Tecra A11-11H can't connect by wireless when in Linux

All attempts to get wireless working in Fedora 14 have failed. lspci gives me no useful information about wireless. The only thing I can see about networking is
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6200 (rev 35)
Is there any documentation about the driver required and how to configure the interface?

For the sake of anyone else with this problem - it is supported by the broadcom-wl driver. I now have a working connection.

  • Tecra A11-17V can't connect to WLan

I have a Tecra A11-17V 15.6 inches and the problemis that i cant get WLan conection at home.
With all other devices I come in my WLAN and the Tecra also in others, but not in mine.
It is a WPA2-PSK with AES and 128-bit encryption.
    What can be causing this?
    Best regards

Is it not possible with this settings?
Obviously your WLan router encryption settings are not supported by the WLan card and therefore you have to change the encryption!
As suggested by Jeffrey; try another settings.
    For example:
    Network Authentication: WPA2-PSK
    WPA Encryption: TKIP
    Encryption Strength: 64-bit

I can't either. Things work quite well in 2.6.34-3 and Windows 7. But not sure whether it is a kernel bug or not. Concerntrating.

  • Tecra A11-11H - Drivers for Windows XP 64bit

    Hi,
does anyone know where can I find the driver for the wireless card of Tecra A11-11H using Windows XP 64bit, does anyone have a full list of the hardware models Tecra A11-11H using as toshiba support website doesnt have driver for Windows XP 64bit.
    Many thanks

    Hi buddy,
Windows XP 64bit is not supported by Toshiba so there are no drivers for this OS. The 64bit version of XP was not very popular so probably you will not find all drivers on external pages. If you want XP I would recommend the 32bit version or Windows 7 Professional that has a virtualization mode for XP.
Tecra A11-11H has Intel WLAN card so check the Intel page directly. Maybe you can find a driver: [www.intel.com]
Furthermore if you install a hardware diagnostic tool like Everest or PC Wizard 2011 you can check the installed hardware and so you can search for drivers yourself.
But as I already wrote: Choose another OS ;)

How can i connect a Wireless Keyboard and a Trust mouse to a brand new Mac mini?

Go to the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar and select "Set Up Bluetooth Device". Follow the wizard.
Alternatively, if you haven't yet unboxed and setup the Mini, you can pair the keyboard to the Mini (and possibly the mouse). However, I would set up with a USB keyboard and mouse and pair the Bluetooth devices afterwards.

  • Can I connect to wireless networks far away?

How do I connect to wireless networks further away?
Is there a way I can improve my laptops wireless range so I can connect to wireless networks further away?

    Hi!
You can only connect to wireless networks that the notebook recognizes. If the notebook recognizes a wireless network, you can connect to them. If it doesnt recognize (because it is further away) you can not connect.
Furthermore you can not improve the wireless range from the laptop. You can do this on a WLAN router, not on the notebook.

On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.   In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.   You may find the following Apple Support article helpful.

  • Can't connect to Wireless N Router at N speed

I'm new to Mac and not very savvy with networking, but this has me stumped. I just recently purchased a new MacBook (Jan 2010). I had no real issue connecting to my home network through my Linksys WRT54G Router, but it only ran at 54Mbit/s. I purchased a new Linksys WRT120N Router, and still only connect at 54Mbit/s!
What's aggravating is the fact I can connect to my neighbor's Belkin Wireless N router at 144Mbit/s, so I know it's capable of higher connection speeds. In fact, my MacBook keeps dropping my secured home network connection and automatically connecting to his unsecured wireless network!
Any suggestion on how I can get my MacBook to connect to my Linksys Wireless N router at the speed it connects to my neighbors?
I also have a Windows Laptop with a Wireless G card, so I have to leave the setting on auto or I can't connect it the the network.
    Thanks for any help!

I spoke with Linksys Tech Support and they had me change from WPA to WPA 2. More info under About this Mac now reports:
    PHY Mode: 802.11n
    BSSID: 0:25:9c:5:73:61
    Channel: 9
    Network Type: Infrastructure
    Security: WPA2 Personal
    Signal / Noise: -45 dBm / -96 dBm
    Transmit Rate: 59
    MCS Index: 6
Where it was reporting PHY Mode 802.11g before, but still only shows a transmit rate of 59, over the transmit rate of 54 before.
Unfortunately, the Chat Session with Linksys was cut off before I could ask why, or how to fix it!
This is what my neighbor's router is reporting through More Info:
    BelkinN_Wireless582902:
    PHY Mode: 802.11n
    BSSID: 0:22:75:58:29:2
    Channel: 1,1
    Network Type: Infrastructure
    Security: None
    Signal / Noise: -79 dBm / -97 dBm
I noticed his Channel listed as 1,1 as mine is 9. Would this indicate he could possibly have a dual channel router and thus the higher speed?
When I run the Network Utility, it reports a Link Speed of 72Mbit/s where that was 54Mbit/s before changing to WPA 2. Is 72Mbit/s the best I can hope for out of this router? Thanks again...

