Tecra 520 CDT battery charging

Now I have two TECRA 520 CDT machines which will not charge their battery.
The batteries are in good condition (one new) and can be charged on another 520 CDT machine using the same charger, after which the "dead" machine will run and the charger maintain the battery.
Can this problem be repaired, and if so by whom?

Hi
> Can this problem be repaired, and if so by whom
If you are 100% sure that this issue is not related to the faulty battery then this must be an notebook problem.
Who knows why the battery cannot charge maybe there is something wrong with the motherboard or only some battery pins are not connected properly.
Does the battery LED lights up when you insert the battery into the machine and disconnect the AC adaptor?
If not then this would mean that the battery is not recognized and this would mean that there is something wrong with the notebook
In such case the machine should be checked by a notebook technician
The Toshiba ASP (authorized service partner) should be contacted

  • Tecra 550 cdt - battery/charging

    Hi,
how can I tell whether my laptop is charging batteries - and the battery is a dud - or the battery is fine, but the laptop is not charging the battery?
    thanks

    Hi
I dont know if I understand you right but it sounds like your notebook cannot charge the battery. Am I right?
Well, firstly you should check if your AC adaptor is ok and if the notebook runs with main power.
If its clear so you can try to check the battery pin connection. Remove the battery for a while and after several time put it again.
Then check if the battery will charge.
If not so its possible that the battery is dead. In this case you should check if the new battery will solve your problem.
Its also possible that there is something wrong with the battery charging electronic. In this case I would recommend contacting the Toshiba service partner in your country. The guys should check the notebook.
By the way; you can purchase the compatible battery also from the service partner.

  • Solaris 8 and PCMCIA on Toshiba Tecra 520 CDT

I am having problems with my pcmcia services with X86 on my Toshiba Tecra 520 CDT laptop. It will not recognize the network card(s) or any PCMCIA cards for that matter. Do I need to load a specific driver or turn on the PCMCIA service or something to that affect for the PCMCIA slot to work? I have heard that the Toshiba laptop is the most supported laptop model for X86. Could anyone give me some advice or point me to the right website or news group. Please reply or contact me directly at [email protected] Much appreciation!

I believe that PCMCIA is broken in Solaris 8.
I can't seem to get networking to work on my Dell either.
    Good Luck,

  • First battery charge and current issues?

    Hi!
I just bought a new MacBook (2.0 GHz, 160 GB). I have two quick questions:
    1. I plugged in my AC adapter, turned on the notebook for about 5 minutes to make sure it works fine, etc, then shut it down to let the battery charge. Would I have lost any battery capacity by not fully charging the battery first? And do I need to let the battery run through a full cycle when I first use the computer to ensure full capacity?
    2. Are there any updates/best practices for the 2008 (December) MacBook batteries? I know there was an issue in 2007, but for the new line am I set to go? And is it still best practice to put shut the Mac down instead of putting it to sleep to save wear and tear on the hard-drive/battery?
sorry for all the questions: it has been 5 years since I bought my last notebook so I am a bit rusty/excited!

  • Yoga 3 Pro Battery Charging Problems

I've combined several discussions into one because there are multiple cross-overs of symptoms.
After reviewing all the posts, I see there are two types of problems discussed:
Battery charging but only to a certain percentage
    Battery intermittently charging
Several people have reported success with their limited battery percentage problem by following the solutions suggested by MarinM and Vladtech.
For the intermittent charging, several people have reported that sometimes the battery charges, sometimes it doesn't. I'd like to dig into these reports. I have a few questions I'd like to ask.
When does it charge, when does it not?
Are there any patterns to this?
Does swapping electrical outlets make a difference?
Does the USB 2.0 charging port appear loose?
Does the cable show any signs of damage?
Does the AC adapter show any signs of damage?
When a second device is plugged into the extra USB port on the AC Adapter, does this impact Y3P charging?
Are there any battery error messages?
    Thank you for your help,

Charge the phone for 15 minutes with the Apple charger. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

  • Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! They said it should be pulsating but it's not

Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! I already read some reviews and discussion about this. They said that the lightning bolt should pulsate when charging but it's not!

