Tecra M2: Installing a clean version of Win XP Pro

I have a tecra M2, and due to the number of updates, and SP2 release I wish to format, install a clean version of windows xp pro, and then install all the toshiba drivers and programs.
I am looking for guidance in which order should I install them, one I have done this i wish then to use the sysprep function and creat a new ghost image.

Hi Bye,
Thanks for the reply, sorry i did'nt make myself clear, yes i have all the recovery software, but this was build 31/08/2004, and since this date many updates have been released (which i have downloaded), also the original recovery software does not include the windows xp sp2. So what i am looking to do is to reinstall windows (clean version) then install the drivers and toshiba software, and then build a new reovery dvd using ghost. I will also use the same sysprep and all i am trying to find out is what the best order to install them, can you help mate?

What has to go, in order, like itunes-quicktime-mobile me, or?

There are two part when installing WebEnt.. The first one is the web server part where it installs the fortecgi.exe or other web server components. This should be installed where the web server is going to be running. This is usually not you development server. The second part is the http library and web designer part. This should be installed on the development server. The http library need to go through a install of its own to make it part of the central environment. After that all the developers will have access to the http library and all they will need to do is install the Web desinger part.
    Hope this helps.

  • VirtualBox: Problems installing NW2004s ABAP Trial Version on Win XP Pro

    Hi
I'm at Mac OS X user who have installed a Win XP Pro SP2 guest OS in VirtualBox.
    - I made a NTFS format on the virtual disk (40GB).
    - 2GB RAM is assigned to the Win XP Pro guest OS
    - Java JRE 1.4.2_17 has been installed
When I installed NW2004s ABAP Trial Version in the Win XP guest OS in Virtual Box it fails. The MaxDB seems to be installed successfully though.
Have anyone done a successfull installation through VirtualBox where the guest OS is Win XP?

  • Can't complete a clean installation of WIN 7 PRO on an Acer Aspire 4738

    Hello,
If any one could help me with this problem i would really appreciate it.
I have an Acer Aspire 4738-6888 (icore 5, 3GB RAM, 500GB HD), it was running win 7 ultimate 32 bits but started working erratically so i decided to perform a clean installation. HD was formatted entirely.
Then tried installing WIN 7 PRO 64 bits from a DVD, but the installation program does not load and shows a kernel error oxc0000098
It is funny that if i use a WIN 7 PRO 32 bits DVD, the installation programs loads and starts, everything seems to run normally (HD partitions can be created and formatted, Files are expanded and configuration begins) but just after the third restart
when the assistant shows the message " preparing to run windows for the first time " the blue screen appears showing a "Memory_Management" error. Tried one more time but using a WIN 7 ULTIMATE 32 bits DVD with same results.
Finally, I tried using the "repair option" from the DVD and get this message:
    StartupRepairOffline
    01: 6.1.7600.16385
    02: 6.1.7600.16385

Before hand thanks a lot for your help,
    Rgds,
    GCH.

    Hi GustavoCh,
What issue did you meet so you want to reinstall?
Could you please use the Windows install image to install Windows in other computer or virtual machine? So we can make sure this issue is not caused by the image.
I think this issue is related to hardware, please contact the manufacturer for better help.

  • How do I install a clean version of Mountain Lion (10.8.3) on a new SSD?

I want to put in a new SSD drive to improve my performance and also re-install OSX.
How do I put Mountain Lion on a new disk?

First, put the SSD into an external enclosure.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the SSD drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your SSD drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the
left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Select one
partition from the dropdown menu under Partition Scheme.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button. Be sure to point the installer to the SSD and not your startup drive. Click on the Install button.
Remove the SSD from the external enclosure and install it in the computer.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • TECRA S5 Nvidia Quadro NVS130M - Sudden BSOD - Win 7 Pro 32-Bit

