Tecra A8-104: How to create a second partition on HDD

Hello.
i had to use the recovery disk, and i deleted by mistake my initial (two) partitions of the HDD. :(( now i have only one.
Can somebody tell me how can i fix that?
I want 2 partitions not one. 10x

Hello
If operating system is already preinstalled and configured you can now use third part software to split HDD and create second partition. The best tool for doing this is Partition Magic.
If you want to install OS again using delivered recovery DVD there you can find option for doing this. Start notebook and press C button. Keep it down for few seconds. This will force your notebook to use CD/DVD driver as first boot device. Simply follow the menu on the screen.

  • How to create a second partition on the harddisk?

    Hello To All Members!
I recently got some viruses on my laptop. So I had to use my recovery cd to recover my system.
Now the problem is that I asked me for the partition where are the files which are being extracted. I marked it to 30GB.
So, windows is working fine but my Rest of 50GB will not be shown.
I thought that the recovery cd will make a new second partition as well, but it did not. Now how to make some other partitions?
Second question related to first one is how much time i can use this recovery disk. I mean will the windows remain genuine?????
For the partition problem i dont know of some possible solutions cause i needed three partitions, 1st of 30GB(Windows Default) and other two of 25GB.
The Best Solution coming in my mind is to make any windows ME or 98 bootable cd and run fdisk to create the remaining partitions.
But it is makes some new questions in my mind. Do i have to use a recovery cd again? If yes than I will not use this process again cause it will ask for partition to extract files of windows and i will choose 30GB again.
And again it will remove additional partitions.
Please help me and clear the questions coming in my mind..

    Hi there,
do know for the UlltimateBootCD4Win? This from CD bootable WinXP-BartPEedition with additional tools gives you the ability to make such things like partitioning, backup or formatting your HDD.
It has many more applications which help you to maintain your system without booting your original OS.
So I think that this CD will solve your partitioning issues.
    Heres a link: www.ubcd4win.com/
Just try it and tell me your opinion.
Nice weekend and greetings from the sunny south ;)

  • How to create and drop partitions automatically?

How to create and drop partitions automatically?
The environment is Oracle 10g(10.2.0.3) on the RHEL4.0 system.
I want to partition the MESSAGE table by date (NUMTODSINTERVAL(1,'DAY') ). One partition per day. Because the table is huge, only 2 partitions (today and yesterday's data) are necessary to be kept online. All the partitions that earlier than the previous day will be backed up and then dropped. I want to make the partition creating and dropping jobs run automatically. How to do it?
    Thank you

With 10g, you need to do that yourself. I prefer to create a "buffer" of future partitions - in case the job whose task it is to add new partitions gets held up or stuck. Or the job queue is full due to some problem and it does not get the chance to execute in time.
I dislike your partitioning criteria. I prefer using the date directly and not mangling it to something else. If a specific day has a large volume of data, then another option is to use hourly date ranged partitions. With local partitioned indexes and the date time range used for querying, this can be quite effective performance wise.
As for partitioning maintenance - I use a custom written partitionManager PL/SQL package that provides an interface for adding daily and hourly partitions to a table. Input parameters are for example name of the table, start date and the number of partitions to add. Similarly it provides interfaces for aging partitions - again by specifying a table and a date-time to use as the starting point, back into time, for removing old partitions.
I typically call this code from the actual application code itself - so before a new partition will be used for example, the app code will first ensure that it has a partition to use. This is safer than a separate job as the dependency is resolved where and when it is needed - and not done as a separate task.
For example - you should have a procedure/package that provides an app the means to log a message into your MESSAGE table. As part of an autonomous transaction, this procedure can check if the required partition exists, before attempting to insert a message into the table.
Where this approach is not possible, a DBMS_JOB can be used to create future partitions - but as I mentioned, rather have it add a bunch of future (empty) partitions in case something goes pear shape with the job mechanism.

