Tecra A10 - How deselect the fingerprint reader when docked

Hi,
I use a Tecra A10 together with an Express Port Replicator 2.
How can I deselect the fingerprint reader when docked and yet use it when undocked?
Thanks for your help

Thank you so far!
I never thought your way, which makes sence to me indeed. It just bothered me all the time that the pop up window off the fingerprint reader is very dominant. So with some software it is not easy to insert your password. Do you know which external fingerprint reader the Toshiba TrueSuite Access Manager works with if at all?

  • Why I don't use the fingerprint reader in my 5S

I loved the fingerprint reader when I first used it, until I noticed one thing: When you enable the fingerprint passcode unlock, you lose the ability to set a duration of the "Require Passcode" option to anything other than "Immediately". If I'm txting or driving with my navigation app, I constantly need to be able to get in and out of the phone, and it's very inconvenience to have to swipe the notification on the lock screen and then have to use my fingerprint to get in. I want to still be able to only have it require a passcode after x minutes, even if I use the fingerprint option. For that reason I have turned off the fingerprint feature. Is there a workaround? Does anyone else find this anoying?

Not sure what you are asking. Does your account not work on your phone, are you getting an error message ?

  • My Touchsmart tx2 1360ca Win7 is reporting the fingerprint reader is disconnected how do I fix it?

My computer abruptly without any changes I'm aware of reported the fingerprint reader was disconnected on start-up. I had to hack in and remove all passwords as I had long ago  lost the original. The finger print reader was convenient and I would like it back. No trauma to the case or unusal power fluctuations that I know of.

Possibly. Make an appointment at the genius bar and have them take a look at it.
If it was ever hacked to unlock it or jailbroken, it may now be permanently bricked.

  • What can be done with the fingerprint reader?

I am trying to figure out simply what I can do with the fingerprint reader on the T400. I understand how to use it to log into the computer. My main question is whether or not I can use the fingerprint reader in the following contexts, and if so how.
1a) To  log into internet password protected websites. When I use IE, the password manager pops up and prompts me to save a password. If I save it, I can return to that website and it automatically will enter the login information and password for me. I want to know whether you can have password manager (or another program) prompt the user for the fingerprint and then submit the login information. That way the information is protected each time I log in, but I do not need to enter log in information each time, only a fingerprint.
1b) If this is possible in IE8, I would like to know if it is possible in Firefox 3, in which password manager does not pop up.
    2) Can it be used to log into MS Outlook.
    3) Can it be used to lock documents in MS Word.
I much appreciate any information letting me know if these can be done, and if so, how to do them. Thank you very much for your help!

After playing with it for a while I figured out at least questions 1a) and 1b). For anyone else who has the same questions:
1a) Have your browser save the password using Lenovo's Password Manager. Then open password manager and open that item.  Click the advanced tab and change the security level to custom. Click "Customize Security Policy" and select "Protect with a Fingerprint."
1b) Lenovo has a patch to synch Password Manager with firefox 3. It can be found here and is much easier than the manual fixes found on this forum.
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70132
I am still looking for help with 3) and 4), particurally 3). Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you very much!!

  • Re: Tecra Z40, Win 8.1 - Fingerprint reader malfunction

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
My Tecra Z40 arrived with Win 8.1.
From the start I could not use the Fingerprint Utility.
When accessing the utility nothing would happen for a moment and then the error: 'Could not connect to the fingerprint reader' eventually popped up.
I could also not use the built in Win 8.1 fingerprint enrolment (Error: This device has not suitable biometric device).(PS mind that this built in feature is now metro-embedded and no biometric device settings are now present in the control panel in Win 8.1!)
The problem persisted despite the latest Fingerprint Utility (that comes with the drivers) were installed for Win 8.1. 64 bit directly from TOSHIBA website and despite that a biometric device was always present in the Task Manager ('this device works properly')!
    SOLUTION:
After literally weeks of searching (including getting help from the shop and from Toshiba service) I could finally solve the issue.
I uninstalled the driver and the fingerprint reader from the device manager (only then are the fingerprint reader drivers really removed).
Then I cleaned the registry (I used CC cleaner software) (otherwise installing again was failing for some reason).
Finally I installed an equivalent Fingerprint Utility and the driver for Tecra Z50 (fp-sw-20140605164020.zip) (which I expected to be use the exact same sensor)...and since, everything works fine.
I can now access the Fingerprint Utility and use the fingerprint log on in Windows.
    SUGGESTION FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION:
It seems that the driver offered on Toshiba support website (I believe for me it was the Polish one) for my exact machine (established by TOSHIBA-detector.exe) is incorrect.
To make things worse the driver does not communicate any useful information about its miss-fit in the task manager! If I had to recalculate into money the time I and a bunch of support people had spent on it, it really does make sense to improve that drivers list!
(PS: one of the regpatch files in the same online directory has a virus (yes A VIRUS) recognized in it by Antivir! Toshiba- you may wish to contact somebody responsible for that Polish support site!)
    REMAINING ISSUES:
No fingerprint log in is possible in either Internet Explorer nor Mozilla despite appropriate plugins were installed along with the Fingerprint Utility where the web password option was enabled. (no suggestion appears to appear to attach the fingerprint service to the sites requiring passwords- maybe your service gets blocked by popup blocking protection of browsers?).
I was actually much looking forward to this feature.
Please ensure that the plugins work correctly with the latest browsers.
    Greetings

Hey thanks for this interesting thread and detailed description.

    Hello
I was unable to find the drivers searching with your product and model number as well.
I was able to keep searching and found this link and it was under our business site support. This is the drivers for your unit series and you should be able to download the fingerprint reader drivers from the link.
Let me know if this helps.

