Tecra M11 - Card reader and corrupt images

When I put an xD card into the Tecra M11's front slot, the pictures that it downloads are corrupted. When downloading through an external xD card reader (e.g. the camera itself) the images are okay. Here is an example of a corrupted image:

Here is the same image downloaded from the camera through USB:

Is this a Windows 7 (32 bit) driver problem (I can't find any driver updates in the awful driver website that takes me down numerous blind alleys) or could it be a hardware problem?

PS What is it about this forum that keeps throwing my cursor into the subject box as I'm typing in the message field?

Hi,
It is the Olympus xD card that came with the camera. I have never formatted it, and never had any problems using any other card reader.
I'll try the links again for the driver. What I tend to find happens with the drivers site, is that it identifies my laptop, tells me there is a driver for hardware feature X and my OS, provides me with a link to "download this driver", and when I follow the link it takes me to a much higher level on another Toshiba site where I have to sift through hundreds of drivers for every other model of hardware, none of which are named in a way that makes it easy to identify what I need. For example, it told me there was a wireless LAN driver update recently, then sent me to the site where the drivers are named after the wireless LAN chipset, with about five different chipsets to choose from. Why does it send me to all those choices when it started out knowing everything it needed to know about my model laptop? So, I would not say it is "easy".
I'll give it another go though.

I am trying to download Firefox 3.6 to use on my Mac OS X version 10.3.9. Three attempts and I continue to get "mounting failed" and "corrupt image". Help please?

Firefox 3.6 requires at least OS X 10.4, the last version of Firefox that worked on OS X 10.3.9 was Firefox 2.0.0.20 which is available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/

  • T450s -- Display, NGFF SSD, Smart Card Reader, and m.2 SSD slots

I'm looking to order a T450s and have a few questions about options when configuring the order:
1080 Display -- Does anyone know if the 1080 display (non-touch) is made by LG or AUO or someone else? There was extensive discussion about the T440s, and people got different brands and the AUO was the preferred brand.
16GB m.2 NGFF SSD -- If I remove this option, and want to add a 3rd party compatible NGFF SSD later, can I do this?
3rd m.2 SSD Slot -- The options are None, 3rd m.2 SSD slot, or Smart Card Reader. If I select the Smart Card Reader option, can I later remove the Smart Card Reader and use it as a 3rd m.2 SSD slot? Or, if I select 3rd m.2 SSD slot and later want to use it for a Smart Card Reader, can I buy a Smart Card Reader and plug it into the slot?

Lenovo uses different FHD diplays for the T450s: one by AU Optronics and the other by LG Display.
However, the T450s uses a different LG display than the T440s. The LG screen of the T450s ("
LP140WF3-SPD1") seems to be much better than the LG screen of the T440s.
If you remove the 16GB M.2 SSD option, you can add a M.2 SSD later.
If you have a device with two M.2 slots, you can't use a M.2 SSD and WWAN at the same time.
If you have a device with three M.2 slots, you can only use single-sided M.2 SSDs in the third M.2 slot.
Both the SmartCard reader and the third M.2 slot are attached to the mainboard via a flexible flat cable.
If you choose the SmartCard reader, the warranty might be lost if you want to use the third M.2 slot, because you have to replace some parts that aren't so-called CRUs (consumer replaceable units).

Sorry for answering my own question kinda of. I just got my first IMac 3 weeks ago so I am still learning and exploring how to do stuff on my IMac.
Nope in Windows XP it mounts as a network HD under "my computer" and you can copy files to and from any of the cards in printer card reader. It even shows up fine under paralles as network HD drive letter Z:. Does not matter if the printer is connected via USB or Ethernet.
Btw after my first post I started to play with it. I figure a way to manually mount Hp printer's card readers confirmed to work on 2 different printers models Laserjet 2840 and Photosmart 3310. This trick only seems to work if you have your printer connected via ethernet tho. Goto the "Finder" then "Go" then "Connect to a server" and enter "cifs://IP of your printer" dont enter the quote and replace ip of your printer with the ip address of your printer. Btw you must remove the PW protect from printer for this to work. Not sure why if you have a password why it will not work.
So if this work around works to manually mount the card reader in OS X is their a way to make a script or a short cut for mounting the card reader without going and entering the IP of the printer every time I want to use the card reader?