Having moved from Vista to Windows 7, everything was working fine until two days ago, when suddenly my Laptop stopped working. I was forced to hard reboot it, and then all hell broke loose.
    The problem is as follows:
    Part Number info: PTS53E-00S009EP - Toshiba Tecra S5 - 2GB Ram Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0 Ghz - Nivdia Quadro NVS130M
Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit begun to suddenly report and error code 43 for the graphic adapter (Nvidia Quadro NVS130M). I had the latest nvidia drivers, so I uninstalled the previous ones and rebooted the machine and installed the new ones. After reboot the Laptop crashed with a bluescreen.
I reverted to last known good configuration (default vga adapter drivers from windows which does not recognize the Nvidia Quadro NVS130M) and the Laptop booted up normally allowing me to enter Windows again.
I went back to the previous Nvidia drivers, and the same issue happened, bluescreen, revert to last known good configuration (default windows vga adapter driver).
I went back to the latest drivers for the Nvidia Quadro NVS130M found on the Toshiba downloads site, same situation as before.
I went all the way back to the oldest drivers on Toshiba Support Downloads site, and still the issue remains.
I have Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit since August and everything was working fine, it is fully updated, and have always used Nvidia's drivers both wit the factory default Vista and Windows 7.
I have not installed any windows updates recently, the last being early november 2011.
The only recent change, about 15 days ago, was that I finally found the drivers for the SD Card reader, they where for windows XP interestingly enough, but Windows 7 immediately recognized the SD Reader which it had not done until then. It couldnt even identify the sort of hardware it was.
I tried uninstalling the toshiba drivers for the SD Card Reader, but even then with that uninstalled, and the hardware disabled in the hardware management, when i try to use the factory drivers downloaded from Toshiba the bluescreen still happens.
One other symptom I've noticed is that if the bluescreen does not occurr ( when it does it specifically lists a file from the nvidia drivers as the cause), the computer will stay with a black screen and the fan will be running at extremely high speed, but there seems to be no HDD activity, as the HDD activity light on the Laptop does not light-up at all.
I have read there is an issue that may lead to the computer blocking or freezing unless the latest version of UPEK software is used. However it does not mention anything about a Bluescreen. Also since the Bluescreen error message specifically states the name of a Nvidia driver file, it wouldnt make much sense that he problem was the UPEK Fingerprinting software the one that was causing this.
It wouldnt make any sense at all since if I leave the default vga adaptor driver operating only and do not install any driver for the graphics board everything works fine, SD Reader, UPEK Figerprinting, etc....
I had everything working, including the fingerprinting software until exactly two days ago, so thats also puzzling me.
I have run Symantec's Endpoint Protection AV Software and the computer is completely clean, there are no virri, and nothign shows as abnormal.
I am now totally out of ideas and I cannot seem to find any information on this subject.
Your help highly appreciated and urgently needed, because if all else fails, I would be forced to rollback to Vista, something I really really really would not like to do, due to the usual hassle of reinstalling OS,Office, and Software for a grand total of over 50GB, and due to the fact that Vista is vastly inferior in so many aspects to Windows 7.
Thank you in advance for all your help and support.

    Hi Jorge,
I also read about fingerprint driver which cause a freezing on Tecra series but as far as I know it was related to A11 and M11 series the S5 should not be affected but to be honest the described issue sounds more like a graphic chip issue
Possibly its not graphic driver related issue but graphic chip issue
But did you try to test the notebook with fresh preinstalled OS? Try this and use the OS which was preinstalled by Toshiba in such case you could check if its really a driver problem or chip issue

  • URGENT Cannot install Ora9i rel 2 Client on Win XP Pro SP2

    Hi folks:
I have a problem installing Oracle 9i in a "clean" machine with Win XP Pro SP2 with .NET 1.1 running on a P4@3GHz and 512MBytes of RAM and 30GBytes of HD free, when I start de UOI only appear de Oracle's splash screen and when I select install/Deinstall products, nothing happens (in the administrator task appear not response and close automatically).
I read a lot of solutions about this here, always the same result, NOTHING.
    - I rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.old (of course i copied the installation CD at the oracle subdirectory to avoid long directory paths)
    - Install a JDK 1.3 and 1.4 (and deinstall them after and clean the registry)
    - I login on windows with a user name without rare characters.
After trying all above and more that I've forgotten I try install a older version (8.1.7) but appear this message.
"There was a problem opening the staging area. Please make sure the 'Source' you have specified is valid"
of course the source is valid (products.jar) and I edited the oraparam.ini file to change the relative paths to absolute, but the same message appear.
¿I'm doing something wrong?¿incompatibilites between Oracle and Windows?
Thanks for any help, I need to resolve this problem ASAP!

