Tecra 9000 - Modem and Sound Board

I have a Tecra 9000 that had a problem a cople of months ago.
The modem wasn't recognized any more....
Since the problem was not important I didn't take any actions.
But now it is the sound board that stopped working.
It isn't recognized by the OS any more.
What seems to be happening? Software or hardware problems?
Best Regards
Paulo

Hello
Its not easy to say, what the problem is (software or hardware). First of all you can try to delete these two devices (modem, soundcard) from the Device Manager. After booting the OS should recognize the devices. Furthermore you can try to install the new driver for these devices. If this action doesnt help, you can try to reinstall your system with the Recovery CD.

  • Tecra R840 - Ethernet and sound driver Dynadock issue

    Hey,
Tecra R840, model PT429A-007004, does not work correctly with the Toshiba dyna dock.
Specifically, the Ethernet and the audio driver for the dyna dock is not installed after running either the driver install from the dyna dock cd or running the latest driver from the website.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
Note: there is nothing in device manager to say that these drivers for the dock a missing, only when installing the driver does the wizard mention that the Ethernet and audio drivers could not be installed.
It also mentions that the dynadock has an issue with the on board graphics card but we have not had any issues with graphics, i.e. screens.

    Hey,
    Sorry for the late reply.
That fix does not resolve the issue.
Manually adding the drivers removes the yellow exclamations marks and fixes the audio, but it does not fix the Ethernet connection. So, currently we have had to plug the Ethernet cable directly into the model of laptop mentioned above instead of the dock.
    Firmware update has not helped.
Can anyone from Toshiba please test this and let me know their thoughts or perhaps a solution if found? It would be greatly appreciated.

  • Tecra 9000 running W2k - Audio controller driver problem !

    Please Help!
I have a Toshiba Tecra 9000 notebook and recently discovered the sound was no longer working. I am unsure as to exactly when it first stopped working but believe it was either with MS Windows 2000 Updates or when cleaning up PC after Spyware attack. Upon checking the actual device (Yamaha AC-XG Audio Device) it has the every so helpful " ! " with a 'Code 10 - the device cannot start', within the 'Device Status' screen.
I have removed device and allowed windows to detect & install, no success, then downloaded and tried many device drivers and generic drivers, and
even the latest as suggested on a Toshiba support website I located
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com that being;
    Driver Date: 22/05/2001 Version: 5.12.1.2138
I am at a complete loss as to why it stopped working and what to try next to try and resolve the problem. Any
assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    K

    Hi
It is possible that after installation of some MS Updates that the audio driver is blocked from loading to your system and no sound can be heard.
If you want you can try to install this driver:
    http://drivers.soft32.com/driver/download-Yamaha_AC_XG_Generic_Drivers_for_YMF753_743_752-24609.html
It helps after installation of SP2. I am not sure if it will help in your case but you can try it.

  • Tecra 9000: After SP2 installation the Yamaha sound driver does not work

    Hi,
    I own a Tecra 9000, with a Yamaha AC-XG sound card.
The problem is that since I installed Windows XP with SP2 included, I lost my sound.
I know also that Toshiba is aware of this situation and they have managed to post a solution for it. I've tried this solution:
    Detail:
The Yamaha AC-XG driver uses PortCls function for checking the operatingsystem version. XP Service Pack 1, PortCls function is changed, then the Yamaha driver cannot get operatingsystem version correctly. The operatingsystem provides the version for Windows 95. Therefore the Operatingsystem has a blue screen. Therefore Microsoft added the workaround and illegal drivers are blocked from working on SP1. This issue also happens Windows XP SP2.
    Yamaha already provides the fixed drvier to Toshiba. The fixed driver version is the following;
    yacxg.sys 6.13.10.2152 with software synthesizer
    yacxgc.sys 6.13.10.3152 without software synthesizer
    How to fix this issue:
Install the fixed driver on a system before/after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2.
    Install steps:
    (1) Unzip an attached file on your hard disk.
    (2) Run SETUP.EXE
    (3) Click the Next button.
    (4) Choose "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish.
A toshiba engineer told me that first of all I needed to install the old driver "5.12.01.3141", and it worked out ok, but still no sound.
And then he told me to install the version "6.13.10.2152", but this went wrong. I've got the error message "Driver was not installed".
I already tried lots of different drivers, including generic and yamaha drivers.
Please tell me a good solution for this issue if possible.
    Thank you very much,
    Hugo

    Hi Hugo
It seems today is your lucky day ;)
Thanks to Toshiba because the Toshiba computer knowledge base is a really useful area and I have found many useful document and solutions!!!
I found also a solution for your tiny issue ;)
As you said the problem is the Microsoft service pack 2. The sound driver makes some troubles after the installation of SP1 or SP2 and therefore the update is necessary!!!
    Please take a look here:
Windows XP Service Pack 1a or Service Pack 2 incompatible with existing Yamaha sound driver

  • Tecra 9000: onboard modem isnt detected with WINDOWS XP

I reinstall Windows XP and it is not possible to detect the internal Modem with the device manager automatically. No internal modem is detected. Could somebody please send me a link for downloading a suitable internal modem driver for Tecra 9000? Many thanks in advance.
    Anybody has same problem, too?