On the Support Homepage is no driver oder anything given for this Notebook with Win 7.
Can anyone help me with that?
    Tahnks.
PS: it was not un upgrade version.

    hi at all,

the card reader is now working with card reader criver for win vista.
Does no one know how to fix this?!

  • I connected a USB card reader and can't see it.

I connected a USB card reader and cant find it to download the pictures on the card.

To tell you the truth, I don't know.  I am pretty knew to Apple products.  I did get the card reader to work.  All I did was leave the card reader connected and pulled the card out.  I waited a little bit and then reinserted and a pop up window came up with all my pictures.  I don't know why it didn't work the first few times I tried it.  Thanks for the reply babowa.

  • My USB CF Card reader is not mounting on my 2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5 iMac anymore. It was last week and worked fine to get pictures from my camera. Now it won't mount. I have tried another card reader and the same problem exists. Also tried different cards..

    Hi
My USB CF (Compact Flash) Card reader is not mounting on my 2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5 iMac anymore.
Last week it worked fine to get pictures from my camera but now it won't mount at all.
I ejected it in the correct way rather than just disconnecting it but now i cannot get it to remount!
I cannot even see it in the disk utility or system profiler.
I have tried another card reader (a brand new one bought today) and the same problem exists. I've also tried different cards to see if that made a difference and they still arent being picked up on the Mac.
I have done all the usual things like rebooting, unplugging all other USB devices and then trying but nothing has worked.
I'm a photographer and I'm at my wits end here. I know the cards are fine as i have been using them without issue and they are also new.
Note: If I plug the camera in directly to the Mac, the Mac picks it up just fine as it always has done. Its just the card readers that it wont pick up anymore.
If anyone has any ideas at all other than the following (my so called friends advice) you'd earn my undting love:
    Buy a PC
Use the camera (Thats why i bought the reader in the first place - importing RAW files from the camera is SLOW!)
Replace your CF cards (I have three 8GB cards two of which i had never used til today and they dont work either!)
Buy a new card reader (this is the 5th one in two days - none work on the Mac)
    Many thanks in advance!
    LIsa

OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences  - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount.....

  • Tecra M2 - Card reader doesn't work on Windows 7

    Hi All
I've installed Win 7 on my TECRA M2 and everything worked fine at once ... except for one thing! The SD card reader is not recognized (worked well with XP).
    Any hint please ?
    Thanks in advance
    JP

Tecra M2 is very old notebook model and it won't be Win7 supported.
In my opinion you should be happy that Win7 works well on this old notebook model. I cannot imagine card reader is so important and you cannot live without it.
Card reader is specific hardware component and, as you probably know, limited with reading SD cards with different capacities.
Maybe it sounds pessimistic now but I don't believe you will be able to find some "independent" driver for it.

  • Used my card reader to import images, now see "incompatible JPEG" on images in camera

I have a Canon Power Shot A720 and used the card reader to import photos into the organizer.  Now when I go back to erase some images from the camera I see many, but not all, of my 'once' images blacked out with a grey/white box in the center & a yellow question mark. Under the box it says "incompatible JPEG".  What does that mean?  It's never happened to me before, but I usually import my images directly from the camera.