Could it be a firewall blocking a port that Oracle needs?
Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Windows XP turns on the firewall by default.
Unless, there is a conflict somewhere with the installation program and what you already have installed. Such as, do you have a version of some Oracle software already installed?
Could it be a conflict with the Java runtime? The Oracle Universal Installer uses its own Java VM.
Have you tried downloading the latest client software for Oracle 9.2 and trying that?

  • Which method to reinstall a clean version of Mavericks?

I'm getting thoroughly confused as to the method(s) afforded to me to reinstall Mavericks cleanly. My machine came pre-loaded with 10.9.0. Since buying a new customised iMac four weeks ago I've been struggling not only with a blurry display but also with myriad bugs. I've been so busy with all of that that I've not had time yet to acquire and install my own additional apps. I've tried one Mavericks update, from the Apps Store, bringing it to 10.9.2 but it made zilch difference to any of my problems.
Using the Web to bone up on how to download a fresh copy of Mavericks and then to put it on to a bootable USB drive has revealed that there are several methods for doing this. However, each involves multiple procedures and if you don't do them just right you risk ending up with a dead machine. But amongst the many articles I looked at was this:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html
in which Dan Frakes states in a section called 'A note on installer compatibility' that owners of Macs that came with Mavericks pre-installed aren't allowed to download a new copy of Mavericks with which to do as they wish. Instead, only an 'Internet Recovery' install is permitted.
Then, on these forums I've seen reference to this, which seems to suggest that a copy of Mavericks, other than the one being used, is stored on the Mac and simply needs to be envoked:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14243?viewlocale=en_US
    Errh, or does it?
Going back to the macworld article, is Frakes's contention true? Could I only envoke an Internet Recovery (and that only), where presumably all control will taken away from me and a download-and-install done all in one operation? (There might be issues in my case, as my internal HD's partitioned).
I've of course been doing Time Machine backups along the way but TM backups will only deal with the system disk's contents as delivered initially, including any bugs or damaged files that might have been there at that time. Only a clean install of some kind, from a newly-acquired copy of the Mavericks file, will be the sensible thing to do, therefore, if I want to try the fix the current problems with my Mac.
But then there's the Apple Support note about using Recovery for reinstalling the OS. What makes this different to an Internet Recovery? In this case, is Recovery done from a good copy of Mavericks stored on the Mac (seems very unlikely), or is this in fact the same as Dan Frakes's Internet Recovery, except that the Apple Support note doesn't go on to say that the Internet will be automatically accessed?
Has anyone using these forums been in this situation yet and discovered the ins and outs of trying to download and install a clean version of Mavericks, when the current OS on their Mac is already Mavericks?
Going to the Apps Store (at which I've registered) and looking up the description of the Mavericks Installer file there, a small button on the webpage indicates that it's free and, certainly in my case, there's no wording there to indicate that I'll not be permitted to download it. But perhaps that won't happen until I actually try to do it?!

