Tecra M10-1H4 - Changing shared video RAM value?

Hi there,
I have a Tecra M10, with the standard 2GB of RAM, I also added an extra 256mb in the available RAM slot. Can I change the shared Graphics RAM value? In the properties of XP Pro I can see it is set at 1024MB which is silly since I only have 2.25GB in the machine.
I can't seem to locate any settings even in the BIOS, where I thought I could change this. It is a mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chip. Any help is appreciated...
I also seem to get some horrible slow downs on the laptop too, when I have about 10 different windows open, (be it the same app or different ones) when I switch to a different window/app on occasion I have to wait for the laptop to redraw the new window very slowly?
I've updated the driver too - claims i'm on: 6.14.10.4953
Cheers
TC

Hi buddy,
No, you cant change the value of video memory. Everything will be controlled automatically and there is no value in BIOS or display driver where you can change this.
Video RAM depends on RAM you use on your notebook. Increasing system memory the values for total available graphic memory, decided video memory and shared system memory will be higher and higher.
So, to get more video RAM upgrade your notebook with more system RAM.

  • How do you change multiple 'Video Kind' values at once?

    Hello,
first of all, sorry if this has already been asked, but I tried searching for a straight answer in here and in other forums without any luck..
.. but I was wondering if there is a way to select multiple videos, and change their video kind to something else, all at once(eg. from Movie to Music Video)...
...When I select a group of videos and click get info, it doesn't give me the option to change the video kind, so I've had to change each one, one at a time, (which gets very tiresome :P)...
...so is there a way to change multiple 'Video Kind' values at once, or should I pray that it becomes available in the next update of iTunes?
Pentium 4 3.0 ghz Windows XP

You can't do it right now. Wait for the next update, and hope it's there.
For the moment, I suggest selecting Get Info on one song, changing the setting, then hitting the next button at the bottom to go right to the Get Info for the next song. You can rapidly change lots of these that way.

Over the past few weeks, I have tried to change my dedicated video RAM in the BIO's, but in the advanced section, it does not contain a spot for video RAM, I have tried other tutorials on Youtube, but they don't seem to work neither, is there any way to change my video RAM, because I want to play the latest games, and i'm always lacking on video RAM, with my 512 Mb of video RAM.

  • Bootcamp Dedicated Video RAM

    Hey guys,
I have a 2012 13'' inch macbook pro. This has the Intel HD 4000 graphics card. I have upgraded it to 16GB of RAM and and have windows 8.1 installed on a bootcamp partition.
Currently on my windows side it says that I only have 32mb of dedicated video ram.  On the apple side it says I have 512mb.  I would like to increase the dedicated video RAM on the windows side to fully use what my computer is capable of.  Normally in a windows computer to change your video RAM amount you go into the BIOS section, but since this is on a mac it doesn't have one.
I have been through about a billion tech support calls so here is a list of the things I've tried.
    What I've tried:
         1.  Using Refind to access BIOS on this.
-The new version doesn't seem to do much for windows as the only bootup option I am given is to bootup normally
         2.  Force the intel HD graphics driver 15.33.30.64.3958 to download and install
-Forcing it still doesn't have it run properly.  I've contacted intell and they say their drivers don't always work on laptops
         3.  Using parallels
-Unfortunately parallels runs extremely slowly when you're trying to use 512 mb of dedicated video ram for some reason
Any help, or a direction to go in would be greatly appreciated.

You may not need to do all this. Please read http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033984.htm .

  • Can I change the graphic card on Toshiba Satellite S55-A5295 or add more dedicated video RAM?

Hello, I am wondering if it was possible to change my graphics card. Currently its using the basic (Intel HD Graphics 4000/Family). If thats not possible then I'd also like to know if it was possible to dedicate more video RAM since it currently has 64MB out of the total 1696 avaliable graphics memory. And before someone mentions the BIOS option sadly its not shown there. Please let me know if I have any options!