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • First time battery charge

    Hello,
I just got myself a new 13-inch Macbook Pro retina display. I've been reading about the first battery charge and how to use it later on, but I have another question on the first charge:
For the first charge, do I need to turn the Macbook off or can I use it while it charges for the first time, full charge.
    Thank you!

    Hi j,
You can use it, just make sure you charge it all the way up before disconnecting the power adapter. Enjoy!

  • IPhone 5s first battery charge

I have just gotten a brand new iPhone 5s and just ran out of battery: how long should I keep it plugged-in for the first battery charge?
    iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2

Do whatever you like. Leave it until it's fully charged if you don't need to walk away from the charger with it, or leave it on charge for as long or as little as you like. The best way to look after the battery is to stop yourself inventing rules. Lithium batteries do better when they are exercised. The only thing which you are better avoiding is to do what most people think is good:  run it down until it dies, then charge it to 100%, then run it down until it dies...   This is not good for lithium batteries.
Charge it whenever a charger is to hand, regardless of the current state of charge, and don't worry about it.

  • Right way for battery charging

Hi everybody! I bought an iPad Air when he was released. Surfing on Internet, I've heard conflicting opinions about the right way to charge the iPad (or the iPhone) to increase its battery life. What I want to ask is this: iit is true that once a month you have to bring the battery to 0% and then charging it?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. If i had put it on sleep even then it wont turn on it will work as usual as it is suppose to do. I went to icare twice and they game me the device back after 1-2 weeks saying it is now not giving any issue but when i will used it next morning again same thing happened. It's like i can never go out anywhere with the laptop outside as i have to first charge it and then turn it on. Icare wont replace my device they only say if there is any issue with the hardware we will replace that hardware but i think it is useless because they don't know what the issue is. Can someone help me out what to do now ? It's been to iCare ever since i bought it now i don't want them to again do the same thing.

  • How can I turn off battery charging when plugged in to power on a plane?

    Hi,
is there an app that can turn off battery charging while plugged in?
I regularly fly from Australia to Europe (22 hours on the plane!) but the power outlet usually stalls when draining too much power
(e.g. 85 Watts for my Macbook Pro battery).
    Any solutions available?
I used to just take out the battery, however, that  is not possible anymore on the Macbook Pro.
    Thanks for your help.
    Christoph

But why turn off battery charging, makes no sense in this case. You either run off the battery or plug it in and run off the battery while it is charging.
The power draw won't change appreciably.
My bad power consumption will change
It would seem the best strategy would be to get on with a fully charged battery plug in the laptop and let it trickle charge as you use it. Given the length of the flight this should give you the longest use with the minimum amount of draw from the seat outlet.

  • My ipod touch is jammed on the battery charging screen, i have tried hooking up to itunes to reset it but it jams itunes as well. I cannot switch it off either. Can anyone help?

My ipod touch seems to be jammed on the battery charging screen it has the spining symbol like its trying to load something.  I cannot turn it off. I have tried hooking it up to itunes to reset it, but it seems to jam itunes as well. Any help would b much appreciated.

    Try:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connecting it to your computer.  If iTunes see it, restore the iPod via iTunes
    - If no sceen in iTunes, see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore it. For recvery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Let, let the battery fully drain and then charger and try again.

  • Battery charge info in status bar is incorrect!  HELP!

This issue started a day or two ago and at first I thought it was no big deal, but it's actually quite a problem! I've got a 15.4" Macbook Pro that I bought in May, and have never had any problems up until this point. But then I noticed that the icon in the status bar where it says the percentage of battery charge and says whether it's running off battery or it's plugged in - it's WRONG. It's stuck at 99% and says it's plugged in. All the time. Even when it's almost dead and not plugged in. So I can't tell how much battery charge it has left. In all of the places where you can view info about the battery, the info is wrong - it says it's fully charged, that I have a long time left, etc. but it's not true. So now it can completely out of batteries and shut down and I won't be able to tell that it's running low.
Has anyone had this problem? What do I do? Is this a software or a hardware issue? HELP!

Have you tried resetting the PRAM ?