    Kappy,
Sorry I've not responded for a few days. I've been busy with important issues outside of computing.
I've read your response many times over and although I still find it confusing, it appears that at long last you're beginning to agree with me - that machines that already have a copy of Mavericks pre-loaded are a special case, in that with them you can't just go to the OSX Mavericks Installer at the Apple Store and download the file there, with a view to performing a reinstall of it and/or to make a bootable copy of it, and then expect it to work. Instead, the only options available are to use what's called 'OSX Recovery', or 'Internet Recovery', two mechanisms that are especially built into the Mavericks Mac itself. Now, I might still have got this wrong but I think that the former will restore a copy version of Mavericks on the machine as loaded by the factory (not from Time Machine), whereas the latter will specifically download a new copy of Mavericks from a dedicated Apple server (not the same file as found at the Apps Store). Either mechanism will require the Internet to be accessed.
From all of the research on this that I've done by looking through other postings in these and other forums, there's widespread misunderstanding of this, in my opinion. From what I've read, I think the majority who've written about it have got it wrong and only one or two have realised that, for current post-Mavericks machines, what you're actually permitted to download is quite limited and specific. Indeed it's very easy to get this so wrong that if you attempt it without truly understanding it you can easily end up with a dead machine and no copy at all of Mavericks! Both OSX Recovery and Internet Recovery require the system disk to be erased before the replacement copy of Mavericks is added to it, but if something goes wrong with the download, for example, or you find you're not permitted to download the file anyway (because you've requested the wrong Mavericks file), you've basically had it!
Why on earth Apple has devised such a complex mechanism in the first place is quite beyond me. I can only presume that, because hard install media (CDs, DVDs) has now been consigned to the past, Apple's become paranoid about the possibility of people downloading copies of the OS to put on their own media and it then possibly getting illegally distributed. But Mavericks is hardly likely to work on a non-genuine Apple machine anyway, and Mac-ers are allowed to now update from earlier versions of the OS for free, so where's the problem? I just cannot fathom why Apple doesn't simply provide a ready-made USB memory stick with a copy of the OS on it when someone buys a Mac. There are surely ways of locking the stick both to keep it safe from erasure or corruption and to associate it, by way of serial.no., with only a specific machine?
Anyway, back to the problem in hand. My understanding - and I'll be the first to hold up my hands and admit that I'm a complete idiot if I'm wrong - is that post-Mavericks machines (such as mine) incorporate a normally-hidden zone on the system drive (or system partition) that holds: a presumed good copy of Mavericks, a Disk Utility, a minimal form of the Safari browser, and the Restore mechanism for Time Machine. If, therefore, you wish to reinstall the OS from this copy, then you would envoke specifically OSX Recovery. You'd type Cmd + R during a restart. You'd need to assume that the copy of the OS (not the copy you've been using) is therefore good and totally uncorrupted (which it might not be!), but at least this recovery method should be relatively fast. My guess is that the Internet access requirement for this is purely for authorisation purposes (reading the machine's serial no. and doing a quick check on the hardware) and nothing else.
Incidentally, for both recovery methods, Apple strongly advises that you ensure that your router is configured to DHCP. Look very carefully in:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
I assume this is because of the simplified nature of the Internet access by the minimal browser contained in the Recovery zone and also the presumed minimal status of the Network software on the machine. This unfortunately will mean a separate and very awkward additional task for those of us who are not using DHCP. And then a repeat of that later on, to put the router back to its normally-required state. Jeez, all this palaver just to try to end up with a decent copy of the OS on the machine!
My understanding is that OSX Recovery renders you effectively an on-machine backup copy of Mavericks but with all your files and settings remaining intact. (At one stage I had a suspicion that the backup copy was a download from an Apple server, but now I'm not so sure and instead I think it's from a copy of the OS kept in the Recovery zone on the HD from Day One). Bear in mind that if the Recovery zone, or specifically OSX Recovery, has become corrupted or there are bad files amongst the copy OS, all you'll end up doing is putting another corrupted version of Mavericks back. There's really no substitute, in my view, for a proper clean install, and so for this you need to envoke Internet Recovery instead, the alternative mechanism.
Internet Recovery follows a similar procedure, except that you use Cmd + Option + R during the first restart. You follow the instructions through, and before Recovery attempts to connect the machine with the Apple server you're required to wipe the entire system drive. Unfortunately if you've partitioned your system disk, then this will cause a problem, possibly causing the procedure to freeze (see the above kb article). So you've no real option but to save any precious files in them and to delete those partitions beforehand, reconstructing them later on, when hopefully the full Internet Recovery will have succeeded. After the server performs a couple of checks on your machine the 'guaranteed clean' version of Mavericks is then downloaded, straight into the system drive, along with a copy of the Recovery zone. My assumption is therefore that the Internet Recovery download will be at least 13GB, if not more. OSX Recovery, by comparison, should be in the region of 6GB. Anyone on a slow Internet connection will therefore experience some very frustrating hours, if not days, waiting for the Internet Recovery download to complete. Even after that there'll be many minutes before the whole process ends and the machine finally boots back up into the Welcome screen.
Incidentally, Apple seem to say that the version you're given in the download is the version found already on the machine. So, if you've originally had 10.9.0 and you've in the interim updated to 10.9.2, does the server give you 10.9.0 again, or 10.9.2? I guess it doesn't matter too much, as you're probably going to want to download the updates and any missing iLife apps again anyway - but it'd be nice to know early on. Another ambiguity, in my view.
Looking back at your last statement in your posting of 25th March, Kappy, what you've written there is of course true  - you're not permitted to download the Mavericks Installer file from the Apps Store, and that any other non-legitimate copy elsewhere on the hard drive will ultimately fail - but with an important caveat: Yes, you're not permitted to download Mavericks from the Apps Store in that instance, but you are still permitted to get a different and bigger file (the 'full' file which includes all of Recovery) from a different Apple server elsewhere. And that's Internet Recovery.
Now, do tell me, have I understood this properly? If you reckon you're truly up to speed on this and you think I'm still wrong over one or two things, do point them out.
Actually, when I performed my recent update to 10.9.2 the screen went blank halfway through the download and remained so for some time. (The download took over 30 mins). It did nonetheless appear to complete. However, my working copy of Mavericks now seems even more buggy than the version supplied on the machine originally. So, this is why I'm seriously contemplating a full clean install now (Internet Recovery). At the time of the update, my router was configured to be using fixed addressing, not DHCP, so possibly that caused a big hiccup in the download. Somehow, I can't believe that that would be a requirement for everyday updating of the OS and apps, though. That'd be ridiculous.