There is no option to change the GPU on this laptop model. As per memory sharing, it is done automatically by the chipset sharing around 10-20% of the physical memory to the graphics memory.
What will you be using the higher ram?
Is it gaming, media editing (video / photo), or 3D editing?

  • How can I change the order in which my shared video podcasts are listed?

I go into front row, video, and then access the shared video on another machine. Under that menu I have a video podcast option and then under that the list of my actual podcasts.
The list seems to be ordered alphabetically by title. I'd rather order the list by date. Since they are podcasts. And they are usually date oriented.
The bizarre default ordering when combined with the fact that not enough of the podcast title is shown makes it impossible to find anything through this interface. At least if it were ordered by date, I'd have a chance to get to the new or old stuff.
Anybody know how to change this?

not really solved. just cleaning up my list of unresolved questions.

  • A68HM-E33 + AMD A4000. How change video RAM size?

I build PC on motherboard A68HM-E33 and CPU AMD A4000 with integrated videoadapter AMD Radeon HD 7480D and RAM DDR3-1600 4 Gb. Operation system Linux 64bit using only 3GB,  Video RAM size 768MB. I need less then 128 MB
How change video RAM size in this motherboard BIOS?
    Thanks.

It does not appear that you can change VRAM size on that MB. I downloaded the manual and there was nothing in BIOS that even came close to allowing any changes for it.
"Video RAM size 768MB. I need less then 128 MB"
Where do you find that number?

  • How is performance on Macbook Pro 15" 2ghz 128mb video ram?

Is anyone running aperture with the 128mb video ram?
Trying to decide if the approx $500 difference between models is really worth it for the ram. I know there's a little more hd space and a tick faster cpu speed but I'm mainly concerned with the ram question.
    Thanks to all,
    Larry

You get 25% more hard drive, 8% faster CPU, double the VRAM for $500 if you are comparing stock systems only. However if you are building to order the price difference will be much less than $500 the way the BTO options price out. And, you should want 2 GB of RAM. To achieve that with the cheaper MBP you either need to throw away the 512 and buy two DIMMs instead of just one or pay Apple $500 instead of the $300 if you had bought the better MBP.
For a MBP with 120 GB hard drive, 2 GB RAM BTO cost is:
2.0 GHz MBP with 128 MB VRAM, $2699
2.16 GHz MBP with 256 MB VRAM, $2899
$200 difference, not $500. Of course buying third party RAM will change it some. Either way I think max HD size and max RAM is important and at less than $300 actual difference I consider the faster box a smarter purchase. Best value of all is the 17" MBP with its 8x DVD and FW800.
Note that Apple and graphics apps clearly are sharing more processing with the GPU as time goes on. IMO it behooves us to get fastest available (at reasonable price) GPUs for the future, not because of any perceived performance difference today.
This thread mirrors comments I made a year+ ago. Look what happened to folks who bought G5s and saved a few bucks because at the time better GPUs BTO mostly affected only video/3D. Then Surprise! Aperture came along and knocked multiprocessor G5s without upgraded cards to their knees. Further surprise, Apple - IMO incredibly and unethically - refused to facilitate card upgrade purchases to folks who had purchased Apple's best Macs, now lamed by an Apple app.
Personally when I buy it is always with fastest available (at reasonable price) GPUs; just trying to get max graphics performance which historically has always been challenging to hardware setups.
IMO it is essential to buy for the future, not for today. Today will be over before a new box is even delivered...
There are many earlier threads that discussed this that you can find by backtracking through the thread list. One is <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=478038&tstart=100>.

im using my mac for gaming and need some dedicated video ram, I saw other computers like asus or Toshiba that were able to boot into windows bios and change there ram as dedicated ram, bootcamp has no bios so im wondering if there any third party applications of something built into bootcamp that would allow me to change a setting like that.

  • How do you increase shared video memory?

I own an iMac with 256mb of shared video memory and have been dying to find a way of making the computer use more of my 8gb of RAM for video memory than it currently is (specifically for an improved gaming performance). Does anyone know of a way? Thanks in advance.

