Tecra M5 windows 7 and Fingerprint

Has anyone gotten the fingerprint to work on Tecra M5 with Windows 7?  A friend told me he could not find his finger prints and delete his account. This is after he set it up.  He was using Protector Suit.

+Have you removed the old version of fingerprint software before you installed the new version? Remove it in control panel > uninstall programs and remove the software before you install the new one. Also use a registry cleaner like Ccleaner to clean the registry.+
Done.
+Does fingerprint work with preinstalled OS from Toshiba?+
Laptop had xp and it did work then. Tried Vista but not fingerprint. Win 7 now, not working. will not downgrade, 7 works otherwise fine.
+Did you choose fingerprint software version 5.8.0.4024 from UPEK for the Win 7 32bit OS?+
+There is only 32bit version available.+
Update done.
+Furthermore be sure that VAP (value added package) and Trusted Platform Module driver is install+
Done
Not working. It just asks to plug in usb fingerprint reader, but won't use the build-in one.

My windows was out of date and in the coarse of trying to update it, the system runned into a problem and the only way i could get back my information was to let the system settings go back to its default settings. Following that, i find it difficult to download new updates and the fingerprint is also not working any more. Please what should i do ?

    Hi @CLEPRIS ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP-ENVY m6 Notebook and issues with Windows Updates and the Fingerprint reader software. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers that might need updating on your system.
It shows me that there seems to be interference with Software task, usually your virus protection.
You might have to disable this software and then run the Windows update.
I would suggest to uninstall HP SimplePass and reinstalled the latest version for Windows 8.1.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
I hope this fixes things up for you.
    Thanks.

    Hi there!
Please see  this thread for the download links for the Fingerprint Software 5.8 ....
This issue was already raised in the ThinkVantage subforum here at Lenovo Forums and it is resolved.
Regarding the Turbo Memory, please keep in mind that the hardware only works with Vista. Windows XP does not support turbo memory thus the piece of hardware is rendered useless. With regards to Turbo Memory usage in Vista, the latest drivers do fully support the card in Vista and since there are no technological changes, there is no need for additional or new drivers.
    Hope this helps!

  • EliteBook 8570p Fingerprint Sensor Issue and Windows 8 and 8.1 Built-In Biometric Framework

    Hello there,
i'm currently testing the Preview Build of Windows 8.1 on my HP EliteBook 8570p and have a small Problem using the Fingerprint... but back to start...
In Windows 8 there wheren't any microsoft builtin biometric framework, to get the fingerprint there you have to install the hp security protect manager, and the validity Fingerprint Driver from here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=de&cc=de&prodTypeId=32...
the actual version that the site above state is this: 4.4.228.0 (31 Okt 2012)
the filename of the fingerprint driver should be this: sp59624.exe
exactly this is what i download, but then upon extracting and "older?" SP-Number appears?  -> SP58152 ????
Driver should have Win8 support, but on installing it it just says it supports Win7 max... another hint that the driver packet is wrong packed...
this is the first thing what is very strange, even, the driver won't install automatically... just manuall, this is also a non WBF (Windows Biometric Framework) driver, so ne built-in fingerprint support of win 8.1 does not work.. indeed with the hp security manager... but when using the fingerprint login there i see just ugly Windows Vista branded Loginmasks... not a real choice..
after a bit of google seach i then found a new version of the validty fingerprint driver, but this is not listet in the 8570p Model download page... just found it with the help of google..
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=de&lc=de&dlc=de&softwareitem=ob-109892-1
this one have a newer version:  4.4.234.0 (2012-09-07)
interessting thing about this... newer version, but older release date... ?!
and it is a WBF driver, voila, i thought...
installing the driver via the device manager (VFS451) and Windows 8.1 is able to scan fingers for login or credentials requests... works quite well... until first reboot... sadly after the first reboot, windows just continously means that a finger is getting swyped acrous the fingerprint reader, but it isn't...
after deinstalling the device, and reinstalling it (and driver) the fingerprint reader works again still the next reboot...
any help is appreciated and HP PLEASE do something about all the issues with the fingerprint readers even in Windows 8 (and/or correct the download)

  • Upgraded to windows 7 now my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working!