    Hi,
I'm not sure I understand your question since it's been a while since I had
trouble.  When I had the trouble I was downloading from my camera and
storing them in the Organizer.  My problem came when I edited those images
and RENAMED them.  I guess the organizer didn't recognize the renamed
photos?  Those were the images which had the yellow check mark.  I now use a
card reader only, and I store them in 'Pictures' instead of the PSE
organizer.  I haven't had any more problems.   I think the Organizer, when
used properly, would be the best choice.....I just couldn't figure it out!
Frankly, I just didn't understand the Organizer and was used to my own
method for storage.  I think that's what messed me up.  I had help from a
computer technician to retrieve those images, and I haven't had any problems
    since.
As for deleting images, I only delete images from my camera by using the
delete on my camera.  I never, never delete from my card/camera by using the
prompt from my computer, like "do you want to delete these images from your
    camera?"
    Good luck!
    Donna
I don't if I helped you at all.  You're welcome to write back or hope for a
really good explanation on the forum boards.

  • I renamed the card reader and now iPhoto doesn't work

i am using a card reader to upload photos to iPhoto. everything works fine until yesterday i renamed the card reader icon (the icon always says "Untitled" but i renamed it to something else) and now it doesn't read anymore. the warning says "Unreadable Files: 1" it's in unrecognized format. i wonder if it has anything to do with renaming the file. what can i do and how can it fix this?

    Possibly
iPhoto does not see your card reader - it sees the card so renaming it might create a problem since you are writing to the card
Do you have photos on it you need to save? If so give image capture a try (it is in your applications folder) or use the finder -- once you have your photos off of it user your camera to reformat the card (the camera's format command) and see if that cures it (it probably will go back to untitled)

  • T510 Media Card Reader and XD card

I have a T500, but just got my daughter a T510. She is now away from home at school and having trouble with the media card reader. Seems it is very different from the one in the T500.
Is there any place I can get instructions on how to use this reader T510 media card reader?
Her camera uses an XD card, which just slips into the T500 reader, but she says that the media reader is a tray in the T510.
Can it read an XD card? If so how does it operate.
    Thanks

  • Not recognising USB card reader and also PhotoBooth issue

    Hi,
I'm a new member and a bit of a numpty when it comes to Mac (new owner).
My Macbook Pro is giving me some grief tonight and I have 2 separate (i think) issues.
It will not recognise my USB card reader. It worked fine last week and I did eject it properly before removing it. I've tried the card reader on a PC and it is working fine....
Also when I go to open Photo Booth it tells me that my camera is not connected or in use by another program. But as you know the camera is built in!?!?!
I'd be very grateful for any thoughts on how I might fix the problems. The nearest Mac store is 2 hours away....
    Many thanks in advance

  • Forms6i, read and write Images to BLOB

I read and write jpg's to the database with this commands:
    Read_Image_File (V_Filename, 'JPG', 'BILDER.IM_BILD');
    Write_Image_File (V_Filename, 'JPG', 'BILDER.IM_BILD', No_Compression, Original_Depth);
My problem is, that forms stores a jpg-format to the db, that cannot be read from java-programs.
The other way, when java stores jpg's to the BLOB, then forms can work fine with this images too and java also...
What does forms do, when it stores jpg's to the db, so that other programs cannot use the images?

  • Magnetic card reader and java

    hi all
I am doing a project in java in which i need to read the magnetic card reader in my program.so please tell me how to read the text ,that the card reads, in java.Basically my project is to develop an attendence system in java that will use ATM card of the person.I need to read the string that the reader reads, in java. Please help me how to do this. Thanks in eadvanc

Alright, let me give you an idea of what stratergies which we can follow with regards to your requirement assuming that the magenetic card contains just a stream of information.
1).If you are using Magnectic card Over Serial / LPT ports,Try to use Java Communication Api.
write a class using it which pools all the available initiated ports continuosly. If you find ready data avalable with regards to that device connect to that port & then fetch the data and then throgh an event with regards to that data obtained now parse the data accordingly and then use for your business means.

    http://java.sun.com/developer/Books/javaprogramming/cookbook/11.pdf
the above links would guide you through in acheiving the stated solution.
2). If the stated Magenetic Card or Specified device already has a Driver in place and set of native methods(in low level languages) in place.all you ought to do is to make use of JNI and write a native Linking library using JNI specification which can make use of those native methods and export them to java and use them accordingly.