Shared video memory? What's that?  Your computer has ram, your video card has ram.  You can change the amount of ram in your computer.  But your video card is what it is.  It cannot be changed.
I think what your want is more ram for your computer.  Go to OWC to see possible choices for your model.  You don't have to buy there if you don't want (but I always recommend them).  But at least you will see what choices are available to you.

  • Upgrading Video Ram/Videocard?

I only have 128mb VRAM (Radion x1600) video card, i want more video ram, is it posable to upgrade it on my iMac?
How would you do anything like this?
I have no idea about graphics cards, so i need help, i just want all the option i can do to increase my Video memory, like how to do it, where to buy the things .ect.
If anyone can help me that would be GREAT, i really want to upgrade Video memory so i can run games better and stuff...
    Thanks!

The iMac is like a laptop. You get what you get when you get it. With the exception of RAM, you don't change the parts.
Macs have decent resale value, so selling an iMac in good condition to get a more recent one probably won't cost you much more than getting an upgrade for a large desktop computer with lots of bays and slots. Plus the newer iMac gets you (in addition to the better video hardware) a faster CPU, faster system bus, probably a bigger hard drive, and maybe a better display. And a well-integrated system that is optimized to work nicely.

  • CPU Upgrade for Tecra M10-13Z PTMB0E-01400LGR

Hi, i want to upgrade my Tecra M10 with the max. CPU supported. Actually i have the Core Duo Prozessor T5670 installed. Can anybody give me an info about the capabilities of the M10?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Astra

Generally speaking PauPau is right. What I want to know is follow: why do you want to upgrade CPU?
Tecra M10 is typical business notebook designed for office work. It is very mobile due to docking facility. The RAM can be upgraded up to 8GB so with maximum RAM upgrade you can have very powerful notebook so I dont see any reason for CPU upgrade.
With maximum RAM and well configured operating system you will have very powerful machine.
Please note: CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba so such step is always risky. The whole cooling system, BIOS and hardware platform is designed for certain CPU so changing it you will not have balanced hardware platform anymore.
My advice for you is: dont do this.

  • Is it possible to change the video card of a pavilion g7-1075dx?

So, I have an HP Pavilion g7-1075dx Notebook with Windows 7. I'm an avid gamer and wish to play the newest games. However, there's one problem thats keeping me from doing so. Alot of the newer games require newer video/graphics cards. This particular laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. The newest games seem to require ATI Radeon HD 4850 and above. This is the only thing thats keeping me from playing games like Starcraft II on the highest settings OR in the case of Star Wars: The Old Republic, it almost keeps me from playing the game, period, due to the graphics being too much for my current card to handle, causing massive lag. I was hoping I could change the video card. Upgrade. However, i've heard that with most laptops or notebooks you can't upgrade anything other than the RAM. I'm hoping anyone on here can help me out and tell me if it is possible to get a new video card for my laptop. We don't have a desktop computer so this laptop is my only hope for a long time to play newer PC games.

Alright, let me put this in a simpler message: Does anyone know if it is possible to change the video card currently in my laptop, the HP Pavilion g7-1075dx, for a newer and better one. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 to ATI Radeon HD 4850 or higher.