I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Business to Windows 7 Ultimate and my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working.  I've tried reading advice off of some forums here and even checked out what I can download from this site and also tried updating but each time it either says could not find updates, or when I  try dowloading from this site it says the program may have not installed correctly.  I'm stuck I don't know what else I can do, can someone help, I would appreaciate it greatly!
    CheerGurl313

Ah if only life were so simple. I have been without a soundcard ever since upgrading to Windows 7, have spent hours on the Lenovo site trying to locate a driver, filling in all those little boxes, time after time to no avail. The drivers, if they exist at all, are being kept secret. There can be no other explanation. Have the same problem with the fingerprint thingy, but not bothered as the kids had learnt to bypass it anyway.
Enjoying windows 7 in complete silence. If anyone wants to advise downloading a driver then fantastic, but give us a clue where it is hidden.

  • Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP, additional Windows updates and JRE

    Hello,
Sorry to post a new thread but the old one " [Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=45611] " being closed and my question relates to the same topic.
I got hold of a Tecra A10 PTSB0A-002001 and I would like to install XP SP3 on it so the order in which to install Toshiba additionnal drivers is very useful. Thank you Ivan25 for that information.
Toshiba also include a Java Runtime Environment 2 package which I was planning to replace by a JSE 7. I would like to know in which order it has to be installed?
Furthermore, after installing XP SP3 there are still hundreds of Windows updates to apply, should those Windows updates be installed straight after XP SP3 setup or after Toshiba drivers?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Cheers
    Eric

    Hi Francesco_1,
Thank you for you reply. I did install JRE 7 in fact because JRE 2 is a bit out-dated.
For information, the "ALPS Pointing-device Driver" returned errors but all went fine when Iinstalled Vista 32bit driver instead of XP 32bits
Another question, is with regards to "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager(iMSM) ". Since, we have to install SATA HDD drivers during Windows XP setup, is it necessary to run again the "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager(iMSM)" which might overwrite the SATA driver installed at the beginning of the setup?
I agree with you that WXP might not be the best choice, but I need to run some older software that do not work yet under W7, especially under W7 64bits! I am planning on having a boot lodaer anyway, which will allow me to start MS-DOS, XP, W7 or Linux depending on the need.
    Cheers

  • Lenovo toolbox and fingerprint software stopped working on Thinkpad W700 Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

After installing Lenovo Updates an unknown USB device appeared in device manager. Per the instructions of a Lenovo support person I performed a system restore to a time prior to the updates. After doing that the Lenovo Toolbox and Fingerprint software would no longer work. I tried another system restore back to the latest date and that did not solve the problem. I also tried reinstalling both the Toolbox and the finger print software and they still won't work. When I try to launch either of those apps I get an error message saying that they have stopped working and that the system was checking online for a solution, with no result. It's my impression that the system restore screwed up something in the OS or the system registry that is a dependency for those two programs. The only suggestion Lenovo support could give me is to re-image the system. I would prefer to find the cause and fix that rather than reload the entire system. I would love to know what could cause these two programs to stop working when the other Lenovo utilities seem to work fine. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of the tool box are you using?Mine would not open after installting updates but after installating the latest version its working fine

  • Tecra A10 - How deselect the fingerprint reader when docked

    Hi,
I use a Tecra A10 together with an Express Port Replicator 2.
How can I deselect the fingerprint reader when docked and yet use it when undocked?
    Thanks for your help

    Thank you so far!
I never thought your way, which makes sence to me indeed. It just bothered me all the time that the pop up window off the fingerprint reader is very dominant. So with some software it is not easy to insert your password. Do you know which external fingerprint reader the Toshiba TrueSuite Access Manager works with if at all?

  • New 2014 Carbon X1 Multitouch difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8

    Hi guys,
I've a T430u on windows 8 and I find windows 8 extremely unusable with settings and patterns all over the show.
I want to buy the new carbon x1 and I'd love to have it with windows 7 professional, but I'm wondering if there are any feature/hardward disadvantages to running windows 7 instead?
Would the touch screen still work for example? Fingerprint? As soon as I get a reliable answer on this, I'll place the order, cant wait!!!
    Thanks!!

the keyboard Function Row strip has less feature. Also Win 7 uses 2 touch points, rather than 10 touch points like on the Win 8. So touch experience is worse.