  • Why did AAM install 2 Photoshop Versions?

Two weeks ago, I downloaded and installed Photoshop CC on my Win 7 PRO, PC, desktop with no problems.  Today, I attempted to install Photoshop CC on my W 7 Pro laptop which had the desk version of CS6 loaded.  I did the following:  deactivated CS6; uninstalled CS6 (I had a boxed copy as a backup); logged in to Creative Cloud; Reinstalled Application Manager; downloaded and installed Photoshop CC.
The above installation installed both the 32bit and 64bit versions on my 64bit laptop. Both versions run and are the 13.1.2 version.  Control panel > uninstall shows only one CS6 icon.  ( I did an uninstall and two icons appeared and uninstalled both versions. I then reinstalled PS CC). The 32bit version is in the program files (x86) directory and the 64bit version is in the program files directory as expected.
I would appreciate any thoughts on why this happened.  Is it my process, my machine, or an Adobe quirk?
Can I manually remove the 32bit version without creating further problems?
    Thanks

Marv I would recommend leaving both applications installed.  Mylenium's response already goes a long way to address why you want both the 32-bit and 64-bit version to be available.  I would also recommend reviewing the following documents for additional details.

  • Is it possible to install previous TRIAL versions of previous versions of Adobe Creative Cloud Software?

Look, I'm just testing the trial versions right now.  Don't try to troubleshoot something that I don't ask; this is what I'm looking to accomplish:
Is it possible to install a trial version of any of the Adobe Creative Cloud software in a previous version?  By that, I am referring to the following:
I want to install a trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014; NOT Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.1.  If you notice, I want to reinstall a trial version of the previous release.  Don't ask why, you'll just laugh for my stupid reason, but I'm merely wondering if it is possible.  Creative Cloud now only offers trials of the newest versions, and I want to install trails of previous versions for my own, personal reasons.  Is this possible to do with creative cloud, or must I do it some other way?
Is it also possible to obtain the physical installation files so that I won't have to always go through creative cloud to download them again (and then I can just set it up without being connected to the internet)?