  • Blue Screen of death on Tecra M10 runing Win XP

My Toshiba Tecra M10 has been running like a dream for three years never once hiccuping
    UNTIL the other day.
My Toshiba Laptop is constantly cycling with a BSoD - then i goes to start windows - it looks like it is going to succeed - it gets to the password log on screen - then a few blank screens - then BSoD again repetitively
I am running XP Pro SP 3
I could not manage to get my laptop to stop doing this so i pulled the battery and then the power lead and started it up again then when it went to BSoD i took a picture of the screen with my Digital Camera luckily i have one that focuses instantly and take the picture instantly too
    the ERROR is
    BAD_POOL_CALLER
    Tech Info
    STOP 0x000000C2 (0x00000043, 0xC38C0000, 0x00000000. 0x00000000)
I have not changed anything on my PC recently and i have tried all the safe mode start up's and last known good configuration but it still cycles round and round and round
this laptop is not connected to anything and is bog standard with one 2Mb memory module in it
the last known good configuration does not work either nor does any of the other 'safe' options
So i slipped out the HDD and tried booting from my XP CD - not the Toshiba recovery one i have not tried that one in the Laptop yet.
Rather unsurprisingly with no HDD in the Laptop i got a different error
    STOP 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
which is i believe inaccessible boot device - i know it cant see the HDD as it is sitting on my desk but would expect it to boot from the XP CD.....NO?
I tried setting all the boot parameters to default as well - no difference
With the HDD in - the laptop boots as far as the windows user log in screen without any problem but does not stop at that screen - after a few blank screens the BSoD comes up and off it goes again.
In the advanced boot options I changed the auto start on error parameter so it does not loop forever. and that did stop it looping for one boot cycle...........seems changing that parameter is not a permanent change
Then i went into the BIOS and changed the SATA Controller mode from AHCI to IDE and the STOP 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) error is gone now and the pc goes on trying to install Windows until i needs to see the HDD and then gives up trying to install XP with a NO HHD error (the HHD is of course sitting on my desk) so that was an expected valid error.............
putting the HDD back in without changing the BIOS back brings up the STOP 0x000000C2 (0x00000043, 0xC38C0000, 0x00000000. 0x00000000) error
    HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP Please

OK *AN UPDATE* after rebuilding the TECRA...............................*SADLY NOTHING LOGICAL HERE*
With the 160GB drive in (original TECRA drive) C2 ERRORS
With a GOOD 80GB drive in (original Satellite drive XP Pro) 7B ERRORS
With a New 1TB drive with XP Pro installed 7B ERRORS
I DID RECONFIGURE THE BIOS TO BOOT FROM THE USB DRIVE
With no drive in the TECRA and any of the above drives in a USB to SATA CADDY 7B ERRORS
Even with a drive in the TECRA and booting from the USB drive i got 7B ERRORS
With an XP PRO CD in 7B ERRORS
With The ULTIMATE BOOT CD in it will run a memory test, a DOS in NTFS prompt, will run CHKDSK and will do a few other things APART FROM do a SYSTEM RECOVERY OR RUN the Ultimate CD (WINDOWS) application when it will generate 7B ERRORS
Since i had taken a full back up of the 160GB drive and since i was totally exhausted mentally and was running out of ideas there was nothing to lose by trying the Toshiba Product Recovery CD
BIG PROBLEM although it said Microsoft Windows XP Professional on the CD when it loaded it said it was about to re-install Windows Vista.
So i stopped that had a cup of tea and tried a few more things some of them listed above.
Finally totally out of any logical ideas and with absolutely nothing to loose and thinking which Toshiba i7 to purchase ('sOUCH) i thought well if this CD recovers to Vista i can then try re-installing XP Pro if the Vista OS will boot cleanly.
SO i put in the Product Recovery CD and went for another cup of tea..............................................A ND i now *seem* to have a working XP PRO system.
So the TECRA seems to have risen from the dead........................in truly miracle like fashion
The Plan before BSoD was to put the 1 TB HDD in the TECRA (it is now in the slower Satellite M105) (with a 2GB memory upgrade on the way) and to upgrade the memory on the TECRA to 4GB.
So before i start rebuilding the TECRA with all the software and files on it that i need (a few days work at least) i *might* try putting in the 1TB drive to see if it runs with that drive in it now.

  • Using a function to change Netstream video size.

    Hi folks,
forgive me I am new to script in Flex.  I got an Application that has two scripted functions.  The first is called at creationComplete and sets up a netconnect/netstream video playback.  And a second that is fired when a button is clicked, which sets the application to Full Screen.  What I want to do is resize the video at the same time.  For testing purpose I am using hard coded values that match my monitor size.
The problem I am having is that the code I wrote to change the video size spits out an error "1120: Access of undefined property vid."  - Is it possible to have one function access the vairibles of another function?