I'm not an expert, but I partitioned the C: drive and made a partition for Windows 8. It worked perfectly as a multi-boot setup.
A word of caution...Make sure that you want to make it a permanent change. When I removed the Win 8 partition and tried to restore my system to factory settings, I could not get the F2 during restart to work. F2 now brings up the multi-boot screen. So I tried to restore using the DVD Restore Set I made before I did anything to the partitions. I was able to boot to the DVD Restore Set by using the F12 key during restart and selecting the BDDVD drive. It looked like it was going to work, but after it loaded the minmum Windows files and I clicked on Restore, I got an error stating that the partition had changed and I could not restore.
I contacted tech support and they are sending me a disc to restore the system.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd like to use the SSD for installing Windows 8. It seems to have about 25GB free. Isn't that a better place to install the OS? I am not sure why the bigger drive is marked as C: and the small, faster one as D: :-(

  • How to create a second Window ?

    Hello,
I need to create a second Window, but I can't find anything on how to create this, I only find things like "How to create an empty Window" or "How to create a HTML Window" (here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappsflex/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7e0a. html ), but I need to create Window with Flex components inside (Like the main Window),
The window that I need to create is just here to get a user input (an Uri) and return it to a method on the main window.
Any idea of how can I do that ?
    Thank you !

Use the Flex Window class (which is described in the "Creating an  mx:Window" section in the documentation you cited). You can then add Flex components to it.

  • How to create a second OracleBIApplication in WebLogic for OBIEE 11g?

I want to create a second OracleBIApplication in WebLogic for OBIEE 11g. The default one is called "coreapplication". I can create a new one but it doesn't show up in Enterprise Manager. Anyone can help?

I have been trying to create a second OracleBIApplicatino in WebLogic for OBIEE 11g without success. I don't want to end up installing it twice as it is going to consume a lot of resources and also because I want to have a single WebLogic Domain. Has anyone faced the same situation?
What about deploying the "analytics" web application as a new web application with a different context-root (e.g. analytics_test)? I am also trying but I can't make it work. Anyone available to help?

  • How to create a second portalgroup when adding a User to a coll.role

    Hi there,
when the system creates a room, it creates also the portal group room_***_main.
Is it possible, to let the system create a second group like room_***_main-adv automatically?
We want to add a new template with a second document folder in a collaboration template. This second folder should be protected by a new collaboration- and also by a new portal-group.
Documents without a second protected portal group would be found in the Enterprise Search, but they shouldn't !
Now we want that the system add the new portalgroup to a member automatically, when the member gets the coll.-role for this folder.
Is there a solution for this problem?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
you may want to try the SOA forum with BPM related questions. If you create an empty row then - if this row has validation applied - you of cource need to delete it. However, if you add a new row after the empty row then you need to find this row by its index or similar as it no longer is the current row (so just using the delete operation of the DC doesn't work)

  • How To Create the HP_TOOLS partition manually?

    Hello,
According to HP, you can create the HP_TOOLS partition manually with type FAT32 and make the partition name HP_TOOLS. I installed Windows 8 on my MSata Drive after I upgraded it and for some reason you can't install the HP_TOOLS on those drives it always gives an error. So When you download the HP UEFI Support Environment from the drivers/software from HP, it will install it on the Hard Drive which I use as a backup drive now.
However, when you restart the computer and hit F2, you do not have the full feature to even run a system check, I have to boot it from a USB instead. How do I fix this problem so I can do a "Custom" install back of the HP Tools and be able to use it without any issues?
What I have done was create a partition on my msata with 2.01GB like it created on my HDD. I made it Fat32 and named it like it said HP_TOOLS. I then copied over the Folder from the HDD to the MSATA Drive. Still it does not work. Any advise would greatly be appreciated!

  • How to create multi volume partition

    Hi
I'm trying to figure out how I can create one single partition accross multiple disks so that I basically can extend the partition at the moment I'm running out of diskspace.  The disks that I use are western digital mybook daisychained via firewire 800.
I tried to find option in diskutil but couldn't find it, possible that this might be doable on the command line but I'm too unfamiliar with it.
    Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

The only way to do what you want with Mac Extended format is to use RAID to stripe a volume across multiple disks. However, it is not dynamic in that you cannot add space later in the way you describe.
I feel I must add that in addition to missing "dynamics" and a few other disadvantages, RAID 0 is highly dangerous due to zero fault tolerance. If only one of the partitions/drives goes bad, none of the data on all of the partitions can be accessed anymore!
fvwessel, you better locate large portions of your data, such as videos, music, photos, onto separate, individual and independent drives. It'll make it safer, and typically all apps are supporting it.

