhaps suggest where to get one? I presume it's easy enough to replace, according to the instructions in the User Guide...
I did look on the Lenovo site under "Accessories" but of course they only list USB keyboards there.
    Thanks in advance!

i've used all three on various models (T400s, T410s, W510, X220, external USB trackpoint keyboard, etc.) and personally prefer 45N2211.   it's the quietest of all three and feels the closest to older thinkpads.   if you prefer a more "clicky" keyboard then look for 45N2071.   of the one 45N2141 i tried, i didn't like the click of the mouse buttons as much.   however, this could have been a sample variation.
there is no best choice here though since everyone's preferences are different.   i've heard and read about an equal amount of praise and complaints surrounding each of the three manufacturers (NMB, chicony, and alps) and cannot say which you would like the most.
if you like what you have now in terms of feel, find out what FRU number you have and find the corresponding number in a US keyboard.   the chart you want can be found here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-77194   lead_org's link above goes to a driver page rather than this one.

I have run into a situation where a Thinkpad X220 laptop is docked and the video, usb, etc. ports all work normally, but the optical drive is not powered on or detected (at BIOS or in Windows). • ThinkPad X220 battery problem

Hi, I own a 2 year old ThinkPad X220. Till a few days ago, I used to get 3 hours battery backup on my laptop. A couple of days ago, my laptop battery dropped to 5% very soon. Then, it would charge upto 100% in 15 miinutes. I tried to do a battery gauge reset using Lenovo power management tool. Since then, my battery has been on 0%. I tried to do the trick of removing battery and AC power and pressing the power button for 10 seconds, but it didn't work.Since my laptop runs fine on AC, I dont think it is the fault of the power cord. Also, I run a dual boot with Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 7, so it is unlikely to be an OS problem. Now, when I plug in the AC adapter with battery, the charging light falshes green thrice and after about 5-6 seconds, it flashes orange twice and green once, after which the light goes off.Is my battery really dead or is it my system's fault? Please advise me what to do.Thanks in advance for the help.

    1. What does Lenovo Power Manager say about battery health, status?
    2. What value of the count cycles does the battery have (PM shows in the battery tab)?

  • BUG: RapidBoot uninstall screwed up Windows 7 on ThinkPad X220

Since my X220 boots as fast without RapidBoot as it does with factory-installed RapidBoot,
and is more usable more quickly without RapidBoot, I decided to leave RapidBoot uninstalled.
Since then I've noticed that some important Windows services, most notably Windows Update,
were not working, and found that they were Disabled.
While I can't say for sure, I have a strong suspicion that RapidBoot disables these services so
it can start them itself, and that the installer for RapidBoot failed to restore standard behavior
of these services when uninstalling RapidBoot. If true, I think it a serious bug that should be
    promptly fixed.
Caveat: I was using the factory-installed version of RapidBoot, not the 1.11 update recently
1.11 update recentlyreleased, so I don't know if this issue is addressed in 1.11 or not.
    Hope that helps,

perhaps you might try installing version 1.11, testing, then uninstalling it to recover any incorrectly-set services.

  • Unable to connect to internet on Thinkpad x220

I had purchased a new X220 thinkpad with i5 processor which runs with Windows-7 Professional 32 bit, last week.
The problem is that I am unable to connect to the internet through Dial-up with wireless USB modem. The modem is installed very well, but when the web page is being opened, it was throwing an error as "It has hung up dialup connection" and immediately the connection fails and it gets disconnected. The modem is very well compatible with the Windows-7 32-bit as per the internet service providers and when I reported the error, they notified me the connection is being blocked/hung. I tried with different service providers, the problem is same with all.
Please do help me in resolving if any one had any idea.
    Thanks,
    DT

    1. Firstly, be sure device drivers are installed correctly. Insert USB modem to USB 2.0 port on the left side of laptop. Look at the Device Manager, select "View" menu tab (I'm sorry since I have OS with GUI not in English), select "Devices by connection", open "ACPI x64..", "Microsoft ACPI...", "PCI bus", find out your modem devices within one of the "Intel ... Enhanced USB Controller" (it depends on the USB port you've inserted modem).
You should see all logical relevant devices. Post them here.
    2. Pess Fn+F5. Do you see "Mobile Broadband" option? If YES turn on it.
    3. Look at the tray icons, find out one with vertical bars. Look at it. With sim card inserted you should see the name of your cellular carrier.
Next steps will depend on the results.

