Tecra S10-11W: How to uninstall Win XP SP3

I have downgraded succesfully my Tecra S10-11W from Vista to XP with the recovery CD's.
But since XP SP3 has (known) problems with some software I want to unistall it and install SP2.
But even with the information from the Microsoft website I was unable to uninstall SP3!

As far as I know a downgrade to Windows XP SP2 or older is only possible, if you did install Windows XP from an installation disk without SP3.
This means if you have only an installation disk with integrated SP3 its not possible to downgrade.

Hi, we have a Win server 2012 R2 (Standard edition, running on a HP Proliant ML350 Gen9), running Active Directory. This machine is also a fileserver. Our files are mostly Word and Excel. We are a carpenter company and many of our carpenters work on customer sites. They often have slow internett connections (mobile broadband). They need to access and update the files on our server. So my question is - what would be the best way to set this up? The connection should of course be secure. It should also be easy to use.
My thoughts so far is: DirectAccess? The VPN on our ZyWall 110 firewall/router? WebDAV?

1. Drivers are installed from the toshiba web site.
2. Chipset drivers and sound drivers were reinstalled no luck,
3. Not Muted FN+Esc
4. Device Manger All drivers ok

If I understand you right all devices listed properly in device manager and you dont have yellow exclamation marks?!
Normally for high definition sound cards you need two patches from Microsoft:
KB835221 and KB888111.
Normally these patches are integrated in SP3 but this only works if you install the sound driver after SP3. So if you have an older version of XP without SP3 you must update to SP3 first and then install the display driver.
So in your case you should remove the current sound driver and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and system folders. Restart the notebook again. Then download and install the newest sound driver from the Realtek Hompage.

Tecra S10 - e-SATA problem with WD MyBook

I have Tecra S10-10E loaded with win 7/32 ultimate. From the begining there is the problem attaching e-sata WD MyBook - most of the time cannot be attached
and Device Manager hangs up in refreshing devices. Only reboot helps, after what sometimes it can be attached, but only ones per boot. All other devices works fine. Before win 7
I have worked with XP without such problem.
I have tried to update the chipset drivers for win 7 - but it has failed with message that computer does not meet the minimum requirements.
The BIOS is 2.0. Trying to upgrade BIOS to 3.0, it responded that Intel TXT must be disabled, but it is fixed in BIOS, option cannot be selected.
Any idea how to fix e-sata?

This could appear if you would use wrong chipset driver.
But this could also happen if you have tried executing the chipset .exe instead of installation from device manager.
The notebook seems to support the Mobile Intel(R) PM45 Express Chipset.
Download it from the Intel page and update the driver in the device manager.
There you will have to use the advanced installation procedure which allows you to point to the Intel Chipset driver files (inf files) stored on the HDD.
Regarding the BIOS update:
Please ensure that VAP has been installed before trying the BIOS update!

Emma, welcome to the forum.
You can go into Control Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows features on or off (In the left column). Uncheck Internet Explorer 11 and click OK. This will uninstall it. You can uninstall of install all of Windows features from there.

64bit Windows 7 for Tecra S10

Is there any way how to switch preinstalled 32bit Windows 7 on Tecra S10 to 64bit?
Ask somehow Toshiba for 64bit DVD or use "some" other source and use the same S/N as for current system?

You have to buy a copy of Windows 7 64bit. If your notebook was only delivered with Windows7 32bit, you can only use this OS. If you want another one, you have to buy it!!!

I assume you mean the serial number of Windows on the bottom side of the notebook Right?
If yes you cant use this number with another Windows disk or another Windows version. This key belongs to the preinstalled OS from Toshiba and dont work with other Windows versions. Furthermore it belongs to a 32bit version and not to 64bit!

This sounds downright stupid, considering that we have this EU thang nowadays. But somehow, the "wise" peeps at Toshiba Nordic have decided not to import Tecra S10, which is Toshiba's best equipped pro laptop series. Then when I have to buy a brand new one from Germany, I first have to download a 2.4 GB Windows 7 Pro 32-bit ISO-image and burn my own installation disc, (done already). THEN, I have to download 4close to 50 files to get all S10 specific drivers, tools and utils. With bad luck, Windows requires a reboot after every install. :-(
If I just could order an English S10 recovery disc, I wouldn't commit any piracy, and I'll gladly pay some € 30 for it. to save a lot of frustrating work.
I hope that the license number on the bottom of the PC will work for my downloaded installation disc...

How to Uninstall Leopard Upgrade and go back to Tiger

I would like to go back to Tiger and was wondering how to uninstall the Leopard upgrade without having to do a full reformat. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

First, welcome to the Apple boards.
Backup what you have because it probably contains things from the original update you want to keep - network settings, passwords, etc. A bootable clone is your best bet - and test it out.
Then you need to format your HD (full, not quick) with the Leopard DVD and then reboot with the Tiger CD and install it. I am not sure how much you can migrate "downwards" from the Leopard backup, but some things will probably come along OK. Not sure about mail since it was converted by Leopard - will it unconvert? Don't know.
I have read of some who tried to simply install Tiger over Leopard but the results were less than great. You can try it once you have that clone backup, because you won't be losing anything.
I would suggest unplugging the clone during the erase and install process until you get to the migration point.

I have a brand new Leopard based MacBook Pro that I need to revert to its previous cat form of Tiger. Would you mind walking me through it? I have Tiger disks that came with another MacBook Pro so those should have all of the machine specific items I will need. As I understand this, I start the computer from the included Leopard disk and do a full format. (I noticed that there is a new partition style named GUID Partition, is this Leopard only?) Next, I load in my Tiger disks and install from those? I do not need to do any system backups as I have no information on this computer as of yet. Any help would be appreciated.