  • How to creat a recovery partition

i mistakely delecte my recovery partition without creating a recovery disc and right now i want to retore system to factory setting. Can any one help me on how to creat recovery partion or if downloadable how can i download it or any solution on to recover my system back to its original factory settings.

    Hi,
There is no download of the Recovery Partition available, however this partition will be re-created when you reinstall the OS using Recovery Discs.
As you don't have these, you can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

  • How to create a third partition without messing up Boot Camp partition?

I have been running a dual-partition Boot Camp setup (with Mac OS 10.5 and Vista) on my Macbook Pro with no hitches for the past year or so. Recently, I have decided that I want to create a third partition to boot into Windows XP. Of course, Boot Camp doesn't let me do this, so I am trying to do it manually by resizing my Mac OS partition and devoting the remaining space to a new partition. However, when I try to resize my Mac OS partition in Disk Utility, it warns me that "Changing the partition map may make this disk unbootable using Windows."
So I am wondering: is there any way for me to create a new Windows partition without messing up my preexisting Boot Camp setup?

I found this blog post shortly after the first BootCamp beta was out. I successfully split mine into three partitions per the instructions. However, since Leopard now lets you live partition your disk, you can probably do the partitioning via Disk Utility instead of using diskutil in Terminal.

  • How to create a FAT32 partition on the internal HDD?

I'd like to set up a partition that can be shared between OSX and Windows.
I tried using a GParted LiveCD, but then OSX won't recognize the partition. I haven't installed Windows yet, but I've read that formatting the partition from Windows will prevent OSX from recognizing it as well. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you are reformatting your internal drive, you will loose your OS X install and have to re-install. That being said, boot from your os x install disc and reformat the first partition as _free space_ for your Windows install then install OS X on the second partition formatted as HFS+. After the install and boot of the OS X install, restart with your Windows disc and install on free space. It will format the partition for you as NTFS or Fat32 if you choose. Mac's can read and write to both. Fat32 is native and NTFS requires MacFuse and the ntfs-3g plugin...both free.
After the install you will need to set up a boot option. I have used Super Grub Disc
    http://www.supergrubdisk.org/
and booted the partitions seperatly. There are other BootLoader programs that will allow you to choose which partition to boot from. A really nice one with a great GUI is Cameleon

  • How to create a MBR partition in Lion without Boot Camp Assistant?

Does anybody know a way to create a MBR partition in Lion other than Boot Camp Assistant way? In terminal or some 3rd party software?
    Thank you

To answer the question actually asked, the command line utility fdisk (run as "sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0" for the appropriate disk0) can create and edit MBRs, even if the disk has a GPT partition table.
You need to verify that the MBR and the GPT partition tables agree with each other - at least as far as the start and end blocks of all the partitions they contain. OS X ignores the MBR. Disk utility will try and write a "correct" MBR, or just punt, and create an MBR with a single partition spanning the entire disk as a "protective"  partition.
Booting an OS using the MBR (i.e. - Windows) when it doesn't correctly describe the disk partitions it contains is a recipe for disaster.
rEFIt (a Mac boot manager) has a couple of useful tools here. Partition Inspector will display both GPT and MBR partition maps. On boot, there's a tool that will copy the first four partitions from the GPT to the MBR (basically, a smarter version of what Disk Utility tries to do).
There's also a third party utilllity called gdisk that is like fdisk, but for gpt partition tables.

  • How to create a second Virtual Machine alongside my existing XP-Mode over Win7-Pro 64-bit

At present I have XP-Mode installed over Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
I want to add another virtual machine to the same Virtual PC, so that I shall be able to use it to boot the second virtual machine from Acronis Bootable CD-ROM based on WindowsPE 3.1.
I suppose I will not start both XP-Mode and the Acronis Bootable media simultaneously, to prevent overload of memory etc., but still I would like the two virtual machines to co-exist on the same Virtual PC over Win7-Pro 64-bit.
So, how do I go about installing/configuring the second virtual machine?