  • MacBook Pro can't connect to wireless internet

I have a MacBook Pro that I have had from about 3 years now. It's been great but earlier this week, it wasn't able to connect to the internet here at my school (college). I didn't think too much of it because my schools internet is always spotty and goes down from time to time. Yet when I go on to my computer tonight nothing I do with my airport or computer will get my webpages to say anything other than "Server not found". I tried turning off my airport then back on and reselecting my network because usually that helps. It would say it connected and I would have full bars but still the same error message. I tried again, and when I did it this time, I did it from within the system/network preferences. When I did this, I watched the connection of my airport go red, then I would connect and it would go to yellow saying I had no IP address. I would then sit and wait and eventually it would fully connect giving me the green go-a-head. But, again when I would open up my internet, I would get the "Sever not found" message. I would then quit my firefox all together and tried again that way and still same massage. I restarted my computer and tried again...nothing. I became more concerned because my roommate could get on the internet just fine and I could use the wireless in my room through my phone. I was consered that now this was a matter with my computer and not just the internet, so to make sure I got out my ethernet cable and hooked it up with my connection in my room. This would work!
    So my question is...
My roommate brought up the possiblity that this problem is with some sort of chip in my computer that helps me connect wirelessly to the internet and that it has gone bad and needs to be replaced. It this so? or is there something else I need to be doing? (and I have been trying lots of thing) This is vital to me getting my work done because we are in the middle of the semester and I need my wireless!!
    Please help!
    Thanks!

    thats... odd
thats a real world IP address. So that means you dont have an actual router doing NAT.
It's also very unsecure. I HIGHLY advise tweaking your home network very soon. Without alot more info theres not much that I can really advise though.
You said your roommate can get on the wireless fine - what IP address does he/she get?
Also, i think you said if you plug in with a physical wire it works as well - what IP address there?
Do you know if you have an actual router? Or is this simply a cable or dsl modem?

  • Can I connect a wireless printer to two wireless networks

I searched and couldn't find an answer to this exact situation. The answers to similar questions didn't seem to work.
Can we share a wireless printer over two wireless networks without adding hardware or changing the wiring or doing complicated software modifications?
    Here is my set-up:
Cable Modem> Linksys Wireless Router “N” on the first floor > older AirPort Extreme “G” via ethernet cable on second floor > Laser Printer via USB Cable on the second floor, plus an AirPort Express to extend the area on the second floor. We have 2 MacBooks and 1 MacBookPro that connect to the internet via either of 2 wireless networks. Generally, for better connection, you choose “N” if you are on the first floor and “G” for the second floor.
Currently, if you want to print to the USB Printer, you just select it in the print dialog box. It does not matter if you are on Network “N” or Network “G.”
We just added a new wireless Printer that’s on the first floor. (No, I didn't read the directions, the printer screen said if there is a W?? button on your router, press it. I did and it automatically connected to the “N” network. It also has its own email address for printing without a computer, but that still doesn't solve this question.)
If you want to print to this printer, you must first change the computer’s AirPort setting to join the “N” network. If you don't, you still get the print dialog box, but eventually you will notice that nothing happens. The document just sits in the Printer’s queue.
Is there a way to get a computer on the “G” network to find the wireless printer on the “N” network without first changing networks?
Remember, it automatically finds the USB printer that is plugged into the “G” network router.

It used to be that if you wanted to wirelessly extend the range of a network, you'd have to set up a WDS. (WDS = Wireless Distribution System.) There was no "Extend a wireless network" option and no "Allow this network to be extended" checkbox—you'd have to fill out lots of WDS information yourself. It was sort of a pain.
Then, with the 802.11n AirPorts, Apple introduced the "Extend a wireless network" option, greatly simplifying the setup process. It accomplishes the same thing as a WDS, but it's easier to set up and has less overhead. However, it can only be used if every AirPort in the wireless network supports 802.11n.
Your Express may support 802.11n, but your Extreme is older and does not. So "Extend a wireless network" won't work for your network. That's why you got errors when you set the Express's "Wireless Mode" option to "Extend a wireless network." Instead, you'll have to do things the old-fashioned way* and configure the Extreme and the Express to be part of a WDS. Your network will still work as desired: the Express will rebroadcast the signal from the Extreme, and clients will connect to whichever station has the stronger signal. It's just that you'll be using the older WDS technology instead of the newer "Extend a wireless network" feature.
"Join a wireless network" is something different entirely. You'd use it if you wanted to connect to a network but not rebroadcast it. This could be useful when, for instance, your main router isn't an AirPort but you want to use AirTunes. In your case, however, this option wouldn't be very useful.
Look at [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2588489] for more information.
*Actually, the old-fashioned way would be to use modems. Or to forget about the internet and send snail mail instead.

