Tecra A5 PTA51E stops booting if AC power is not connected

Hello everybody, I have a problem with my Tecra A5 PTA51E.
The laptop stops booting if AC power is not connected (working with batteries). First I see the Windows Logo, but then I get black screen. Leds and fan are on. I have to restart the notebook 3-4 times to obtain a complete boot and see the Windows XP login window.
I tried to upgrade my bios, but I find the same problem also with the latest version (v2.10) installed.
I tried also to disable Toshiba Power save but nothing happened. Battery is charged and no alarm beep is playing.
Thanks for help.

Hello
It is not easy to say what the problem can be but I recommend you to set BIOS settings to default. I dont know if this will help because I presume that it is not hardware just some software problem.
Best way to test it to install OS using recovery media.

Trying to install Bootcamp on my late 2009 quad iMac withe Lion 10.7.3 but it keeps saying im not connected to internet, but i am.
    Any help please.

Let's see.... you don't install boot camp to begin with, you may be referring to downloading the Apple drivers.
Known issue and need to check and change proxy and network settings -- yu are still in mac OS X
You are in Windows and cannot connect to the internet ---- you are running Windows
The only time yu install is after Widnows is installed and then install Apple drivers which are
    BOOTCAMP.msi or BOOTCAMP64.msi usually just run Setup.exe

  • Envy DV7 laptop will not boot without the power cord being connected

My laptop won't boot on its own even when the battery indicator reads "fully charged (97%). If I have the power cord plugged into the computer (and the wall), it boots right away. Without the power cord, the "power indicator light" flashes once, the screen brightens to a lighter shade of gray, then it just shuts down.
I'm thinking I need to replace the battery but I thought it best to check with the experts first...................☺
    Thanks!!
ETA..........I just saw the post about power cord failure. My power cord is one of those affected and I will be filling out the request for a replacement. Unfortunately my serial number is apparently located inside the battery compartment. I'm wondering if my cord has overheated and caused this boot problem with my computer.

    Hello, @jksweeney
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that your having an issue with the power and your notebook. That you've applied to have the power cord replaced as it was part of the recall.
Please let me know when that has been taken care of if the issue remains. I will remain subscribe to this thread, so that I will be notified if you post again.

  • Why wont"t my 15 inch Power Book not connect to internet via airport

I have a 15 inch titanium power book and I recently installed an airport card. The computer recognizes it but I still can't get it to connect to the airport network. My new 17 inch powerbook is on the network and works just fine.
The 15 inch pb does not recognize the network.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Tony
    the first thing is
What kind of network do you want to connect with?
I mean do you use an airport station?
and you could try something like "iStumbler" to find a network
sometimes you have to use the right IP and Subnet mask
you should copy that from your 17" PB
or maybe the network router is using a "secret" network
so you have to "allow" your MAC-adress and/or your IP to connect to the network...
or maybe you did not pluged in the antenna ..?
I hope this could help you

  • Boot camp Assistant says Im not connected to the internet even though I am

When I get to the part where I need to burn a disk or save to external drive it says I can`t because I`m not connected to the internet even though I am and I have no idea what to do.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • I have a Macbook PRO and it stopped booting up. When I turn power on it just stays in white screen.

I have a Macbook PRO and it stopped booting up. When I turn power on it just stays in white screen. I have not dropped it anything. Please help.

Try holding alt when booting to select your hard drive to boot into, if that fails, do it again but select the "recovery" partition (If you have Lion or Mountain Lion)

  • Tecra R950-10V PT530E stops booting if USB port is used

I recently bought the mentioned notebook and everything works fine.
    But:
if the dynadock is connected to any USB Port the notebook stops booting after a few seconds.
The windows flag freezes ans nothing happens.
The same problem comes up if a USB Stick is connected to any USB Port of the R950.
If the DynaDock or the USB stick is attached to a different Notebook everything works.
So it must be something with the R950.
I already checked the boot device priority and and pushed the USB device to the end of the list without any result.
I hope somebody can help me.
    thx in advance!