  • Windows 7 and the W500

Not sure what the latest info is with regards to Windows 7 and the W500 but today I reinserted my 160GB hard drive and installed Windows 7 Pro x64 (RTM) on it, I was surprised to see that everything except for the modem driver, figerprint, and audio driver would not install.
That's right even the ATI driver installed with the control panel under Windows 7. Woohoo!
I am not too worried about the fingerprint reader at this point as I noticed Windows 7 Pro detects the reader and I am able to use it without needing Lenovo's software.
    A.

good to hear something positive about the W500 atlast D  I'm thinking of doing the same when I get my unit this week.  Any advice/words of caution/tips?    Does the unit come with a driver cd?  or is there a link online that I can find out?   thanks

  • QOSMIO X500-12D - webcam, bluetooth and fingerprint disconnection issues

    Hello,
I still got no solution for this problem. I already did a clean install of Win 7 x64 but still no luck. The devices still keeping disconnecting and I have to reboot to resolve. (this is bad since I normaly using a bluetooth keyboard)
Further this Problem seems not only to occour if system goes 'idle' since my bluetooth keyboard was disconnected during typing. (whatever 'idle' means).
Sometimes I was able to recover at least the Bluetooth connection by turn it off and on again within the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, sometimes with the HW switch (which also deactivates the WLAN) and sometimes only a reboot helped.
It seems that all three devices (Bluetooth, Webcam, Fingerprintsensor) are connected to the same integrated USB root hub within the system.
After my last test, everything was working before I left the system during a nightly copy operation of a 'few' gig, I come back after ~4 hours and all devices were disconnected (HW not installed) --> I checked in the device manager (see [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241257] to show devices which are not connected and in the computermanagement right click device manager -> View -> Show hidden devices) all 3 devices shown as 'not connected'.
I already opened a case at support and they told me to update the bios. (when I opened the call the tests were done with the latest bios available)
Nevertheless, I also had a small talk with the support and they told me to restore the system from the recovery DVD's and check if the problem persists after the restore of the 'certified' image (drivers and so on). If it still persists they will do a HW repair. (change mainboard or whatever)
*AGAIN... is there still NO solution out there? I have searched the web and found many people with the same issues. (X500 owners and others)*
    _What did i tried:_
    - different hotfixes as described at [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0402UQ0001R01.htm] and [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ0402UC0001R01.htm] ([http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258])
    - right now I am using [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981214] since the build numbers of the files are higher than in the hotfix mentioned above and therefor this hotfix should also resolve the problem described in [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258]. (and I am using an USB audio device)
    - I also tried to disable different things of the power management (e.g. disabled usb selective suspending)
    Modell QOSMIO X500-12D

Video NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M Version=8.17.12.5896
    Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080

    HI,
It seems that I have found a solution for this problem.
If you have read my first post exactly you should have read that i already disabled the selective USB suspend.
I have connected 2 external USB hubs which are powered by an AC/DC adapter. On this USB hubs I have connected varios USB devices...7.1 USB Headset, external HDD's, PDA, Card Reader, PKI device, USB Sticks, etc.
Nevertheless, I also disabled the the Powermanagement settings on all devices which were involved and where it is possible.
To do this goto the device manager --> right click --> View --> show devices by connection.
Now locate your bluetooth, webcam and fingerprint device. (be carefull names might be different because of different drivers!)
    Should be under ACPI x64-based PC --> PCI-Bus --> Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller --> {color:#ff0000}*USB-Root-Hub*{color} --> {color:#ff0000}*Generic USB Hub*{color} -->
There you should find all integrated devices which are troublemaker:
    * {color:#ff0000}*AuthenTec Inc. AES2550*{color}
    * Bluetooth USB Controller-7 from TOSHIBA
    * USB-Webcam
Now double click every device in this 'chain' and locate the powermanagement TAB. (Please note that NOT all devices in this chain do have a powermanagement tab and cannot be configured....that's ok)
On the power management tab uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and click OK.
I have done this for all devices which are {color:#ff0000}*marked red in the chain above*{color}. (_I also deactivated the USB selective suspend in the used powermanagement plan!)_
It seems to work now....until now no more bluetooth problem or devices which were gone. It might be that it is enough to disable the Power saving settings only on one or two devices, but right now i had no time to test.
Please also keep in mind that I am using the latest Intel Chipset driver, latest Toshiba drivers and installed the Microsoft hotfixes described in my first post in this thread!
It would be very nice if some people can try and post here if it works!
    Regards