  • Thinkpad X220 X230 wake from sleep issues??

I am looking to buy either an X220 or X230 Thinkpad laptop and have been reading the forums here for information about wake from sleep issues for these two machines. I have found a lot on the X220 - seems to be a common problem, so I am now thinking that isn't going to be my choice.
My questions for those who may have experienced this with an X230:
-is the wake from sleep a common issue with the X230 laptop?
-is this more of a SSD issue than a regular HHD?
-is this related to the amount of RAM installed?
-is this more of a Win 7 issue? If so, any version that is more susceptible?
I had an HP laptop that finally was unusable due to this issue and want to avoid that with a new laptop. I really like the features and size of the x230 - and that I can still get Win 7.
Any input on how often the X230 has this type of issue - and any solutions that have worked - would be greatly appreciated, as I really am reluctant to have history repeated with this wake from sleep issue.
    Thanks!
    HL

I've got a similar problem. For years, and through many OS & security updates, before going to bed I've been setting both Energy Saver settings to 3 minutes and then rebooting. The computer slept nicely until I hit "Return" in the morning. Lately hitting Return only wakes it up after the first night, the second reboot reacts in a couple of ways:
    1. The computer won't sleep, but the USB shuts off.
    2. The following morning the computer wakes up but the USB and the monitor doesn't.
The only way to deal with this is to hold the power button down until the machine shuts down. Clearly, something is not right. The Mac needs to be shut down after only one reboot. If it's not shut down it won't sleep.

  • 'overclocking' on Thinkpad X220

Before I get flamed, I'd rather boil it down...
I received my X220, with i5-2520M, that is PLENTY powerful
    Then I ripped out the 2x 4GB ram and installed 2x 8GB PC12800 (800Mhz) ram, thats DDR3-1600
Next step is getting a 256GB SSD in there, but for now back to the ram...
I am confident that without using more voltage, and without making any faults I can do DDR3-1866.
The bandwidth is likely to be boosted by ~12% of doing so, and that I would appreciate.
So my question is this; Any advice on how to adjust the ram for my X220?? There isnt any settings in BIOS, they just used XMP, do I really have to flash the XMP on the ram?

    Hello,
One suggestion I would have is to monitor the temperature of the system very carefully--you may even want to invest in some kind of non-contact thermometer if you have not done so already.  Unlike their desktop brethren, notebook computers are manufactured with slimmer thermal tolerances for waste heat, and although ThinkPad's have good cooling systems, I rather doubt they are designed with overclocking in mind.
I didn't see any mention of whether this was a new or a used X220, so you might also want to reapply a high-quality thermal paste to the heatsink (Arctic Silver 5 or something similar) as well as verify the fan is operating perfectly and airflow inside the chassis is not obstructured by any dust or debris in case the model has been in use for a while.

  • Using extended desktop mode with ThinkPad x220

I have an Acer AL2216W external monitor. It has a resolution of 1680 x 1050
    http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/monitor/0000/Acer/AL2216W/AL2216Wsp2.shtml
When I use extended desktop mode with the external monitor set as the primary display, everything scales properly on both the external and internal monitor.
However, if I set the internal monitor as the primary display, the external display does not fill the screen (there is a big black border around the desktop).
In both cases, the resolution setting for the external monitor is 1680 x 1050.
    Is this normal behaviour?

    Hello,
That's how Windows behaves.  Supposedly Realtime Soft Ltd.'s UltraMon gives you more precise control over wallpaper under Windows, but I have not used it myself.