    Hello Clemi
Sorry but I assume that the modem is defective. All working hardware parts are shown in device manager even as unknown devices. You can download the right modem driver from Toshiba download page but I dont believe that it will help.

  • Airport Express icw wireless modem and B&O sound system

    Hi all,
I am considering buying the Airport Extreme. Main reasons are:
    1) playing iTunes via the sound system and
    2) wireless connection possibility to external hard disc.
I will use it in combination with my current wireless modem and B&O sound system.
From where my internet enters the house it is quite a distance to the sound system location that I can not easily (esthetically acceptable) connect to the sound system.
    My main questions are:
    1) Is Airport Extreme the right system to buy?
    2) Can the Airport Extreme audio output signals be combined through 1 cable for both iTunes and cable radio?
    3) Can I use the Airport Extreme device for playing movies on my television as well?
I am quite an amature if it comes down to setting up networks and systems, so all (low key) tips are more than welcome. Many thanks in advance!
    Kindest regards,
    Robbie W

    Ummm.....
The express will not extend your modem, since Apple hasn't shipped its own brand modem for years. You can't extend third party routers.  You can try a few tricks if you have ethernet cables though...

  • Tecra 9000 - LED flashes and cannot boot

I was recently given an old Tecra 9000 laptop. Unfortunately, it did not have a HDD (it was removed and trashed by the previous owner).
I have bought a couple of HDDs that I thought should work in this machine, but all that seems to happen is the power light flashes seven times, pauses, then flashes once (and then repeats this.
I assume this is an error code of some kind.
The drives I have tried are a MK4025GAS and a MK4026GAX. The result is the same on both.
Can someone advise as to what this error means, or even tell me the part number of a drive that will work with this machine?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Guy
One question; did you try to power up the notebook without inserting the HDD?
Usually if the notebook is ok it should be possible to start the notebook. Of course the notebook will not load the Windows OS because the HDD is missing but it should be able to start and the LED should not flash!!!
But if the LED flashes this means that the fault was detected on the motherboard and the LED lamp sends a blinking code.
The short blinking means 0 and the long blinking means 1
Error code starts with LSB (least significant bit)
    for example:
    0000 0001 -> 1000 0000
This code you have to transform in hex and you will get the error code.
But in my opinion nobody will give you an answer what it means.
Every notebook series porvides own error code...

  • I am using logic to record a podcast and using soundboard to use as a playback for music and sound effects.  I'd like to soft patch sound board into logic, and still use my interface for recording audio from the other members of the podcast.

I am using logic to record a podcast.  I have a presonus firestudio mobile for my interface so I can record several people at the same time.  I'm also using Soundboard for a playback system for music and sound effects.  I'd like to know how to soft patch Soundboard into Logic while still using the Firestudio interface to record the other members of the podcast.  Does anyone know how to do this? and if so can you tell me how to do it?  Thanks.

Thanks. Now, since Apple failed to provide an audio in jack for their new and improved iMacs (mine has one), all I can suggest is that you contact AppleCare, since you have 90-dqy free phone support. If need be, you might reconsider your purchase, but that's for you to decide.

  • Tecra M9 PTM91E - Can I install 3G modem and Turbo memory module?

    Hi guys,
I have this notebook, but I want install aditional mini express card, like a 3G modem and Intel Turbo memory module, but I dont have free connector.
I bought two mini express conectors and solder on mainboard. But cards dont working in notebook. I must somthing enable in BIOS or solder aditional component? Second question is, I want web cam, I have one crom old notebok which is connected across USB. Have this motherboard any free USB conector?
Sry for my English. THX guys

    hi Fab30,
i wonder how you know where to solder the components on the mainboard, some kind of magic i suppose...
if you wanna use your "self-soldered" items make sure that the chipset is able to handle it....
otherwise use a 3g-modem on usb...
the intel turbo memory... as far as i know this is a special chip on the mainboard which stores data to exalerate your os...
if you wanna use these features you have some options:
    - redesign mainboard to your need, some reverse engineering have to be done too
    - buy a notebook which has the desired features in it
in my point of view buying a new one will be easier....