  • SimplePass and FingerPrint Reader not working - Win 7Pro 64Bit

I have a Envy DV7-7212nr which has been running flawlessly with Windows 7Pro for the past two years.  Fingerprint reader and SimplePass has been working fine.  Last week I downloaded from the HP support site for this notebook the updated SimplePass.  After removing all passwords from the account, uninstalling the old software and driver and updating with the HP software,  it quit working to the point where I couldn't even log in to my computer.  I finally got in under administrator and had to manually remove and uninstall the SimplePass software and edit its entries out of the registry.
I can now get back into my laptop fine (no password protection).  Following the advice of the HP Tech via chat session  I again ninstalled the driver listed under Biometrics and uninstalled the software and downloaded the SimplePass from the HP Support site with upgrades listed for this machine.  The Tech took over the machine and tried installing and re-installing and then finally said it was a hardware issue.  I don't believe it's a hardware issue in that at the Windows Login Screen, if I swipe my finger, it recognizes the swipe but then gives an error message that there is no fingerprints associated with the reader (or something like that).
If I back out and just login without the reader and launch SimplePass (Authentec Version 6.0 downloaded via HP Service Pak) - 2013-04-05 , Version6.0.100.272, 66.44M - SP61399, the splash screen opens and says DOWNLOADING DATABASE - and nothing else happens.  It then pops up an error box labeled IESiteLogin.exe with an EXCEPTION ERROR.
White lite on reader never comes on.  Driver details says all is working fine.
Repeated un-installs and re-installs have no effect.
I no longer have the original SimplePass and Driver filed so I can't revert back.  Can someone please offer a solution or provide a URL that will allow me to download the original SimplePass and Validity drivers so I can get this working again?
HP's download caused the problem - I would think they could fix it.
    Thanks in advance.

    thx1326,
I am sorry the Driver did not work.
You might try the Hard Reset procedure below to clear the device cache and allow the driver a better chance to set into place.
    thx1326 wrote:
Ok... so the validity driver did nothing.  Shows fine in device manager - but nothing.  If i install SimplePass, as soon as it finishes installing and everytime I try to run it... I get the pop up window above.
Worst of all... don't you think it is deplorable that no one from HP has bothered to offer help?
Their tech support is really almost non existant.  The tech support person that called me back today kept trying to say it was all my fault for downgrading to Windows 7 and that they don't support Windows 7 and it was my problem.  I finally had to politely ask him to shut up and listen and answer me if they don't support Windows 7, why do they offer driver and software updates for Windows 7 on the support page for this laptop... of course he had no answer for that.  Another 30 minutes wasted that I will never get back.
    Thanks again for any help.
    Commentary
It is always unfortunate when a system does not respond to an Upgrade or Downgrade of the Operating System in the way one hopes.
There is no guarantee that there are Drivers for every model  and for every version of the Operating System that one wishes -- changing the Operating System from that of the originally installed version is the responsibility of the owner.  Demanding otherwise is futile.