    Hi
Remove the battery and the AC adaptor.
Then leave the notebook disconnected 2-3 hours.
Then additionally press and hold power button 30 sec long.
Then connect battery and AC adaptor once again
    Run an check again..
    Feedback would be appreciated

    Hi..
Try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
If that doesn't help, try Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
When you post, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Thanks

  • MacBook pro 8,2 late-2011 after series of kernel panics and video glitches stopped booting

Hello, friends... I am shattered, my MacBook Pro stopped booting today. It all started two days ago, when I came to India and got USB modem dongle from Tata Docomo. It was making Lion kernel panic whenever it was connected to Internet, but had no effect while disconnected or unplugged from the laptop. Then yesterday I had a kernel panic while playing a video in VLC, then while using Skype, and after a while I figured out the pattern, it would crash every time computer switched on the graphic card instead of the on-board CPU graphics. It would also crash with striped blue screen and misplace it horizontally. All this time I was looking for the solution on the internet, and ran two hardware tests, both normal and extended, both showed no issues, tried booting into safe mode getting the striped blue kernel panic screen after the progress bar filled. Resetting the ram also didn't help. Now it will not boot at all, only the hardware test is still working. After the logo screen in normal mode it just goes power off or hangs in grey screen for infinity.
Please, I need your help guys, I'm desperate, went to India for a few months and laptop breaking down almost straight away, and I'm also a dj, so its like a musical instrument to me, that I cannot work without...
Again - MacBook Pro 8,2 Late-2011, 2,4 ghz, 750gb hdd, 4gb ram, ati 1gb graphic card and running Lion 10.7.3, thanks!

Try the fixes here, take it back for a warranty call

  • Startup disk caused macbook to stop boot

I figured out when it stopped booting up. when I tried to start up with the leopard disk that came with my computer it never would work with the C button held down. i kept trying over and over and the it just stopped altogether and now it will not boot at all no matter what I try.

Hi. Exactly what do you mean by now it won't boot up at all? You say you were trying to boot off the Leopard DVD, why were you doing this. Was there another problem? What happens when you press the power button? Do you see or hear the things described in http://www.tekserve.com/service/mac-faq/cant-start/blinking-question-mark-beeps. php or http://www.tekserve.com/service/mac-faq/cant-start/blinking-symbol-folder.php or do you reach a blue screen like is described in http://www.tekserve.com/service/mac-faq/cant-start/blue-screen-stays-on.php?
Also, your signature says you're running Mac OS 10.4.10. Is this true or do you have the latest version of Tiger, 10.4.11?
Hope to hear from you soon!

I have a problem with my iPhone 5 stopped working the sleep / power and simultaneously refused to obey the HOME button. I can not use either one or the other. I can not enable or disable the device, display lights up when you plug the charger. same display works fine as it is surprising. or maybe someone knows what is the reason for this? is there any way to solve this problem?

More than likely its a hardware issue, I have never encountered such a problem and best bet is to just go get it replaced. If you have insurance on your device apple will replace it as long as there was no water damage, if you dont have insurance they will charge $200 more or less. Hope you get it fixed

  • Imac will not boot up after power failure

Does anyone know why i have to unplug the power cable from the back of my imac after every power failure at my home to get the imac to boot up.  I've tried resetting the surge protecter and unplugging there.  However, the only option is to unplug the cord from the back of the monitor/imac before it will boot up.  Any ideas or is this a known bug.

    You're effectively resetting the SMC.
If you're getting that many power outages you need to be using a UPS (Uninteruptible Power supply), not just a surge protecter.
Power interruptions at the wrong time can cause directory damage or even physical damage to the Hard Drive if the heads were reading or wriing at the time.

"My Mac was stopped suddenly by a power cut. Could this be relevant?"
    Sounds very relevant.
Do you have access to another computer with Numbers installed?
If so, do your files open properly on that computer?
If so, then the problem is your computer itself, which is best posted in a different forum.

  • Can't format cloned SSD that stopped booting in my MacBook Pro. Disk Utility always posts an error with mount and unmount issue. Any clues?

Is there any way I can reformat a cloned SSD that was used to upgrade my original HDD?
It suddenly stopped booting (a progress bar always appeared followed by a shutdown)
I've tried to reformat the SSD via USB case, and using Disk Utility, but it keeps on send error message with unmounting issues.
Any clues as how to overcome this problem?
    Thx
    Nuno

Have you connected that drive to another computer and if you have can you do anything with it on the other computer. If not then the drive has failed.
