Tecra 9100: The lid is broken and TFT is dead

I have a Toshiba Tecra 9100 512MB ram CD/DVD +ext DVD-+RW +ext 160GB HDD etc........, but also epilepsy.
I fell in a fit, and broke the lid.
The case is broken (lid only), and the TFT is dead.
Can you repair this? And if so; how much for what?
Please break it down.

Hi Robert,
You will need to get in touch with your nearest Authorised Service Partner to get a breakdown of the cost for repairing your notebook.
It is quite likely that you can claim the cost of the repair against your home contents insurance (I did this when my A30 fell on the floor and broke the optical drive).

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you need to deactivate Find My iPhone on a device that does not work. My Macbook Pro (5,3) sporadically goes to sleep when the lid is open and I am actively using it. This problem happens both with OS X 10.7.2 and Windows 7 (64bit), so I don't think it's an OS issue. Has anyone else encountered this? It's still covered under apple care... But I'd rather try to fix it myself before having to bring it in.

You don't even say what platform you are on, or any other details that may help others assist you.
If you are on a Mac, try opening your file in GraphicConverter (they have a demo version) if that doesn't open it, nothing will, in my experience.
I assume you have tried Adobe Illustrator already to recover.
You may also have a JPEG of your complete file (flattened) in Bridge Cache.
On the Mac you'd find it in your User ~Library (NOT the Root Library ):
Users > yourname > Library > Caches > Adobe > Bridge CS6 > Cache > 1024 > jpg(fileID)number Filename.psd.jpg
The user ~Library is hidden, but you can make it visible for an moment or two. Ask Apple if you don't know how.

There is no exchange program. If the damage was caused by the user, it also wouldn't be covered by any warranty, so your best bet is to try to sell it as is or get it fixed and then sell it or keep using it. Some resellers will accept trade ins - I know this company accepts trade ins, but it may just be Macs, not iDevices - you can check though:

I recently managed to get the whole casing of my 13" Macbook Pro (Mid-2009) replaced due to a missing foot and dodgy spacebar. The lid is dented and scratched so would like to know how much it would cost to replace? I know its not covered by AppleCare.

So i took my Macbook Pro 13'' (Mid-2009) into Apple because the spacebar was jammed and I had one of the feet of the bottom casing missing which was unusual (black circles). The unibody and bottom plate had a fair few dents and nicks and under AppleCare I was able to get the whole unibody and bottom case fixed for free. Saved myself a good £181!
This now leaves my lid which has one or two noticeable dents and the bottom right part is suffering from several scratches. I was wondering how much a new lid would cost if I took it into Apple? I know it won't be covered under AppleCare as its accidental damage but want to know whether its worth paying for to have a once again dent free Macbook Pro .
As a side note, do Apple upgrade your hardware at all, such as the hard drive or memory? I know it would be cheaper to do it at an independant computer shop or by myself but would like to explore my options first.

Can the lid be closed and still run the computer with an external display?

I purchased a 19" LCD display to hook to my G3, everything works fine but I cannot find any reference on whether the lid for the laptop can be closed while running the computer. Can anyone help answer this for me? Currently I am looking at my laptop with the lid half-closed, or is that open...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the computer is plugged in on the AC power adapter. (this is because the power requirements are higher for an external display.)
- Close the PowerBook's display. The PowerBook will go to sleep.
- Connect the external monitor.
- Turn on the external monitor.
- Connect an external Apple USB keyboard and mouse.
- Now the PowerBook will wake from sleep.
Next time when you want your Powerbook to sleep use the "sleep" option from the Blue Apple menu (on the left top).

I tried to delete and reinstall Lightroom 5 and have the same problems. I was on chat last night and got a reinstall. This Am The shortcut is broken and when I open directly it is asking me for my serial number. I did that last night.

I successfully got Lightroom to open, it does not show my SD drive. I added the SD drive (folder) and it opened a few photos but then opened an old catalog. I tried again and got grey thumbnails with the correct Canon file numbers but no images. When I selected import, it opened an old catalog and began to convert it. I recently got the creative cloud subscription and I can open these photos there after pinning. The problem is, I don't have time to figure out Photoshop before I need these photos.

iTunes accounts can be logged in and authorized on multiple computers (up to five) at the same time.
Signing into iTunes has never caused the media to magically appear.
Use the backup of the old computer to put the media on the new computer.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and explain what happend and be nice. Although a broken screen is not covered by the warranty, sometimes the Genius will exchange it at no cost, especially for a new one.

I have an iPhone 4S on which I bought the Apple Care policy. The phone was broken and I was told that Apple would do nothing as it was "beyond economical repair". Does anybody know where in the Apple Care agreement the topic of beyond economical repair?

I recently brought in a broken iPhone 4S and was told the damage was too great and therefore that is was BER and Apple would not cover the phone. I have never dealt with this issue before and was curious as to where in the terms and conditons Apple reserves the right to not cover if the think that the phone is beyond economical repair. Also, has nobody ever questioned if it is fair to sell consumers coverage for accidental damage and not tell them that only small damage is covered and not major damage? You mention Apple Care, not Apple Care + which are two completely different things. Apple Care is nothing more than an additional year of standard warranty coverage. Apple Care + is what addressed accidental damage. Warranty has never covered accidental damage. What kind of damage did you do? An out of warranty replacement can be done for $199 for the iPhone 4S, and that just means you brought the phone in at least somewhat intact.
Never heard the term, but what I wrote above is what warranty is.

How do you disable the touch screen (Broken and handicapping normal mouse use)

Hi, I have an ideacentre B540. My two year old daughter did something to my computer when I wasn't in the room and ended up busting it right on the top left corner. There is only one hairline crack that was visable in the upper left corner. I've found a replacement LCD screen, but cannot afford it right now, so... Meanwhile, I would like to just disable the touch portion of my computer, because often, it will think it is active (probably damaged the sensor in the fall :-P and take the power away from my mouse, open random windows, and generally... Make an otherwise normal PC unuseable. Is there ANYTHING that I can do to disable the touch pad? Even a list of the touch specific processes that I can immediately delete upon startup would be great, because it seems to give me a few minutes before it decides to start acting up. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your trouble.
Can you try these methods to disable the touchscreen:
For Windows 7:
1. Click on Start > type Pen and Touch and run the app
2. On the Pen and Touch window, click on the Touch Tab and uncheck Use your finger as an input Device and hit apply the settings (Source: Disable touchscreen on Windows 7)
For Windows 8:

How do you back up your phone when the screen is broken and the phone is locked?

My screen is no longer functional. I am going to take it to the apple store for a replacement byt I would like to back up my files first. When I try to do it my computer tells me I can't without the phone being unlocked. Is there anything I can do?

Sorry. you don't. If you use the same computer you normally sync with, you would not be prompted for the passcode unless you set the passcode since the last time you synced it.