    Driver Options - Windows 7 dv7-7200 series
HP SimplePass Series 6 requries a Validity Driver minimum version: 4.3.0.205
    To try a different Driver:
First >> Fully Remove any existing Driver
    Windows 8       Windows key + X > M (opens the Device Manager) >
    OR
Windows 7       Control Panel > set icon view > Device Manager >
    Open category Biometric Devices >
Right-Click on Validity Sensor Driver > Uninstall > in box > Click Delete
Next >> Perform the Hard Reset
Create a Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR  Create a restore point Win8
Close all your programs and shut down the computer
Disconnect everything (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder:  Hard Reset is just a device Reset.  The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way.  This type of reset "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the root cause of the problem, this procedure can fix a variety of computer glitches.
Next >> Install the replacement Driver
Try one of the following drivers:
    Validity Sensor Driver sp53369 V4.3.205.0
    Validity Sensor sp54484 - V4.3.205.0
    Restart / Reboot the system
    ===========================================================================

  • T500 fingerprint reader - Windows 8.1 fingerprint option missing "enable biometic framework"

    Hy,
It's my first post here. I got a LENOVO t500 at work to use and I wanted to try to use finger print auth to log in. Its in a domain, but I got local administrator privileges on it. The machine runs 64bit Windows 8.1 Pro.
The fingerprint reader driver was missing in the first place (windows identified it as a fingerprint sensor but had no driver).
The sensor is an AuthenTec Inc, AES2810. I've tried to install the lenovo driver:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en/downloads/ds034486
But received the error message in the subject about I need to enable the biometric framework.
    I've also seen
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T420-Windows-8-1-fingerprint-reader/m-p/124...
and downloaded-installed an authentec driver successfully, so now device manager shows it and identifies it as it should..
Well I've went to the group policies as it was suggeseted everywhere on the net and turned on the options.
I've also checked and found a windows services that had biometrics in it : I've set it to auto-start and started it right away.
But even after all of this the fingerprint option is missing in the accounts sign in page in pc settings.
I've restarted the machine multiple times (with the real restart )
Could you please give me a hint?
I've spent a whole day looking for this yesterday..
Have a nice day & Regards,
    Steve

Yes, but only after you enroll your fingerprints in the Fingerprint Manager, then Windows will tell you that Biometric logon is not enabled, and then you're given the option of enabling it.
However, for domain machines, this can be enabled thusly:
Goto: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Biometric Devices
    Click: Change Biometric Settings
    Click both:
Allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints
    and
Allow users to log on to a domain using their fingerprints
    Restart the computer.
Click: 'Switch user' at the log on screen and choose the fingerprint icon (this of course requires you to first have added a set of fingerprints to your account)
See if this doesn't do the trick.

I have a HP Elitebook 8760W which I recently upgraded from Windows 7 64 Pro to Windows 10 64 Pro.   All went well except I can't get the fingerprint driver to work with either Windows Hello service or the HP SimplePass program.   I have a Validity 471 driver installed that seems to be recognized by Windows 10 and shows as active in the Device Mgr.  I can get Windows Hello to read the initial fingerprints but when I reboot it refuses to recognize the fingerprint reader. The HP SimplePass program does not work at all.  When I upgraded I had to remove the HP Protecttools in order to do the upgrade.  I later tried to install the latest software with Windows compatibility mode.  Still no love with the Simplepass program.  I really don't want to use the HP software.  All I want to do is be able to log on with my fingerprint reader.    I don't understand why the Windows 10 Hello program won't work with a valid biometrics driver.  All I can surmise is that this driver is not totally compatible with Windows 10.  Has anyone been able to make the biometrics fingerprint reader work with Windows hello in Windows 10?   I wish HP would step up to the plate and update their software! Any help with the Validity 471 driver would be appreciated.

Here is some additional info on trying this driver to work with Microsoft Hello: After the driver is loaded, I'm able to bring up the Windows Hello fingerprint setup program.  I'm also able to scan in my finger prints with no problem.  Hello says I'm all setup for the next login.  I reboot my computer and I get an error message on the main screen that say that it is having trouble identifying me.  I don't understand why I would be getting this message when I am setting it up to use the fingerprint scanner.  I try to scan my fingerprint on this screen - nothing happens. I hit enter to go to the password screen.  I swipe my finger print across the reader again - nothing happens. I then select the option to use the finger print to longon.  I swipe my finger again - nothing happens. I then go to my usual pin based logon and login.  There appears to be some kind of problem with Microsoft's biometric program and how it interacts on login with my Finger print reader.  Once again, I'm using an HP Elitebook 8760W with a Validity VFM - 471 driver.  If anyone knows what the problem with this is, please let me know.  I've exhausted all of my options to make this work.