  • Power Saver 7 on Tecra 9000

    Hi everybody,
I realized that newer versions of Toshibas Power Saver are
available for newer Tecra Notebooks. I am using Power Saver 4 on my Tecra 9000. I just tried to install the latest version of PowerSaver on my Tecra 9000. The installation seemed to work, but after finishing the procedure, a error sound accured and power saver did not start correctly, but I have got no error massage. If I try to start the power saver manually I only get an error massage, that I have no permission to start the process!
Is it possible to install and use a newer version of power saver on the Tecra 9000? What is the highest version I can use on the Tecra 9000? Hopefully not version 4?!
    best regards
    Matty

    Hi Matty
Can you please tell me did you have any problems with Power saver? For every notebook series and for every notebook model there are aligned versions for each model and you can use just Power saver that is made for your 9000 model.
Believe me the best version for your Tecra is version that you can find on Tools & Utilities CD. If there is no problem with Power saver it is not necessary to make any update.

  • Toshiba Tecra 9000 Noise

    Hello everyone,
I have just bought the Toshiba Tecra 9000 Pentium 3 1Ghz, 256RAM from ebay. The problem is that after starting some Video applications or sometimes even opening new website which is in Macromedia Flash I hear some strange noise, which I think is from the Hard Drive. The sound is similar to the CDROM, when you put there CD and it starts reading.
Maybe anyone does have any suggestion regarding that and can help me out. Maybe I did not configure something well.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi
my suggestion is not so funny and very time-consuming, but it might put you off in the right direction.
Clanking noises MIGHT indicate harddisk problems.
A good way to find out if there is in fact a harddisk problem is to perform a full scandisk.
Make sure to enable "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".
When the scanning is done, sit down & prepare to spend some time in front of your computer. Listen to the sounds your harddisk is doing. If You hear the clanking when the surface test is done - then you can be quite sure to have a harddisk problem. Also listen for repeating sounds like "chuck-chuck-chuck-......"
    Hope this helps you
    BR
    Tom

  • Wireless modem and Airport Express.. one at a time

Recently my internet provider upgraded my old plug in modem to a newer wireless model. Now it seems that the current setting allow communication with only one or the other at the same time. If I want to be online with the wireless modem and send my iTunes music via Airport Express to my sound system, no dice. I have to either click on the modem up in the Airport choices to be online and listen to iTunes through the computer speakers, or go offline to listen to music through the sound system and Airport Express.
I'm sure I'm just missing something in preferences or settings somewhere.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks, and Happy New Year!

    No ideas?

  • Tecra 9000: SD card reader will not work with XP

I have made some progress with this subject, it seems that Cardbus devices cannot share IRQs, although the main issue is that the memory address FFDFB200-FFDFB3FF is shared by both the SD card controller and the SD Card Memory Device. Unless a way to modify the registry can be found to resolve this memory conflict, the simple answer is that the SD card reader won't work under XP.
I think this would take some major surgery of the registry or re-writing of the drivers to move the memory address used by the SD card device, I am still working on this for now.
Can someone from Toshiba Support or Toshiba Marketing please explain to me why my Tecra T9100 has a sticker with "Designed for Windows XP and Windows 2000" on it, when Toshiba don't fully support XP on the 9000 series?
    David
    [Edited by: admin]

    Hi David
Unfortunately, I dont think that you will find here someone from Toshiba marketing or other departments. This is ONLY a user to user forum.
What you say is simply NOT true.
The Tecra 9000 was delivered with 3 different OS.
It was delivered with Windows XP Pro, W2k and Win98. You can order all this Toshiba images from the Toshiba service partner. Therefore Tecra 9000 does support Windows XP!
Tecra 9100 was delivered with Windows XP and Windows 2000 and supports also Windows XP!
Of course there are different models with different hardware configuration but all supports WinXP.
I dont know why you get this error message or why you cannot use the SD card but I assume you dont use the Toshiba image. Therefore you have installed your OS not correctly. Because youre a newbie you dont know that the whole Toshiba driver installation must be done in the right order and all the Microsoft QFEs must be also installed.
As you see you have to pay attention to many important things if you want to install the OS manually.
    Have a nice day

  • Wireless with Tecra 9000 is not working

Hi, I've a toshiba tecra 9000, in the last weeks I had problems with my windows xp, so I decided to install win 2000.
2000 is more stable, but I had a problem with the wireless card... I installed latest drivers downloaded from toshiba website... wireless card is installed with success, but when I start Client Manager there's no way to find my access point...
I've no signal and cannot find any network... can you help?
    thank you

Did the notebook connect to the AP with the installed XP???
Firstly please be sure that your Wlan card was enabled on the notebook in the right way.
The switch at the notebook side and the FN+F8 should be used to enable the WLan card.
Does the AP supports the same wireless standard as the installed minPCI WLan card. I mean the A. B or G standard.
The router and the card should support the same standard for properly coupling