  • 7410 All-in-1 "Can't Connect To Ntwk" when install post-moving from home ofc to work ofc wireless

Hi.  I've had this 7410 printer a few years now (hand me down from family member). It has worked fine in my home (wireless router) the whole time.
Recently, I moved it to the work office (across town) and have spent TWO nights (4 hrs each night) AFTER WORK to try and get it to correctly set-up.  It has never been this difficult with all the moves I've had from apartment to apartment and now to my home.  This shouldn't be any different, right?!
    This is where I'm stuck:
Setup Menu >> Network >> Wireless Setup Wizard ....yes, it finds the office network...  I select it.... then, I enter the WEP key.... correctly have done it 30 times (spelled it correctly, caps sensitive, etc)... hit Done, and the answer after its search is "can not connect to network".
I've read on HP's website and my manual (over and over and over) how to self-correct it... that is why I'm here now!
    Things I've done:
Setup Menu >> Network>> View Network Settings >>> Print Network Configuration Page.... it comes up with the IP, subnet and default gateway as 0.0.0.0
Setup Menu >> Network>> Restore Network Defaults.... no change in outcome
Unplugged and replugged printer.... no change in outcome
Unplugged and replugged modem and router (with the 30+ sec recommended wait before replug).... no change in outcome
I have checked the network strength via my personal laptop, my work laptop, my mobile devices... all say it is present and excellent.... yet not able to connect printer to it
I have checked the network via my work laptop, to see what is accessing it (can you overload a network?)... but it only has 6 items connected at this time (evening when no one here but me...2 printers already and 4 computers), which is even less than daytime access when we have all co-workers plugged into it also (healthcare facility... but still, always just 2 printers... THIS printer would be the 3rd)
Now, I ask you what is my next step?
PLEASE help soon, I need this printer to be up and working to help alleviate some office flow issues!!
I cannot keep spending my evenings reading all these bulletin posts, self-help FAQ's on the HP site without any good outcome for my scenario!!! I have other paperwork to be doing and this is keeping me from getting it done!
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello edPT2001.
Please, download and run the HP Print and Scan doctor from http://www.hp.com/go/tools
With this tool, you can see what channel is being used by the wireless router you're trying to connect your printer.
Run the tool and after the initial search for HP products, you might be able to go to Help menu - Show advanced info and then click the button Show wireless info. You will see a list of wireless networks detected by your computer and if you scroll to the right, you might be able to see the channel being used by the network. Find the network you're trying to connect your printer and let me know the channel number.
    Cheers!!
    Wixma.

  • Can not connect to wireless network any more, missing command

I can not connect to any wireless network. I have been having this problem for days. In desperation I installed 10.4 in a seperate HD. I clicked on the airport icon in the upper tool bar, selected my network name and clicked on "open internet connect" and I was connected, what?? I rebooted into 10.5 and tried the same thing again. But the panel that opens when you click on the airport icon has NO "open internet connect" command. A couple of weeks ago I reinstalled my OS. I have run diskwarrior and Techtool pro. Thinking back to the time I first installed 10.5 I don't remember ever seeing that command. Is Leopard compatible with the airport card? How do I get my "open internet connect" command back??

It sounds like a problem between hardware and software. When you select your network, does anything freeze or does nothing happen?
    Nothing happens.
Try this, open your Network Preference Pane, turn off airport off and delete the Airport connection by selecting "Airport" in the left pane and click the " - " button. Click on the "+" sign and create a new Airport connection. Hit Apply if it is available. Turn AirPort on and try to select your network and login if you can. The status should show Connected and an IP address should show up after of a couple of seconds.
I get "AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet". On a couple of occasions (over the last couple days) I got you are connected to the internet on IP 172.17.90.251. However when I tried to open a web page I got the banner you are not connected to the internet. Strange, the pref panet said I was the Safari said I was not. Certainly the IP address does not show up in a few seconds. I also have ComCast cable but I need to use the MetroFi-Free wireless so my wife has the bandwidth to do her company work using VPN.