  • How to get fingerprint reader to work with passwords on web pages?

I just got my x61 with fingerprint reader.  I have enrolled my fingerprints and am able to use the fingerprint reader to logon to the system.  I would also like to use the reader to bypass password entry on webpages I use frequently, like email.  I think this is a possible function of the fingerprint reader (as is implied in the Lenovo video about the fingerprint reader), but I cannot find any information on how to do this.  Can anyone help?

You can use password manger,It's a part of CSS.

  • IS the fingerprint reader ok to install on 8.1 again?

I'd like to reinstall the fingerprint reader however, i'm fearful it will bring problems again. so before i do, i thought i'd ask you guys. is it safe to install the fingerprint reader on 8.1 64 bitor should i hold off?

Maybe people have found a solution already but yesterday I managed to install Win 8.1 as a BootCamp on my new 15" retina MBP.  I followed the steps John Guo described but with a couple of changes as his approach failed for me.
    1. Make sure you are starting from a single partition.
    2. Create the Windows install USB from the ISO and also allow BootCamp Assistant to create download the drivers - but untick the option to install windows.
    3. Open Disk Utility and create a new partition and format as MS-DOS (FAT) rather than leave as free space.
    4. Restart your Mac and use the option to boot into the Windows part of the USB not the EFI-boot.
    5. Follow the install
    6. When it comes to the drive selection select the FAT drive. Windows installer will say it cannot install here as it needs to be and NTFS partitiion (in previous atempts I always got the message to say the partitiion was using GUI partition table so could not install even though it was formatted to NTFS).
    7. The format to NTFS should work fine and install proceed.
    8. When the installer reboots the machine you will need to use the boot option to ensure you boot back into Windows.
    9. Once installed the bootcamp driver install runs automatically and for me all drivers run fine even the NVIDIA, which I've seen some people mention having issues with.
I was inpressed with Windows automatically scaling the text to 200%, which meant it was using the full 2880x1800 resolution so everything was crisp but the windows and text was scaled nicely. I changed this 150% to give me some more real estate.
I'm guessing that by formatting the new partition as FAT it creates a MBP within the new drive that is writable by windows but I'm not a windows guru so this is a guess. But anyway, this work perfectly.
    hope this helps some people.

  • Can i use only the fingerprint reader to log onto my phone?

I'm wondering if I can by pass the 4 digit code completely and only use the fingerprint reader to log onto my 5S phone.

Yes, that's how it's designed. You only need the passcode if you haven't unlocked your iPhone within the last 48 hours.

  • The fingerprint reader on my HP Pailion dv7 will not work in Firefox 4, but worked fine in earlier versions.

The fingerprint reader uses DigitalPersona 5.0.0.4490 extension. Firefox 4.0 says this is loaded and active. However, fingerprints cannot be used to log in from Firefox 4.0.
I reloaded Firefox 3.6.16 and everything automatically began working properly.

I see you started another question thread - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/888892 - so I guess your problem isn't resolved.
If it is trying to print to an XPS file, your printer isn't selected as the destination for print. You need to select you printer in the Printer - Name box. See the screenshot.

  • How does the DAQmx read.vi work in producer/consumer mode

    Dear all,
I have one question: how does the DAQmx read.vi work in producer/consumer mode ?
I mean if i set the acquisition samples quantity is 5000,(see the enclosed picture), how does the DAQmx read.vi acquire the samples ?
    5000 samples one time ?
And how does the write. vi work ? Also 5000 samples one time ?
    Look forward to your reply.
    Thank you.

It will read 5000 samples per channel.
The Write Measurement File just writes whatever you give it.  It you send it 5000 data points, it will write the 5000 data points.

  • X121e: Driver for the fingerprint reader

    Hello,
I purchased a X121e notebook at Lenovo directly; it's of type 3045-CTO and has a fingerprint reader.
I installed Windws 7 x64 from scratch and loaded all drivers, but I can't find the driver for the fingerprint reader on the driver download website.
Please, could someone help me to find this driver / software?
    Many thanks.

    Hi saxa,
Download and run System Update and it should find your driver.  Read the directions. You'll need MS Net.Framework to make it work.
See if there is anything in the bios under the security settings for turning on the fingerprint reader.  Make sure it's on if there is.

  • Can you disable the fingerprint reader on a touchsmart tm2 tablet?

Is there any way to disable or adjust the fingerprint reader on a touchsmart tm2 tablet?

You should have a blue fingerprint icon on your taskbar. Double click it to reach the preferences.
If not, try the control panel or search for "Simple Pass" software.
From there you can manage the general preferences and the "archive" of fingerprints recognized by the system.
If you want just plain remove the functionality, uninstalling the software turn off all fingerprint options altogether (from the login screen, inside the browser, etc).

  • How is the fingerprint used for security

    Dear all,
There were an excellent article last year about how the passcode is used in the security architecture of iOS
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iOS_Security_Oct12.pdf
I was wondering how is the fingerprint used in the encrpyption mechanism.
    - Is a hash generated and then the hash is compared and if ok the access is grante d?
    - Is this hash is used in the deriving process of the encryption key ?
    - etc ?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Regards

It cleans rather well for me but, i never actually touch the screen with my hands/fingers. Just get a microfiber cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner like method window cleaner from target:)

  • How to disable FingerPrint Reader in Bios for X61?

I am trying to disable the FingerPrint reader on a X61 do it doesn't show up in the Device Manager in Windows 7.  I have currently disabled the FingerPrint reader in the Bios, however the Biometric Device still appears in Device Manager.  Is there something in the Bios I need to disable along with the FingerPrint reader?

    Welcome to the forum!
You'd actually need to uninstall the Fingerprint Reader software for it not to show in the Device Manager anymore.
